Stopped in on our way to Big Bear. My husband and I wanted a quick bite to eat that wasnt typical fast food faire. This was a pleasant surprise as we had never heard of this franchise let alone have eaten in one. It was definitely refreshing to see the healthier offerings on the menu, and no one asking do you want fries with that?I had a chicken bowl with rice and vegetables, my husband had the steak bowl. Both of us enjoyed our food. The wait wasnt too long. The food was well cooked and seasoned, and most importantly it didnt sit in our guts like a big stone when we were done. The restaurant itself was clean and kept up. Tables were wiped down and nothing was waiting on the chair to attach itself to the bottom of my pants. Will be putting this franchise on our list of places to look out for when were out and about.

First of all I was really looking forward to having lunch at this location today. I walked in, needed to use the restroom and as I like to have clean hands when I eat I asked for the restroom to be open so that I could relieve myself before ordering as I had to go pretty bad. The employees refused stating that I had to order first before they would open up the restroom. I explained of my need to go pretty badly but the guy at the counter would not relent. I could understand this policy if I were a dirty homeless person that wasnt going to order food, but here I am a person dressed in a uniform at lunchtime about to order lunch in your otherwise empty dining room. You guys must not need my business so I walked over to Pollo Loco. I was welcome to use their restroom before I ordered and then I dropped nearly twenty dollars on lunch. I then proceeded to return to the Waba location waiting to speak to some sort of manager because I was hoping that the manager could use this as a teaching experience for the people that work the counter that perhaps they should use some discretion when someone needs to use the restroom. The two people in the back told me they dont speak English. Then when the guy at the front counter came back I asked for the manager. He then made a phone call and spoke to the person that he said was the manager in Spanish land thats when it hit me. They didnt want to let me use the restroom because I do not speak Spanish. So he then told me that the manager said she was too busy to deal with me. Well then I guess I got my answer. Guess they dont need my money.
NO.1 China Express

Well Ive been a loyal customer to China Express for the last 8 to 10 yrs. I often eat there 2 to 3 times a month, sometimes more. Ive never had a problem with the food or service quality... But last week, on Sunday, August 27th, my 10 yr streak took a full 360 degree turn in food quality and service.. for the last 8 to 10 years Ive ordered the exact same thing, the same two dishes that I always get... A large shrimp fried rice extra shrimp, and a large beef and vegetables .. I usually eat one dish one day and the other dish the following day. The next day when I went to heat up leftover dish, I noticed fuzz growing mostly on the vegetables, on the beef and vegetables plate.. So I did what any normal person would do, I returned the food. Ive never had to return my food. But the one time I did, me being a loyal customer went out the window. They didnt want to take responsibility to replace my plate even though they could see all the fuzz. They blamed me for not eating the food right away.. finally they decided to replace my plate, after treating me like Public Enemy # 1 and rudely telling me to never come into their restaurant again, so I kindly complied.. havent been back since. They really gave me a hard time to replace the plate I kindly paid $40-45 for. Jeesh!!! Replacing a plate would not make or break your business, but losing a loyal customer or customers possibly could.5 pieces of Advice from one entrepreneur to another:#1. The customer is always right#2. Never blame the customer for the problem they are having#3. Being the owner, you should fix any problem the customer may be experiencing#4. Never make your customers feel unwelcomed in your place of business#5. Being the owner, you should be building strong customer and community relationships.... Building bridges not burning them..Ponder that ..????

Dumplings are inconsistent here. Thats all I ever get. A quick little snack before work or after and its been good lately until the last two times Ive gone. Not sure if its a new person on the grill or just being lazy but as you see in the pictures its pretty bad.The dumplings sometimes have little pieces of char on them I usually just flick off which is fine. Lately theyve been consistent and clean and no need to. But the last two times Ive gone they were pretty bad. Like bad bad. Just after 2020 covid it was always bad but since have fixed the issue until recently again. Here Ill show you.As you see in the picture it looks like they were not on a clean grill and just dumped on the grill with old crusty crumbs still on it. Lots of burnt bits on the dumplings and to top it off a big Ole piece of burnt something was picked up from probably in a crevice of the grill where nothing gets cleaned and placed in the container for extra flavoring lol. Why do that? Just clean the grill and stop being lazy.

