Thai Paradise Restaurant
3551 Camino Mira Costa # B, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
Placed a phone order. Showed up and told them my name, young lady already looked annoyed. Asked what was in my order because it didn't look like mine. She immediately rolled her eyes and said it's what you ordered “dawn”. Perplexed, I said my name was John. She was already charging my card. Canceled the charge. Grabbed another order from the table and proceeded to charge me. I asked again what's in the bag, she proceeded to tell me my order. Two spring rolls and chicken curry. I asked for extra sweet and sour sauce, rolled her eyes again and went to go grab it but stopped and said that will be a dollar… I just spent 38 bucks and now I'm charged for sauce because prices went up “it cost money to make sauce”. This place has never been cheap and that didn't matter. Been in San Clemente all my life and have been going there a long while. This will be my last time coming to this place. Customer service was horrible. I don't need someone's attitude especially if I'm spending money as a consumer. Threw the food away and didn't try it. Negative energy in a restaurant is not for me.
Samila Thai Restaurant
2415 Clement St #1921, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Ive never left a food review before but this place is just THAT good. Ive tried my fair share of Thai food places in San Francisco, and was always a bit disappointed at the noodles and curries (I was spoiled by some amazing Thai food where I grew up before moving to SF). This place hits the nail on the head, though. The pad thai is perfectly seasoned, has a great noodle texture and a healthy serving of veggies/tofu/peanuts/etc. (subjectively, of course). I tried the Eggplant dish the other day and I couldnt believe that eggplants could be that buttery and delicious. Lastly, the food is always hot and prepared on time for take out!Definitely recommend, Im glad its in my neighborhood! Please support this restaurant, especially now!
B Star
127 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
B Star gets high marks for its friendly and attentive staff. They were incredibly accommodating when we requested to move our reservation to an earlier time, which was a huge plus. The restaurant itself offers two seating areas – a standard indoor space and a patio area in the back. The patio looked charming, but we opted for the warmer indoor space on this particular visit.Their SF Restaurant Week menu was a delightful exploration of Pan-Asian flavors, with Burmese influences taking center stage. We tried a variety of dishes, with mixed results:Laksa (traditional Burmese soup): This coconut curry broth-based soup was a flavorful adventure. The combination of rice noodles, grilled shrimp, crispy tofu, and fresh herbs offered a delightful mix of textures and tastes.Burmese lamb curry platter: The lamb itself was beautifully tender, and the pickled mango added a nice tangy counterpoint. However, the overall curry flavor profile felt a bit muted. It could have benefited from a bolder, more complex spice blend.Tea leaf salad: This classic Burmese salad was a textural and flavor explosion. The fermented tea leaves provide a unique savory base, while the nuts, fried garlic, and fresh vegetables add delightful contrasting textures. This was a definite highlight of the meal.B Sprouts: The Brussels sprouts were delicious and cooked well but the crunchy bits (furikake) were too crunchy and after a few bites, we were just simply picking the brussel sprouts and getting rid of the furikake and the popped rice.Rice pudding: As we were one of the first tables seated after opening, the lychee panna cotta wasnt ready yet. We could only opt for the rice pudding instead. While the rice pudding itself was creamy, it lacked any real standout flavor. We were also full by then.Thai iced tea: The Thai iced tea was watered down and lacked the rich, bold flavors.Overall, B Star has a lot of potential. The staff is fantastic, and the menu offers intriguing Pan-Asian options. However, the execution of some dishes fell short.
Mongkut Thai Restaurant
212 Avenida Del Mar, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
This is one of my favorite places to have Thai food in Orange County. Not only has one of the most authentic Asian dishes, but one of the best places to dine in, or to carry out. For years I have come and go, as I moved from San Clemente, but whenever I visit, this is the perfect spot to visit. They have a wide range of delicious dishes, made with passion and care. In this case I order a couple of appetizers, a rice dish, and three more entrees, and all of them were delicious, also their Thai iced tea, is to die forIf you’re ever down in San Clemente California and looking for an authentic Thai restaurant don’t hesitate to visit this jewel on the coast. It’s a wonderful spot, you can check the beach after a great lunch here. You will not regret your visit. Until then I hope to return soon to enjoy my favorite place. Love my Thai food, and beautiful San Clemente ! :)
Pho Thanh Binh
107 Via Pico Plaza, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
We decided to pull over to eat to wait out traffic. It's conveniently located off the highway with great reviews. This place is very affordable for a place that's near the beach. It did not sacrifice taste even though it's far from the Vietnamese community. They offer 3 sizes for pho ranging from $11-$15. We got a small bowl of chicken pho ($11.50), small house combo pho ($12), side of oxtail ($8), and fried spicy chicken wings located under “side” ($15). It came with rice! The pho was decent, the oxtail was on the smaller end and not as tender but it had so much meat! It was like eating ribs.I found it odd the spicy fried chicken wings was not under appetizer but under sides. Different than the garlic wings listed under appetizer. It also came with rice! The wings were jumbo. Such a great deal. It was a wet marination and not spicy. We would definitely stop here again in the feature if we need to wait out traffic.Plenty of parking, outdoor seating possible and they have a private room for large parties.
