The Curry Pizza Company 6
376 S Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
First off, the pizza was delicious. I called in an order and an answer service recommended ordering online or stay on the line for placing order over the phone. So I tried going online to order but there was too many options of add this or delete that I was confused and not willing to mess up the intended taste of the pizza. I Decided to call back and just order the Butter Chicken pizza how they designed it. Im familiar with eating butter chicken at Indian cuisine restaurants and though there are different styles, my pizza didnt have the flavor I expected(chicken sauced up with Indian butter sauce). There was plain chicken and like a real(stick) butter flavor type of sauce in place of a traditional Italian marinara on the dough. Not the type of orange, sweet curry type of sauce at Indian cuisine restaurants.Other than that, I really enjoyed the unique flavors/spices and topping combinations they chose for the chicken curry pizza. Price was fair, but I was disappointed seeing all the extra meat that use to come on the pizza 8 months ago in the reviews. If Im ever in the area again with people who never tried this place, I will surely treat them to a uniquely different experience and visit again.

Cocina Oaxaquea
3943 Walnut Dr, Eureka, CA 95503, United States
Ray, his wife and his waitress give his customers excellent service. Good flan, chicken molé, enchiladas, quesadillas, and breakfast is good, as well. Ray makes his own delicious corn tortillas, so soft and yummy. Good espresso, everything Ive had here is super delicious. My son loves the tortas, and breakfast burritos. My sister said her breakfast burrito was the best shes had. The green salsa, which Ray makes is delicious. I usually have him grill me a chili ?️ or two. Since I can only pick whether I had breakfast, lunch or dinner, I chose breakfast, but Ive had lovely dinners here, as well. Cant say enough great things about this little Oaxacan restaurant, except I wish they were open more. Laura A.
Heartland Cafe & Mart
152 Pierre Rd, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Unlike other vegetarian restaurants, this place offers healthy food. Its not oily at all. Lots of vegetarian places will imitate the taste or the shape of meat to attract vegetarians, but its unnecessary to me. I rather have the original food taste.Love the bento lunch deals and a variety of options. One main entree with side veggies and rice/noodle. Not a large portion but definitely enough for one person.
Clearwater Bagel
20747 Amar Rd #1, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
The best bagels ever. Clearwater had been around for over 20 years and I started coming here since I was in high school. Even when I moved away, when I was ever back in Walnut, I would stop by. The offering of bagel flavors have definitely expanded over the years. Not only are their bagels perfect in bite, chewiness, texture, all their flavors really deliver and pack a punch. Savory or sweet, theres a flavor for just about everyone. I recently tried the honey and the aloha. Sooooo good!!! They also make killer bagel sandwiches. Open faced and traditional. My old time favorite is no longer on the menu (bring back the Birds Nest please) but it just shows theyre innovating all the time. Love bagels? Try Clearwater. Youre in for a treat! What a gem of a place in small city of Walnut.Tip: Look them up before you go. They have like 30+ bagel flavors! Also so you can check their most current Covid-19 protocols.
Grand Island Mansion
13415 Grand Island Rd, Walnut Grove, CA 95690, United States
If theres a grander word than Grand then thats the word that describes Grand Island Mansion. Being an old Hollywood boy now 72 this castle in the air has rich historical pertinence. The roads into the lush property that sits down below the levee alongside the Sacramento River are two. Tongue in cheek Ill report the road to Grand Island Mansion Suri put us on in my dear friends new shiny black Mercedes Sedan is an extremely rocky road. The narrow road winds over Hill and dale with plenty of sharp swerves and its full of various pot holes, some the size of a Jacuzzi, expect this nightmare/daymare to last almost right up to the fancy front gates to the mansion. If you take this route in which is a scenic drive beginning on the levee road at Isleton, youll see scattered farming communities, beautiful old Delta Victorian homes nestled there in the peat dirt backwoods of Walnut Grove. When we arrived after the treacherous drive I thought it wouldnt have been as bad if I had only taken a handful of Dramamine. Freeway5 is the fastest most suitable route to Grand Island Mansion. You take the Walnut Grove exit, turn towards the river and keep driving until you see the sign for GIM. Arriving you are suddenly in view of a sea of towering Italian cypresses. Then right smack in the middle of those tall trees sits in all her ivory glory elegant historical Grand Island Mansion. Breathtaking it is.. suddenly you may hear yourself saying gee am I dressed appropriately for this palace? Sunday brunch is what we came for and we were soon seated at our table by a beautiful hostess dressed in white frilly finery. Reservations are required although we didnt know that and still this marvelous hostess said follow me. Long story short so not to spoil the many surprising discoveries you will