Seabirds Kitchen
975 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States
Im giving them 4 stars even though my carnivorous son hated it. I ordered the brussel sprout side dish, a couple of mushroom tacos, and the bibimbap.I finished off my meal with the Chaffle, hot-out-the-pan waffles covered in cinnamon sugar and served up with a (vegan?) chocolate syrup and vegan vanilla bean ice cream. Oh so good even though the ice cream was icy semi-hard.The brussel sprouts were incredibly delish with the spicy limey sauce. The mushroom tacos were spot on also with a spicey limey flavor. And the bibimbap was also delightful with a spicey limey flavor. You see what Im getting at? By the time I got to the bibimbap I was all spicey-limied out.The bibimbap is what got 1 star removed. I am half Korean and know bibimbap very well. I was expecting KOCHUJANG (that SWEET & spicy bean sauce that makes a bibimbap a bibimbap) to be the sauce in order to balance out all that spicey limey. All I can say is that was NOT kochujang. While I appreciate their culinary artistic flourish I would rather Seabirds serve up a more traditional bibimbap with bean sprouts, spinach instead of warm kale, the sweet/spicy bean sauce, a smaller portion of the fried kimchee (which seemed to overpower the dish) and vegan Korean BBQ beef. Again the dish was delightful but it was pretty far from bibimbap.Oh, and I also ordered a kombucha drink from the tap. It was the best Ive had. Imagine an outstanding kombucha (more concentrated than the grocery store variety) with the consistency of beer (minus the alcohol of course). On my next visit Ill have their veggie burger (with beets). I heard the skinny vegan three tables down just raving about it. The dude was literally salivating; got me curious. My vegan friends think Seabirds is the best ever. My friends who are not vegans have mixed feelings about Seabirds. And the meat eaters, who Im trying to transform in to healthy vegans, HATE it. Its all a matter of perspective.

Good 2 Go Eats
300 W Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States
In my experience, customer service is good though complex with ordering processes. I don't know the reason my order goes through a cancellation via Uber Eats upon initially ordering (which delays my order by about twenty minutes). On a busy night, if no one picks up your call, its possible the main line is busy. You may receive a call back that same night. I order the Goodd Cheesesteak Hoagie and the Goodd Italian Hoagie (light on the sauces though with a sauce on the side). Both meals are really good. I save half of the Goodd Italian Hoagie for breakfast, and it tastes good being out all night especially with the bread softening. Concerning the bread; growing up, I remember buying that bread for twenty-five cents a piece for breakfast mainly for dipping purposes (in tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.): the bread tastes best to me that way; in New Jersey corner stores (at least the ones I remember frequenting), they actually phase out the bread for different bread varieties though have the bread of my order available for dipping purposes; an eatery I vaguely remember in Philadelphia with one of the best cheese steaks Ive come to eat in my life, so far, doesnt use the bread of my order. I appreciate the ingredients, the sauce is good, and everything within the bread meshes well. Chewing and texture wise, the bread is tough, to me, and I think more bread options can be good. I like the box. I actually have the box in my kitchen, and I high key dont want to throw it away. Delivery or Pick-up are the only options until potentially October when dine in may be available (as per an employees word).

Appus Cafe Long Beach
2211A Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
We recently had the opportunity to try the new location of Appus Cafe in Long Beach. I was very impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. We started our meal with a vegan mango lassi. It was creamy and refreshing, and the perfect way to start a meal. We had the Maharaja burrito with the Cali 911 sauce as well as the paneer Tikka masala. The burrito was a good size and filled with flavorful ingredients, including turmeric rice, mushrooms, and paneer. The Cali 911 sauce added a bit of heat to the burrito, but it wasnt too spicy. The paneer Tikka masala was creamy and flavorful, and the paneer was a nice change from the usual chicken you would get in a non-vegetarian restaurant. This had a nice kick to it as well. The service at Appus Cafe was excellent. Chef VR was friendly and attentive, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. The atmosphere at Appus Cafe is casual and relaxed. Its a great place to go for a casual meal with friends or family.Overall, I had a great experience at the new location of Appus Cafe. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and healthy meal. Here are some additional details about the dishes you mentioned:Vegan mango lassi: This is a refreshing and creamy drink made with mango, coconut cream, and spices. Its a great way to start your meal or enjoy as a snack.Maharaja burrito: This burrito is filled with rice, mushrooms, paneer, avocado, and Cali 911 sauce. The Cali 911 sauce is a spicy sauce made with cayenne pepper, garlic, and other spices.Paneer Tikka masala: This dish is made with paneer (a type of Indian cheese), tomato sauce, and spices. Its a creamy and flavorful dish thats goes perfectly with the turmeric rice.

