Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors

My food was delicious and I was happy however I went with a friend who has a gluten allergy and told the cashier this when she ordered. She asked them to tell the cook so that there wouldnt be any cross contamination. The cashier went and told the manager instead who then came over and talked to my friend. She again explained to the manager that she has a gluten allergy and would become very ill if there was any cross contamination and again, asked them to notify the cook of this. From there she could see that nobody ever went and spoke with the cook (open kitchen) and then watched as the cook picked up my ingredients (which contained gluten) and then handled hers without ever changing his gloves.

I visited the restaurant tonight since I felt like having a new dining experience. The ambiance is nice with soothing instrumental music to enjoy. There is the option to eat inside or outside. The Asian fusion menu offers anything from sushi to fried rice with wonderful favorites like pho soups, seafood & meat combination plates as well as noodle dishes. They offer eel, octopus, tofu and even sandwiches. I definitely recommend this kid-friendly eatery for the whole familys dining pleasure.

This meal was very disappointing. I love Japanese food and Italian food. My small group had high hopes based on reviews and the whole idea of fusing two unique and incredible cuisines.Appetizers were gyoza (decent) and tomato bruschetta (very meh, literally salsa on toast). Two meals (chicken parm & shio koji chicken) came out probably 20-30 mins before the statue of david pizza was at the table.Parm was decent, although not flavored well besides the overly salted potatoes. shio chicken was literally unseasoned/unsauced chicken breast with a few pieces of grilled bok choy. Thats it....Pizza was devoid of flavor and even with a slice folded in half, drooped when you held it and dripped oil. Bland toppings just fell off as each slice was picked up.Its not like these items were particularly inexpensive either like what do you expect?. For the $20+ entrees, we expected... something decent. There was no chili oil/flakes or Parmigiano cheese or salt/pepper at the table to enhance flavor either. The ambiance was sad, the back patio smelt of weed, the restroom was dirty, slippery, and had a trashbag over the urinal. The service was poor as well. The waiter was very aloof and unconcerned with the fact that we had to watch the last person eat after we had already finished our meals. There was no hows your food or i apologize for it being so slow or how can i make this right or checking in with us. It was only theyre working on it. There is no they... dude... you are the face of the restaurant. You are on the same team. This is a customer facing role where people skills are necessary. Why couldnt he at least pretend just a little bit like he cared about our experience?Im honestly shocked at how bad this dining experience was... its probably been 10 years since Ive had such poor service/food. I felt robbed. San Diego has much much better to offer.I dont often write reviews, but I felt obligated to say something after seeing the difference between the typical review and my experience.
Stubborn Poke N Chips

The best poke in a mall food court! Actually the best non-Hawaiian pokey style based on their sauces and many options. It's like you get double chances in step 4 and 6 to get it moist and flavorful. The protein is marinated not like other places where it's just a squirt on top. You can't go wrong with any of the endless sauces and adding crunchies at the end. The portions are also huge!1.Pick how many scoops2.Your base (salad, rice, half and half)3.Protein4.Marinades5.Toppings6.Dress it upI got one scoop and my fiancé got two scoops but with all the toppings, my bowl was actually a lot more. I also got 3 sauces and they all mixed well. They also have wings, poutine and fries. We got the wings with waffle fries. We got half honey garlic soy and half stubborn buffalo. The wings were small, great sauces, it's just that it didn't taste fresh and tasted previously frozen.5/5 for the pokey. They have a massive menu. Did you know that they also have udon? Curry chowder? Bulgogi cheeseburger? And so much more!

