Falafel and things
975 Veterans Blvd, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
I came here after seeing the very high reviews, and drove right by it since I didn't realize it was a food truck. Parking on a Wednesday night along the street was pretty tough but found a spot around the corner down the street (seems like there was a church service starting) I ordered ahead online and my food was ready when I arrived.Ordered the vegetarian plate, chicken and steak plate, and a hibiscus tea. Veggie plate came with three large falafels (crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside) three dolmas (fresh and tangy) babaghanoush (my favorite, smoky and creamy) hummus with some sort of creamy sauce on it (I'm never impressed with hummus so it was standard), a couple of pickles (too salty for my taste but my bf liked them) and shredded lettuce and cabbage/raw onion mix.For the chicken/beef plate I asked for extra hot sauce on the side but it came on top of the meat so it was too spicy for me to enjoy. The rice had good flavor and the pita was warm and soft but I couldn't eat much of it. Also came with lettuce/cabbage/onions.Hibiscus tea was very refreshing, I added club soda to it since I don't like drinks too sweet and it was perfect. There were a few gritty bits that took me by surprise that I think might have been from the sugar? But it was delicious.Overall, good value with the amount of food for slightly lower than usual Bay Area prices. I live in the city so would probably go back and try something else if I was in the area.
Taco Bell
2693 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94061, United States
I dont go to Taco Bell often. When I do its this location. It has always been slow since day one years ago. Today I was the only person inside. I ordered four tacos and a chalupa and it took almost 15 minutes. Also, the staff needs proper training regarding promotions from the San Jose sharks at the hockey team scores. Four goals youre supposed to get for free tacos which is why I went there today. I said I wanted the San Jose sharks for free Taco deal. She smiled at me and said okay and then I added a few other items and she charged me for the tacos. I caught it and said hey. I thought the four tacos are supposed to be free and she said yes. You need to have a code. So I said lets walk through this. I asked you for the San Jose sharks for free tacos. You said okay and never mention needing to see a code or a screenshot. You just went ahead and charged me and she could not understand what she had done wrong.

SweetU Cafe & Catering

This little cafe is an amazing hidden gem in redwood shores with outdoor seating. The staff there is so friendly and welcoming too.1)LUNCH: They offer yummy Asian items such as chicken katsu, japchae, and beef bibimbap -- Ive tried all 3 and the food tastes really healthy, delicious and homemade.2)AFTERNOON TEA: In the afternoons they recently started to offer AMAZING desserts, along with boba milk teas. I loved the passionfruit mango tea w/boba, and Ive tried their strawberry & fig cake and their Oreo cake --they taste absolutely delicious.2) CUSTOM CAKES: One of the owners is a pastry chef and makes custom-ordered cakes for special occasions. We ordered a birthday cake and we were really blown away by how beautiful, delicious and healthy it tasted! The cake was light, freshly made, not overly sweet -- this is coming from a person who avoids cakes from the supermarket chains because its all too overly sweet for me. And it was stuffed w/fresh fruits that were in season --blueberries, strawberries, mango, dragonfruit and more! PRO TIP: Youll probably need to visit the cafe in person and talk to the owner if you want to place an order! Sharing some additional photos of other cakes shes made for other clients, shes been getting a lot of orders for birthday cakes
Big Brothers Burgers
2137 Roosevelt Ave, Redwood City, CA 94061, United States
Delicious! A really solid burger joint with outdoor and indoor seating! I got the burger that comes with blue cheese, onions rings and bacon on it, and my teen (who is quite the burger connoisseur) had the chorizo burger. Mine was cooked medium as requested. His was cooked a little over his requested medium rare, but he said it didnt affect the tastiness for him.We were really hungry, and both of us were raving over the food the whole time. The servings were generous, we both subbed onion rings instead of fries and got a side of sweet potato fries to share. The chipotle aioli is great, BBQ sauce is good. Ranch is pretty basic, a little thin, but good. My son got a tropical smoothie that was delicious, too. It was a lot of food.In addition to juicy, flavorful food, the owners/staff (its family owned, and I think at least one person working today was an owner) were incredibly friendly and helpful. They take pride in their restaurant, and it shows.Peanut allergy note: we were told they dont use any peanuts in the kitchen, but they werent 100% sure that the shwarma would be peanut safe (we were not ordering that, so we didnt inquire further).
