Asian Box

Absolutely love every meal I have from Asian Box! Never dissapointed, and with an entirely gluten free menu, I can bring my partner with cealics disease without having to worry about cross contamination!

Pho Ha Noi
10100 S De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
This Pho restaurant is quite different from many others I have been to. This restaurant seems to be better managed systematically. The decor is more modern, and the staff seems to be more mechanical rather than personal as in most pho restaurants. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. The restaurant seemed rather popular. We went as a party of three around 8pm on a Sunday. The parking lots thirty-some spaces have all been taken. Each of the parking spaces is labeled clearly as for Pho Ha Nois customers. Only one space was left, and it was marked as for Pho Ha Nois manager. This is good and bad. The good thing is the manager, who is probably the owner, cares about visiting the restaurant frequently such that he/she needs a dedicated parking space that is the closest to the front door, except of the two handicap spaces. The bad thing is that the manager puts his own convenience over the customers. One good space can be used by twenty or more customers a day, but the manager wants to keep it vacant most of the time. There were six or so parties waiting in front of us. The waitlist is based on an App on an iPad, which somehow was not plugged in so it was running low in battery. The host did not notice it until 30 minutes after I signed in. We waited for about 12 minutes to get seated. The dining room was very brightly lit, and the tables were bright white, making the whole place daylight bright. The chopsticks provided are disposable type. The napkins are thick (unlike in many pho places). The bean sprouts are self-serve via a station. I saw a staff pouring a new bag of sprouts into the container in the station. The arrangement seemed more sanitary. Imagine bean sprouts provided in regular pho restaurants. You might wonder how the sprouts had been handled in the kitchen. In the case of Pho Ha Noi, they are fresh out of a sealed bag.We ordered pho and spring rolls. The pho was delivered rather expeditiously (almost as fast as in Pho Nam) but our spring rolls were probably forgotten. They were delivered about 8 minutes after I reminded a waiter. The presentation of the pho is nice. The utensils and bowls seemed clean. The soup, however, was too salty compared to other places. The noodle was well spread versus in some other restaurants the noodle stayed in a bundle. It was an okay dining experience. Wished they didnt forget the spring rolls. The prices are a little bit (perhaps 10%) higher than other pho places and the waitline is longer than other pho places.

Lees Sandwiches

One of my favorite restaurants. Delicious food, casual environment. Good choices for my whole family. I love the chicken, rice and salad or the over easy eggs sandwich and the blended Vietnamese iced coffee is delicious.

Pho Hoa Jazen Tea (De Anza)
1089 S De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
I tried this Vietnamese restaurant for the first time. The summer roll was good but the peanut sauce seemed to be from a jar, with gummy consistency and not much flavor. The lemongrass chicken had the oddest texture I’ve ever seen on that dish. It was a brown flour coating that was gritty and wasn’t pleasant to eat. It came with vermicelli and some veggies, plus fish sauce. The chicken pieces were also whole, which is hard to eat with chopsticks. I ate a few bites of the chicken and tossed the rest, which was very disappointing.

Pho Hoa Noodle Soup - Homestead
20674 Homestead Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
A typical Vietnamese noodle restaurant. Large hall, placed in a mall area-so parking lot is huge. Service staff is so small that it takes some times to get orders.

Kobe Kitchen
20803 Stevens Creek Blvd #110, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Japanese comes after English.Afuri, which had high expectations but failed to live up to them, has since left.I went to the restaurant that was built on the site of Afuri.Although it calls itself Kobe, it is neither a Japanese restaurant nor a ramen shop, but a pho restaurant. The interior was same as an old Afuri restaurant; I saw the touch panel ordering terminal used at Afuri was still there.I ordered Kobe rare steak pho.The bowl was hot, but the noodle was not firm, the soup was monotonous, and the meat was like overcooked shabu-shabu. To me it was not worth the $15.95.There were also no paper napkins or condiments at the table, so I carried condiments from an empty table next to mine and even got my own glass of water from the counter. This also doesnt seem to be worth the suggested tip start from 15 %.As disappointing as Afuri was, this restaurant was a similar experience to Afuri. Is there some kind of curse on the businesses that enter this building? Oh yes one more thing, the beef was not Kobe beef, of course. Before I knew it, Afuri had closed down, and I went to a restaurant called Kobe Kitchen that had opened on the site. Its not a Japanese restaurant or a ramen restaurant, its a pho restaurant. The inside was almost exactly the same as Afuris, and even the ordering terminal with a touch panel remained. Its not used though. I ordered Kobe rare steak pho. But this is just... The noodles were crumbly and lacked elasticity, the soup was advertised as non-MSG but tasted just like the soup itself, and the meat was like overcooked shabu-shabu meat. Even with inflation, $15.95 is a bit pricey. Also, there were no paper napkins on the table, I had to bring my own condiments from the table next to me, and I had to draw my own water. What do you think about the tip suggestion starting at 15%?Ive never had a good experience at any of the stores in this building, so I wonder if its somehow cursed. And of course it wasnt Kobe beef. Kobe rare steak pho is just a rare steak pho served by a restaurant called Kobe. Do you want to study Japanese?

