Bamboo Garden Chinese Restaurant
73633 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
I think on another day, this wouldve been a 5 star review. We came here around 8 pm on Saturday night to find that the restaurant was terribly understaffed. There was just one woman taking order, serving and cleaning up. Half the tables were occupied, the other half still had unfinished food and plates on them. There seemed to be a line to order take out. And well, the same person was taking those too. When we said we wanted to dine in, she expressively gave a big sigh. A regular customer was nice enough to clean up a table for us and her.Sounds like either someone did not show up or just left. Ultimately, this poor woman had to do everything, had her daughter manning the phone and about 2 people inside cooking. We ordered the garlic chicken, mixed lol mein and the pork dumplings. Food came out pretty quickly. However we ended up with some paper plates and plastic utensils to eat.The pork dumplings were partially cold but we could easily recognise the quality and deliciousness of them. The lo mein is the best Ive ever eaten and same for the garlic chicken. Really good food and makes you want to lick your fingers and the plate off. Ive been to several Chinese restaurants in San Diego where I live and nothing comes close to this. For the price too, its big portions so it ended up being our lunch and dinner the next day.I could see that the main woman was exhausted and shewas sweet enough apologise for the above non-food experience. But in all fairness, I have to give this place 4 stars because of that.I will back again to eat more of this fantastic food and update my rating to a 5 star :)

My wife and I came here for date night. It was a chill place with nice staff, and delicious food. Theres only a few things on the menu, but those few things are incredible. We got 6 Asian wings, 6 buffalo wings, Sqrl Burger, and home fries. We split the order and talked about how amazing the food was the entire time. They have some unique boozes that you cant find anywhere within two hours. On top of all this, the staff was awesome! Were Trump loving conservatives from Tennessee, but some staff, and customers were clearly the opposite. Guess what, we all vibed. Everyone here can feel welcome. We will 100% return because of the staff, vibe, and food. The amazing blonde named Taylor made us feel like we were home. RECOMMENDATION: Create a website, and change your name on Google to Ground Squirrel. Google does pull up the restaurant, unless you actually type in the weird spelling.Edit: Eat here! A year since my last review. This place is amazing. I ordered 12 wings to go and they are AMAZING. This is still the place to go. 5 Stars.
Wing-n-it
72317 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
This is a local restaurant that many locals visit. The food is generally well suited to Korean tastes, so I recommend a visit without any hesitation. When I entered the store, it seemed like it was my first time seeing Asian customers, and I got the feeling that the local customers were curious(?) and wanted to give me something. The waiter explained the menu in great detail, but since I couldnt understand it, the people sitting next to me showed me the food they ordered and explained it to me.The ordering method asks you to choose the number of wing pieces and what kind of seasoning you would like. The seasoning is the same as what is written in the chicken stripes section. There is a side to choose from for each number of wing pieces, and the side that comes with it is basically small size. Fried chicken can only be ordered on certain days (Friday), and both plain fried chicken and seasoned chicken are available. Chicken stripes are the chicken tenders we commonly know, but they are very big.We ordered 8 wings, a set containing 2 fish and 2 wings and french fries, and 3 pieces of fried chicken. I dont remember the seasoning, but we chose teriyaki, garlic, and chili-like seasonings. The chili was the most delicious, and the garlic was a unique flavor that I had never tried before, but the garlic flavor is weak for Korean tastes, so if you expect a Korean-standard garlic-flavored sauce, it may be a bit disappointing. Teriyaki is a commonly known teriyaki sauce flavor. It seems that if you order 3 pieces of fried chicken, you get 1 piece of leg and 2 pieces of rump, but Im not sure if its the same every time. If you think of Nene Chickens fried chicken, its almost right. The texture of the skin is very crispy and the inside is soft and well-cooked, so its delicious. Personally, I think it would be best to order it without seasoning and then dip it in the seasoning that comes with the wings. The fried catfish is also highly recommended if you dont like fish. Even though I hate fish, I really enjoyed it. The fried food is sprinkled with powder that has a rich, slightly spicy, and nutty taste, so it suits the Korean palate very well. For sides, I ordered collard greens, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. The collard greens tasted very similar to Swiss chard or radish soybean paste soup (collard greens are actually chard), and the mac and cheese and coleslaw were above average, so I liked them. Also, a regular customer of the store ordered fried shrimp. I couldnt try it, but it looked crazy so I think it would be a good idea to give it a try.As someone who likes hip hop, I always wanted to try American soul food someday, and I had the opportunity to try it in a place that many local people visit, and the clerk took really good care of me from start to finish, making it an enjoyable experience. If you are planning to visit Joshua Tree National Park and are craving chicken or curious about soul food, I highly recommend a visit. For wing-n-it, I really appreciate to you for your wonderful kindness. It was a really special experience for me and my family also enjoyed. I wanna visit you again if I travel westside again. Hopefully see you again and thank you :)

