Sun Kitchen Asian Bistro

Im not a big fan of these combo restaurants (Chinese and Japanese) as I my belief a restaurant should concentrate on a cuisine they do best. But, Mikado is an exception; they got it right.Mikado offers a good blend of Japanese and Chinese food. Granted theyre not a perfect 10 for both cuisine, but theyre very good with both worlds. This place does get packed and for good reasons.Their Chinese food, dont expect Kois Palace quality but then again you dont pay those prices. Theyre food comes out pipping hot and you can see the Chef is obviously showing off his wok skills. One of my favorite is their garlic fried rice. It adds a new taste dimension to a common dish. Their mini Bok Choy with garlic sauce and Peking Pork Chops are excellent comfort food and Mikado knows how to make them.Their other world is an interesting experience. Weekdays are fine for your everyday sushi fix, but for a true Japanese adventurous experience you have to go there on the weekend. The sushi rice was lacking the sushi rice vinegar but the fish are fresh and presented nicely.Staff here are top notch and not something you would expect from a small bistro. They frequently check up on you and there were times when we mentioned the food was a bit salty and they automatically took it back and had another one made. For their sushi (unless you like whats in their menu)I suggest you let them make the recommendations. Theyre honest about whats fresh and what to avoid.

They don't take phone orders that is just ridiculous!!!So when I came into to order my food the one man working the counter was on the phone I guess confirming an Uber online order and had to continue to wait for at least 5 mins before he can take my order. I asked if someone else can help me pointing to the back kitchen area and he said no they don't speak English I am the only one. Thankfully my food didn't take super long to make. But last time I was there it did! They seem to be way understaffed!! And the only man working there was not friendly at all!Think it's just ridiculous they can't take over the phone orders….! And when I called to place an order over the phone the man was very rude about and just hung up saying bye and that was it!!Also not to mention the prices are way too too expensive for what u get…I ordered the Japchae and there was barely any meat in it, w tons of onions and bell peppers. My husband looked at my dish and said did they even give u any meat in it…!!!They are just way overpriced for the amount of food u get or quality really!I think this will prob be my last time eating there even though I did love the Japchae the clear noodles where my fav but with everything else I think I am going to have to pass on this place now!

Been going back. I think they learn from our reviews. They have improved a lot. Im impressed. I actually am. Being treated kindly now. I gave a $10 tip last time. The young lady was very attentive. They could still use sliced raw mushrooms, kidney beans, bean sprouts, chunks of pineapple, not those slices which are to much work to eat, chunks of cheeses added to the salad bar. Get the ranch tasting like ranch dressing. Sunflower seeds as well, I dont remember seeing them. Still no beef and broccoli. And bring back coconut shrimp instead of mayo shrimp. They got banana pudding and tapioca pudding. My two favorite puddings. Yeah! They got rid of the strawberries though. They listen to our suggestions here. They are much better than when I started going here. Much more politer. A much more nicer environment. China Wall Buffett lost out. Much more variety here and they even brought back ousters. No beef and broccoli yet. I like steamed broccoli with melted cheese over it.They got my business. Went about 3 times this month. Might go today. 10-27-2022Older post below________I went back again last week or so. Today is 10-8-2022. I went on my mobility scooter. They where kind, gave me my own table. Checked my drink all the time. The food was even better. Total change. Im bumping the stars from 3 star rating to 5 star rating. They have way better choices than China Wall Buffett in Concord that only serves the same foods.

Avoid at all cost. Reviews are fake & is no where close to 4stars1), the lady who answered the call is super rude to make a reservation and said if we don't show up by 2:15pm our reservation would be gone, because they are super busy!We arrived at the restaurant 15min after the call and see hardly 2 tables occupied. Wonder what is the swag about?Red flag: Why did we not simply find another place to go? We continued2)When we opened the door it smells stinky, the smallest we expect from unventilated places.Red flag: we should have choosen to walkout, but didn't3)ordered Tom ka and Tom yam soup. That too large two pots. Only to find both are yucky with very high savory liquids and uncooked chicken. No one liked it in our group of 9.Red flag: Tomka soup has no galangal nor the bamboo shoot nor the coconut milk. Not even one peice . It's simply savor.3)chicken satay is cold and has no seasoning in it . But,better than the soup we did not eat/drink moments before. The peanut sauce is at best bland.4)red curry is ok, still needs seasoning & white rice is hard than usual which is an extra charge.5)chicken fried rice has no seasoning, but consumable, but portion size is so small we have to get two more6) pineapple fried rice is horrible with chilly flakes all over and it's unacceptable for human consumption. Remind we eat a hell lot of spicy food. But this is simply horrible7)kids are hungry so we took a chance at veg spring rolls and they eat then with no fuss. So assuming they are fine.
Dumpling Hours-Brentwood