Open Sesame Grill
5215 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803, United States
Great place for authentic Lebanese food. Its quite rare to find the real Lebanese restaurants in the US but this is one of them. Fantastic decor, great flavors and a wonderful selection of Lebanese wines. All accompanied by excellent service and in a hip area of Long Beach. Highly recommended! Lots of vegetarian options too.

Ikes Love & Sandwiches
5745 E Pacific Coast Hwy E-2, Long Beach, CA 90803, United States
I have been to Ikes only twice and loved one of their sandwiches so I was excited to find one location near where we were going to stay for a few days. They seemed to close a few minutes early so we went back the next day. They were very busy and messed up the order. We had walked to get there so by the time we found this out, we didnt have time to walk back to resolve the issue before closing. It was very cold that night but we went out just for Ikes. We called and they said they would leave a note and do a new sandwich for us the next morning. Well the next morning they did not have a note like they said they would in regards to fixing it. The employee who had made the sandwich error was working and denied the mistake. He seemed upset for having to re-do it. I had walked there again so when I got back, it was just like the previous night. The re-do was still not correct! Really? The same mistake again? What was going on? Was this now on purpose? I will never go there again. I loved Ikes before and that is normally an amazing sandwich, my favorite ever in fact, but this repeated mistake ruined this. It was too plain both times at this location. What happened to my sauce?? Also, my text receipts were both blank.

Appus Cafe Woodruff Medical Building
3816 Woodruff Ave Suite 100B, Long Beach, CA 90808, United States
Is Appus Café delicious or poo-poo? Lets see, shall we?Located at the back of the Woodruff Medical Doctors Offices building, Appus Café is a small eatery serving vegetarian & vegan food.Interestingly, eggs are also on the menu. Eggs are vegetarian? Really? Being an omnivore myself, seeing eggs on the menu is A-OK with me. The healthy fat & cholesterol make eggs a super healthy food to eat. Forget about eating egg white only omelets and such. The nutrition is missing when the yolks removed. Fat, is where its at!Lunch buffet, served from 11am - 4pm, is NOT a buffet. Lunch buffet = 2 item tray which is not all you can eat, for $7+. It consists of biryani rice (with choice of soup poured on top), vegetables & 2 soup items. Considering the buffet would be the best method in trying several options, I went with yellow daal on top of my biryani rice, with mushroom soup & saag paneer as my items. The rice was fluffy & light. Of the soup, my favorite was the mushroom, which had great flavor & the mushrooms were cooked correctly. Surprisingly, everything lacked heat. Good for Appus, the woman working the kitchen had various hot sauces at the ready. After a liberal dousing of Cholula, my meal improved. Finishing my meal within a few minutes, I enjoyed it, but it wasnt satiating for me. For about the same price, I can hit up a lunch buffet at Little India. Put it this way - after leaving, I directly went to Blue Agave Mexican Grill in Artesia for Taco Tuesday. I left Appus Café having the lunch buffet still hungry, which isnt good.If you want a complimentary cup of water, itll come by way of sink.Appus menu includes oatmeal, sandwiches, quesadillas, waffles & burritos, like the Maharaja burrito. Eggplant parmesan & pasta dishes are also available.Service was good. The woman working behind the counter was friendly. For a fast casual place, payment was after completion of my meal. Stools are available to sit for a quick meal, Appus is not a place for groups. A few outdoor tables by the parking lot to dine al fresco. Just park in the back of the office building and look for the tables & signage to find your way.I feel bad not giving Appus Café a higher rating, but buffet means all you can eat! What I got was less than what Id get at Panda Express. The mushroom soup was very good, and apropos for the cold weather weve been experiencing. Perhaps, trying the Maharaja burrito will facilitate my having a better view of Appus, but I left disappointed after having lunch here.

Great Mex
5530 E Atherton St, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
Ok there's many reasons why I'm giving this place a 3 starFirst off I'm vegan and for the longest time this place did not cater to that kind of diet even thought I would try to get things that were plant based like grilled mushrooms and onions, many time I would find small bits of meat in those orders and it was repulsing even though I would clarify that I do not eat meat…sighSecond off they charge way too much for their food, it's good food but it's not the best Mexican food I or my fiancé have had and he does eat meat so he's eaten more things to reflect an opinion like that but they charge like they are high class restaurant when it's just a small spot for Mexican food almost like a hole in the wall..Thirdly most of the workers here are pretty rude, the cooks and manager are the only decent workers with an exception of 1 or 2 waiters here the rest of the staff are very unsocial, can't hold conversations, and can't get orders right, I've had workers take my order down over the phone and screw it up so many handful of times that I stopped ordering out from here and won't be back.I would give this place lower ratings if it wasn't for the manger, she's a sweet lady that does the best that she can, so I would still recommend people to go here if you have no dietary restrictions but if your vegan don't even bother because honestly the only vegan item here are the tamales and they're ok anything else on the menu i would not risk if you are vegan!