I had an absolutely fantastic time at the 909 Bar inside Yaamava Casino, and I cant praise it enough! The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by our bartender, Adriana. From the moment we sat down, Adriana was not only attentive but also had an incredible understanding for our drink preferences. Her recommendations were nothing short of spectacular, and she even convinced us to try something we wouldnt normally go for – a decision we didnt regret in the least!Adrianas customer service was outstanding. She was friendly, engaging, and seemed to have an uncanny eye for detail. Its clear that she takes great pride in her work and genuinely cares about ensuring her guests have the best experience possible.Overall, the 909 Bar inside Yaamava Casino exceeded our expectations, and it was all thanks to Adrianas amazing service. I highly recommend this place for a wonderful night out, and I cant wait to return for another memorable visit. Thank you, Adriana and the 909 Bar team, for making our night truly special!

A pretty good place for lunch I must say. There are a few offerings of Thai Restaurants in the area, however this one sticks out with a variety between authentic Thai and Asian Fusion. Its a great place for lunch and a group of coworkers. I ate lunch here on a week day and it wasnt too packed around the time it opened although it did pick within an hour.
Sushi Miguels Style Highland
7199 Boulder Ave UNIT 2, Highland, CA 92346, United States
Probably the best sushi in Highland. I always ask the locals whats good to eat. This rarely fails. One day Im getting my haircut and I ask the lady whats your favorite spot to eat here?. We swap restaurants and its apparent we are vibing the same when it comes to food. Then she tells me you have to try Sushi Miguels Style. It sounds..interesting; to say the least. Ive never been much into the fusion scene, but she swears Ill love it. So, we look it up and its like 2 minutes from my house and its definitely a little place. Youve likely only seen it if your heading into Albertsons or maybe while in line at Rosa Marias. You walk in and are greeted with the bar and a handful of tables scattered around a semi-bare restaurant with a couple of TVs decorating the wall. The menu is pretty big with a list of typical and non-typical variety of sushi, sashimi and other Asian treats. Its not really a fusion place. Its more like someones vision on a plate. We discuss the all you can eat option (?) but decide to try some random items for the first time. I order an Awesome roll, spring rolls and some salmon sashimi Miguels Style. I love spicy and am warned that its hot. Ill be honest, Im not expecting whats about to happen. I expect a decent sushi place, semi-fresh fish and a twisted take on this style of food. This place rocked me. Everything was super fresh, had amazing and unique flavors and service was great! Everyone needs to try the sashimi Miguels Style for sure! They essentially make KILLER hot chili oil, douse the sashimi in it and add pickled onions, green onions and a few other things I cant put my finger on. The outcome is remarkable. The chili oil isnt that hot, but my wife doesnt do spice and skipped it and she still raved about the Crunch and Colton roll. Next time Im dropping $30 and going for the all you can eat. All-in-all this place excited me and brought amazing flavors a little off the beaten path. It made me look at sushi as more of a blank slate and think of what you can add to it to elevate it. Im very impressed with what Ive had so far and inl definitely recommend trying this place before it BLOWS UP. Definitely will be back soon, but I must say; this IS probably the best restaurant in Highland (at least from all the ones Ive had so far). Go. Try. It.
Trois Mec