This experience happened a while ago and I havent had time to write this review! My friend and I used to go here ALL the time - theres great options for vegan boba, and the staff (all except for when we went the last time) have consistently been creative, friendly, and welcoming. We will not be returning after the last time and the subsequent experience talking with the manager! We went in and ordered our usual drinks and took them to-go on our way to work. We didnt discover until we got to work that my friends drink wasnt blended all the way; it was mostly chunks of ice, with visible chunks of powder and separated ingredients, and a quarter scoop of boba in direct comparison to mine. It was simply not blended - not a problem!Weve called them before over similar issues, and theyve handled them with ease. Once, there was a hair in my friends drink when we were taking them to-go. I called in once I got back home and let them know what happened. They apologized profusely and said they could write down a name by the register since I had paid in cash that day. I said that was great, they apologized profusely again, and I told them dont worry about it, because it happens. Which it does! The other time, one of our drinks was made incorrectly and they remade it right away with no problem while we were still in the parking lot.So, we called them regarding this issue and were friendly about it, not expecting there to be any problem. The girl we talked to immediately denied there being anything wrong with the drink, and stated she would not be able to do anything about the issue. We asked for the managers information as we had different experiences previously, and wanted to know if anything could be done about an $8-9 drink being undrinkable and having to be thrown away.Apparently, she had informed the manager that we called them names and were acting rudely to them in the store and over the phone. Tommy, the manager, had a prior assumption that their version of the story was correct, and stated:If the drink was icy or blended incorrectly we would have fixed it right away for you but be rest assured that all our staffs are well trained not to give out drinks that are not well blended anyhow. With that being said, if you still felt that it wasnt blended well enough the staff that day would have happily remade it for you, however, by pushing them to give out the number for management and called them names because they refused to do so is not a proper approach. We are always open to hearing out our customers but they need to be respectful and within reason. We regret to inform you that we cant help you with your incident at this point.Unfortunately, Tommy,1) Your staff may be well trained, but they DID hand out a drink that was not blended.2) They may have been able to remake the drink for us, but when we asked them - and you - if that were an option, we were told, expressly, no, and that nothing could be done.We were consistently respectful, and acted well within reason, on this occasion and on every other occasion we have interacted with any employee from this store. To be treat your customers with suspicion and scorn without hesitation and without considering that an employee might lie in an attempt to avoid responsibility is shameful. As a side note: they do consistently run out of their boba and fresh ingredients like bananas (including first thing in the morning).

What. A. Joke! Ive had better service at a jiffy lube than this place. There were two people working and one was on break. The guy (who apparently was the cook), had absolutly no idea how to operate the register. Okay, I get it, albeit not his job, he tried. The girl on break came over and took our order. However, the cook did not speak English, so he did not make my veggie shrimp bowl with veggies. A pretty big part of the complex parts to this staple bowl meal here in SD. I did not realize this till I got home. And there it was, nine small shrimp, a bowl of rice and 2 Tbsp of teriyaki sauce. I could have made rice at home and the shrimp was horribly burnt. Last time I waste $20 for two garbage meals. @WaBa.....go out of buisness now and save yourself the bleeding slow death. Itll help struggling companies who have value in the capitalistic market.

Amazing Asian fusion vegan restaurant! Ambience, food and hospitality are just great! We had mapo tofu and veg Pho with tofu. Both were delicious! We liked Pho more however! Just a note- there is a bed of broccoli in mapo tofu. If you aren’t a big fan of it, make sure to mention that. Their iced expresso coffee is also great. The server was very kind and helpful with suggestions! They have a diverse menu and we look to explore diff food options they have in future! Highly recommend if around that area!
Loving Hut (North Park)

Loving Hut is a vegan restaurant with an Asian fusion menu that features many mock meats.I ordered the impossible BBQ noodles, which is a vegan Vietnamese vermicelli salad with impossible beef strips and spring rolls. It was extremely good, but I would recommend ordering the impossible beef crispy rolls appetizer as there werent many spring roll pieces in the noodle dish. They also have vegan marshmallow cookies!
The Village SD

This Asian-Mexican fusion restaurant has to be in my top three favorite vegan SD restaurants. Not only do they have a diverse menu, the food is fresh and packed full of flavor. The service is great and best of all, it’s family run.(For CA natives: yes, they have a free parking lot with plenty of spots. For tourists, it’s less than a 5 minute drive to Balboa.)