make after brunching on exquisite prime rib and a host of exotic entrees and divine desserts, all you can eat for $49. Grand Island Mansion was a home away from home for the Lewis W Meyers family, doubled as a duck hunting lodge, not to down play such elegance. Hollywoods elite classic film stars such as Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, Edith Piaf often stayed there just to name a few. You will see their names affixed to the doors to their private changing rooms nearby the magnificent outdoor pool just beyond the ballroom. The upstairs bedroom suites are stunning to say the very least, each one adjoined by incredibly large gorgeous bathrooms the size of Texas, all bedrooms lavishly furnished having verandas overlooking lush green gardens. A spacious theater is a must see, to think Gable and Dietrich kicked back in that theater gave me the goose bumps. The entire time we were walking the hallways and grounds of Grand Island Mansion our jaws were dropped never returned to their rightful positions until we returned to Stockton ?. The rich history of the Meyer family that built this castle in the air is riveting. When the stock market crashed in 39 the home built for duck hunting expeditions by the ultra wealthy family overnight belonged to the family no more. Its definitely a sad sad story. Over the years since the great depression many twists and turns the property has seen. Today the mansion is owned and managed impeccably to please the public, Im trying not to write a novel here. ? The full history along with stunning pictures any one of you can Google and read about. Right up channel across the river from the Grand Island Mansion sits The Ryde Hotel another eye pleasing historical building from a long gone era. It was once owned by horror movie star Lon Chaney (The Wolf Man). I give Grand Island Mansion not a 5 star rating but a 10 star rating. Its quite spectacular, sitting out there in the middle of nowhere along the aged levee road in Walnut Grove, who knew? GjF
Haleluya Ethiopian Gourmet
4144 Walnut Ave, Fremont, CA 94538, United States
The restaurant serves very delicious food. They have a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes which can be served either mild or spicy. Solomon, the owner, is very patient and welcoming. If you are new to Ethiopian cuisine he can explain the options for you. The restaurant setting is very clean and simple. I noticed that the owner knows sign language which would be very helpful for members of the deaf community ordering here. I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I had a very pleasant meal here and plan to return.
25 Degrees Huntington Beach
412 Walnut Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
I am absolutely so upset with this place. This is the second time we have not been treated accordingly by the establishment. On Saturday, March 2nd we had friends come in from Anaheim. They arrived downtown before us so they picked 25°, with what had happened to me last time I would've never went back .But thee were already seated and had ordered a drink so we met them there About 3:45- 4 PM. We all ordered food, . We also split the chili so we could all have a small cup and we ordered an appetizer and half fries half onion rings . At about 6:45 they left and some other friends joined us since there was a small musician/band playing we stayed to listen to the music at about 9 PM 930 I was informed by the bartender that we were cut off, mind you we are almost 50 years old and locals to HB. I wasn't aware of this until I went up to buy the singer a beer that is when the bartender informed me that we were not to be served anymore. I said why ? and he said my manager Noah said that you have been here all day and haven't eaten (I did not see nNoah there during the day when we ate ) I said actually we've been here since four and we ate over $100 worth of just food between four of us which isn't hard to do there. They said you cannot just keep hanging out here drinking without eating. I explained again that we had already eaten. At that point I was so upset. I said we will leave, there was about eight of us at this point, and I said I will happily go give our money to another establishment downtown, any of them could use it. Even the man that was singing confused as we were leaving he said “we will see you all around somewhere soon” thanked us for supporting him, and he shook his head in disbelief. Noah was rude unprofessional, and did not have his facts straight before he decided to cut off that many people. I will not be going back to this place, I would advise anyone in town to choose somewhere else. I honestly can't even remember if ever there has been a time I've been cut off at a bar/restaurant. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Arslans Turkish Street Food
113 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, United States
I LOVE ARSLANS. This is my favorite restaurant in downtown Santa Cruz. They have THE BEST falafel in all of Santa Cruz. Nick The Greeks food doesnt even come close to the quality of the food here. Arslans also has amazing vegetarian options. My favorite vegetarian dish is their falafel wrap with extra cacik (yogurt) sauce on the side. Their Turkish coffee is also delicious and even comes with a free piece of Turkish delight. I also highly recommend their balaclava. But all their food is great so just order what you want lol.
