Amarin Thai Cuisine

Generous portion sizes and great food! The Pad see ew and Pad Thai was delicious but be careful with the spiciness level. We like spicy but the medium spicy is super spicy. Twice we ordered it the same way and it was just too spicy it affected our ability to taste the true flavors of the noodles. The next time we ordered both entrees mild and it was the perfect amount of spicy for me and my fiancé.Fried rice was tasty and the biggest portion size we've received from any Thai place. The golden tofu was ok, we probably won't order that in the future.Tom Ka soup from here is our fav and a must try if you love a coconut milk base soup. The flavors are something special that always makes our mouths water! We love to add our own rice to thicken the soup and make it more hearty.Omy greeted us the moment we walked in and she was super sweet! We drive the extra miles to come to this Thai place over the one closer to our home because of the friendly vibes and great portion sizes, we always have delicious left overs!
Panda Express
3608 Mount Diablo Blvd Bldg B, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
How often after a long exhausting day starving waiting in line just to see that there was no chow mein all the vegetables and meat mixes only just had vegetables in it almost all of the entrees were all gone everything looked old and used stuff like this really grinds my gears. Ive gone to other Panda Expresses even when its close to closing and they had everything ready to go even if it meant them having to throw up some food at the end of the night these people are just lazy and just try to close up right in times so they can go home I saw everything was pretty much cleaned and ready for them to go home they were turning off the lights before the store was even closed its just extremely inconsiderate and Im professional. When I worked in an if you like this we wouldnt start wrapping up until the end of the night when all the customers were gone its just common courtesy. Will never go here again and Im pretty sure the hours on Google are wrong they say its closed like an hour or so earlier than they really are it just seems like they did that on purpose so they can just go home try to avoid going here at all costs I had to drive back home hungry this is completely unacceptable
Deedees
341 Lafayette St Wellness Center, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
I had heard from various friends, over the course of last two years, about a good vegetarian Indian restaurant in Santa Clara called Deedees. Now the name sounded odd to me and call me stupid, but I put off visiting the place purely based on that. I am used to seeing Indian sounding names for Indian restaurants- a Shalimar or a Madras Cafe or a Bangalore Cafe or a Andhra Bhavan or Aachi Aappa Kadai. So the name Deedees rang no bell and didnt really work for me.Fast forward to last week when a good friend suggested that we meet at that place for a weekday lunch. I figured if nothing else, I could claim that I had been to Deedees and write a review about it. On a surprisingly warm Bay Area afternoon, three of us met for lunch at Deedees. The place is slightly bigger than a hole in the wall, not too far from Santa Clara University. It is hard to find and pretty small. We arrived a tad earlier than peak noon hour and were able to find a good place to sit. I took a peek at the buffet and it seemed, well, different. And so started an excellent culinary experience.Deedees, as I researched once I got back to my computer, is a Gujarati style restaurant with a history. It made its name at a previous location in Mountain View until the economy and a series of unexpected events brought them to their current location in Santa Clara. They were trying to regain their past glory and going by the food, I can confidently say they are on their way.The buffet had some native Gujju dishes, of which I recognized Gujarati Kadhi, Khaman Dhokla, and Shrikhand. They also had poori's instead of the usual naan. The sabzis were excellent. There was also lemon rice. A lady brought warm rotis (not naans) to our table. The food was great. It felt close to home cooked. The typical masala flavors of an Indian buffet were surprisingly absent. And then there is the Shrikhand. It was heavenly. I went in for seconds and enjoyed every smooth and buttery inch of it.I kicked myself for not going to this place earlier. Now I know where I am recommending folks at work. Deedees reminded me that sometimes, its all about the food. The name is just that.
Chandni chowk
3775 Lafayette St, Santa Clara, CA 95054, United States
Chandni Chowk in Santa Clara is a culinary oasis that captures the essence of Indian street food with flair and authenticity. My recent dining experience left me thoroughly impressed, from the first sip of Matka chai to the last bite of Indo-Chinese Triple Schezwan dish. The Matka chai, served in traditional clay pots, was a delightful start to my meal. Its rich aroma and well-balanced spices set the tone for what turned out to be a culinary adventure. The samosa chat was a burst of flavors, with each bite offering a tantalizing combination of crispy samosa and tangy chat toppings that left my taste buds craving for more. The Aslam BBQ chicken was a true revelation. Juicy, soft, and creamy, each piece was a testament to culinary perfection. The flavors were exquisite, and the texture was incredibly tender, making it a standout dish that I would highly recommend.Equally impressive was the Indo-Chinese Triple Schezwan dish. The fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors was executed flawlessly, resulting in a dish that was both comforting and exciting. The spiciness of the Schezwan sauce paired beautifully with the tender vegetables and protein, creating a symphony of flavors that left me thoroughly satisfied.Beyond the exceptional food, the ambiance of Chandni Chowk is a feast for the senses. The truck dhaba vibes and old Bollywood filmy posters transport diners to the bustling streets of India, creating an atmosphere that is lively and inviting. What sets Chandni Chowk apart is its convenient operating hours, staying open till 1 am. This makes it the perfect destination for a late-night craving or a post-party meal. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely dining experience, Chandni Chowk delivers on all fronts.

