Indias Clay Pit NoHo Best Indian Restaurant Nor...
5667 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601, United States
My spouse and I had a very unpleasant experience at Indias Clay Pit, North Hollywood on Friday May 10th, 2019. We arrived at the restaurant at around 12 noon, and were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time. We ordered two lunch specials within a minute or two of being seated. We were told by the server that our food would arrive within 20 minutes.About 20 minutes passed with no sign of our food or our server. A lady arrived and went straight to the counter to place an order for Take-away. The busboy who had poured us water earlier came out of the kitchen and took her order. We heard her placing her order. Another couple arrived and was seated at the table beside us. Again, the same busboy came out and took her order. We heard them placing their order. Another ten minutes passed. There was no sign of our server.Around 12.30, a person who appeared to be one of the chefs, wearing a dirty full-length apron, came out of the kitchen with two soup bowls, went directly to the couple beside us and served them. About five minutes later, he brought them their lunch specials. Still no sign of our food. The lady at the counter received her take away order and left. Finally, at around 12.45, our orders arrived. They were brought by the same chef in the apron. When we inquired about the delay, he said the other patrons had to be served first. We were taken aback at his answer. He was very brusque and bordering on rudeness. He said quite clearly that since they were different customers, they had to be served first. We pointed out that we had arrived before them and waited a full 20 minutes without receiving our order and there were no other customers at the time. He said it was because of the way we looked. At this point, I should mention that we are both brown, South Asian people. The lady who came for take-out and the other couple at the next table all appeared to be white, Caucasian, and spoke in American accents. So you can imagine our shock when we were given these reasons and treated quite rudely by the server/chef. When the bill was presented and we paid - I tipped out of habit, since it is my practice to be considerate - he again began talking to us unprovoked, saying that the other people were more important because they were different and the restaurant would always give them preferential treatment over people like us. I asked him what he meant by people like us. After all, he too was brown, and South Asian appearing like us. He said it was obvious and turned away.He refused to give his name when asked. The descriptions above and his behavior are the only things I have to report. We are still quite shocked and horrified that we could be discriminated against so openly and boldly in a place of business in California, United States. Is this legal? Can non-white people be served later or denied service only because of their race or skin color? Is this permissible business practice in America? Weve lived here four years and are permanent residents (Green Card holders) but this is the first time weve experienced such blatant racism (I have no other word to describe it).I am deeply disappointed in the management and ownership of Indias Clay Pit, especially since we have been regulars here at this restaurant for over a year. The usual server is extremely polite, well-mannered and treats us the same as any other customer, white or otherwise. But this particular experience was deeply unpleasant and clearly displayed the bias of the kitchen staff and other supporting staff. Is it ignorance or deliberate bigotry? I have no way of knowing for sure.I hope someone will read this will reconsider patronising Indias Clay Pit, North Hollywood, until they dismiss the persons responsible for such misbehavior and ensure it never happens again. Nobody should be discriminated against, whether white or brown or any other race, nationality or color. There is no excuse for bigotry and racism.

Salomi Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant

Hello,This is my official review for this restaurant.I highly recommend and greatly approve of this establishment. Even after much critique and a return visit. I have confirmed the food here is amazing the sauces and spices used within are to be commended upon. The Lamb Tikka Masala is great as well as it is my second time ordering it.I have eaten a couple appetizers ( Meat and Vegetable Samosa) with the Mint sauce and Tamarind sauce which are both exquisite, even an infusion of the two sauces really is appealing to the palette. As well have I tried the Prawn Poori. If you read negative reviews pay them no mind, I am hardest on the critique of an establishment. This place is well worth the visit as well as it good on price for the quality of the food. Go here and try some great dishes. Thanks to all who took their time to read my review. Thanks and Cheers!-Georges

Lams Thai and Chinese Restaurant

Fantastic place!! They are incredibly good food, all halal menu, and extremely friendly and nice staff. I was blown away at the quality of the food and the pricing of all that we ate.The noodles and the rice (we ate mostly Chinese food) were extremely good! The spice level was extremely spot on. The fried rice with lamb, which is something Ive never before seen anywhere in any restaurant, was spectacular. I asked for the highest spice level they had and it was extremely good. Very good flavor not burning where you cant taste anything anymore. It was just all around a very good balance of flavor and spice.Especially because the staff was so friendly and accommodating, they were able to cater to most of our substitutions and requests.Extremely good food and staff, would absolutely love to eat there again if I get a chance!

