Noahs Vietnamese Fusion Cuisine
1327 W 18th St, Merced, CA 95340, United States
Noahs is my number one Pho spot in Merced and the Central Valley. I have eaten Pho here more than any other Vietnamese restaurant.I first had the combination beef pho, with chicken broth here, and it is all that Ive ordered since, and anywhere else I go. It was that good and left the best impression on me.. The customer service is excellent at anytime of the day and if I ever requested something I needed, I was provided with what I asked for. I always feel welcomed and comfortable at Noahs. I really enjoy the Pho here more than anywhere else in Merced.
Saigon Ph N Sandwich

Like what almost everyone said, if i can give this place no star, i would! My boyfriend and I decided to grab lunch during lunch rush hours. When we got there, there was only one customer, so that makes 3 customers. Customer service was horrible. There was an outlet next to us so i decided to charge my phone. The lady came to our table with waters and then said Oh when you guys charge your phones on these outlets outside here in the lobby, make sure you guys be careful because there was one time when a customer charged his/her phone, it shocked all of our electricity and it went out. Im not the owner here. Yeah because the landlord of this whole building didnt install enough electricity (and then there was this other word she said that i didnt quite understand). So then we didnt say much, we just nodded and i kept my phone charged. That just sounds like the greediest of the greedy excuses ever. If that really is true, why not block your outlets or put up a warning sign about it. So then we went on and ordered 2 bowls of vermacille noodles and 1 Vietnamese sandwich. Dont forget there was only 3 customers, us and 1 other. 10 minutes after we put in our order, the other customer got his bowl of pho. We waited and waited and waited and waited and waited. 30 minutes gone. My bf starts to get hangry (hungry+angry). I told him lets wait a bit more. 4 other customers walk in. 20 minutes gone by! Ok now Im hangry! Ive had it! So we took off! 3 customers only in the damn restaurants to begin with during lunch rush hours and it takes 50 freaken minutes to get our food! Ridiculous! Dont waste your time and money on this place. We left to Thai Cuisine ll and they were busy but we got our food in less than 10 minutes. Now we know why saigon barely has any customer during lunch rush. ?
Mr Pho

I’m in Merced for college currently. And I’ve eaten at the other Vietnamese places here which weren’t very authentic and catered to American taste. I thought I had to make my own Pho to feel at home but this place opened up. The price for how much they give is incredible. The amount of meat they give in the beef pho bowl blows my mind. The ingredients they use are also wonderful quality. As a Vietnamese from the Bay Area, I KNOW what’s good and this place is. This restaurant is comparable to all the famous pho places in San Jose. Sooo worth it for the price they give cuz the Bay Area would be charging 20+. Merced FINALLY gets quality food and an Asian restaurant that knows what they’re doing. I can’t wait to come here everyday now ????

Donut Kings

I went around 1:30 pm.I went to pick up an order my brother called in over the phone for two sandwiches and a drink.Their donuts are so soft and taste fresh. I had a glazed donut today. I would return for the donut itself. The sandwiches are always delicious. I get the bbq pork sandwich. It is also spicy. The bread is always a good crunch to bite into and not hard at all.I tried their vanilla chai with boba today, and I was pleasantly surprised. Its really yummy, and I would have it again. I can definitely taste both flavors.Customer service is always great. They are super helpful and nice.Other drinks I dont care for like their honeydew blended drink with boba. The atmosphere is okay. I usually just pop in to grab my food to go :)
New Thai Cuisine
909 W 16th St, Merced, CA 95340, United States
I really enjoy New Thai Cuisine. Most of the time we order take out and pick it up. This time we came to dine in around 630. Tonight happened to be a busy night (Friday and the first). We didnt have to wait too long for a table and were informed that food was taking 15 to 30 minute wait. We did not mind waiting bc we know the food is really good. We ordered an orange chicken, pad Thai, and fried rice. Fifteen minutes later the waitress came over and was real sympathetic about their rice maker not coming properly. We ended up ordering bed and broccoli and instead of sticky rice we got steamed vegetables instead. I must say that I was extremely happy with the broccoli and beef, it had lots of garlic and I could taste the fish sauce and the steamed veggies were delicious. The shrimp pad Thai was wonderful as was the orange chichen, as it always is. This is a place that my picky eater 13 year old will eat at. The three dishes and a soda was a whopping $35, you cant beat that! We even had left overs! We will definitely be returning.
Coconut Cafe
3368 N State Hwy 59 STE N, Merced, CA 95348, United States
Pho broth was tasteless. Broth was not made properly—nothing more than salty water. Def not cooked as bone broth should be. Super disappointed. I understand that it is a Thai restaurant and I should have ordered better and stuck to the Thai curries. Pho should no be on the menu as it shortchanges the Vietnamese cultural dish from its original amazingness.Portions are very small. Service is limited and cannot be attentive beyond taking the order, delivering food and printing the check.
Banana Island
273 Lake Merced Blvd, Daly City, CA 94015, United States
This place feigns importance nor does not respect a customers allergies! A lot of room for opportunity for their customer service and follow-up.We ordered the salted cabbage and bean curd soup (Did not specify it had shrimp on the menu, and I am moderately allergic to shrimp). When the soup came out, we politely asked our server (bald headed guy) if they could change the soup since I mentioned I was allergic to shrimp. The new bowl of soup came back suspiciously quick, and to my fear when I was halfway thru my cup there was a little shrimp piece- seems like they just scooped out the shrimp from the previous bowl!I work in hospitality, and I RARELY complain if I find customer service in a place I visit low-tier. Of course when our server stopped-by I let him know of the situation and apologized, however no follow-up from him after, did not even ask how I was doing if I am having allergic reactions (or dying!).My friends noticed he spoke to a lady in a suit and another server in glasses, because all three of them were looking at our table, and we thought there would be a follow-up from them, but nope! Did not even comp anything and charged us the full check.I only had mild allergic reactions, itching and mild swelling of my lips—— BUT, What if someone else is SEVERELY ALLERGIC to shrimp? Do better Banana Island management!!
Houakhong Restaurant

Weve gone a four times, and each time it got worse. This last time was the absolute worst service I have ever received. When we came in there was a party of 12 and us (2 and child). Right after we ordered an appetizer the large party received their food, so they werent really holding anything up for us.We ordered our food and a hot tea. The foot came in a timely manner, but the hot tea took 40 minutes. We never received a refill on our waters, and waited about twenty minutes for our server to come back so we could get boxes. There was a lot of noise coming from the front room, so I figured they were busy. I eventually went to the front to ask for a few boxes, and I was right they were busy. The two servers were busy chatting loudly with some guy who brought in KFC. I asked for boxes and went to pack up. My husband went to ask for a to go cup for his hot tea, and the server rolled her eyes at him. When I asked for a manager, it was made clear there was none. I proceeded to tell the servers about how awful their service was, and how unhappy I was. Ive been in the restaurant business since I was knee high, and this is not how you handle an upset customer. She laughed at me, and when I told her I would not be coming back she told me, Thats fine.To be clear, I dont expect a lot. I expect to see my server at least once or twice during the meal, to see other tables bussed (not left piled high with dirty dishes for an hour), and when there is an issue to see it acknowledged. I didnt even wanna refund, I wanted them to acknowledge their rudeness and apologize (at the very least).Never coming back, and with service like that Im surprised its still open.