Taco Bell
228 E 7th St, Long Beach, CA 90813, United States
I went here today and had THE WORST Taco Bell experience I have EVER had in my life. I asked for a smothered burrito with just cheese inside, nothing else, like an enchilada, because I dont eat meat. The cashier was very polite and had understood what I said and asked the lady behind her to make it, (a pretty simple request, its just tortilla, cheese and red sauce... three ingredients) who turned out to be the manager. The first time she made me a dry tortilla with a bunch of cheese inside, with no sauce on it, and then gave me a separate container with a bunch of meat, sauce, and cheese. Not even close to what I asked for... also I had mentioned three times I dont eat meat. I asked her to just put sauce on the thing she had made and I would have been happy... But then she proceeded to make me a completely flat, dry tortilla with some sauce thrown on top of it and barely any cheese at all, it was just like a dry tortilla with red sauce... And then she got really rude with me and I had told her what I wanted about six times at this point. The cashier was told to just give me a cold container of cheese, I felt like I was just being brushed off and cast aside because it was too much effort to make me a simple enchilada... There was no line and the restaurant was nearly empty except for myself and two other people who were sitting down eating. Finally I just asked her to remake it a third time, repeating what I had said at least the tenth time this time, tortilla, filled with cheese, with red sauce and cheese on top... three ingredients. The manager got even angrier and made me the most disgusting... thing... I dont even know what to call it but it was basically just a burnt tortilla with a super thin layer of cheese and a bunch of sauce dumped on it. I got charged for extra cheese. I was on my way to work, so I just had to call them, and I asked for the manager. It ended up being the lady who messed up my order three times!!! When the cashier understands you and treats you better than the manager there is a problem, it was a simple request and I was treated like some huge bother because I asked for something that was so simple to understand, I couldnt believe it. I talked to the manager and told her on the phone that I didnt even want my money back, I just wanted her to provide better service in her restaurant and be kinder to people in the future because the way I was treated as a customer was unbelievable. NEVER going back here again.

Urban Plates
6440 Pacific Coast Hwy Suite 175, Long Beach, CA 90803, United States
Urban Plates has a nice interior and an outdoor seating area. As a first timer, on a seemingly busy night, in my experience, I dont find its easy to navigate. I walk in, an employee asks if Im dining in or picking up, I decide to dine in, the employee sets a card holder holding a card with a number on it on the counter, my hands are full, I ask if I can sit down to order since Im not familiar with the menu options, an employee tells me I can order at the table, I sit down, I go to the website, I find a meal I want, I notice a sticker with a QR code on another table, I eventually order at the counter, an employee sets a different card holder holding a card with a number on it on the counter, I realize I have to bring the card holder with me, then sit down again.I order the Meatless Loaf with sides of Red & White Quinoa Tomato and Organic Black Beans El Rancho. I enjoy the meal; the Homemade Tomato Jam and the Organic Black Beans El Rancho (mainly the sauce more so than the actual beans) are very good alone as well as with the Red & White Quinoa Tomato and the Meatless Loaf. The side bread complements the meal well. I like the Meatless Loaf with the sauces more so than by itself (otherwise it has a drier though tasty flavor). After finding a speck of a different sauce in the greens on my Meatless Loaf, I check with an employee about the ingredient to find it may be a type of Blue Cheese thats next to the greens.I think its a good idea to keep non-Vegan ingredients a good distance away from potentially primary Vegan ingredients. In my experience, the employees are nice though there seems to be a lot going on otherwise that doesnt make ordering easier for a first time guest especially if a table doesnt have a QR code. The establishment accepts Samsung Pay.

Grilled Fraiche (Long Beach)
2210 N Bellflower Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
I've been to 3 of the Grilled Fraiche locations and each has its own thing I like. What I like about the Long Beach location is the healing energy you feel when you walk in—thanks to the thoughtful and uplifting quotes. The essential oils diffuser, the subtle candles, mildly upbeat music, and flora inspired decor all provide a homey feeling. The service was outstanding—from our attentive and prompt server Marley to the chef Angelica. They make sure you get exactly what you like and that it is to your liking. They also provide excellent recommendations.Don't get me started on the food!!! Their menu has options for the meat lover (such as myself), those who prefer plant based foods, and everything in between. I especially loved the patties (we tried the spinach, curry chicken, and spicy barbecue chicken) and the oxtail. I couldn't decide which I liked more between the classic shrimp and grits I got and the shrimp and salmon croquettes my fiancée got. They have a selection of sauces for every taste palette.I also like that you can sit down if you want or get your food to go. I recommend this spot.
