Pho Ha plus Vietnamese Cuisine
21090 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
I really like the place. Quiet and calm, there were no people yelling at each other like in typical Vietnamese restaurants. Service was quick and the server was attentive. We ordered no 1 and no 46 with spring roll as appetizers. The price was higher than other pho restaurant but the meat and other topping inside our dish was a lot more too, so it’s worth it. No 46 dish was pleasantly delicious, the veggies/salad was cold and fresh, and the meat topping was packed with lots of flavor. Definitely will come back soon.

Im going to preface this review by stating that Im Vietnamese American, born and raised in Orange County, in the heart of Little Saigon. Needless to say, it is really hard to find good Vietnamese restaurants outside of the county. That being said, I was skeptical to try this place, and Im glad I did, because trời ơi! People are really missing out. I walked in and could immediately tell that the food was going to be good, based on the Vietnamese drama playing in the background, and Vietnamese music, but wanted to keep my hopes down. Walking in, the place feels like any old mom and pop shop back at home.I ordered the Phở Đặc Biệt and was immediately impressed with the smell. Upon first sip of the soup, I was floored. The phở is as good as when my bà ngoại makes it. The only thing though, is there is very little cilantro and very little râu thơm, but all is forgiven considering the taste is exceptional.I also ordered the large cà phê sữa đá and its pretty strong. Good, but my personal preference is sweeter. This is more akin to what my own dad would like, but that just means its authentic.Im so glad I gave this place a try. Rất ngon!
Mr. Pho California Kitchen - Walnut
505 N Grand Ave Suite G, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Best Vietnamese restaurant around the area! Love Pho here. They made the soup so savory and tasty. There’s so much meat in 1 bowl and the portion of everything else is big. The back ribs were cooked to soft but chewy, sweet and tangy. Not all Pho place makes good, authentic taste of broth. This place is 1 of the successor in that. The interior is not a standard Pho restaurant, but designed to stand out and luxury I have to say. Drinks menu is also great. They offer sugar cane juice, their thai tea is also amazing! The smell of strong green tea, mixed with the right amount of milk really brings out their handmade recipe. I want to try the eggrolls and garlic noodles shaken beef next visit. I hope they’re doing great so I can keep coming in for my favorite of Pho bowl. ?

Really interesting menu. My friends brought me here late at night. I actually got the Matcha milk tea with boba. I really liked it! Good texture, soft and chewy. Their regular poke was also good with 3 proteins (you can build your own bowl that has a good selection of toppings and sauces). Id like to try more of the menu when I come again.
Ramen Ken