My friends and I [Party of 6] went here for my friends birthday dinner last night. We called @ 8:10 pm and asked if it was okay if we could still swing by which they said yes. [btw. before you call us rude for coming in 30 mins. before their closing, we tipped very well].We were extremely extremely grateful for their hospitality as no other nearby restaurants were taking reservations at that hour. We were the last customers for the night, and they still served us so kindly. They even gave us dessert for free for my friends birthday!!Service: 10/10!!!The food was just as amazing, oh my gosh THE BEST dumplings I have ever tried. I always thought Journey to the Dumpling in Elk Grove had the best dumplings, but this place topped it by a mile!!The side dishes were just as good as well, we got Dan Dan noodles and Fried Chicken, and they were soooooooooooooooooo good.My Chinese friend said the food was super authentic and the dumplings tasted like the same ones she had from Shanghai! [We got Vegetable, Xiao Long Bao, & Pork Dumplings]Food: 10/10!!!I highly highly recommend this place, it was super cheap and the quality of food was of extremely high quality. :)))))))))If I could give them a 10/5 star if I could.I will 1000% be coming back soon!!!

I was thrilled to discover a new Japanese restaurant in Brentwood. However, after ordering the Katsu chicken and vegetable tempura, we may not be returning. The place was packed full on a Friday evening. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. No biggie. They have a counter along one wall, but it was loosely hanging on and tilted. Definitely not a stable place to eat. They need to get rid of that thing. It looks bad. Also, they have what looks like a beautiful water fountain behind the check-in counter. But, this was bone dry, dirty, and just an eyesore to look at wh2n you first walk in.The chicken katsu was a horrible piece of chicken. Definitely not a nice clean piece of white meat breast. 50% of the piece was full of fat and gristle, and the other 50% was flavorless cheap dark meat. This was a huge disappointment. I have had awesome chicken katsu breasts in the past, but this place does not care to give their customers a nice choice piece of meat.We might give this place one more try, to see if this was just an unfortunate anomaly. Not sure. That chicken was really gross.Have a little more pride in the food you serve and give your customers a better piece of meat.

Dinos Sandwich Shop
741 2nd St, Brentwood, CA 94513, United States
First time there and was so excited to try this place based on good reviews. My personal impression was definitely less than good. First, when you pull into the parking lot, there were pot holes as big as sink holes. Then I walked inside and the lady on left side of the counter was fiddling with some bags. No hello, no someone will be with you shortly, nothing! I just stood there being invisible. Later on, another lady came out from the back and helped me. Meanwhile, while I was standing there, I noticed a sign on the counter stating that a surcharge will be charge if I use my credit cards. Well, who doesnt these days?! This notice should have been well posted on their website so people can decide whether they want to absorb a business cost. Not after you have made the drive to the business and then learn of this trick. Frankly, that itself really turned me off. Although I do understand that everything is going up, this is a business cost to utilize credit card machines and should not have been passed down onto the customer. Then to add insult to injury as I was checking out on the electronic screen while I was paying for my take out sandwich, the last page asked if I wanted to tip. Im thinking, not no, but hell no! The owner should remove stupid shenanigans like this to beg from customers. Its just plain rude. Since when should I start tipping for someone to make me a sandwich where I patronize?! Then to add more insult to injury, I ordered a sandwich on Dutch Crunch bread. Oooh, it was bad. It tasted REALLY old. I did realized that theres a crust to it and have eaten many before but this one was different. It was as flat, dry and hard as cardboard. Ok, Im done. NEVER coming back to this place again!
