Ph Saigon Restaurant
5304 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95820, United States
This was embarrassingly bad. I wont order from here ever again. It has the worst honey walnut shrimp I have ever seen from any Asian restaurant and its 17 dollars for the plate. Everything just looked unappetizing after we received out order.
Asian Pearl Restaurant
6821 Stockton Blvd #165, Sacramento, CA 95823, United States
DO NOT BOOK ASIAN PEARL FOR AN EVENT by any means necessary. Terrible customer service, all amenities are broken, and Asian Pearl will not do anything about it.Sadly, the recent birthday party we booked at this establishment was the WORST service we could have possibly received which ruined the party and soured the memories of what was supposed to be a beautiful celebration. Note that about 10 years ago we held a similar celebration that went fine, so we thought returning here in 2022 would work well again - but we could not have been more wrong. This place completely declined in quality and NO ONE should ever book an event here again. We paid the full price they asked of us for our 110 people party, which was supposed to include food, all of their amenities and staff for the event space of the back half of the resturant which is separated by a removable wall. We booked a DJ, planned to show video, and planned out the layout of the back half of the resturant for our event. The amenities we planned to use were ALL BROKEN. Digital screen - broken. Projector - broken. Speakers - all but one broken which was still malfunctioning. Stacks of chairs that we did not need were left in the room on set up day which did not make for a nice looking event. The WORST part of all of this is that we booked our event being told that we were the only party planned for that date. However, come to our surprise on the day of, we discovered that we were DOUBLE BOOKED and that there was an entire party happening on the other side of their removable wall. At first, this did not seem like a problem as we were setting up, but it ended up being the most crucial component to ruining our event that we had paid Asian Pearl several thousand dollars for.Because we were double booked, we had members of the other party walking into our party to use the only restroom available in the venue. That was more of an annoyance than a total event killer, but still unprofessional nonetheless.Because we were double booked, we had half of staff service. We had multiple requests from the servers that were never fulfilled - simple things like serving beverages or delivering food were either never met or took multiple times asking. The other party they double booked WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE was so loud and rowdy that we could not hear anything in our own party. We could not hear any of our speeches, music, or videos through the venues already half broken speaker system. When we asked the manangers to tell the other party to turn their music and microphone down, nothing was done. After asking for a third time, I had to physically stand in the doorway between the parties and watch the manager go up to their equipment to turn it down. Even then, the rowdy party would turn their music back up which drowned out our event. I kept asking the staff to turn it down so frequently that they began avoiding me and walking away from me when I was heading their direction. We could not even enjoy our own event. Our guests were shocked and completely distracted by the neighboring party and lack of service from the staff. It was so chaotic that it completely ruined what was supposed to be an extremely sentimental celebration for our family. The main recollection that all of our guests had is that the party next door was so loud and rowdy that we could not focus and enjoy our own, and Asian Pearl never told us about the other event nor did anything to help manage itWe recently returned to complain about all of these shortcomings and the owner only offered a $200 refund. Thats all. One of the biggest moments of our family members life that we spent years imagining, months planning, and thousands of dollars on - completely ruined.
Ph King 2 Restaurant
6830 Stockton Blvd #180, Sacramento, CA 95823, United States
I was in the mood for a hot bowl of Pho and fortunately this craving overtook me while I was driving north on Stockton Blvd near Florin, a location surrounded by numerous restaurants offering this famous Vietnamese dish.Pho King is a small easy to miss restaurant just a stones throw away from its more famous rival, Pho Saigon. Years ago I visited this restaurant and it always stuck in my memory how good the food and service was. Tonight was no different.I was a little surprised to see how empty the place was right around dinner time but it was a weekday and customer count isnt always a good indicator of quality. The waitress immediately greeted me with a friendly smile and motioned for me to sit wherever I wanted. I knew what I wanted and ordered a small bowl of #6. The soup arrived piping hot and the plate of bean sprouts, jalapeno pepper and basil looked fresh and crisp.I immediately dropped the veges into the steaming broth and mixed them around with the noodles hiding underneath. It was now time to dig in. I grabbed my chopsticks and pulled out a giant clump of noodles. Yum! Sometimes restaurants make the Pho broth way too salty and I always am prepared to ask for a hot cup of water to dilute it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that wasnt necessary this time. The savory broth had just the right amount of salt. The meat was tender and the tendon had just the right soft and slightly chewy texture.Pho King IMO maintains its rank as being one of the best places to eat Pho in Sacramento.
