I have a love/hate relationship with the 626/951/909 area. I love visiting my family and college friends here. I hate that we rarely can find a place to have a cute brunch, lunch, or cocktails anywhere. Dont get me wrong. I love myself some pizookies and awesome blossoms but I also enjoy a restaurant with creative food and homey atmosphere...or just not Applebees like.Enter the neighborhoods new hidden gem - Far East Joint. The restaurants layout is like any other space in the area. However, it is lined with 3 flat screen TVs showing the games and home photographs of the owners philanthropic journey overseas. Throw in the food and beer and youre practically at someones home.We ordered the Joint Fries, chicken wings, kimchi fried rice, bacon fried rice, pho, and tempura fried ice cream. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the Joint Fries and chicken wings. Unlike a lot of carne asada fries I have ordered elsewhere, the bulgogi was cooked well and not dry. The caramelized onions gave it a sweetness, the spicy aioli gave it a kick, and the kimchi gave it great additional texture. It all tasted so good together! For the wings, we tried spicy salt, chili & garlic soy, and honey sirarcha. The chili & garlic soy wings were the best out of the 3. They also have craft beers, soju, AND micheladas, AND chamangos here. Seriously, chamangos. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. Not to mention, meal for meal!Welcome to West Covina, Far East Joint. I will definitely be back when I am in the area. In the meantime, I hope to see you expand closer to my new home in L.A. soon.

Cat the waitresses was less then desirable. Initially when we walked in to the restuarant and there was nobody there. The waitress cat said sit anywhere you want and couldnt be bothered by escorting us to a table. Once we set down, we received the worst treatment. Cat the waitress took 10 minutes to come back and asked if we wanted her to take our order. We gave the order and never saw her for about another 10 minutes. Once the first round of food came, we asked her for wasabi and ginger and she brought one portion. In addition, she acted very put out. At this time there was only 3 other tables being served. While we sat and waited for Cat to return, we were grossed out that the bar top, menu, soy sauce bottle where sticky and absolutely gross. We asked Cat to help us clean the items and area and she made us feel like we were unreasonable. Our hands stuck to the bottle, our arms stuck to the counter and the menus stuck to each other. In retrospect, we should have left, but we stayed. We ordered our food, and it took 10 minutes for her to bring us our drinks. The food came approximately 25 minutes after we ordered. Cat never came back to check on us for 45 minutes later she asked if everything was okay? In between, we had a fabulous male waiter named Philip who asked us if we needed anyting? We explained our situation, he handled it. In the meantime, we used the restroom. It was disgusting! There were no seat covers. The buildup of dirt and grime on the tile was unexcusable. The drain cover was not attached and you could literally have twisted your ankle in the size of the hole. Again, we dont know why we didnt leave. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the company of people that we met at the bar. (Thats the only reason why we didnt leave) The music was way too loud and was obscure artists. We really believe, management needs to be a lot more on top of whats going on in this restaurant. Towards the end of our dinner, we heard this crazy and insane noise that sounded like electricity zapping. We looked down the bar, and there was a bug zapper on the floor zapping bugs. How disgusting! We will never frequent this restaurant again! There needs to be a full rehal on the standards set by this company. This restaurant has great potential and location but will never amount to anything because of the low standards set by management.

Local Asian cafe with yummy drinks, entrees, and snacks. Came here on a Saturday around noon to grab some lunch. You can order ahead online or order in-person. Note if you check in on Yelp, you can get a free topping in your choice of drink. They make the food as it's ordered, but it only took ~15-20 min to get all our stuff. The popcorn chicken was just the right amount of salty, and very crispy. It came with a sweet chili sauce. The curry pork katsu came with two cutlets, rice, and two potatoes. The curry sauce came on the side, and you can customize the spice level (we opted for spicy). You'll need to mix the curry sauce as the spice might settle to the bottom. The curry was very flavorful and thick. It pairs well with the crispiness of the breading. The HK milk tea has an unctuous silkiness that was well-complemented by the squishy, fresh boba. The earl grey milk tea my sister ordered was also good and had a pleasant tea flavor, without being overwhelming. Unfortunately the mille crepes weren't available when we went.Parking is available in the lot. Free WiFi is available too. Credit cards are accepted. Overall, the food and drinks are high quality, and I'll be back here to try more of their drinks/food!
Sheng Hui Dim Sum
2889 Valley Blvd J, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
They seemed very unorganized, although that can probably be attributed to how new the place is. My mother and I ordered takeout on a Saturday morning, not even half an hour after opening, and we waited for almost an hour before we got our food. We were only fourth in line when we arrived. And even though we were there shortly after opening, they had already run out of three of the items we had wanted to try.The place is very small inside, only four small tables or so for eating there, but they do serve customers who eat there before taking orders from to-go customers. Most of the food we had was ok - nothing super special or delicious - although they do have some cute designs for their buns or cakes. If youre really craving dim sum and you cant get to another place because of distance (being within walking distance of this place), this will satisfy the craving, but I wont be driving to come here again.

*Waba Response does not help* the portion size isn't fair. i go to the waba in Walnut and they actually use the whole bowl for the food. this location has a strong grip on the food for some reason. in photo i moved the chicken to one side to pour sauce on rice and with other locations i can barely put the chicken to one side. with this one, well u can see. i keep making the mistake to go to this location for convenience. next time i'll drive the extra three miles to go to walnut location for better fair portions. At walnut i can barely see the rice underneath. Amar location is BAD*waba response* they still made it very difficult to leave contact info. they're lying to make themselves look ‘accountable' no option to leave contact and when i do, i get email saying that isn't the way to contact them HAHA

Went on a Tuesday night around 8pm. Food was done quick, hot food, and tasted good. Service was great. Dulce even checked up on everyone inside while everyone was eating like a restaurant. My wife forgot her purse there and we went back Wednesday morning and Dulce was there. She immediately was happy to see my wife remembered her from night before and gave my wife her purse. Thank you Dulce for the great customer service and saving my wifes purse for us to come back and get. Completely made our week. Waba grill give this worker a raise as she definitely deserves it. Thank you again Dulce!!!!!