Wow, thanks for a very great dining experience! It is in a random plaza and in a former pizza place. Im so happy that we didnt have to deal with valet and searching forever for street parking, as the plaza had a small lot! I paid $95 for this meal.. for an unemployed student, I aint trying to pay more if I dont need to!We enter in, and was greeted with a Bonsoir from everyone there. Im so happy that we got the bar seats because its an open kitchen concept and I LOVE to see chefs do their thang. Apparently each night, the menu changes a bit. We are started off with 3 snacks: puffed tangy wheatberry (think rice crispies but with cool flavors), AMAZING bread soup with this decadent whipped mousse on top (Im going to get stale bread just to make this myself), and a fried sunchoke bite. The chef who made these snacks came out to give it to us and introduced it to us. I love how enthusiastic he was about the dish.Next came the garlic bread, which they introduced as garlic bread but yall know its more than that. We opted for the supplementary dish, which was scallops with tandoori. Ludo himself presented that dish to us. It was raw scallops powdered with tandoori powder and a whole bunch of other spices. It was amazing, and well worth it. The supplementary dishes cannot be shared, as the whole party has to get it.Next few dishes were our entrees. First was the grilled lettuce. I never had lettuce as the main part of the dish but was quite skeptical, but it seemed like his take on a salad. It was amazing!Second dish was a potato puree. Think mashed potato with cheese, before it was mashed. It was hearty and filling, and I cleaned my plate. Third dish was the short rib. This was the only meat that was served tonight, and for hardcore meat lovers, youd be disappointed. But Im a flavor lover, so Im a-okay with that! It was small, but so unique. Last dish/dessert was like an apple pie crumble but instead put into different layers to simulate that. I was so full by this time and could not finish the whole thing. It did not go to waste! My friend scarfed the first down.I got a latte at the end, and it was also really good as well. The experience was very personal, yet not crowded. Everyone had their own space, and had their own interactions with the chefs. It was a 5 star dining experience, as our water glasses were never empty, and our silverware and plates were rotated after every dish. Even the serveware they used was so cool and unique! (Think hand thrown pottery), and their knife to cut our short rib was some famous French brand. Ludo really cultivated this restaurant to be his baby, as seen in his dedication to being at Trois Mec for mostly every service.Im not a fangirl of his, but now am. When you look at the pictures, the dishes seemed haphazard, as he changes the natural shape of his ingredients to powders, mousses, foam, etc. However, that brings the surprise element when I take a bite-full of this dish and am titillated by the different flavors that bite embodies.Wine pairing also isnt bad- $25 per person. Once I get a job, Ill be back for that ;)
Yaamava Resort & Casino
777 San Manuel Blvd S, Highland, CA 92346, United States
Ok this is going to be a bit of a long review. To start, Yaamava is the first casino Ive ever been to and the only casino Ive ever had a club card with. I signed up about 2 or 3 months ago, and currently have about 21,000 tier points. Considering every tier point accounts for 1$ spent in a slot machine--Im not a high roller by any means, but Im not coming at this review as someone who brought $50 in one time.Up to now Ive been really excited to see the gift offers, comps, and other offers that Yaamava started offering me. My issue isnt with the casino games or even the rate of winning/losing. My issue is with the overall vibe Ive gotten from staff when Ive had a question or request.I dont know how else to put it other than my interactions have made me feel like having a question is annoying and that the employees are...annoyed. Unhappy. Like in general. In one instance with a supervisor Ive literally had a smoother/warmer customer service interaction at the DMV.Earlier this week I decided to drive in to the casino based on a type of freeplay offer I hadnt redeemed yet. The offer showed the time of day the freeplay would be loaded on my club card, but didnt show an end-time. So I assumed it was valid until the end of the day. Other offers in the Yaamava app have shown the end-by times in the offer header, and since Im new to the casino I figured oh ok its good all day. Well, I was wrong. When I got to the casino and saw that the freeplay offer was showing as expired at around 8pm, I went to a Serrano club desk to ask for clarity. I also did ask for a 1-time accommodation for the freeplay as I truly was not aware it expired before the end of the day. The first lady at the desk told me outright, we cant do anything for you, sorry. But one of the other women at the desk suggested I call the number on the club card. When I called, the woman on the phone I spoke with said, that what I was told by the first woman was incorrect. That I should go back to the desk, and ask for a supervisor. So I did. The supervisor, before I even said anything, seemed irritated. The other employee Im guessing had already filled her in on what my question would be. But even still, I found it incredibly rude to be greeted by annoyance when I hadnt been rude at all. When I asked her if she could help me, she flat out said no. Which was the opposite of what the woman on the phone at guest services said. It was only after I shared that with her that the supervisor, almost literally huffing at me, said Ill just give it to you (meaning the freeplay). It was less than $50, I truly do not understand the attitude I was given. It made me feel embarrassed. But whatever, I let it go. Everyones allowed a bad day, supervisors included. But then tonight. I came back for a Friday freeplay offer where you could win up to 5k in freeplay. Which made me excited again and I was happy to come back. I stayed later than I anticipated and called the hotel desk to see if maybe there were any rooms available by cancellation. I had received some free room offers but have not booked a stay yet. Before I even got my full question out, the woman on the phone (who Im pretty sure was a VIP services person?) cut me off to say were booked. No, Im sorry! But were all booked, not even the courtesy of letting me finish my sentence. She didnt even know my tier level so I could have been anyone. To sum up...I was excited to keep coming here but these interactions have already burst the excitement bubble for me. Instead of feeling valued I feel like a nuisance if anything actually comes up I need to ask about or need assistance with. Why would I spend hundreds, let alone thousands, to feel like that?I will say, that the managers walking the floor have always been INCREDIBLY attentive, friendly and warm if Ive had to ask them where something was, etc. They seem genuinely happy to be there and to interact with people.

As usual Tony at Kims Fantasy Nails did a fantastic job...yet again..or shall I say as expected since Ive been going to him and his wife Ton exclusively for right about 30 years! Today I got to enjoy their expertise, talent and friendship with my eldest granddaughter Makaylah as we both got our selves pampered a bit. We had a great time chatting with old friends and for her...making new ones.If you have a chance to stop by...you wont regret it. They are completley professional and keep a modern facility up to date with Covid 19 standards for your health and safety always first.Be sure to tell them we said hi!
