A & W Seafood Restaurant

We had just come into town and we wanted to have dim sum for a light lunch somewhere on the way to UCLA. I googled good dim sum places and this one popped up so we decided to try it. It was late afternoon so there was hardly anyone there. The first person you saw was this lady behind the counter when you went in. She did not smile but did ask how many people and we told her two.. So she told this other lady to sit us at a table. Both women were not very welcoming. The lady that sat us down starts rolling the dim sum cart to us. At 2pm there wasnt much to choose from. We ordered the sui mai,the shrimp and scallop dumpling and the fried sesame balls. She almost just started to put a variety of steamers plates on our table but we didnt want what she had in the cart. We ordered the house special chow mein. The food was disppointedly ok. The shrimp scallop dumpling skin was soggy and the flavor was ok. The sui mai wasnt bad but it might have been better if we had come earlier and these item came out piping hot from the big steamer. The fried sesame balls were fresh and delicious. We had two orders of that one with red bean and the other with yellow bean. Yellow bean was our favorite but they ran out. Since there wasnt a lot to choose from the dim sum cart we ordered the house special chow mein. When it came out I was surprised how it was fried up. There were more noodles than there were meat or veget . It was pretty skimpy on the added ingredients that is supposed to be in that chow mein. The third lady that served us was the nicest one there. The chow mein was ok. It did have flavor but it did not have the wok fire and flavor you would find in really good Chinese restaurant. I was disappointed with the quality of food served there and the unfriendliness of the front desk and the first waitress. I will not be going back.

Lum-Ka-Naad

Long story short, it was alright. However, you should ABSOLUTELY NOT under any circumstances order takeout. The food is much better in person. This place makes a mean bean donut, by the way (its on the secret menu).Short story long, I believe in giving every restaurant I try a fair chance and opportunity to impress me. So we went here to try the best dish here. The waiter recommended the Grilled Mackerel (20 minute prep time) and advertised it as pretty good. While this waiter had a convincing smile, we decided to trust him halfway. So we ordered the chicken pad thai (an iThailian classic, to be sure), 2 oz cucumber sauce, and the Grilled Mackerel (20 minute prep time). The first thing to come out is the 2 oz cucumber sauce. The colossal portion could keep my family full for minutes. I couldnt even finish it. Next came the chicken pad thai. Pretty standard stuff, the seasoning was well balanced, but I would have felt some severe second-hand embarrassment for the restaurant had they NOT gotten down their freaking chicken pad thai. Finally, the pork and beans out comes the Grilled Mackerel (20 minute prep time). And let me be straight up, the Grilled Mackerel (20 minute prep time) was nothing short of iffy, I have no clue what the waiter was thinking recommending it to us. Regardless, I do like a meal that stares back at me while Im eating it. Kind of annoying that the chef left the meat on the fish (lol), but after picking all the bones out, we could finally discard the flesh. The fins were a little soft, sickening if you ask me. Absolutely would not come back for mackerel dorsal fin. The bones were pretty bland and very awkward to actually chew and swallow. Pretty much the only redeeming part of the fish was its eyeballs. Ill be honest the Grilled Mackerel (20 min prep time) had prepossessing eyes, and they tasted equally as beautiful. However, the bean donut was fantastic. Frankly, the only reason I gave this place 4 stars was that 1. google will delete my review if I go any lower, and 2. the bean donut was BOMB. Its not on the main menu, you have to ask your waiter for it, and they can only make it for dine-in. Ultimately, This is why I will never order takeout from this place. Also would like to mention that I found a small slab of 12L14 steel in my pad thai, not sure if that was intended or not. =/

Pho 22
9651 Reseda Blvd, Northridge, CA 91324, United States
I stopped by this Pho place today to grab lunch. I was in the area picking up my suit so I figured I would try this place out. I looked at their menu online and though the price was reasonable. I found parking easily here because I came before the rush because after lunch, finding parking can be difficult here. I came right when the place open so they were not busy at all. You can place your order over the phone but since I came when they just open, I put in my order in person. I got the 4 piece spring rolls and bbq beef bun me. The lady said it should take about 10 minutes for my food to be ready so I waited inside the restaurant. The place isnt that big inside but I guess it works for them. My food took about 20 minutes to be ready and I took it to eat at home. I thought the spring rolls were okay but not the best and they dont give you much sauce. The bahn mi was delicious, I just didnt like the tomato in it and it seems smaller than other places. If I have a chance to come back, I might try their pho since I saw they have free refill on the noodles.

WaBa Grill

During my recent visit to the Northridge Csun Waba Grill, I had the pleasure of being served by Emily, who truly made my dining experience unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, Emily greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile, making me feel right at home. What stood out to me the most was her extensive knowledge of the menu. She was incredibly insightful, providing detailed explanations of the dishes, which made it so much easier for me to make a decision. Not only was Emily knowledgeable, but her recommendations were spot on. She suggested a few of her favorites, and I decided to give them a try. I was absolutely delighted with my choices; the flavors were exceptional, and I could tell that her suggestions were made with my preferences in mind. Its not often you come across someone who takes the time to deliver such personalized service. I'll be coming back for sure!

Loved the Asian food experience. We did not know that you could get extra rice like you get tortillas at a mexican restaurant for free until the end but the food was really delicious and the traditional ambience definitely added to enjoyment of the meal. If you want great asian food in a restaurant setting come here!

