Capital Noodle Bar
3477 E Imperial Hwy, Brea, CA 92823, United States
I love the Chinese style noodles here. Its the Hong Kong style fusion restaurant and they have excellent choices of tasty food and staff is always friendly and courteous. Im so happy this place opened up near my house where good Asian food was lacking. If you are near Brea or Yorba Linda you need to try this place. Highly recommended.

Jjangmyeon (2/5): unimpressed and it’s only a step above the stuff you get in the instant noodle packs. Not sure how they can charge $12 for a bowl of noodles with less than an ounce of meat in it when pho is around $15… Can’t believe the star dish of the restaurant was so underwhelming.Sweet & Sour Pork “ttangsyuk”: (1.5/5) This tasted alright when it immediately came out. But as I started eating more and more of it I realized how flavorless the sauce was and how poorly trimmed the pork was. Almost every piece had a grisly peace of fat, tendon, ligament that was unpleasant to chew through and I feel like the fryer they are using is underpowered or something because only the exterior was crispy while the interior wasn’t cooked all the way through.Service: nonexistent/5The lady working here looks like she is on her last leg and every time we asked her for something that she seemingly forgot, it felt like we were asking her to do a monumental favor because she looked sleepy/sick. It’s not the best representation of a restaurant when their only front of house worker looks like they’re about to faint at any given moment.I’m not sure how a Korean/chinese fusion restaurant is going to do in Brea especially when the food is trash.Bring back the pho place

Otus Thai Kitchen & Coffee
1253 N La Brea Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90038, United States
Came to Otus on a friends recommendation and really enjoyed it! We had a huge party (11) and Otus was able to accommodate us without any issues though we may have been a little overwhelming to start the morning...I began with a pink latte which is a latte made with Thai sala syrup. The flavor profile is similar to strawberry milk but a little more floral. A couple friends went with bottomless mimosas but remarked that it wasnt too special. For appetizers we shared the roti and Ms Dangs crispy fried rice. Both were honestly delicious! The roti was prepared like a banana fosters french toast with roti substituting the toast. It was crispy, buttery, and similar to fried bananas! As for the crispy rice, it was done very well! Ive had versions that were way too dry and crispy or too tangy from vinegar and fermented pork but this hit all the right notes and the crunchy bites from the leaves of romaine paired perfectly! For my main, I went with the Moo Ping and OMG the pork skewers were TO DIE FOR! They were marinated and grilled to perfection! The accompanying vinegar dip was a little bit too acidic for me though. I really liked the accompaniments of papaya salad and sticky rice. Both paired perfectly with the super savory pork! I also liked using the remaining dressing off the papaya salad to dip and accompany the rice as it wasnt nearly as strong as the vinegar.I tried bites from my friends dishes and some really hit! The happy chicken was a must order but the happy ribs is a miss. The chicken was so crispy yet so juicy but the ribs were clearly over fried and so dry. The kai kata is unique! Getting a bite with the baguette, ground pork, Chinese sausage and creamy egg is really something to experience at least once!Among the rest of my friends (aka the other side of the table), reviews were mixed. Both friends that ordered the shitake chicken rice bowl mentioned that it was a little bland but the one that ordered khao kai jiew gave it a thumbs up. There were also two thumbs up for the the its a joke jook. By far the worst menu blunder though was the tofu street noodles. My friend said that there was zero flavor. He tried to fix it with a lot of sambal and then soy sauce but it wasnt until we ordered some peanut sauce ($3) that he finally enjoyed his meal. Our entire meal with gratuity came to about $370. Id say its safe to plan that your meal will average about $25 with drinks.

Mendocino Farms
3317 E Imperial Hwy, Brea, CA 92823, United States
Most people already know about Mendocino Farms (aka Mendo) but for those of you that do not here's a quick intro/personal opinion from me: Mendo is a great place for lunch, covered patio, AC cooled inside seating and friendly staff. Regardless of how busy it is, it will always look like it's busy inside because the staff is doing a lot to make the place clean and topped off in every way. Napkins holders are full, drink dispensers are never empty for anything longer than 10 - 20 minutes, staff is always available to answer questions or help get containers, food is always sourced from environmentally aware locations, menus are labeled with info for Gluten-free, Vegan and other dietary restrictions and it tastes delicious. None of the food isn't going to taste exactly compared to the actual dishes from a store that just serves those dishes or sandwiches but I feel like that's mainly because of the sauces and how Mendo chooses flavors, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't taste delicious. At this location they have lemonade infused with different favors that were really good (rose lemonade, turmeric and lemongrass lemonade and a green power lemonade with ginger, celery and other goodies). My wife ordered the Smoky Chicken Elote Bowl and I got the Pork Belly Banh Mi. There were a few small things that were pointed out with both dishes (pork belly was a little more fatty/oily that my wife would have liked and the chicken breast was a little dry in the Elote bowl) but they were still really good and the perfect amount to fill you up for lunch without having to make you take a nap before getting back to work. Again, super nice staff and they are good and fast at what they do. Gotta say it was a nice lunch date today. Also the last item that we enjoyed was no more table numbers, you take your receipt scan a QR code on the table and type your order number for the staff to know where to bring you food.