Ph Bolsa Restaurant
5815 Stockton Blvd #A, Sacramento, CA 95824, United States
I went there back in the day and had a great meal. When I went to pay (this was probably 20 years ago) they didnt take ATM and I didnt have money. The older lady who Ive always guessed was the owner told me with a smile on her face not to worry and pay next time. I came back with my wife and paid for our dinner and the lunch I had before. Since then Ive taken countless people, family and friends there. Its always been good and Ill never forget the kindness of that lady the first time I went there. My mother was always a big fan of the crispy pan fried noodles with seafood combination. Its hard for me to go back to this restaurant since my mother has died. Maybe Im afraid the older lady has passed too. Anyway I will always be a fan of Pho Bolsa.
Hidden Sichuan Restaurant
9160 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
Hidden Sichuan is our favorite Asian restaurant in Elk Grove. I love the spicy, complex, layered flavor profiles. Magic chili beef is great! I normally dont like fish, but I always order st least one fish dish a visit. The dish is tender and succulent. There are mild dishes for those not into spicy, and vegetarian mock meat dishes, which I have not tried yet.
Bonchon North Stockton
7840 West Ln Suite E-3, Stockton, CA 95210, United States
Update: Tuesday, August 15, 2023 PMIt's sad…this place has a lot of potential, but I've had issues the majority of the time. I've been served soggy chicken that was not fresh that I had to send back. Tonight I specified that my order be cooked fresh with extra sauce. The top few pieces of chicken did seem to be fresh but underneath, the drums were dried out and as hard as rocks! When I am paying good money, yes this stuff is expensive, I expect my dinner to be hot and fresh and cooked to order. Is that too much to ask?I don't know whether the employees don't care or whether the owner doesn't care. I don't know where the problem is from but I wish them luck. When I left around 7:30 PM there was not a soul in the restaurant! I wonder how long they're going to be a business?Kudos to the wait staff. They took good care of me!————————Update: 1/3/22No Bueno! No consistency here. Maybe it depends on who's cooking.Last time was good. The chicken was hot, fresh and crunchy. This time, even though I asked for my chicken to be hot and fresh, it was barely warm and certainly not crunchy! There was a language barrier between me and my server. I asked for my chicken to be hot and fresh and she thought I meant spicy. No… I said hot and fresh. I had to repeat it several times. The soup was OK.The floors under table number 22 are sticky as hell. I had to rinse the bottom of my shoes off when I got home. I had a hard time finding a place to put my feet under the table so they didn't stick to the floor. What's wrong with this restaurant? No ice tea! What country am I living in?The owner of this restaurant should do more hands-on management so he knows what's going on. They did not have much business tonight.I've given this restaurant several chances. A few times were good but most the time not so good. No more chances! Bye-bye————————Chicken is good. Expensive prices. The soup was OK. Good service
Ph Xe Lua
5331 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95820, United States
We all know South Sacramento has some of the most amazing & authentic Asian restaurants. Ive been to my fair share of them over the years and have rarely been disappointed. Which takes me to a business that has withstood the test of time. This is none other than Pho Xe Lua Having been opened since 2007 with hundreds of fairly positive reviews, this place is located directly on Stockton Blvd. and just north of Fruitridge Rd.Their menu is very extensive as they offer a mix of Chinese, Thai, & Vietnamese all under one roof. Sometimes this can be a turnoff as too many options may not necessarily be a good thing. Whether your appetite is craving Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Charbroiled dishes (with rice or noodles), Pho, Pad Thai, Teriyaki, or an extensive amount of beverages (coffee, lemonades, teas, shakes), this place definitely has it all. Since this place focuses mainly as Vietnamese, I chose this as my food of choice for lunch.I was also drawn to this place because they are one of the participating restaurants on DoorDash. I dont use their app often as I enjoy picking up food myself at the actual restaurant (to meet the employees, management, etc.). However, what drew me here was their $2.99 delivery fee and only a 25-35 minute turnaround time to get my food. So I took my chances and thankfully it did indeed take only 30 minutes. My delivery driver brought my food at the front entrance to my office building, sealed in a plastic bag as the food was piping hot in the container. The entree of choice that I ordered was one of their most popular, the #40 - Com Chả Giò Tôm Thịt Nớng (Bò Hoặc Gà). It was essentially a charbroiled pork dish complete with skewered shrimp, steamed rice, a veggie egg roll, & salad. It also came with a side of dressing, soy sauce, and chopsticks. The overall portion was quite generous. But words of advice ordering through DoorDash; the app charged $12.95 for this entree while the restaurants website only charges $9.95 for this. After you factor in the price of the food + DoorDash fees + tip, I paid about $23 for everything. Just something everyone might want to think about if youre on a budget. The food overall was very tasty as there were significant seasoned pieces of pork while the egg roll was a decent size. The rice was the heartiest amount of food as well as a substantial amount of salad. Overall, Pho Xe Lua was tasty and definitely above average. I enjoyed every bite and cleaned my plate. But I will have to make a future visit to truly enjoy the experience. My rating, four stars.
