Taco Bell
24712 Pico Canyon Rd, Newhall, CA 91321, United States
My family is regular Taco Bell customers, unfortunately today we had the absolute worst experience ever in a Taco Bell. We're on the road home from Disney and made a mobile order at 12:19pm to get in and out quick but that didn't happen. We get inside and there were tons of customers who had waited up to 45 minutes ahead of us in the dining area, each of which extremely upset with the wait. The irate individuals were making sure that your new customers coming in were aware of their wait, and most of them left without ordering. They weren't wrong, as I waited 40 min for my mobile order… In that time, as the team started to catch up, I had several people who came in well after my family, and tons of drive through cars get their orders before me which now made myself upset, requiring me to go to the counter, let them know my experience, only to be told “my bad” by the cashier, no sorry even once while we remained in the restaurant until we left at 1:20p. Meanwhile, the manager had to refund two customers who waited half the time that I did for their orders because they couldn't wait any longer. That same manager, stayed non-existent, didn't rally his team, didn't help with orders, and stayed unavailable during this situation. I could probably give a great deal more about the experience but I'll end it here…

EDIT: I gave this place another try and decided to visit in person. Im not sure if it was the great service or the atmosphere but the food was great. I am a repeat customer now and regularly have lunch here. The shrimp cocktail and cabeza tacos are great. Their Jamaica water is also great. Ive grown to love this place.Ill start off with the good. The Burrito was a definitely a good size, and the salsa really compliments the food. The food was piping hot when I got it and everything tasted fresh. The proportions of meat, beans, and rice were good, but I wish they were more evenly distributed. The first half of my burrito was all beans and rice, the second was all meat.I got the Asada as an option and unfortunately, it had no flavor. The asada had both the taste and texture of unseasoned boiled meat. The description listed salsa but there was none I can detect in the burrito. That was an easy fix. That being said, my wife liked the carnitas and nothing tasted off or rancid, so I will be giving this place another try.
Italia Panetteria & Deli
27674 Newhall Ranch Rd, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
I had originally give this place 4 stars, however I went there today and was not pleased at all. The customer service is horrible, quite frankly non-existent unless you have a call in/online order. I walked in to get a dozen hard rolls, quick and easy so I thought. There were two gentlemen already there, I asked both of them if they had been helped and they said yes they had been. I looked at the number being served and saw it was 22 on the screen and the next ticket was 30, so I though no need to grab a ticket. I then waited for 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge my presence, by this time 3 other people had walked in and the first one of them had taken a number. So I grabbed a number just incase, thinking it wasnt needed because everyone working there saw me or walked by me at least twice. A young man behind the counter then walked up and said who was next and I said I was, well the guy that grabbed the ticket in front of me blurted out, I have number 30. The young man said does any one have a number lower that 30. I proceeded to tell him I had been waiting the longest and it was my turn. The young man then turned to the other gentleman and proceeded to help him. I thought to myself what a joke, wait for 20 minutes for a dozen rolls then some guy walks right in front of me and the people working there did absolutely nothing. If you like expensive Subway sandwiches, non-existent customer service, and have a half hour to burn then this is the place for you. I know I will never go back.
Neighbarista
23120 Lyons Ave #24, Newhall, CA 91321, United States
I love kids because they have no filter. We brought our two boys here today and drove all the way from Whittier. So this is almost a two hour drive (must admit it was decent for a Sunday). Let me tell you it was worth the travel time and the cost of gas. The reactions of their faces when they brought and tried the food was truly priceless. My youngest son RARELY finished scrambled eggs and he finished every morsel of egg on his dish. The pancake was bigger than his head and he squeezed that thing in his tiny belly. I grew up with my mom making the best pancakes and these reminded of those. They truly were the best pancakes Ive had outside of the house. I am glad my son let me sample them. We ordered the Lox and Bagel for my eldest and he was as happy as could be. There was not one gram of Lox left on his plate. My husband ordered a cup of coffee and house made Mexican hot chocolate creamer... oh it was so delicious. I debated ordering an iced coffee with that creamer to go... next time! The coffee and creamer paired perfectly. My crepe - the crispiness of the hash browns and bacon really complimented the soft fluffiness of the egg and crepe. The hollandaise sauce really made the entire dish memorable. It was without a doubt a wonderful breakfast crepe. My husband ordered corned beef hash and his potatoes combined with the corn beef hash were a match made in heaven. I have no idea what they do to their potatoes but I definitely need to up my potato game. They are the right balance of seasoning and texture. The entire meal was a treat. I could not have asked for a better breakfast experience for my entire family. The first thing the boys said when we got in the car was Please bring us back... when are we coming back? We promised them we would come back to visit. FYI we had to adjust the car seat straps for our eldest cause he ate so much. Thank you Neighbarista for making an enjoyable and memorable Sunday for my family.