Gengis Khan

If Im ever in need of food while at the Brea Mall I typically find myself grabbing some Mongolian BBQ. Its good! Yes it is pricey, but its definitely something you can share among two people. The prices have increased over the past couple of year. I believe just for the bowl, not the combo, its about $10. You fill up your bowl with either raw beef, chicken, pork, or turkey. Then you move on to the veggies which include onions, green peppers, zucchinis, mushrooms, baby corn, and a couple of other options. The last station is the sauce station. Luckily, they already choose the sauces for you, but they do ask if you want garlic and/or any spice on your food. The lines can get pretty long, so just be prepared to wait. Yes, the cooks TYPICALLY give you more noodles if you tip them. The food is good compared to other Mongolian BBQ locations. The downside is they do typically stare while youre preparing your bowl. I guess they dont want you pressing on your food with a napkin. Youll notice a couple of people doing this just to add extra food to their bowl. Smart, but prepare yourself for a nasty glare from the cashier.

Pink Pepper
1638 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States
With better management,. alert staff and warmer food the restaurant could be 4 star. The salmon was flavorful but the vegetables with it were served at room temperature with no flavor & almost raw. Staff very inept and passive -shows minimal interest/understanding of the customer experience - understands very litle english.... we attempted to communicate about the cold vegetables but gave up .. yet the restaurant was not at all busy - only one other couple in the restaurant so very hard to understand how the food could be cold and how it could take so long to get served... even when asking if the food could be made medium spicy got a flat NO - you do it yourself ...there also appeared to be a language barrier between the kitchen staff and the servers. the other couple got the wrong dish which resulted in a near comical disjointed discourse between the server and the cook. not convinced the problem was ever really resolved. There was no manager to be found. The dining experience is similar to a (not so) fast food/take out place (without benefit of even a teenage manager) but with a rather nice upgraded interior Oh... if you need to have your parking garage ticket validated make sure you get both tickets back from the server as youll need both to get out of the garage. They gave us only one back which turned into a big hassle with the garage attendant who also spoke very little English. On the positive side the Tom Kha Gai was delicious but of course just barely warmed above room temperature..... Overall the servers were plessant but not a fun experience that Id like to repeat - very stressful and frustrating I guess they depend on high volume non-repeat tourist trade

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
270 Brea Mall, Brea, CA 92821, United States
Just left the Olive Garden we got in everything seemed good. The hostess took us past other people seated at booths and tables . But she kept going to the back room where there was only tables completely empty. We asked for a both she again took past the area that had empty booths but there were customers in there and sat us at the bar. Where the bartender although pleasant seemed to preoccupied. Not five minutes after she stuck us in the bar she took two groups back to the booths. I asked her why she didnt give us that booth. Only to give it to someone else who arrived after us. Her excuse was bull. She said there wasnt a waitress there. But only five minutes later there was. And if so who was tending to the customers already seated there? I believe the hostess working today Wednesday November 9.22 at 11:10 am is racist towards certain people .why elseWould she have treated us like that.We had to leave three interactions with the bar tender and he still didnt take our order . He seemed to preoccupied to give us good serviceI dont think this is good for a restaurant to have people bent on some personal vendetta working there. What a shame to I was really looking forward to having lunch there. We went there last week and had a good time. It was our first time there sence the lockdown. We were hoping it would be a good place to go . But on bad employee and Im looking for someplace else to eat. Shame on you.