I haven't been to WaBa grill in a while and I don't think I will come back based on my experience today. I was at the gym so decided to get a rice and veggie bowl for lunch since it's next door to LA fitness 8 ordered extra chicken which totaled this bowl to be $16.93…when I arrived my food wasn't ready so I observed a bit while waiting. There was cooked chicken just sitting on a cutting board in the back which okay maybe that's what they do.When I received my bowl I questioned whether the amount of chicken was extra based off what I paid for. The person at the register asked and I heard the guy in the back say “yeah yeah” to his question about it being extra meat… well you all take a look at the photo if that is double meat then A regular order would've been half of that? Absolutely not work $17 at all. If I didn't have to get back to work I would've took it back. Either way I won't be back here, I'll stick to my other healthy food lunch spot in Northridge.

I'm a little disappointed how people don't come to this place. I think it's just the owner doing all the cooking and cleaning etc. please stop by at this place!!! It's also not that expensive for two!! My boyfriend and I ate for $23!!! We got pad Thai dinner special and pineapple fried rice. BOMBBB FOODD!! Also parking is right behind it so there's plenty of space.

The owner is so stingy. He usually serves food. He puts as little as possible. Even with sauces he fills 1/3of the container. I usually get orange chicken and chew mein . last time chicken smelled horrible and it was obvious it was not fresh or kept in a right temp. I thew it in trash. Yesterday i went to get a same thing and before placing my order i told one of rhe staff about my previous experience. She just looked at me and said Ok. I said look i come here often becuase i live near by i just want to let you and make sure you follow all the requirements to serve hot food so people will not get sick. If i had eaten that chicken i would have gotton sick. She said they check tempreture every 10 mins. While she was preparing my order the owner walked by and gave her a look. She started putting pieces of chicken from my container back to the main dish. I guess his look meant you are giving her too much ?. And she touched money and served customers. This is unsanitary. They should have 2 staff in the front. One to serve food and one as cashier. She then told the owner my story he said nothing. If were him i would say i am sorry you had that experience i ll make sure my saff and i are following all the requirements and make sure we serve fresh ingredients as much as possible and keep food ( cooked or uncooked) in right tempreture.

Shogun Sushi
10174 Reseda Blvd, Northridge, CA 91324, United States
Ive been here a few times in the past many years as it was a favored location by friends (never mine personally). The visit that really put me off was my visit on Sunday, April 9th 2017 at around 6 or 7PM or so - evening time. I was meeting up with friends and I got there about 10 min late and my friends were there already and sat down. We were only given the paper slip for marking down sushi but I wanted the full menu so I asked for it. Didnt get it right away, probably waited about 5 minutes. Took another 5 minutes for a waiter to come and take our order, actually it was one of the owners that took our order. So at this point, It took 10 min for me, 20 min for my friends to finally get an order in. I will pause here and say Im still okay at this point in waiting since it was probably peak or close to peak time so the restaurant was busy. Judging from how the restaurant was being run, it looked like 2 of the waiters were new, still trying to get a hold of things, one who is a seasoned waiter and it seemed the owner was trying to help out as well. I know how restaurants work and I have patience. That said, while we waited for our food, my friends and I chatted and waited patiently. It wasnt until I realized that a group of people who were sat in a booth after we were sat got their foods first and even finished their meal and another group sat in that booth and yet, our food was no where to be seen. We wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but after a 40 minute wait and not even a soup being served, i grabbed the veteran waiter (who was waiting our table) and inquired politely whats going on with our food and that we have waited for over 40 minutes. Im sure the waiter thought we were exaggerating. Ive seen (and I bet you have too) people who wait 5 minutes and say they have been waiting for half an hour.. but he came back, acknowledged that we have indeed been waiting that long as it was time stamped and basically gave us the excuse that they were short handed therefore our food was not started yet. Thankfully, my friends were also very understanding and patient so we waited further, where at this point, most people would storm out. I was another 10 min until our food finally started to arrive. So we ate, and paid, no tip of course, and before we left, we asked again, this time the owner, why it took so long. My friends and I dont like to jump to conclusions and were hoping for a valid reason behind the massive delay. The response we got was outrageous and unbelievable. The owner said, from her mouth, that because her friends came to visit the restaurant, she allowed speedy service to them... which in return forgot our orders. She is totally playing favoritism and she admitted it to a customer. Never have I seen or heard that before but it was pretty appalling.A week later, another friend wanted to grab something small and quick and had picked this location so I met up with her and I just had water and 2 orders of sushi. That took about 25 minutes from the point of me ordering to me getting my food. Now at this point, I have re-affirmed my opinion about this place. I was also told by my friend that he too went again a few weeks later and although my friend got a decent service this time, waiting about 10 min or so for his food, the friends he was with didnt get theirs for a while and they were apparently pissed. That said, even if I got an apology from the owner and they offered a free meal, I wouldnt go because that would mean the owner is now favoring me which means there could be someone else who falls victim to waiting.Im not blaming the chefs. Im not blaming the servers (since some seemed new - if they arent new, this place has terrible training). I do blame the veteran server a little since if you are a veteran, you should be able to see whats going on throughout the restaurant and know when tables are not getting attention. The whole restaurant isnt that big. But mostly I blame the owner(s) who have no freakin idea how to run a restaurant and or is too incompetent.

Panda Express

Panda Express is one of my favorite places, but this location, not so much. I arrived around 7:00pm on a Friday evening and they were out of almost everything I wanted. They said it would just be a few minutes, but I ended up waiting about 15 minutes. They were also completely out of steamed rice which I though was weird for a Panda Express. The portion sizes at this location, I noticed are a lot smaller than other locations. The staff also did not seem very friendly and looked miserable to be there. The location is convenient, close to a college, and the parking lot is big, but I will probably go to a different location in the future. I dont like being disappointed.