Local Kitchens

We visited local kitchens in Cupertino based on the invite the Yelp Elite event and we had a very pleasant experience!Let me start with the ordering on their website - multiple restaurants serving some of their favorite dishes ( not all, so some may find their preferred items of the original restaurant here) and you can order from any of their menus in a single order (or not as we chose). I placed an order on the Curry-up Now items while my better half chose items from the menu of the The Little Chihuahua. While I let my wife add her review separately, I will say this much - the food served was fresh and the taste and flavors ar exactly what get at the original restaurant. Ordering was quick, easy and efficient!Next about the drive for pickup - though the location of the Cupertino venue is a tad distance from my place, the drive down Stevens Creek Blvd was not too bad. The road at the point where you arrive at the location actually converts from 2 lanes to single lane and since there is HWY 85 exit/merge just close by, you can get easily distracted and pass the spot. No worries just take a u-turn and come back. It is just beside CityFish, a seafood joint we had visited a while a ago (great Fish n Chips here) and parking may be scarce but easily found around it.Next about the place itself - with no indoor dining option, the inside is huge and empty with plenty of place for social distancing. They have self-order iPad kiosks to one side as well to order while you are there as well. There was a gender neutral washroom at one end which was very distant ( good) from the place of pickup. And yes, there was now-being-served screen to the right of the entry which you can look at and go to the pick up counter when you read your name. Pretty slick, I should say. Finally about the order - spot on time, ready for pick up, stored in warming area until you do and very cleanly packed and sealed for no tampering post packing. I was quickly handed my order and we were off in a jiffy. Very very efficient. Hats off the to professional and friendly staff - Daria and her team there!!The thank you card along with food was nice touch and was happy to see it was not for Yelp Elite orders only. My wife got it too!Food quality was just as good as they serve in the original restaurant. And prices match the value they give and the plentiful options you get due to the menus of different restaurants menus here.I will go back for more and maybe next time to try some their breakfast and snack options! You should go too

Capt Loui
19700 Vallco Pkwy #150, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
We came here for the weekday lunch specials. Even though a lot of them were very tempting, the $11.95 Cajun pasta, $10.95 seafood poboy with fries, I had to get the seafood boiler for my first time, but I definitely have my eye on the fried basket special for next time. The $14.99 seafood boiler includes your choice of 2 types of seafood, one side, and one can of soda. I recommend the mussels; they were huge. The garlic noodles were well-seasoned and a decent size for a side. The food came out fast and the service was friendly. They provide the necessities like gloves, bibs, mints, and mouthwash in the bathroom. The whole place was very comfy and less hectic than most seafood boiler places. They do have a decent selection of beer and soju though, and a cardboard cutout of Jennie.I saw on their napkin holder that they had a promotion going on: if you write a review for them, you can get free funnel fries or beignets.Since my mom is a big fan of funnel cakes, we went for the former. The fries format makes it so much easier to eat and it came with two scoops of ice cream. It came out hot and perfectly oily. The server was trusting enough to get it in the fryer for us before I finished typing this review.

Juniper Hotel Cupertino, Curio Collection by Hi...
10050 S De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Surprisingly I’ve been in this area before, there’s a Vietnamese restaurant next door! I was curious if the hotel would be as pictured and it is, the common areas are nicely decorated (Christmas time) but the rooms were lacking the same lovely decor… it’s just basic room with a nice chaise! Basic bathroom, I didn’t expect to see a bathtub. Lastly the bed sheets are soft!

Lpi Dor Bakery
19675 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Your friendly neighborhood bakery since I was a kid! Im 27, so yes its been around and popular for a long time. In high school a classmate got his lunch from lepidor and everyone was super jealous! Never saw a tastier sandwich in our short time on earth. They have more pastry variety than other Asian bakery chains (like daifuku bread, my current fav). They also have stuff like grass jelly, taro sago dessert, egg pudding etc. frozen chives pockets, green onion pancakes, and more. no walk in cakes right now, and overall price friendly! One note about the 3% credit card surcharge I see others leaving negative comments on - using debit cards or cash will help your dollar go further in support of mom&pops. Credit card companies charge high per transaction fees, especially to smaller merchants (mom&pops) and even more so to lower transaction amounts. Thats generally why you see minimum transaction amount required for card usage elsewhere. Anyways, debit card costs are much much MUCH cheaper for merchants, so feel good youre supporting local business!
