New Hong Kong Restaurant
1750 E 14th St, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I took star off because the driver decided he was going to tip himself without allowing me to hand him what I wanted to tip him. I think thats more of an insult to me because he assumed I wasnt going to tip and theft because he didnt ask me he just took it I hand him some money for the tip and when I counted it I realized he had already tipped himself so he got tipped twice. My fault for not counting it before closing the door. This was my first time ordering so he had no idea if I was going to tip or not and it does not okay the theft.Food is hot and delicious. prices a little high but the amount of food you get is worth it. Just know if you order the shrimp or anything with shrimp in it they are really skimpy on the shrimp. Delivery was very fast didnt need to wait all day like I do with my pizza LOL. Food was very neat and not leaking all over the bag its been a long time since Ive saw that packaged very well kudos
Bonchon
1275 Washington Ave, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
Years ago when Bonchon arrived in the Bay Area I had the chance to try their chicken at the South San Francisco location. However, I was not impressed but I may want to give the chicken a second chance. This time in San Leandro I ordered the Bibimbap, and what a mistake. I suggest to customers to never try anything that a restaurant is not known for other than their specialty. So if you come here don’t try their bibimbap, tacos, wraps, japjae, etc.On their menu it is not listed whether you are getting the hot stone bowl or the cold bibimbap. This is a big deal for me because I don’t like the hot stone. It literally stays fire hot beyond the time that you stay there. Plus the waiters do not warn you and there’s no protection between you and the hot pot. You easily can burn yourself. So do not order it if you are with little kids. Now for the food. The bibimbap I got was very Americanized. They used few and very cheap ingredients in it. You don’t even get any banchan (side dishes). For the meat I requested chicken but they don’t serve you dakgui. Instead I got some dry, tough chicken breast meat. Flavor wise it was not good either. The chef placed the little container of sauce on top of the boiling meat which allowed the plastic container to melt on top of the food. I don’t know why this was considered safe. And the thing that I consider the worst was the use of American rice instead of Asian rice. Yup, they definitely used long grain rice. Anyway, not coming back for this item again. The best part this visit was the service. The boys were attentive. If you use the hand dryer in the bathroom, be ready for a deafening experience.
Mai Thai
13700 Doolittle Dr, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I recently ordered takeout from Mai Thai restaurant, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The green papaya salad was refreshingly crisp and bursting with flavor, a testament to the freshness of their ingredients. The chicken satay was equally impressive, perfectly grilled and seasoned to perfection, making each bite a savory delight.Beyond the delicious food, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the exceptional customer service, even for takeout orders. The staff ensured that everything was well-packaged and ready for pickup, and their friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. Moreover, Mai Thai offers affordable prices without compromising on quality, making it a fantastic option for those craving authentic Thai cuisine without breaking the bank.Overall, I highly recommend Mai Thai for both dine-in and takeout experiences. With their delicious food, cleanliness, excellent customer service, and affordability, they truly stand out as a top-notch Thai restaurant worth returning to again and again.
Lotus Leaf
277 Parrott St, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I used to eat here 1-2 times a week on my way home from work for years— it was a a wonderful, quiet, relaxing place to unwind, have a glass of wine and a wonderful meal after a hectic day.The waitresses were friendly and attentive, knew what I always ordered, and the service was very quick. But things changed drastically in the beginning of January 2023. Apparently the wonderful women who had worked there for many years all retired and were replaced by very young men who have never worked in a restaurant before and who have no clue about the word “service”. To get a refill on my drink, get extra peanut sauce, get another napkin, etc all have required a visit to the desk to get service. These young guys never made rounds of the tables to see if anyone needed anything else; they should be working in a fast food joint! What a shame as the food is wonderful but it's all spoiled by the poor service. I have stopped going there and now go the extra block to Soleil in Pelton Plaza. So I give Lotus Leaf 5 stars for the food and 1 star (being generous) for service. So sad.
Fat Fish
14701 E 14th St, San Leandro, CA 94578, United States
I was happy with the checker she shortened my change. My change was a dollar something and she only gave me my change. My girlfriend only got water in her cup and knowing the girl at the register ripped me off for a dollar I checked my receipt and she charged me for two extra sodas and I told my girlfriend I wasn't happy and I didn't want to confront the young lady because I might get mad so my girlfriend went up there and the other girl was at the register and my girlfriend told her about the mistake and the girl who handled my transaction told the other girl in Spanish that my girlfriend got a bottled water in Spanish and that she seen her well my girlfriend speaks Spanish so she told her that she didn't and the girl was only going to refund one drink but refunded two. My girlfriend didn't even mention the dollar I was shorted. I was not Even going to mention it to my girlfriend until I seen the receipt. Food was good but I expect honesty when it comes to my money especially when I spend just shot of 40 dollars ?
A1 Pho
2089 E 14th St a1, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
Management changed (yet again!) a couple of months ago, and now its Pho La Sen here at this location. We like what theyve done with the decor- there are unobstructed windows all around and its bright and open inside. Most importantly- their pho is tasty again! We got the P1 (combo with lots of meat variety). There are no size choices- everyone gets the same standard bowl. Portions and prices are nothing to write home about (pretty standard across the board) but the soup broth is tasty and goes well with the cilantro and other veggies provided. Its not too heavy with meat flavors, but well seasoned and yummy. The uncle at the counter was welcoming and attentive, as well. :)Give them a try! We look forward to coming back the next time we have a craving for nice, filling soup!