Pretty good food, though pretty standard for this type of vegetarian restaurant. The mango sticky rice was both delicious and adorable.

Taco Bell
8250 Laurel Canyon Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91605, United States
FOOD MADE ME SICK! Two regular tacos and next morning I'm laid up in bed with the runs ‘:( I've not had Taco Bell in 4-5 years and I don't eat fast food nor processed much at all, but this is not good. I've got zapped energy and can't do a thing! It's 11am Monday morning already. There goes half my day.And yes, as other reviews say..pretty crummy vibe and people here. I went in since the drive through was long. Went right to the kiosk and ordered. Went to wait a few feet from the counter as you do, and the manger from the back of the kitchen and in an accent so strong I had to ask 3 times what she was even saying..she yells: You used the kiosk!? - in a way like - you should, we don't want to deal with you. Dang! There goes customer service. And I'm used to accents coming from another country and living in NYC over a decade.Food looked good and I was surprised to kind of like the tacos (after NYC where all fast food has tanked and is nasty)..but to get sick on it says a lot about how it's made in a lab, beef isn't beef, and it may have been spoiled - it shot right through me hours later.GROSS.Never stepping foot in another Taco Bell. Not worth it.

I recently had my wedding at Avana venue and it was unforgettable experience. The venue was the perfect setting for our special day, the modern design and spacious layout allowed us to decorate and set up the space in a way that truly reflected us as a couple. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding, they made sure everything run smoothly. The location of the venue was great, making it easily accessible for our guests and with ample parking. I would recommend Avana Venue to anyone looking for a stylish, unique and well-equipped venue to host their wedding.

Pobres Tacos
12764 Strathern St, North Hollywood, CA 91605, United States
Quesabirria tacos!!!!! They've really upgraded their salsa bar (although it's much more than that) in the past year. If you order a burrito, she'll bring you the basic set you ordered, open faced, on a wooden plank. You then ADD YOUR OWN TOPPINGS (revolutionary), return to the chef and she rolls up the burrito for you. Absolutely genius. But what you're really here for is the quesabirira tacos—cheese & birria taco griddled in its own delicious birria juice. Last time we went they gave us little cups of birria juice to dip the tacos in (which we then drank, because, hangovers). Just go here, eat then die & go to heaven cause this is it

Gorilla Pies
12417 Burbank Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91607, United States
I wanted to love this place so bad. Im always excited to try new places, new flavor combinations and ingredients. My wife was craving pizza and I was about to drive by this place so I stopped in. It was really busy and the staff had their work cut out for them. It took a few minutes before I was able to order, and the wait for my food was 20 minutes (Im not upset by this at all, good food takes time to make)I got the rabbi pizza, the big kahuna pie and the caesar. My wife cant handle spicy so I got it without pineapple and jalapenos. They mistakenly put jalapenos on the pizza, its ok we picked them off but it still made the pizza too spicy for her. The rabbi was pretty good, different, it satisfied my urge to try something new. The employee I spoke with said the Rabbi was the one he was most proud of, and he should, it was good. The Caesar salad was difficult to eat and my wife disliked it A LOT. Everything was in large pieces and it was just plain inconvenient to eat.All in all, my wife will never want me to pick this place up for dinner, and neither would my wallet. But I can guarantee you that if I am eating a meal on my own Ill give this place another shot.

Ramen Izakaya NoHo
10829 Oxnard St, North Hollywood, CA 91606, United States
This place is a hidden gem - my wife and I were starving so I found this spot not to far away from an appointment we had, and we were blown away by the service, and the deliciousness of the food! The ramen was, no kidding, the best ramen Ive ever had. Now Ill be the first to tell you that Ive not had 100s of ramen before, but I do enjoy some ramen every once and a while. This ramen has given me a new craving that I will be coming back for to this spot and Ill also be bringing friends and family here as well. My wife loved her dish, and we both left full, happy and with smiles on our faces. The staff is so friendly, brought us our food timely, were so professional, were genuinely kind people and I wish other restaurants would copy their model of hospitality.Ill add that the night after we dined here we went to the NY Times Best restaurant in LA, a Thai spot that I wont mention the name of, and it was NOTHING in comparison to this place. If youre sitting in your car, starving, just go here, youll be glad you did!