Hummus Republic
28108 Newhall Ranch Rd, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
I was so very disappointed and embarrassed with my experience at this location. I recently tried the one located in Burbank and it was absolutely amazing! I bragged to my spouse about my experience and he was super excited to try it as he just went vegetarian a few weeks ago. I spoke very highly of the food and experience and he let me know he found one (this location) nearby him. I had no idea there was a second location which made me even more excited to take him because it was nearby. When we got in we both ordered the salads. The portions were very small and the employee was giving us both very limited amounts of everything. The salad bowls had barely any lettuce and mostly toppings. We both got falafel and I let him know they're made to order (even the menu states this). The employee gave us falafel sitting in a white bag already pre packed near the fryer? We then got pita bread with our meals that was complimentary I'm assuming and they were hard as a rock. I saw the employee making fresh ones after we ordered. We would have waited to get them if he asked. Once we sat down to eat everything was just cold, the falafel was room temperature and the bread had to be tossed. I was so embarrassed as I told my spouse he would have an amazing experience here. He is willing to give me another try at the Burbank location for a different experience.
In-N-Out Burger
550 Newhall Dr, San Jose, CA 95110, United States
After a year of debating which hamburger joint was better “the others Guys” or “In-N-our Burger” I finally went to the dark side to see what all the hubbub was all about. As I walked up I noticed that they were very busy but the lines moved fast, the restaurant was clean and had a lot of 50 style diner photos “very cool”I ordered double cheese burger and the animal fry's “from the secret menu” the server was all smiles, super polite and friendly. So far 5 stars all around. When my name was called I got mu food, filled my cup with lemon aid and sat ready to grub down. The burger came with onions, lettuce, tomato and a toasted bun. “liked the toasted bun” Mayonnaise and barbecue sauce is not available? I did get a very hard to open package of “what I think is” something like thousand Island dressing with relish in it. For “my” taste buds I found the burger lacking 3 stars max, The animal fries were crisp but just had cheese “and tasty stuff” on the very top, I could not pull the fries from the bottom and dip them in the topping as it was a hard clump “2 Stars.” Very disappointing. On the bottom of the cup and the French fry holder I found Bible verses “as one who is in Christ I think that is a great concept, my friend who was there with me, IS NOT in Christ, said he likes that they do that and has actually looked up the verses from time to time. 5 stars in my book”The price point is also 5 stars, over all I think 3 stars is a legitimate rating.
Achilles
2521 Newhall St, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
This is a real gem. I have no idea that the previous kabab place got replaced with this eatery. I went to this place after finding very high ratings and good reviews for this hot new choice. And so glad I am that I made that decision. For quite a while now I was looking for a Mediterranean place for a quick grab which has great food and not overtly expensive. And Achilles is the place.I and my wife went for the first time on a weekday night around 8 pm. Since it was our first time, the guy at the counter was patient enough to explain us how to go about choosing items and also some suggestions. I chose a chicken shawarma plate and my wife selected an Achilles chicken plate. The base options are rice, salad or half and half of each. Then there are choices of hummus, baba ghanoush and sour cream. There are multiple veggie choices and a bunch of sauces to experiment with. I am pretty sure none of them will turn out bad in any way. The end result is superb and we both liked our plates greatly. We also tried a side of falafels and that was an order of 4 pieces. They were fried in front of us and given to us within 5 minutes. They taste delicious and fresh - one of the best that I have tasted.I am definitely coming back for more and I highly recommend to try this place out.
The Daily Harvest Cafe & Juicery
22722 Lyons Ave #6, Newhall, CA 91321, United States
I came in on the second day they were open. I was the only customer at 6:30pm, other than two friends of the owner who were eating and speaking with him. I was surprised by the price point being higher than expected for the juice ($8 each) and the fact that juices are not fresh juiced when ordered but bottled (presumably in the morning).I was impressed by the gluten-free and vegan options (my wife is both), so I decided to try a starter to see the quality of their food. I order the sweet potato wedges with the chipotle cashew dip. I found out they had no dip and only the garlic aioli, so I got that instead. The theme of the restaurant is confusing. The tables are more like a coffee shop and there was loud R&B style music playing in the background. The sweet potato wedges came in a good time but I was severely disappointed. They were lukewarm-cold, soggy, and greasy. There was no seasoning at all on the fries (not even salt). They were displayed in a nice ceramic bowl with straight sides but the aioli came in a to-go dish with a lid (marked with a 10/26 date, which is two days before they even opened). I used the garlic aioli which was runny and had very little flavor outside of a strong garlic taste which overpowered the under-seasoned sweet potatoes. After a few wedges which were cut more in size like large steak fries, I couldnt really bare eating it anymore. As I packed up to leave the owner/chef finally came over to interact with me for the first time. He asked how the food was and I told him I was disappointed. I explained that the potatoes were cold, soggy, and that I had used up the whole napkin due to the oil. Without apologizing for my experience, he started to explain to me how the wedges are baked and not deep fried (which I guess is supposed to explain the cold, soggy, and greasy consistency???). I replied by saying that using no oil, on parchment, at 400 degrees yields hot, crispy wedges (something my wife and I do at home regularly). His only response was, Well, this is the way we do things here.I told him I did not know if my wife and I would be back to try anything else even though we really appreciate the concept. I wished him luck and grabbed my stuff to leave. He never made any apology for the fact that the food was cold. Nor did he make any attempt to make a better impression.Other items on the menu look good, mostly standard fair for this kind of restaurant concept. Although, I doubt much of it will be executed well since the owner/chef does not seem to care about the quality of the food.It is frustrating for people who are seeking to produce and introduce healthy food to a community make excuses for poor quality and cannot be humble enough to apologize for cold food. I guess hungry families will keep going to jack in the box down the street... at least its hot.