Kabuki Japanese Restaurant
975 E Birch St K, Brea, CA 92821, United States
It was good, but unfortunately I wasnt too impressed. Good selection of food at a good price, but the service took a bit long and the food was lacking flavor.I visited during the OC restaurant week and for $15 you get a three course meal during lunch time. Whether you opted in for the special menu or just ordered off their regular menu, they have pretty good pricing and tons of options on the menu.Lunch seemed pretty slow, despite it being the OC restaurant week. We were seated almost immediately and our server took our beverage order about 10 minutes later. Lemonades have free refills. About 5 minutes later our server took our order for all three courses. The nice part was we were given a small salad as a starter. The salad resembled the Benihanas salad given as a starter. Our salad had a lot of dressing, once we finished our salad there was a small pool of dressing. It was free and good, so not a big deal. My friend ordered the Hibachi Combo rice and she really enjoyed it. It was fried rice with chicken, pork, and shrimp, pretty big portion. I ordered the pan friend gyozas. They tasted good, but were a bit oily. I shouldve ordered the rice. I dont think theyre made at the location since they tasted very generic, nonetheless still good. We both ordered the pork ramen. The ramen had a strong peanut or nut smell. The broth itself lacked flavor, for some reason it didnt have a strong pork flavor. The pork meat tasted amazing! Pretty big portion as well. For the amount of food, $15 is a great deal. For now the location is just okay in my opinion, I probably will return to try their sushi since they have a huge selection. They offer brown rice as a sushi rice alternative and they also offer gluten free soy sauce.Service did take long at times, especially to receive our starters.

Shin
1655 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States
My one-star reviews are few and far between. I tend to take a holistic approach to judging a restaurant and understand that my experience may not necessarily reflect on another's. With that being said, I do not understand how this place has such great reviews, and truly believe it needs to be knocked down at least a couple of stars. My family and I dined here June 22. We were lured in here by the great reviews and late hours, only to be given a mediocre and expensive meal with totally unacceptable service. When we asked our server, who seemed friendly enough at first, about one of the appetizer dishes (takoyaki), he told us there were 9 pieces, but that he “wasn't sure.” There were five pieces, which none of us minded as he genuinely seemed like he didn't know, and we were craving the dish anyway. But upon taking a bite out of my first piece, I tasted still-frozen octopus in the middle! The pork curry entree was flavorless and the greens were more like a decoration than what was advertised, and they had a weird gritty taste as well. I politely brought up the frozen takoyaki issue to one of the female servers, who said she'd “let the kitchen know.” I wasn't expecting anything, but literally nothing was done about it. Not even an apology. Our server even dropped the friendly act halfway through our meal when he brought my father a dish (or drink?) and brusquely dropped it on the table without looking at us or saying a word, and before we could even say “thank you,” immediately turned and walked away like he had an emergency to tend to. I get being busy, but we were one of only two or three other tables there. Perhaps he thought we weren't going to tip him since I had a complaint about the food? Luckily for him, we don't punish the server for the kitchen's mistakes and left a good tip regardless. However, we did not account for the surprise 4% tax included in the bill, AND the additional surprise that the prices on the menu weren't even accurate. We ended up paying $2-3 more per dish than what was advertised. My husband enjoyed his ramen well enough so we tried just brushing it off and giving them the benefit of the doubt, but issue after issue left us all feeling uncomfortable and wishing we went somewhere else. What a disappointment.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar
1065 Brea Mall Suite 2050A, Brea, CA 92821, United States
When you step through the doors of Kura Revolving Sushi, the delightful novelty of the revolving belt system immediately pulls you into the atmosphere, but its the food that keeps you coming back. The convenience of checking in on their app before arriving at adds a seamless touch to the dining experience, saving time and ensuring a smooth entry into the restaurant. No more waiting around; just arrive and enjoy! My personal favorites are the seared beef and the wagyu beef nigiri, each slice of meat is tender and succulent, and theres just something about the balance of flavors that really pops. I also find myself quite partial to the cream cheese unagi nigiri. The sweetness of the eel paired with the creaminess of the cheese is a flavor duo that I wasnt expecting to love, but now I cant get enough of it.Kura doesnt skimp on the dessert either. The freshly fried donut that comes paired with ice cream was such a treat. The donut was warm and fluffy, providing a comforting contrast to the cold, creamy ice cream.Adding to the charm of the experience is the plate counter, which tallies up your selections as you go, and the fact that most plates are just $2.50. Its a simple touch, but one that definitely adds to the overall enjoyment of the experience.Theres something undeniably cool about seeing my order shoot down the belt and arrive right in front of me at Kura Revolving Sushi. But having the option to order on demand adds a personalized touch and allows me to discover hidden gems that arent on the revolving belt. Its like a treasure hunt for delicious surprises! What truly keeps my partner and me coming back are those limited time offer dishes. The thrill of trying something new each visit keeps the dining experience fresh and exciting. Each visit to Kura Revolving Sushi feels like a new experience, which is a rare gem to find at this price. In essence, Kura Revolving Sushi offers a unique blend of technological novelty, exceptional food quality, and a dining atmosphere that is both delicious and engaging. Its a place we look forward to returning to time and time again. Give it a try, I assure you it wont disappoint!