I used to frequent the Rancho Cucamonga location for years and that location was always great, never missed an order, and the food quality was always great. Service was amazing and I enjoyed having lunch there. Here, it is nearly the opposite. The main issue is that they (and this is serious) forget to add the half-o-cado to my orders, and Ive had that happen on, no joke here, over half my orders. They have always charged the $1.99 and less than half my orders have had the half-o-cado with them. The even better part about this is that this has happened with EVERY employee that works there during lunch time on the weekdays. So it hasnt happened with only one employee. The chicken is very inconsistent. Sometimes dry, sometimes even warm, but rarely hot & fresh off the grill. The flavor and tenderness reflect that. The veggies and rice are generally decent, although the rice servings do vary and arent consistent on every visit.Ive been in the restaurant industry for years, I know how it all works, and I suspect this location can get so slow that these workers can lose their attention. It happens rather often.Otherwise, with the prevalence of forgotten half-o-cados on orders, yet still charging for them, Id imagine the managers or franchise owner direct the employees as such. Because they have omitted the avocado more times than they have put it on my order.Somehow, the Barranca location close by is worse. Ive gone once and got cold chicken & a half serving of rice on my order, plus they also left out the half-o-cado.

This is the 2nd time in a row that this place has failed to give us our drinks which come with the $19.99 family meal we always order. Today was another one of those times and of course I am already almost home when I realized it. I didn't want to go back so I just let it slide, however when I got home my husband asked me for the dumplings which are also included in the meal. I was so upset!!! .....my order was incomplete, I felt cheated! I decided to call them to let them know what had happened. A young lady answers the phone and immediately tells me to hold. She did not put me on hold, I was able to hear all the background noise. I was left waiting for someone to pick up the phone again to help me, I had waited for about 15 minutes and nothing! I could hear them talking and having conversations - clearly were not busy to assist a customer with a complaint!! This is so unacceptable and unprofessional.

Great Plates customer. Unfortunately this restaurant didnt follow the rules to provide restaurant quality meals to seniors during the pandemic. They got paid $66 for 3 meals per day per person on their provider list. The food delivered wasnt their restaurant food. They subbed it out to a 3rd party. I requested less meals to 2 per day. They said that wasnt possible. Other counties provided that option and adjusted their fee to $44/day. I requested better food. Items from their menu and they laughed about it. I complained to the person in charge. Nothing changed. The food is nothing I would be willing to pay $22 a plate to eat or order off a menu. They have ribs on the menu I would love to try or noodles or many other things, but unfortunately they did not serve their restaurant food. If what I received is what this restaurant serves I would never be a customer after the program ends on June 30th. Its too bad, if it was good, I would have been a customer bringing lots of friends to eat there after the program ended, but I cannot recommend this place or its food based on the garbage they fed to me. Lots of it ended up in the trash can because I cannot eat three meals daily or I just couldnt stomach it.Typical breakfast: Fake bacon, greasy omelets, untoasted English muffin sandwiches, high gluten oatmeal with two small bites of cantaloupe.Lunches and dinners are unidentifiable mixtures of rice or quinoa with strange dry chicken or chewy meat. My dogs eat the meat. I get some maybe corn or black beans, or potatoes or chicken smothered in tumeric sauce. There is one item I think is decent but they only give a small bowl of that...it looks like whipped sweet potatoes. Thats all in the meal but its never enough given. It tastes good and I can eat it without gagging. This plate is one of the few thats filled to the top of the bowl. White rice on the bottom, canned corn and black beans over it with a few pieces of chicken. This one is edible but nothing I would be hunting for off their menu.I finally got my drinks sorted out. I ended up donating cases of orange juice to food banks. It was like pulling teeth to get the ice tea promised or other low calorie drink and decent sized water instead. That part got better yay! This is a very honest review about what this restaurant did with FEMAs money. Im sure Im speaking out for older seniors who cannot speak for themselves. This program was a success in other counties throughout Southern CA. I checked the reviews and saw the meals those people received and frankly I was so jealous they got real restaurant style meals directly from their provider, not some other people who cant even cook.

The food is amazing for a very reasonable price, but I think the service differs depending on whos working. The first time I came with my Latina friend and the staff person also appeared to be Latina (she was speaking Spanish to some other customers while we were there); she noticeably treated my friend preferentially and was short with me when I asked questions about the menu and how to order since it was my first time, which ended up making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Then when I tried to pay, my payment failed the first time so she told me to insert my card again, but she helped by tapping on the screen for me and selecting the highest tip for herself without giving me a choice. I told her that wasnt the tip option I wanted to select but she gave me a dirty look and told me I couldnt go back, so I just had to pay the amount she selected or risk making a big fuss. Then she didnt offer me a receipt, which I think is just bad service considering she overcharged me, but maybe its because she didnt want me to find out her name (since the server name is usually printed on your receipt). When our food came out, my friends meal was neatly packaged so that she could take it to go, but my poke bowl didnt have a lid on it even though I was also taking it to go, and I had to ask for one, which she also treated like I was being an inconvenience. It was a really off-putting experience. My second time here, I came back with a different friend and ordered the exact same thing because the food quality was great, it was just the service that sucked, so I figured Id give the place a second chance. Thankfully my second time was a lot better. The server (Michelle, based on my receipt) was very sweet and I didnt experience any problems. So I will probably keep eating here in the future, but I would not like to encounter the rude staff person from my first time again.