Aroma Craft Coffee
20265 East Valley Blvd Ste Q, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
My favorite place to have brunch whenever Im in the area. I love the whole vibe of the cafe/coffee shop and the servers are always so polite and helpful. Its definitely an experience that you dont normally get in coffee shops. Their food and drinks are delicious and very reasonably priced. I wish I lived closer so I could visit every week. You order and pay at the counter and take a seat at any available table either indoors or outdoors. It does get pretty crowded on the weekends pretty fast, so if you want an indoor table, Id suggest coming early. During my second visit, I had ordered a strawberry ice cream cake as my choice of dessert. Halfway through my meal, they realized that they had been out of that but it was not communicated to me when I had paid. They apologized and I was understanding, so I picked the other dessert choice that I had in mind. Maybe it was because we were so understanding and nice about it, or their service is just that superb, but they felt so apologetic that they gave us an additional dessert on the house. It was a very kind gesture of them even though we had reassured them that the little mistake was fine. Its rare to see such great level of service like that these days. If youre looking for a cozy spot to eat brunch or catch up with family and friends, I highly recommend this spot. You wont be disappointed with their food, drinks, and of course, service!|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G ||-Located in a business complex next to We Love Broth-Cross Streets are Valley Blvd and S Lemon Ave.-Plenty of parking throughout the business complex. It does get packed so you may need to park a little further for a spot during peak hours.|| F O O D / D R I N K S ||Mushroom Toast - So darn delicious! Theres a generous amount of sauteed mushrooms on top of the toast. Perfect for mushroom lovers. I got this again for my second visit because I couldnt stop thinking about it!Smoked Salmon Benedict - Reasonably priced compared to other nearby brunch places that serve the same thing. A good amount of smoked salmon per benedict. Simply delicious!Taiwanese Sausage Panini - Who knew Taiwanese sausages in a panini would be a delightful combo? The panini was warm and crisp on the outside. It was very addictive to eat. It makes me want to try the other Taiwanese Sausage entrees the next time. The Aroma Trio - Definitely recommend this if its your first time or youre unsure which dessert to try first. Its a three flavored mousse cake, and one of these flavors is hopefully bound to be one of your faves. I was pleasantly surprised by the pumpkin one. I was glad the pumpkin flavor wasnt overbearing with spices youd find when tasting a pumpkin pie. The coffee flavored cake was good and was my favorite. Not too sweet. The raspberry was good, but a little too sweet (compared to the other two) for my liking.Blueberry Cheesecake - Comes with the blueberry sauce on the side. Its a beautiful slice of cheesecake, and whats even better is that its so delicious and addictive. Luckily, the cheesecake and the sauce arent too sweet. What I find with blueberry desserts is that it may run a little sweet but I was glad to know it wasnt the case here. I can see why its a popular choice!Rose Latte & Lavender Latte - Not too sweet and overbearing with floral flavor. The coffee flavor is somewhat strong for me.*All Drinks come with these homemade crackers with jam (?) Super delicious and a nice addition with your drink.
Firefly Tavern Santa Cruz
110 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, United States
Sunday July 16. My husband and I decided to give Firefly a try after a morning of Refrigerator shopping. The good/Great: Ambience is nice. Not too crowded, or too noisy. Really nice background music. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and shared it. It was SO GOOD. Whatever they used for the batter on the chicken was delightfully crispy. The waffle stayed semi-crisp from start to finish. I highly recommend this but it seems to only be available on the weekends. Were looking forward to coming back to try something else on the menu. Things that could use some improvement: When we arrived at just after 12:30 we were able to be seated almost immediately. Then we waited for 10-15 minutes before we could even get a cup of water. The water was room temp. Slightly chilled would have been better. I love the little glasses it came in :) Once we got our water we waited about another 10-15 minutes or so before the gentlemen came back to take our order at which time we waited another 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. By this time it was pleasantly but not extraordinarily busy. The gentlemen was nice and very apologetic about the delays so we arent going to hold it against him, but we hope service gets better as this nice new place gets a little more into the swing of things. Despite the slow service we really enjoyed our meal and highly recommend you give Firefly a try.
