Caf del Soul
1408 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
This place would have gotten 5 stars but they do serve meat so if your a staunch strict vegan/ vegetarian you dont want to eat here. Although they do use to separate cooking utensils and serving devices and such according to the young man at the counter. The owner responded to my Facebook review and I like her I think shes a very good person I think the ideal of this restaurant is very Advanced thinking. I would recommend this place

Extreme Pizza - San Rafael
703 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
They had very moderately priced little special on a slice of signature pie, Fountain soda and small salad. They let me make modifications to the slice, Which initially they made a mistake on putting only the modified requested items on the slice instead of all the other ingredients as well.. They actually brought me the first slice made apologized for messing it up and brought me the second slice as well at no extra charge.. Nobody and I mean nobody does that kind of stuff anymore. Theyd rather throw the first one away and waste it than give it to someone. Im a person who really truly hates to waste food. And I cannot stand when a restaurant would rather do that instead of just pass it on for free. I sat down at their little bar table in the front window and had time To make my mom a lovely beaded. Crystal piece to hang in her window as a late mothers day present. The restaurant was clean the music coming over. The stereo was enjoyable and a perfect volume. There were teenage kids working there obviously enjoying their job and getting it done. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely come back because the food is great

Lotus Cuisine of India

This place is really bad for vegetarian especially if you are going for a lunch buffet. The particulr Friday lunch I went it was Mool ki sabji, Dal palak and mix dal as main vegetarian entree. I guess I was going to a restaurant not a hospital for my meal. Seems chef does not believe in simple food chain. desserts sucked, were out of can stuff. The bill was brought to us with out just first course, though the restaurant wasnt as busy. not sure of the hurry. Was a real ripoff on the money u spent.Rude staff, house flies every where.

Krumbs Cakes came highly recommended. We went in for a tasting for our wedding. I had prefilled an online form with our request prepared to have a sweet time with my groom-to-be. When we arrived for our appointment, they were not expecting us. Miscommunication on their end. I was hoping for a special experience. The person who did the tasting did her best to accommodate considering the miscommunication, which we appreciated. We had a Spanish-themed wedding and requested a ruffle around a three tier cake with one inch polka dots (I showed photos). In order to create the look we wanted for the cake, we needed to go with a fondant icing. Krumbs standard fondant is made with marshmallows. We asked if the gelatin in their marshmallows is vegetarian, they needed to get back to us on that. (Gelatin is made from pig bones. We are vegetarians.) In order to have a vegetarian fondant made for our cake, we were charged an additional $50. I was considering a buttercream frosting per our wedding planner, but it would not create the look we were wanting. When the cake arrived at our wedding, the ruffle was beautiful but the one inch polka dots, were tiny white pearls evenly spaced in a pattern, not what I requested and shared on the form and in my inspiration images. The vanilla cake with raspberry filling tasted amazing (minus the fondant). Our wedding day was beautiful. The cake looked beautiful (our florist crowed the cake with a cascade of gorgeous flowers), it was delivered on time and we all got to enjoy it. The fondant and pearls were not going to change our joy. However, the communication challenges impacted our rating for this review.Photo ©2022 Olivia Smartt Photography San Francisco

Himalayan Kitchen
227 3rd St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
Visited with high expectations. But was a bit disappointing. The menu is pretty overpriced compared to the taste. Picked up the following:1. Pork momo- Decent dumpling size but the momos were little hard.2. Chicken Momo- This was nice. Slow cooked chicken and the momos were tender.3. Classic chicken curry- Disappointing. Very blunt in taste. Chicken felt stale and cooked in a haste. No hint of garam masala, gg paste and aromatic spices.4. Garlic Naan- Soft and tender.5. Dal Soup- This is is horrible. Just boiled yellow lentils with lots of garlic and tomatoes.Avoid if u have other options.**************************************04/09/2023- Sadly couldnt find a better way to reply to this arrogant restaurant owner who forgot his nepali roots I think. I am not spreading misinformation. Buddy, you are so prejudiced that you even took my positive reviews 2,4 and defended yourself against it. I am from a border Indian state to Nepali and I think I know nepalese cuisine better than what you fed me. Yes I could not recognise the carrots in your daal soup as because you boiled it to such an extent that it become tomatoes. Buddy I know nepali style chicken curry. You have to make it with the skin. Anyway you wont understand as your customer base is different and keep them pleased. No point of arguing as I wont return. Loosing one odd customer like me wont make much difference to you I think. Peace out.

