Nams Red Door Vietnamese
2253 S Pacific Ave, San Pedro, CA 90731, United States
Small place on 23rd and Pacific in San Pedro. Normally this kind of place you drive by. But do yourself a favor theyre open for lunch and dinner only and got to stop and eat because you keep coming back.Ive been eating there for 35 years. The owner is the chef right there in front of you. Snow does all her own prep work. Her son is the waiter and handles the counter and register. Pretty much a two-person show. They have an appetizer called Imperial Rolls, Almost every person that comes in orders this appetizer. Cant explain it its just fantastic. Its like an egg roll that you wrap in lettuce and cucumber cilantro and mint dip it in a fish sauce, and when you bite down on it, you get a hot Crunchyroll wrapped with lettuce and the cucumber and herbs inside. Plan flat just good. There dinner dishes are put together with chicken or pork or beef or shrimp. You put these dishes together with different sauces and Seasonings, with some rice, noodles, fried noodles and vegetables. Hot dishes, curry dishes, fried rice and daily specials. If you like this style of food youll love this place.

This is for Pad Thai only, did not have anything else but the Thai Tea which was just your average tea.I was encouraged by the glowing review from someone about the Pad Thai but heres my take. To start lets establish the fact that it is not bad, I wouldnt discourage anyone from ordering it but be prepared to let them know how spicy you want it, or if you dont want it spicy.Ive been eating spicy food all my life so it doesnt bother me but we were not prepared for how spicy it would be, no one even asked us so we assumed it would be non spicy like every restaurant weve had it at. My wifey doesnt really like spicy food so it was not enjoyable at all for her. If you dont eat spicy food dont forget to tell them or else youre going to be sad.Besides that it was good enough, I dont like the wide noodles but thats a personal preference. It has some kind of fishcake in lieu of tofu maybe its a Vietnamese fishcake? Interesting. Im snacking on the leftovers as I write this at 1am so theres definitely something I like about it, almost like a different dish, like if a cook from another SE country made it...hmm wonder why... ;)

Everything good, except the waitress went all the way outside of the restaurant where we were parked just to tell us why we didn’t leave her a tip? my fellow friend if you reading this it is not obligatory to leave a tip you leave a tip if you want to, which we always do In consideration of the waitress and the service served, now listen we did leave a tip.. it was 1.75 not a lot but still is a tip, reason for leaving 1.75 we didn’t carry any more cash and since they don’t accept credit cards that’s all we could do leave $1.75. However that’s doesn’t give the waitress the right to go and demand for more and say the American culture this and that ... I have had Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese etc people leave a $1 so with that being said don’t EVER DO THIS AGAIN! Is not professional at all and don’t speak good about the restaurant, we already felt bad about leaving $1.75 cents and with her going after us for a tip we felt even worse. If your salary is not enough u depend on tips I suggest the owner do something.

Great spot! Chill vibe, has an outdoor stage and seating with live music (not sure how often it happens), and also has indoor seating at the various restaurants and in-between areas.Cant speak for every restaurant, but it seems you can take food and drinks from any of them to anywhere else in the Square. Pretty cool. Buddy and I got burgers (to-go) from one spot and took them to a beer spot to get drinks and eat. Afterward, we took our drinks and walked freely around the Square (bartender told us its fine to do).Food was delicious at the spot we went to, and so were the drinks. Lots of options... burgers, Vietnamese, Mexican, pasta, and more. ?Oh! And its a dog-friendly area - both indoors and outdoors. ?

Baramee Thai Restaurant
354 W 6th St, San Pedro, CA 90731, United States
Clarifying that the one star is for the chicken pho, would give 0 stars if possible. Weve been to Baramee several times over the years and were usually happy with the quality of their thai food. There are no Vietnamese restaurants in Pedro unfortunately so we decided to try the pho from Baramee, big mistake. The broth looked and tasted like dirty dishwater and the chicken was dry and rubbery. The condiments couldnt even help. It was so bad we had to pull out the chicken bouillon and chinese 5 spice to make it edible. For 17$ its incredibly disappointing. I understand Baramee is a Thai restaurant so maybe they should take the Vietnamese dishes off the menu or learn how to make them.

My family was trying to find something to eat during a layover at 10pm on a Saturday night, and were delighted to see that there was a Japanese restaurant open. It was pretty busy so we were looking forward to trying it.I got the nabeyaki udon. The soup was normal and the noodles were cooked as you would expect. What I really liked were the seafood toppings. The scallop was really plump and tender. The shripm tasted a bite under-seasoned but the texture was good. The salmon (which Im not used to having in udon) was really perfectly cooked and very tender/melt-in-your-mouth. The fish cakes and other toppings were good as well. Overall this was a surprisingly good dish for airport food that doesnt break the budget. We also got the tempura udon and tonkotsu ramen. The tempura udon was not as good as the nabeyaki -- the tempura coating is quite thick so its hard to taste whats inside. We ended up taking off a lot of the tempura, especially for the big broccoli piece. The ramen I didnt eat as much of but I heart that it was pretty good with a good soup base and lots of noodles. We also got the sushi combo. I tried the spicy tuna roll and it was actually quite good with a good kick to it. My brother seemed to enjoy the other pieces as well.Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this restaurant given the time and that it was airport food. If I were in SFO again and needed food this would be a solid option. Of course this is not the type of restaurant Id choose to go to out in the wild but for an airport its quite good and hits the spot. My brother gave it an 8.7/10.
