Tamarind Thai Restaurant
7970 University Ave UNIT 310, La Mesa, CA 91941, United States
Wednesday night dinner for two... The food was very, very good. The menu was comprehensive, yet not overwhelming. We ordered the combination appetizer platter, as well as an order of mixed vegetables with chicken. The food was fresh, delicious, plentiful, perfectly prepared, and served in a very reasonable timeframe. Each sauce was just right. The pricing was very fair. I would definitely return for the food.In my opinion, the wine offerings were over priced, and most of the wine options were not compatible with Thai cuisine. Perhaps a bit of consultation with a wine specialist could enhance the pairings, and assist the servers in their recommendations. (Our wait person recommended a Cabernet Sauvignon with the most delicious and light chicken and vegetables. The staff was friendly and attempted to be helpful, but seemed baffled not only with the wine recommendations, but also by my friends inquiries regarding what they thought were the best items on the menu. Knowing how to respond to such questions without accidentally denigrating the other selections on the menu would be helpful. The entire environment is really quite casual, beginning with the exterior. Although there are a few really lovely features (the gorgeous floor, as well as the mural on the wall outside of the bathroom) the ambiance doesnt do justice to the delicious food served in this tiny treasure. In my opinion, a brief consultation with a professional designer could elevate the entire experience to the same level as the delicious food.

Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
8025 Fletcher Pkwy, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Tried this restaurant 8 years ago and found it to be very overpriced for the amount of food you receive and the food tasted too sweet. All of it had a strange overwhelming sweetness to it. Tried it again recently, and found the same thing to be true. Only gave it a second chance because we were desperate for Chinese delivery and there werent many options. 1/3 of our order was left out when we received it. We called the store and after putting us on hold 4 times, asked if we could come in and pick it up. That defeats the entire purpose of the expensive delivery and we werent able to do so. Then they offered some sort of store credit or coupon but we were definitely not coming back a third time. What we wanted, was for our money to be refunded for the items we didnt receive. Didnt expect anyone to bring us the rest of our food. They wouldnt do this and told us to take it up with their third party delivery company. The delivery driver did NOT eat our missing food, Pick Up Stix didnt pack it. So we just left it at that instead of causing a problem for our delivery driver. Lost our business permanently.

Narumi Sushi
9118 Fletcher Pkwy, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
I had eaten at this restaurant many times and it became one of my familys favorites. We even began to get to know the staff (waitress with tattoos and a nose ring, Asian Sushi chef, etc.).The food was fantastic with the change in ownership - much better than before. Then the unforgivable happened. I arrived with my family and put our name in - it was getting so popular that you had to wait and they didnt take reservations. Some people showed up about 10 minutes after me and one of the girls in their party cut in front of me and spoke with the waitress & then the sushi chef ( I believe he is the owner). Again, there are no reservations at this restaurant. I could see that she was trying to cut in front of me and my family so I spoke with the waitress and informed her of this and she acknowledged we were first and we were going to be seated first. We waited another 5 minutes and all of the sudden the party waiting behind us was called in and seated. I immediately went to the Sushi chef and the waitress and reminded them that we were first and they just gave away our seats when they already promised wed be seated next - and they did it right in front of us. I asked them why and told them if they didnt give us the table and make it right we would leave and never return. They gave me no answer and didnt even apologize. It was about the rudest treatment Ive had in years at a restaurant and extremely unprofessional.I took my family and left and have never been back. I dont care how good the food was, they didnt even try to make their error right. They didnt care. Thats just bad business. I cant support that.

Bamboo Fresh Thai Cuisine

There was a parking lot so don't worry about parking! We spent about 60$ for the two of us but you can get really full with 10-20$ per person! This was our first visit but I'm telling you it is a really great place!! The whole atmosphere in the restaurant was great! The cute decorations and music were really relaxing! The staff is so friendly and they kept checking on us and brought us water frequently. The bamboo basket is really good! It was really crunchy, fresh and tasty, the two sauces that came with it were perfect to go with, I especially love that there were two little spoons by the sauce so you won't get everywhere messy. We had the spicy level 4 green curry and it was really spicy for us but so goood! It's really flavorful and you can taste the creamy coconut in it!I had a medium rare Tiger Cry Steak but it was too well done and too dry for me, but besides that the vegetables that came with it were fresh and well cooked, the mint sauce was really good too!We loved our dessert!!! The mango sticky rice is a little different than any other mango sticky rice I've had before, it's a little salty and a little sweet, it's a good balance and you gotta try it yourself!!

Panda Express

Steamed rice was hard as a rock. Orange chicken is soft and chewy. The fried rice was old. The string bean chicken was old as well. The whole meal was old. Had to call them. Drive back. Order again. Got the food home and it was fresh, the orange chicken was crunchy, the steamed rice fluffy but it was still off. I dont know if they got a new cook but the chow mein was Sooper greasy. Orange chicken was crunchy but gross inside the teriyaki chicken pieces tasted soggy and weird and hard inside but gross. Couldnt eat much of this. Only reason for 2 stars because I have been coming here for a while. The staff also forgot my teriyaki sauce. The staff and kitchen are off. Staff shortages. Lol ????At least they showed up to work. Not coming back.

This is a hidden gem. If youre looking for a great Asian restaurant look no further. Best food Ive had in a long time. We ordered the orange tofu, and vegetable chow mein. Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. Large servings! We are taking leftovers for sure. Plenty of vegetarian options. 10/10! Also, great service and we sat on the patio which was delightful.

Panda Express
5500 Grossmont Center Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
My recent visit to Panda Express left me thoroughly disappointed and dissatisfied. The experience was marred by subpar service and disappointing food quality.Firstly, the inconsistency in service was evident right from the start. While my boyfriends drink was filled to the brim, my cup was left notably underfilled by the cashier, Sidney G (Servers name was on receipt). Such discrepancies in service are unacceptable and reflect poorly on the establishments attention to customer satisfaction. Moreover, the food itself was a far cry from the classic Panda Express flavors I had come to expect. The food lacked the usual freshness and authenticity, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and quality. Its disheartening when a beloved chain fails to deliver on its signature offerings.Adding to the frustration were the attitudes of the servers. Their demeanor suggested annoyance and indifference, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere that detracted from the dining experience.Overall, Panda Express fell short on multiple fronts during this visit. From inconsistent service to subpar food quality and unprofessional attitudes, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. I hope that the management takes note of these issues and works towards improving both the customer service and the quality of their offerings. Until then, I find it difficult to recommend this specific Panda Express location to others seeking a satisfying dining experience.

I was very hesitant when my wife said we are going to eat at a Mexican/Asian fusion restaurant. However I am So glad we drove an hour a ten minutes, so worth it. The combination of flavors Chef Nate throws together, absolutely incredible. Service was amazing, food was the best and it made it even better when Chef Nate takes the time to talk with each customer. Props kind sir for your creation, we will be back for sure.