I am rating the barber shop not the whole mcx. I go in there and i ask the lady “hey um let me get a medium fade and let me get a bit off the top” and the lady agrees and begins cutting. Through the hair cut she tries to comb the top and just makes a humb, turns me around and says you're done and i told her “her i wanted some off the top” and she says “i spent 200 dollars on clippers and you got a bit of sand in your hair so im not about to ruin them on your hair” which I understood said okay well that's not a problem, so i ask “okay well howbout if i go wash my hair real quick and come back” and she says “yea but im going to charge you again” and im puzzled. I really wanted to get some off the top that day before my hair was out of regs so i said “what ever ill be right back” and again i turn around and i ask “will i have to wait in line all over again?” And she said “ well i have lots of customers to attend” (keep in mind its a sunday when all marines are trying to get haircuts) i just walk away. She does not care how your hair looks or the satisfaction of the customer, jus making money. She was the african american one with thin dreads. She didn't even have any kind of certificate on her mirror about her going to barber school.

29 Palms Plaza
71757 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
Well this is a review about the plaza itself. Not the individual stores the plaza and whole is really not that great but the reason for the 4-star rating is it is probably arguably the best Plaza in Twentynine Palms. Why well because it has one of the most popular store Twentynine Palms the Stater Brothers Market I believe that is one of the most popular places that people go to. Also Dollar Tree is good if youre looking for a good value on getting something for cheap and theres a Chinese restaurant that depending on the time of the day you go is either alright or horrible the earlier you go the better I tend to find that if you go for a late dinner the foods been sitting out there and theres nothing fresh and its just not good. But earlier in the day it is quite nice. The other places I have not been to but just talking about the plaza here even though its not that great its the best that Twentynine Palms has to offer.
Kitchen in the Desert
6427 Mesquite Ave, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
Ive been wanting to go here for a while now. And, I usually dont give bad reviews but it was hard not to and still be honest with you all.So, the menu was extremely limited but the food was okay; although getting our food took a VERY long time considering everything, and it was overpriced. We made reservations for 645pm, arrived at 630pm, there were many tables open, but we we were seated at our table close to 7pm. Why take reservations if your staff doesnt know what to do with them Kitchen In The Desert? While other tables had plates and silverware neatly set up for other customers our table for 4 had simply silverware wrapped in napkins dropped randomly on the table. The hostess, seating us outside in the sun (which was okay and expected), offered to put up the umbrella for much-needed shade but then walked away to help other soon-to-be customers. It wasnt until when the party seated about 15 minutes after us at the next table asked for the umbrella did a different employee open the umbrella for us all. With the room temperature water in a carafe, getting our drinks about 20 minutes after being seated, and watching customers who arrived after us to get their food waaay before us we should have known. Trying to be understanding we ordered desert; a piece of pie and two orders of fried oreos...Big mistake! The other table got their pie ordered at the same time and we waited almost 30 minutes. Our server acknowledged our wait and gave us a small discount which was kind... but simply did not make up for the length of the wait before or after...The icing on the cake you ask? Another customer was sat at the table next to us who had a dog (no biggie, Im a dog LOVER and we have 4 of our own). While this customer waited to be seated that dog showed unwarranted aggression (lunging viciously) toward other customers, however they sat this customer and their dog right next to other people. While my 9 year old son was returning from using the bathroom with my husband that dog lunged snarling at my son. Absolutely unacceptable! Stevie Wonder could see that dog was lunging at a number of people before the customers and their dog were seated. The customers bringing a dog like that to a restaurant AND the hostess sitting that dog around others was irresponsible and put people and that dog in extreme danger. To that dogs owners and the hostess... do better... just do better.Needless to say, this place lost local money here. I will not return for the overpriced food, sitting under tattered sun shades waiting for the staff to assist with a smidgen of umbrella shade or drinks or food or desert... and I will definitely not return to fend off a rabid pink-puppy-sock wearing pooch.