Burma Superstar
309 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
My wife and I have been to every burma superstar several times. Burma Superstar has been one of my wifes all time favorites for almost a decade. Went for lunch Oct 12. It was a special day and wanted special food to celebrate. Got the spicy chicken stir fry and egg okra curry plus some rice and drinks. I want to point out the service was AMAZING such friendly helpful people super nice, speedy and attentive. However the food was average at best. Even the tea leaf salad was really underwhelming. Thats like THE thing you get as an appetizer. The food was ok, probably average for any other Burmese place, but its not as good as we expect. We drove across town, parked, then walked past probably six other asian restaurants to go here specifically.
Panda Express
806 Avenida Pico A, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
I ordered the super greens, black pepper chicken, white rice with sweet and sour sauce on it and 1 vegetable spring roll. Everything was cooked very well. Taste was outstanding. Definitely ordering this again! It was the first time I ordered the super greens. I loved the flavor but found the texture a little harder than expected in some of the green parts. The white was soft and melted in my mouth. Highly recommend for veggie lovers. I like the black pepper chicken because its hot but it doesnt have a kick to it. I can pick all if the big pieces of chicken out of it and eat it with my sweet and sour rice for a fun flavor balance. It is standard for them to sell 2 spring rolls at a time but I knew I was not going to eat it. They had a difficult time with this at first, until I finally said I would buy 2 but just give me 1 because I dont want it waisted. Then one of the ladies heard what was happening and showed the younger person how to ring me up with just 1 spring roll. The place is clean, bathroom is clean, and very easy to find parking. Hit this place up if you have a chance! I highly recommend.
D & A Cafe
407 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
Do you enjoy mediocre Chinese/Hong Kong food? Are you on a super tight budget? Do you mind possibly unclean, probably unsafe food practices? This is the place for you!Their happy hour specials are super cheap! The happy hour times are 9AM-11AM, 3PM-6PM, and 10PM-1AM; basically any hour that isnt rush lunch or dinner time. Specials range in prices from $2.88, $3.25, $3.95, or $4.95. You can get french fries on the super cheap end or honey walnut shrimp on the more pricer side of the happy hour menu. They also have great drink specials at $1.79 during happy hour, though I would not recommend the hot milk tea, which tasted like tea and powdered baby formula... They did have great drink specials posted on the walls, like watermelon juice with boba for only $1.88! Complementary hot tea comes with every meal. The only item that I would highly recommend from the happy hour menu would be the salt and pepper tofu, crispy and crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside, lightly dusted with salt and pepper and tossed with sliced green jalapenos and chopped green onions. The $4.95 plate is large enough to share with friends as an appetizer or snack.I would also recommend the BBQ pork cheung fun (rice roll), four rolls with minced BBQ pork tucked inside of soft rice rolls, drizzled with light, sweet soy sauce and garnished with green onions. FOr $3.25, this makes a good munch for a quick bite. The only thing that would deter me from eating here (though not from ordering take-out!) is the ambient volume. On top of the two TVs playing some ABC evening drama and FOX sitcom, in addition to the Chinese pop music blasting from the Bose bluetooth speakers, patrons seem to keep the place feeling busy by speaking at THE LOUDEST POSSIBLE VOLUME. Alas, this has been a conundrum that has stumped mankind: which came first, the chicken or the egg? In this case I cant tell if people speak loudly to top the volume of the two TVs and music, or the two TVs and music are loud in volume to top the sound of people talking...
New Mandarin Garden
111 W Avenida Palizada, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
Confusingly aggressive staff??? The service at the restaurant is truly deplorable. The people are rude, unnecessarily entitled, condescending and flat out unpleasant. When you try and order by phone they have a tendency to scream or even hang up on you when you ask fo something as simple as extra broccoli. No matter how kind and sincere you are they act like you just asked them to make the sky green and the grass blue and have it ready for pick up in 10 minutes. HOWEVER, having said that, the one undeniable thing this restaurant has to “bring to the plate” (pun intended ;)) is that their food is a actually quite delicious. Perfect for a greasy Chinese food take out and watch a moving at home! Do not recommend dining in however is dirty and unpleasant to be around such a staff and they do not make it easy to have a comfortable and leisurely dining experience but the younger staff who do not act like your every order is a great inconvenience are actually quite lovely and a breath of fresh air! Watch out for their return on your bill though! That have a frequent tendency to not give you back the correct change and hope you don't notice.