Dough Zone Dumpling House San Leandro
1376 E 14th St, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I normally dont like to post negative reviews and understand restaurant business are hard to run nowadays. This review is simply for the front desk host and the restaurants way of managing people in line. I added my name on the waiting list for a party of 3 (1 adult and 2 kids) and arrived when no one was waiting. The lady at the front desk told us we were the first on the list and will get the next table. We waited for almost 30 mins for two tables to become available. One of the tables is 4 seats and the other is 6 seats. However, the lady gave both tables away to two parties of 4 that came after us. We asked them for an explanation on why they were able to get to a table before us. The answer was because our party was for a small table (2-3 people) and that other table has 4 seats. I had a quick glance and noticed only 2 tables were for 3 people but they are really meant for 2 to sit comfortably. This is not normally how I would expect to happen especially after waited for almost 30 mins. I walked away and brought my business elsewhere. Would love to try this place otherwise. If you still want to try this place, just be prepared that your table might not be guaranteed even if you are next on the waitlist and the waiting time might be longer than expected due to how the restaurant prioritizes table by party size instead of waiting list order.
Panda Express
1271 Marina Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
Panda Express, anywhere you go, can have varied quality. Some of them, like the one I go to near Stanford, has top shelf service and as good a quality as you can expect for the entire chain. Others I simply wouldnt go to.I go to this one a couple times a month, because the food quality is more important than the service, which cant be screwed up that badly. Everybody knows that is dependent upon the person working, and there is not that much you can do about it.Though most people have a few tricks to get a bad worker through the ordering and service process so they can just get their food and get on with it, this location tries. The cooks try harder than the service counter people, though they are not that bad as to say anything negative. This location gets my order right about 50% of the time. Not a happy place thing for me, for sure, but, the convenience makes it tolerable most of the time. That is, until today. This Panda really only is worth three stars, in that you wont get sick, they are polite and fast, but the quality and the accuracy counts a lot for me, so the half the time thing was working against them.Like I said, until today. When I came today, Robi, the supervisor or manager in the black shirt was working. She not only made my experience pleasant, with her courtesy, attitude and professionalism (and Ive worked my fair share of food jobs to know one when I get it) and accuracy - not to mention he just down right good person-ness, really made up a lot for the not so happy place experiences Ive had their before. So the review is three stars for the Panda, and one star all for her for Robi, who made sure I got the freshest pot stickers, maintained portion control so food costs were managed, where another worker might have varied from too little to too much. She gave me good portions, clean setup from one station to another, a mark of a pro, frankly, everything food wise was a good as it could get for this location, and, most of all, we had the nicest conversation. It was like the universe giving us several personal moments together in between long lines filling up fast for me to really change my attitude about this Panda, and to genuinely enjoy my consultation with Jodi in the few, delightful minutes we shared.Im gonna go back because it is near my comic book studio, but my consumer attitude will be different now that I have met and enjoyed the professional service and lovely smile of Robi.In fact, she is so good at what she does and who she is, I suspect she will not be there very long and will be moving up the ladder of success faster than I can make it back to this location. The Lone Comic TMDefender of Creativity and Entertainment SMUpdate 6/8/2017Robi is gone now and while the staff remains friendly and personable, the food is just not as good as it once was, and I would have to call it marginal at best. Thus, I am downgrading my rating for good cause. The Lone Comic TM
Beijing Bowl
14400 Washington Ave, San Leandro, CA 94578, United States
For a reasonably priced meal that consistently satisfies. All of their food is very good, but their BBQ chicken breast is the highlight every time. Portion sizes are huge. My teen boys barely finish their 3 item combo. I get a solid 3 meals out of my 2 item combo. The food is always reasonably fresh at the buffet, and their cook-to-order items come out reasonably quickly. Their family meal combos are a great deal for larger families. Its best to take the food to go. The interior is clean but worn and could use a spruce up. It would have been a great place to get a COVID grant/loan to improve the dining area. I have no idea why they keep the front door open (perhaps for ventilation?) which lets in traffic noise from the street. The staff is efficient, very courteous, and generous with their serving sizes. They are willing to help you figure out what you want and will give you a sample of the buffet items if you want a taste before ordering. As soon as they see an item getting low, they order fresh. Most do the change out properly by trading pans and putting the remains of the previous pan on top, but one girl last week put the new on top of the old. I mentioned this to the other server who said she would train her properly. Our food is always hot, but I would also like to catch them putting a thermometer into the food every so often to verify the temp. In our 10 years of eating there, we have never gotten sick from their food.
Minami Sushi
699 Lewelling Blvd Suite 142, San Leandro, CA 94579, United States
Amazing space with the best service and people! It looked dark when we arrived the first time - I am so glad we went and checked the door, because yes, they ARE open, it just looks dark because of the window tinting! Took our 8 year old, because she LOVES sushi - they brought her several extras, because kid - edamame, some soup, a special taste of a new sushi she hadnt tried before - all at no charge! That was over a year ago, and go regularly now, and she always gets at least one special treat on the house when we eat in. Its really kind of them, and I really appreciate having a space that makes kid-dining SPECIAL. Theyve got a long range view - theyre creating a customer for LIFE! Id highly recommend for families.(This is super important for me, as I personally dont like sushi at ALL, but kiddo wanted to try, so we did. They really sold her on it, so again, this non-sushi person is a regular here now, and that is because they helped me create / get a sushi loving kid! She eats EVERYTHING on the menu, and I get the chicken. She flinches at any new food, but because they presented it right, didnt flinch at eating eel, and now specifically asks for it! Same with squid and several other obscure ingredients. Major cheers for expanding her palate!)
