Love having a fair priced Vietnamese restaurant in 10 minutes driving distance! I order a beef pho nearly every time I go here and its always great. I would also recommend trying their spring rolls, and ordering tea. The service is always fast and friendly.

Golden Era 1
842 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
There are already a number of really good Vietnamese restaurants in San Rafael. How did we get so lucky?Golden Era 1 adds to this line up and offers something different. The menu is not as extensive or as typical as other American Vietnamese restaurants, but the food feels very home style in a great way! Everything Ive tried has been delicious.Im not Vietnamese, but it really feels like you are having an amazing home cooked meal. The dishes are so hearty and comforting. Everything tastes like it was made with TLC.Ive tried the Beef Rib Soup, Combo Beef Soup, a special spicy Beef Soup, Beef Shank Stew, Shrimp Fried Rice, Grilled Chicken, Pork Rib Barbecue, and Korean Beef Barbecue. Im pretty sure the last two arent traditionally Vietnamese, but the chef includes Vietnamese tasting herbs and sauces with them, and I really enjoyed the fusion. If you have the Pho, the broth tasted clean and not overly salty. Just the right amount of flavor so you can really pick up the flavors of the fresh herbs that accompany the dish.If I had a gun to my head Id pick the Beef Shank Stew as my favorite, but I still have not worked my way through the menu yet.The food speaks for itself. Do not look this one over.

TuTu Lounge
1335 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
This place was absolutely incredible. I was looking for a delicious breakfast place anywhere in Marin that didnt just serve basic diner food, and preferably somewhere we hadnt been before. I found TuTu after quite a while scrolling and knew right away that that was the place to try, and boy am I glad we did.Firstly, I absolutely love that they have a huge focus on breakfast. Im a big breakfast person and being able to walk in at noon and be able to order anything on the menu (which was 80% breakfast items) was a dream. Im they are now beginning to serve dinner, and they did have plenty of lunch options if breakfast isnt your thing. The menu selection was amazing - they had 6 or 8 different kinds of eggs benedict (all of which sounded delicious), as well as a few other twists on breakfast classics that all sounded interesting. We ended up getting the croffle (croissant waffle) with berries and the parmesan french toast. The croffle was divine with plenty of fruit, and my partner was pleasantly surprised by the parmesan french toast, which was served with bacon bits and a lovely bechemel sauce. Not only the food, but the drinks were absolutely top-notch. We got the mocha (which was made with dark chocolate; YUM) and the ube (taro) latte. Ive only ever had ube in a cold beverage so was excited to try it hot and I could not get over how delicious it was. If it werent for the fact I drink slowly, I would have ordered a second, and then probably a third. The staff was attentive, and friendly, the place had lovely decoration and a welcoming ambiance, and the food presentation easily matched its taste.Im not sure how long TuTu has been open but Im glad I found it, as it instantly became a new favorite. Make a stop here whenever youre nearby - you wont be sorry!

Laos Kitchen
887 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
There are no Laos restaurants in Marin County.Love their fried chicken appetizers and Laos jerked beef with sticky rice and dipping sauce.Started with the Lemon tea which was awesome, and the passion fruit drink was amazing. They serve Lao Beer, you should try it. Taste like Corona.Their papaya salad was a perfect blend of sweet/sour/spicy. As a Laos/ Chinese American, it was the closest you can get without going to Laos. I encourage you to visit Laos.Their sticky rice wasnt dried at all even when cooled which tells me it was steamed fresh. We also had the Pad Se Ew with Shrimp, which was moist, and the shrimp was cooked just right. The texture was the same as the noodle, soft and moist. We also had their Larb, just like the salad was the perfect blend of spices. The vegetable garnishes were perfect and crunchy. There were a couple of dishes like the bamboo salad also good with sticky rice and a steamed pork sausage also went well with sticky rice. After our meal, we ordered sticky rice with ice cream topped with a coconut sauce that was drizzled on top that married the two very well.I encouraged anyone to try it. The place is spacious, well-decorated, and chill. The bathrooms are very clean and decorated.