Ramen / dipping ramen spot in the Vons complex of Walnut. It's like having a local Tsujita in the ‘burbs. Credit cards accepted. Parking is easy and available in the large parking lot. Indoor dining and takeout (phone in or online) is available (no outdoor dining option).Came here on a Saturday for dinner around 7. I understand that they were understaffed, so please be patient with the waiter (there was only one for all the tables) when we went, and he seemed a bit flustered. You may need to wait a bit longer for the food to come out as well since everything seemed to be made to order, but I think it was worth the wait for the noodles alone. The noodles that come with the red miso options are super thick and chewy - almost the size of udon noodles, but with more chew. The noodles for the white miso are more like the traditional ramen size. Either way, they all were very chewy and the broth is flavorful. Note that the red miso as it stands isn't spicy, but once you add some more chili powder, it adds a nice tang. The bowls come with one piece of meat, so it's worth getting more meat (3 pieces for $3) on the side.Note that the waiter may ask if you want your check while you're still eating, but it's all good. Currently no alcohol but I believe they're working on getting their liquor license. There is a kids meal and they do have a couple of rice options. Overall, it's still a relatively new restaurant so I know they're working out some kinks, but I would come back for the hefty portions and perfectly cooked noodles.
Kalahi Bakery
804 Nogales St, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
I have heard about this bakery from my Filipino friends many times. My friends always order a party tray of fried bananas. I decided to pay a visit. My friend and I bought 5 different desserts, and they are all pretty good. The big baseball-like friend coconut balls were my favorite. 4 in one skewer. (Sorry I dont know the name..) Its crunchy outside with a thin layer of sugar coating, so it wont be soggy even when its cooled down. Inside is the chewy coconut, the texture is like Boba.Fried Banana: This is wrapped with spring roll skin and deep-fried. It also has a thin layer of sugar coating. The tartness of the banana filling and the sweet and crunchy skin is the perfect combination.Ube rice cake, sell-by small box: The texture is chewy but not with a strong Ube taste.Bamboo cup rick cake, sell-by big box: this cup cakes cup is bamboo leaves. So these rice cakes have the aroma of bamboo leaves. The texture is more like a honeycomb cake but chewier.Halo Halo (drink): This drink is so colorful, but not my favorite. I was expecting to have a coconut milk base drink, but its a condensed milk base drink. Inside has cut papaya pieces and some jello-like stuff. Its not bad, but I prefer coconut milk drinks better. This Filipino restaurant is actually an old store. Just ask any Filipino and you will know. Every time I have a party with Filipino friends, I will eat the fried bananas ordered from this restaurant. Now let’s talk about the desserts I tried todayFirst of all, I want to make it clear that the names of my desserts are randomly chosen because I can’t understand them, but I will try my best to stay true to the original taste, so I won’t make a mistake when I buy them.)Extra large round fried coconut balls (4 pcs per skewer): This one looks delicious because it’s so big. The outer shell is fried to a crispy texture and then coated with sugar. The inside is filled with coconut balls that taste like boba, QQs. This is my favorite.Purple hair cake (sold in a box): It really looks like hair cake, but the taste is also QQ. The purple color seems to be Ube, but I cant taste it. But it is a delicious fat cake.Fried bananas (sold by the strip): Fried bananas are rolled in spring roll wrappers and then fried crispy and covered with a thin layer of sugar coating, so they are still crunchy when eaten cold! Needless to say, the texture is crunchy, delicious, sweet, and has a slightly sour banana filling (could it be a green banana or could it be a plantain?!). You can eat three pieces at a time. Will be tired.Zong leaf cup rice cake: As the name suggests, this is a cup rice cake made of zong leaves. Although the taste here is also QQ, the fermentation inside seems to be different, so it has honeycomb-like holes, like white sugar cake, and has the aroma of rice dumpling leaves. I personally think it tastes delicious but I still prefer something crunchy. But this is my friends favorite. So you have to try it to know which one is your favorite!Halo Halo (drinks and desserts): The photos are colorful, so my friends and I couldn’t help but have a drink too. The result was different from what I expected, because I thought it would be like Vietnamese food, with colorful things like jelly and crispy fillings in it. But there are papaya chunks inside! A piece of red bean dough that cannot be melted after being stirred for a long time. It tastes like Taiwan’s candied four-fruit ice cream (I wonder? Will this make fans more popular...) The most important thing is that the white base is not thick coconut milk., but condensed milk and milk water. This will be an option for those who don’t like the taste of coconut milk.
Farmers Market
21168 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Very interesting place to shop. Semi-indoor and outdoor set-up. Depending on what time you get there, parking is okay. Owners are pleasant. They have unique varieties of fruits and vegetables. You will find Asian and middle eastern varieties although, they have the usual fruits & veggies offered by your local grocery store. They pretty much much have everything except fresh cut meats. Two unique attributes to this store, it has a garden and pottery section. The prices are very competitive. Im always surprised with how much I get for the money. You will also find some organic choices. The quality of the produce is not the same as your local store but, then again, I like to see variations as nature intended it. Its conveniently located next to a Persian, Japanese, Vietnamese & other restaurants, too. I highly recommend this place. Check it out, if you havent, youll thank me later.