Emmas Restaurant
817 Francisco Blvd W, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
My boyfriend and I dined here on a quiet Sunday night. We are both born and raised in SF so we know good Chinese food. We were sad to learn Pings closed but were hopeful that this place would be a good replacement from the menu and reviews. We were so happy to doscover that it is actually an improvement on Pings in terms of portions, quality, and ambiance. We ordered the Westlake Beef Soup which very few Chinese restaurants outside of SF are able to do well and were impressed by how wholesome and substantial it was. Highly recommend if youve never tried Westlake soup. Then we ordered our favorite dish Beef Chow Fun. Often when chow fun is done wrong, it is too greasy but this was not greasy at all. The noodles were not overly seasoned and the portion was huge with plenty of beef. Must order! Finally we ordered the Black Bean Prawns which had a ton of shrimp and perfectly cooked veggies in a savory bold sauce. Could easily be three meals worth! This is our new favorite Chinese restaurant in Marin! We plan to come back regularly and highly recommend you come by yourself. You will be satisfied!

Pho
75 Bellam Blvd Suite I, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
This place makes the BEST PHO I have EVER had in my life!! The broth is seasoned to perfection. The vegetables are always so crisp and fresh! The Daikon is my favorite! The service is absolutely amazing! Fast and efficient and they do not skimp on the bowls!! And all for an EXTREMELY affordable price!! Nothing like all these other overpriced, underseasoned places on Marin. The staff are all so professional, kind, and accomodating. The best part, besides the Pho, is the music and the atmosphere!! A little bit of everything for EVERYONE! Love this place!

Pupuseria Blankita
48b N San Pedro Rd, San Rafael, CA 94903, United States
This place is wonderful. I found them fully by accident - my car overheated at the gas station next store and I was waiting for it to cool down when I had to pee. This little pupusa place had bathrooms for customers, so my friend and I decided to have dinner while we were waiting. The food here is such a surprise, and the staff are a delight. It might not look like much, but this little place is a diamond in the rough. Personally, I thought the refried beans and the bistek entree were really great! Im told the papusas are top notch as well. I came back the next day with my partner because he absolutely had to try it. We ate until we were stuffed, and they even gave us some empanadas to take home and try. Dont miss this place. Its a gem.

New Delhi Indian Cuisine
On the corner of Tamalpias Ave, 704 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
We were very pleasantly greeted by Nala and the gentleman running the restaurant. When you have nice hospitable folks running the restaurant, you feel at home and want to give 5 stars. We tried the buffet and they had a LOT of variety - plenty for vegetarians and meat eaters. They keep meat and vegetarian dishes separate. Every dish we tried was fresh, hot, flavorful and ultra tasty. Ive never seen a restaurant that maintains this level of quality for the buffet. While we were eating Nala and the gentlemen checked on us, brought Naans, Pakoda to the table. You can spot genuinely nice people from a mile away. Highly recommend this awesome place! Go, eat at this wonderful place. Also this place is kinda boutique style, cute, cozy and nice! A+++

Michaels Sourdough Sandwiches
999 Andersen Dr, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
Thank you to the staff at this location for being so patient!I came into the store last week to put in an order for me and my coworkers. It was 11 orders and I could tell they were getting busier by the time I came through. It was before lunch of course, so I apologized and told them I had quite a request. The person who took down my order was very patient and understanding. Once the orders were in, I paid and waited on the side. I noticed the people who came in behind me were getting their sandwiches sooner, which honestly relieved me. I didnt want anyone getting a delay on their personal lunch for my 11 person order. They still finished sooner than I could ever imagine and each order was made to order perfectly. Very tasty sandwiches. Great staff. They seem to have fun with their usuals coming through and were very kind to me as a new patriate. Would recommend.