State of Mind Public House and Pizzeria
3710 Florence St, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
This place was a big disappointment. My first taste was a gf pizza my wife brought home. It was really good. So we made plans to go together and I had the Ultimate Pizza. One of the many types of mushrooms on this pizza was very chewy and that ruined the whole experience. It is supposed to have truffle essence but the pepperonis completely masked any truffle flavor. I mentioned this to the staff and they were nice enough to give me some extra truffle dust. It did not help. Again, the pepperonis just overpowered that flavor. I thought the toma had something to do with tomatoes but when the pizza arrived without tomatoes I asked the staff about it. That was when I learned that toma was a cheese. I can't say I noticed any toma cheese flavor. Just very disappointing. However, the next day when I had the leftover pizza for lunch, I reheated it and it was actually amazing. The chewy mushrooms were no longer chewy. The toma cheese must have properly melted because it was a whole new flavor and texture. Very creamy and very delicious. They really need to cook this pizza differently so it tastes like it did when I reheated it. So I try the restaurant a second time and order the OG chicken sando with fries. What is wrong with these fries? They had a texture like they were cooked 3 days ago and just reheated. They were inedible. Strangest texture of fries I have ever had. I don't think frying them twice is a good idea. The chicken sando was good. Could have used a bit more slaw but I ate the whole thing. I think the restaurant has potential but the cooks need more training or something. How do you screw up french fries so bad? The staff was very nice. The video games were to expensive. I probably will not be recommending this place to anyone.
La Quinta Pizza
151 Fifth Ave STE B, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
We got take-out pizza from here. Half of the pizza was La Guerra (white sauce) and the other half was Con Todo. The La Guerra pizza is an excellent white sauce pizza; you can feel the creaminess of the sauce with every bite. It has whole roasted garlic cloves, too. Even the crust tastes good! Its a very easy pizza to eat, since the crust is thin enough so as not to be too heavy on the stomach, but its sturdy enough to hold up the pizza so if you pick up a slice you can take a proper bite out of it (as opposed to droopy pizza, if you know what I mean). If I had one small niggle to mention, it would be to add more of the toppings. There was one slice of the La Guerra that had barely any toppings on it.
Taza Deli & Cafe
1796 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
Taza Deli makes the best sandos around. They have the BEST sourdough rolls this side of SF: crunchy, but not too crunchy, on the outside, and soft and sourdoughy goodness interior. The meat, spreads, and veggies are outstanding. Hands down the best sandos on the mid peninsula. The family that operates the deli are sando craftsmen and wonderful people: polite, friendly, welcoming, helpful, positive attitude, always get the order correct, and a pleasure to interact with. I cant say enough great things about this place. Go get a sando from Tazos now!!!!
Burma Spice
490 El Camino Real #140, Redwood City, CA 94062, United States
We live in the neighborhood and this place just opened. Overall good experience. I would recommend and come back. Some of the Burmese classics and others that seemed more pan-Asian. Tastes that made me think I was back in Burma. You can tell theyre still refining some things. The pumpkins pork stew (clearly something thats slow cooked & reheated wasnt heated up enough; but still great taste), The salt and pepper calamari. It was nice and crispy. Well cooked without it being chewy. And a great dipping sauce. However, the batter had very little pepper in it. The Burmese House noodles were delicious. I would recommend getting it with the tofu (they use the bruised kind and it was delicious).Very attentive staff who checked in with you just the right amount.Id recommend coming and supporting this local business.
La Cocina de la Abuela
314 Arguello St, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
My favorite Mexican food around. Everything I've tried is delicious and fresh. I don't eat meat but the fish and vegetarian options have been amazing.I love their fish tacos … fresh fish and the flavors are so fresh with mango and avocado and just the right amount of salsa, so it doesn't cover the flavor of each ingredient which I think that's the problem at some other places. Their aguachiles was mouthwatering and had a nice kick ?️ but they adjusted the spice level to my weak palate ? still had a kick! Their Gordita's was my latest order. They have a vegetarian option with papas and nopales (that option isn't available online but no problem on the phone or in person. I think there are less options online tho). They're also kind and welcoming, great customer service. And todos hablan español y siempre me atienden genial. Will go back anytime I want Mexican food.