The Sumo Crunch Sushi Burrito was pretty good. Conceptually, the restaurant works pretty well. The staff very courteous and handled a busy night and lots of orders really well. Good for late night take out, but low quality of food from my order. Perhaps, Ill try one of their many burgers next time. The Salmon Samba Burrito was more like a tuna salad wrap. Tons of lettuce, and the salmon way dry, like the consistency of canned tuna. It was so full of lettuce, it exploded open when I took the wrapper off.Tikka Masala Burrito with Paneer was flavorful, but its was gross and plain. Mushy rice with hardly any paneer. Not fun to eat at all, just plain.Half and Half Lumpia were extremely greasey and couldnt tell them apart, if I even got different kinds. They all tasted the same, greasy little egg rolls. Whats the point of Half and Half if you dont separate them and they dont taste different?Chicken Karaage also very disappointing. Not flavorful at all. Very bland. The dipping sauces on the other hand, everyone I tried was delicious. Loads of flavors and helped the entrées, but not great when the side sauces are the best thing on the menu.
Diablo Foods

If you love FRUIT, make a mental note that this market carries the best fruit in all of California. This is especially true during the summer where no other market offers the sweet peaches ect that Diablo offers. The excellence of the rest of the produce is a close second, along with fresh sushi and cheeses. Many folks have already pointed out the quality of the service, but I would like to be more specific to explain that even if you park far away, the person bagging your groceries follows you to the car which is EXTREMELY convenient and makes up for the parking issues. Now the bad news. Besides what most everyone has already pointed out with regards to the high pricing, I am VERY disappointed in the quality and selection of the fish department. I hope the owner reads my review and visits the fish department 10 minutes away at Market Hall (best quality/selection in 30 mile radius). I also disagree with the comments on the meat dept (excellent service with inconsistent quality meats) and ESPECIALLY the deli dept. The deli dept offerings pale in comparison to the selections and taste of the side dish choices at Market Hall. THE SERVICE IS SUPRISINGLY INCONSISTENT some great staff and some HORRIBLE ones as other reviewers pointed out and yes I can easily give examples. Furthermore, YOU CANNOT BE A WORLD CLASS DELI IF YOU CANT OFFER TASTY IN HOUSE ROASTED TURKEY OR ROAST BEEF!! I have tried for fifteen years, and both are still tasteless so choose the fresh ham. The owner needs to journey to So-Cal to experience world class deli meats!
Papillon Quality Gourmet
67 Lafayette Cir, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
This is a great family-owned local cafe on La Fiesta Square, only a few yards from that other Lafayette staple, Chow. They have an outstanding selection of teas (black, green, herbal, decaffeinated) -- including teas most people have never heard of (e.g., Keemun tea), excellent espresso drinks, pastries, bagels, etc. What makes it special (besides the tea/espresso/etc.) is the family who run the place, the rotating art exhibits, and the local feel. Papillon attracts people of all ages from young mothers with babies to retirees (and everyone in between). Some people come to work on their laptops but a surprising number are there to hang out with their friends and actually talk. There are a few tables outside. Free wifi. My only complaint is that they arent open late, but I suppose they deserve to have a life outside of work. Wonderful place. I wish we had more like this.

Happy to finally find an excellent Asian restaurant in the area. Delicious food, nice waitress, prompt service, can’t ask for more
El Jarro Mexican Cafe
3563 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
I come to Cabo twice a year and stay right around the corner from this place but just finally gave it try on a recent trip. Man have I missed out. Breakfast would consist of a special coffee, fresh juice, a breakfast burrito and club sandwich. The bill was like $16 USD! We ate here at least 3-4 of the days we were here.Service was great even when it was crowded. Id say almost every day we ate there, it was at least 75-90% occupied. Food is really good and well definitely be back.
The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe
3406 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
Met a friend here for brunch yesterday- she stays in Danville and I live in Oakland so when we came up with Lafayette as a meet in the middle location- I immediately went to Yelp for helpful suggestions and The Hideout popped up right away. This place has been on my radar so I was excited to try something new.It did not disappoint- it was about a 15 minute drive for the both of us- the name is accurate...if you blink you will miss the turn in for parking. Its situated mid way on the street and the entrance is tucked away on the side of another business. Although it doesnt look like it, there is plenty of parking on the premises and if youre lucky on the street.Reservations are only for large parties- we were able to get seated right away on a Sunday close to noon as a walk in. We chose the outdoor patio that came with heated lamps and a cute little table top fire place that is self controlled. I took a video but am not able to share. The place is definitely great for brunches, large and small parties, kid and pet friendly. My friend and I ended up ordering the same item- the Harvest Frittata which comes with seasonal veggies like asparagus. It comes with your choice of bread (French or English muffin) and fresh fruit.Presentation was beautiful- I am visual and eat with my eyes.... the smell coming from the plate was what I described to our server JP as herbalicious. Im not sure but I feel like their bread is made in-house- the muffin was thin and crispy and whatever butter they slathered on it....I want to take a bath in it. My friend said the same about her French bread. I couldnt stop eating it- but I finally slowed down enough to get a to go container.Definitely keeping this place on my radar since its so close- great ambience for day and night. LOTS of indoor seating in addition to the outdoor patio- I would love to come back and try the dinner menu.
