Lemonade Restaurant
1661 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291, United States
Hours might need to be reviewed. Came here about a month ago on a Thursday night at 8:35 pm, first time ever yet I've passed it everyday for a year. Had an odd feeling as I looked at the menu closest to the door, employees huddled together looking over their shoulder at me, so I put two and two together and looked at the hours posted on the door...9:05 pm Close...then it was verbally confirmed. Okay, thought I had plenty of time to get something to go as I intended... I walked to the counter and employees quickly disbursed, a new guy walked out from the back shortly there after and offered to help me. I asked for something w/ ahi...they're out...asked for a dish with cauliflower...they're out...this continued till I asked, what did they have? He then proceeded to address each trough of food in an almost militant about face and announce each as he walked down the line leaving me at the ‘order here' sign ...because, I don't play games. I let him know that I thought it was unfortunate that they don't offer a full menu to all guests during business hours and took my business elsewhere. I've been in the game and I can play the game but I have a little more tact. Being Lemonade is corporate I reached out to their regional manager, no names mentioned, kept it simple and suggested an edit to the hours posted here verses there. There was never a follow up on their part, I don't want an apology or anything for free...I just wanted to let them know my experience to help better others'. Lemonade had been highly recommended to me and I was excited to try it but I will never support them, clearly big business doesn't need to care about the quality of a guests entire experience.

Cafe Gratitude
512 Rose Ave, Venice, CA 90291, United States
I cannot say enough amazing things about Cafe Gratitude in Venice. Everyone that works here is so kind and the food is amazing. The gluten free bread is some of the best Ive had, same with the ricotta. My husband isnt vegan or vegetarian and loves it. His favorite is the lions mane brisket (I am Beloved), and mine is the GR toast with ricotta (I Am Resilient). They are also great with takeout and delivery. I have been sick for the past week, and this is the only food I have wanted to eat, and they even accommodated my special requests. By far one of my favorite restaurants!
Annapurna Cuisine
10200 Venice Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232, United States
Annapurna is a decent Indian Vegetarian restaurant. Artesia has much better options for Indian vegetarian food, but if youre looking for something near Culver City/Westwood, its a decent option.Ordered two items:1. Kadai Paneer: Ordered this item alone first. It was very bland. Super disappointed. They also didnt offer it with basmati rice. It almost felt like eating South Indian rice with North Indian curry. Given that their North Indian items were pretty average, decided to try something South Indian.2. Karaikudi Kothu Parotta: Very flavorful and tasty! We loved it actually. Decided that the next time we visit here, well likely only try the South Indian items. The waiters could offer a better ordering experience overall.
Banana Leaf - Indian Restaurant in Culver City
10408 Venice Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232, United States
Leaf Indian specializes in a fixed menu and a rotating seasonal menu of South Indian dish specialties. The owner, a very friendly man named Sri, is proudly bringing South Indian dishes and new tastes to the Los Angeles area that have not been seen here before. One unusual item is the powdered leaf of the tamarind, which is grown for him and imported from India. This is featured prominently in the Tamarind Leaf Dal. He is very eager to offer lots of variety on his seasonal and rotating specials, along with the dishes that will always be available on the menu. All meats are halal.I sampled quite a few of these dishes, and all were easy on a palate, mine, that does not like hot foods, spice-wise.- Two salads: A simple combination of black eye peas, diced cucumber, tomato, red onion and a sprinkling of chat masala and lemon was very clean tasting and pleasant. A pasta salad of vermicelli accented by cilantro, peanuts, fresh curry leaves, and mustard and cumin seed also was light and yummy.- On a riff off onion bajis, the chef fried a long slice of green plantain in baji batter, like an Indian tempura accompanied by a chutney of fresh grated coconut, cilantro, tamarind and chile.- I LOVED the dry style Chicken 65 dish, which has a crunchy coating (and the secret ingredient there is corn starch); kind of like air fried buffalo wings. There is also a wet style which includes a chunky, herby glaze. Sri mentioned that all the meats they serve are marinated for 24 hours first, and that is what keeps them so moist.- I have also sampled another dish that is a WINNER - the Hyderabad Tilapia Filet, with a crunchy Baja-Fish style coating but topped with a sauce of yogurt, curry masala, onion, cumin and coriander.- Rojan Josh made with goat sukka, a stew from the Andhra Pradesh region, includes cashews and mild curry saucing.- There is a wide selection of different Biryanis, including chicken, goat, another kind of goat called Dindigul, and paneer cheese. A specialty is the - -Dindigul Biryani including a special rice (not Basmati) cooked with goat, and including a whole hardboiled egg. This is a meal in itself. If dal is your thing, they offer a large assortment: toor dal, mango toor dal, dal makhani, and tamarind leaf dal.We finished our lovely meal with sweet rasmalai cake and gulub jamon cake - both variations on the usual deserts and his creation. The restaurant is new so a bit unfinished décor-wise, but this is a small, casual anytime you want great South Indian food spot to visit over and over. Pricing is low for the high quality, with all dishes less than $15. Get it while you can!
Greenleaf Kitchen & Cocktails
1239 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291, United States
My wife and I discovered Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop by accident, when we weren’t able to get into one of the more popular restaurants nearby in the available time that we had. There was no line at Greenleaf on Saturday night, when we were there, to order at the counter and plenty of available seating in the brightly lit dining room in the back, as well as in the more comfortably lit bar area behind the counter and bar. We were looking for a more traditional order from the waiter at a table experience, but we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome quality and taste of the food that we received at this counter order joint.I ordered from the build your own entrée menu, and chose marinated tofu as the main, along with faro risotto, and green beans with shallots as my two sides. Everything on the plate was truly delicious. The tofu had a nice charr to it and, although I would have liked the marinade it was cooked in to be a little bit more present, its still had a decent and satisfying flavor. The faro risotto was absolutely the star of the plate with a very nice savory cheese flavor running through it. The green beans, especially mixed with the shallots tasted, great as well. The green beans were perfectly cooked too - just as crispy/fresh as I like them to be.My wife had the La La bowl with faro, quinoa and vegan nacho cheese which she thought was very good, filling bowl, and delicious. It also contained quinoa, black beans, corn, tomato, avocado and baby kale, along with a dressing that a little bit of a spicy kick to it.There are plenty of other vegetarian options to choose from including seasonal specials like baked butternut mac & cheese, paleo cauliflower rice, salads, bowls, a flatbread and much more. So if youre a vegetarian youre definitely not going to go hungry here at The Green leaf Gourmet Chopshop. They also have seasonal cocktails and, unfortunately, they were out of the Apple Caramel Mule which is what I wanted, and which sounded absolutely delicious. That was a bit of a bummer since it was fairly early on a Saturday night that they were already out of this particular item. I still wanted a cocktail though and ended up with the Fig and Lemon. This is made with fig jam, and bourbon. It was sweet-ish and well mixed, with a little bit of the visual element of, what Im guessing were, seeds from the fig jam mixed in with it. It did the job it was supposed to and made me happy. The service was also very quick which was unfortunately for us a requirement of the evening as we had to be an event with a hard start time (which is why we didnt end up waiting for a table at the nearby restaurant that we first went to.) Though it was slightly awkward that the food came out before the cocktail. I would imagine most people, myself for sure, would want to start on the cocktail and enjoy that in a leisurely fashion before the food comes out. Also the bar table we sat and wasnt clean and had food on it, but it was the only available table in the bar area so its where we chose to say it. The dining room in the back had plenty of seating but it was way too brightly lit for dinner, we thought. It took us a while to get the attention of someone to clean the table for us, and when they eventually did they actually didnt do a very thorough job and left bits of food from the previous diners right in front of me on the table top. That was disappointing and I ended up just cleaning it myself with a napkin, and it didnt really affect my enjoyment of the food. There are some great restaurants on Abbot Kenny - some super fine dining and popular options which we love to eat at, but in a time crunch and knowing that we’ll get delicious food with lots of vegetarian, and gluten-free options, we wouldnt hesitate to come to Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop again.