Royal India Cuisine & Bar
7610 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95207, United States
My brother and I tried this place out to check out some appetizers. I must say we were very disappointed in the quality of the food.We ordered:Mango Lassi: Somewhat bitter, and the color seemed as if there was too much mango puree in it.Gobi Manchurian: The Gobi was too soft and not thoroughly marinated.Samosa Chaat: For some reason there was a lot of water at the top. The chaat was not tasty at all, just a big portion and the cilantro tasted as if it was a few days old. No flavor really.Veggie Rolls: These I must say were probably the best thing we ate considering the bar was set pretty low for the food.Paneer Pakora: Absolutely horrible. Out of a total of 10 pieces, for some reason 3 of the pieces were a completely different color as if they were old. The potato stuffing was completely awful. Too much garam masala which caused the color of the potatoes to be brownish gray. (could also be due to old potato stuffing)To top it off, when we were seated we were asked if we wanted water, to which we said sure. We thought we would get water in a cup but were given bottles and assumed that was due to COVID. When we got the bill, there was an extra charge for the water bottles. We would have no problem with that had we been told that the complimentary water would have an additional charge. This is no fault of the waiter but the owner themselves because they are trying to make an additional few dollars off of their customers. Overall, if you can avoid this place please do so. Our stomaches were not feeling so well after visiting here. If I could give it no stars I would.
Jimmies Place
2130 Country Club Blvd, Stockton, CA 95204, United States
I wanted to try a new Sushi spot so I googled local sushi restaurants near me and Jimmies Place came up so I called a 415 number which seemed odd to me, but whats even more odd is my phone call was declined and I got a text message back informing me they only text, no phone calls? So I text my order and used Zelle to pay them $36 for my order of 1 Fire Dragon roll, 1 Orange Dragon roll, and 1 order of Salmon Sashimi, which to me is cheap! When I arrived, I laughed because youd never think that this was a Sushi restaurant, not in a million years! When I walked in, there was some old school Mexican music playing loud, and the sushi chef was an old school Mexican guy in the back room making up the orders and the person that greeted me was the only Asian guy in the place and I dont even think his name was Jimmie? The absolute best Sushi for the money ever! The Sashimi was fresh and delish! No wonder this place gets so many good reviews, but the only gripe I have is parking, it sucks big time. But I have no regrets, this will be my new Sushi spot from now on!
Ph City Vietnamese Cuisine
6175 Stockton Blvd #200, Sacramento, CA 95824, United States
Pretty new in here, its big and spacious with tables not being so close to each other..The menu has a good variety, or course there is pho from chicken to beef..I was going to get the beef pho but instead I got the hot pot for one but sub the regular noodles with fresh noodles instead..Fresh noodles is what the new foodie trend is going on. The noodles are same as chow fun noodles but cut thin suppposingly. But hey gotta try it with pho next time. The fresh noodles are delivered every morning too. So fresh noodles it is pho sure..The hot pot comes with salmon, tofu, scallop, shrimp, fish balls, mussels, pork, and veggies such as Napa cabbage, emoji, and tong Choy and pea pods too..For the price of one which is a good deal and you a little bit of this and that. Im like yay cant decide what to put next in my mouth lol... Hot pot was sort of like making my own pho at the table with all the ingredients provided... And Im a sucker for hot pot any time of the day..Other than hot pot i tried the 2 person family meal. Which came with sweet and sour shrimp soup, clay pot cat fish, and charbroiled pork chop, with steam rice..Also had the combination pho. It was ok, nothing like wow. But it was great and love all the condiments on the table to make my own sauces to dip with my pho.