Eggs n Things Valencia
27560 Newhall Ranch Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91355, United States
Location: A bit off the freeway, but no worries. We were coming based on the stellar reviews. Tucked away in a smaller retail center (I won't use the dreaded strip mall label because it really isn't), it could be easy to overlook, but we were determined.Arrival: 10:30AM on a Friday. The host station was well staffed, and we were greeted immediately upon arrival. The staff asked us if we preferred inside, outside, or first available. We chose inside and were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. No problem, we all used the restroom as we'd been driving from Long Beach. By the time we got out of the restroom (maybe 3 minutes), our table was ready.Seating: Our party of four (2 adults, 2 kids) was seated in a typical banquet seating booth for four. The table and cushions were both cleaned from the previous guests. Clean menus for the adults, kids menus and crayons for the kids.Service: Our server greeted us within what felt like seconds. She was clearly a seasoned veteran and could already tell we were newbies. Without being condescending, she told us that all entrées would be served with a “free” Swedish pancake. This was especially helpful considering we were hellbent on getting some of those Swedish pancakes, but didn't know how we were going to work that into the order. She patiently answered all our questions, apologetically we had several, and said she'd be back shortly to take our order.Food: As promised, four Swedish pancakes arrived before our entrées. They were heavenly. I might drive to Southern California to have a whole plate of them sometime. We got a classic egg breakfast, Chicken Fried Steak and eggs, French toast, and eggs and bacon. The coffee and half and half was well above average. The food was absolutely outstanding. Possibly the best Chicken Fried Steak and gravy I've ever had. All the entrées came out very quickly, were generous portions, and were piping hot.Random observations: Very well-staffed. I think I counted 15 hourly employees between front and back of house. I can't imagine how that works given CA minimum wage, but obviously they have it all figured out. The food was NOT overpriced. The booth next to us had a toddler in a high chair. After they left, the booth looked like a natural disaster. Two, not one, but two staff immediately began hazmat duty on the booth. I literally watched a guy work on “something” on the table that he wasn't going to simply leave for the next guests to enjoy. No, he was going to make sure the booth was clean and ready for service. The Manager stopped by our table to see how everything was. Nice job touching tables.Exit: Payment through what looked like Toast was super easy with tap. The hosts asked how everything was. They thanked us for coming and wished us well.I can't say enough good things about this place. It will most certainly be a regular stop for us to and from Southern California.Thank you Eggs ‘n' Things Valencia for knocking it out of the park. We know it ain't easy!
Marstons Restaurant
24011 Newhall Ranch Rd, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
We visited Marstons late one Sunday morning after a memory of a great experience years ago at their Pasadena location. Our diets and preferences have changed a little bit (ie my gluten-free wife was no longer going to order the blueberry pancakes which she remembers as being phenomenal) but we found an extensive menu with lots to choose from, and of course since its a breakfast menu, we vegetarians had lots of options.Minor initial disappointment in that the coffee was just okay. A little bit weak for my tastes. I like a super strong coffee and find that many breakfast places which, of course, have coffee, often dont prepare it right and it comes ot you as slightly flavored browned water. This was a little bit better than that, but, again, not as strong as I wanted it to be.My wife and I both got egg dishes. I had the Just eggs with potatoes and an english muffin. These did the job and gave me the descent diner experience I was looking for. My wife thought the same for her florentine which she got without the English muffin as she is gluten-free.It would be nice if they offered a gluten-free bread option of any kind. Our kid had the soyrizo burrito which, even for his teenage metabolism, was generous enough in size that it lasted for 2 meals.Marstons has a slightly more nicer/upscale vibe than your average diner in town and you can get just about anything you want for breakfast. We glanced at the dinner menu and there are definitely options for vegetarians too so we may give it a try one night!