It’s hard to find yummy indian fast-food spots. Usually they are sit down restaurants, and though the beloved Indian buffet allows you to get food to go, it can be pricey. This is an Indian market that sells prepared food. It is very reasonably priced and the food tastes good. It’s mostly vegetarian dishes, rices, curries, lentils and such. They have good samosas that are big and vegetable pakora. Can’t forget the condiments: tamarind chutney and green chutney. I love being able to try several different dishes on one plate, so this place is great because they have combination plates and you can get bread, samosa/pakora, and a lassi (depending on what size combo you get). For those of you that get frustrated at restaurants because you only have the option of getting one big entree but want to try several things, this would be a good place to go. The downside is that they don’t have the Indian favorites like Tikka Masala, Lamb vindaloo, or palaak paneer. It’s more of a casual eats kind of place, to get Indian staple dishes but every Indian dish is flavorful so you can’t go wrong with even the most basic of dishes. It is a very small market, but like any Indian market in the city they pack all that they can, (and all that you need really) into a convenience store size space. Bulk basmati and jasmine rices, all the spices, sauces, frozen items like naan, samosas, and dinners, chai and masala teas, and several other things. They also, as its name implies, sell Indian desserts/sweets. Quite contrary to my feelings about the food, I’m not a fan of indian sweets so I have never tried any of their’s and can’t report on whether they’re good or not.
Candle Cafe & Grill
325 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291, United States
I went there today with my husband and kids. Was sat rather quickly had our waitress take our drink order within the first 3 minutes from when we arrived which was great. 10 mins passed after our drink orders were taken so I took my daughter to use the restroom and wash her hands (the door was broken by the way so my daughter and I had to take turns holding the door so no one would walk in on us). When I returned I noticed a tray of drinks in the table in front of us and it just sat there, I also noticed a family getting sat inside and another family getting sat next to us. Then the waitress showed up maybe 10 minutes later and it turned out those drinks were ours. The ice had alrady melted, the soda was flat. She also forgot my husbands soda and straws. She started to take our order when she realized we needed straws so she excused herself to go get some, even though we suggested that the straws could wait. She did not return after that. We noticed both families who got there 15 mins after we did getting their food. It had been at least 50 minutes at this point and our order had yet to be taken. My husband had to go inside to look for her to remind her we were still there and she still took her time to get to us. She never apologized for the inconvenience. The owner passed by several times also and never asked if we needed anything. I would not recommend this place the service was horrible the menu is over priced and the place seriously needs some maintenance. For crying out loud how do u have a womans restroom with NO LOCK!!!

Absolutely delighted with my beef wellington. A friend recommended this on a recent trip to Palm Springs and honestly the pictures don't do it justice. Mouthwatering, juicy steak as soft as butter and delicate, crisp pastry with just the right amount of crunch! Cannot wait to return and order again!
