Lucky Chinese Food

The orange chicken was not fulfilling and I am surprised that national citys Chinese restaurants are better tasting versus santee. DO NOT BUY THERE ORANGE CHICKEN!!! I didnt even eat it... I want to give it to my dog. Please remove the orange chicken from the menu... or go to Panda Express. Im just being honest. ?♀️
Chai Waii Chinese Food
9225 Carlton Hills Blvd, Santee, CA 92071, United States
This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in years! It reminds me of Chinese food I experienced in the Bay Area. Super fresh, piping hot and delicious. The woman behind the counter is charming. She clearly loves cooking and takes pride in the food she serves. This is now our “go to” Chinese restaurant. Try the Orange Chicken, Egg Rolls and Wings! Oh, the Hot Mustard and the House’s fried garlic, pepper mixture used as seasoning for the wings is out of this world.
Panda Country Restaurant

Update 12/23/23Today were dined in for lunch we ordered the panda country lo mein Kung pao shrimp lunch special and the sweet-and-sour chicken lunch special everything was excellent highly recommend itUpdate 5/31/22Tonight we ordered bbq pork and the walnut shrimp. The bbq pork was terrible it was so dry even when it was covered in all the sauce. We will not order that again. The walnut shrimp wias outstanding as usual, 20 big shrimp perfectly cooked. Still our go to place to order Chinese food.Update4/25/22Ordered the moo goo gai pan and sweet and sour pork lunch specials with no rice thru Grubhub. Moo goo was excellent and the s&s pork was good also The food arrived early as usual and was delivered by the restaurants driver not a Grubhub driver. Highly suggest this restaurant ?I ordered Walnut Shrimp and Wonton SoupThe Walnut Shrimp and soup was excellent.Definitely found our new Chinese restaurant.Next were going to try the Moo Go Gai Pan, spareribs or sweet and sour porkWeve been trying to find good Chinese food in Clairemont ever since Panda Country on Clmt Mese Blvd closed due to covid. Weve been going there for 30+ years. So today we thought wed try this one in Santee. We got Kung Pao San Yan, not spicy and wonton soup for later. The flavor was pretty good, but way too sweet for Kung Pao. The chicken and shrimp were cooked well, but the beef was tough and chewy, not tender at all. Glad we didnt order Mongolian beef. That would have been a nightmare to try and chew. The wonton soup was excellent and so were the crunchies that go with it.We give it a 8/10 compared to to our original restaurant. Probably try one more time before continuing our search
Panda Express
9862 Mission Gorge Rd #g, Santee, CA 92071, United States
A little above moderately priced, but a large selection of entrees and sides. Food a bit bland compared to many non-chain Chinese restaurants. Staff friendly and efficient. Parking not an issue here as its located in Trolley Square shopping center. Dine-in and Take-out available.

Hands down, the best Pho Ive ever had. I ordered the P1 all the beef cuts with Oxtail, the A2 net egg rolls, and he ordered the P8 with well done and rare steak. The net egg rolls were amazing, perfectly golden, crispy, savory deliciousness with that beautiful vinegary dipping sauce. I preferred to eat them without lettuce and he did the opposite. We were both very happy. Next came his soup, I ordered another plate of veggies for myself, it was much needed. The P8 was the size of an extra large at most places. Next came my huge plate of meat, followed by a boiling hot broth in a granite bowl, and then a plate of perfectly cooked noodles. I mixed everything together, added my vegetables, and sauces and then the waiter came out with a roasted chili and garlic oil. That set it off! I split all of it between our two bowls. There was so much food! I have enough for another huge meal and full of meat. The broth is so rich and flavorful and I really enjoyed the chili and roasted garlic oil and chili paste. All of the meats were high quality and cooked perfectly. The meatball was like a delicious sausage. The oxtail was okay, but it was cooked until the bones were brittle and flaking. Im sure it is used to flavor all of the broth, so I was expecting that. This is our new spot, no more across the street from the post office for us!
Island Style Cafe
9828 Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA 92071, United States
Disappointed! This was the go to place for great Hawaiian food in East County, but the staff sure knows how to make you feel unwelcome. TAKE NOTE: they close their dining room 30 mins before they close. They do not have any signs expressing this or anything posted online. Unless you are a regular, you only find this out when you place your order and they tell you that you have to take your food to go.Arrived at 2 on Sunday, mothers day. They close at 2:30. There were 3 or 4 seated tables with numbers. After placing the order, the cashier informed me that the food would be to go since they close in 30 mins. Since other tables were still eating, my family and I decided to eat in the dining room since we still had 15 mins before they closed. Food was delicious, however I noticed the staff giving me dirty looks. I understand I broke their rules, but others were still eating. And we were not the last to leave. My wife wanted to splurge and decided to order a shaved ice 5 mins before they closed. The same cashier informed my wife they they allowed us to stay because it was our first time eating. My gripe is if you are going to allow us to stay, why give me dirty looks? I am a paying customer and if you are not going to kick me out, why the dirty looks? We didnt make the staff stay late and we left at 2:32. In another act of pettiness, the cashier reiterated they were closing and said we could eat the shaved ice on the bench outside. A few minutes after we ordered the shaved ice, they brought the bench inside. This is just horrendous customer service and we hope it gets addressed somehow.
Town Center Park East
550 Park Center Dr, Santee, CA 92071, United States
This says Town center Park East but I believe this is the sportsplex. I go here with my daughter and we play a soccer on the field and we throw the football and we just run around and kind of have fun together. Ive been coming to this place since 2015. Its pretty fun when theres fields available to play on. Often they have some kind of activity going on but here and there theres nothing going on and you can just go out there and run around and have fun. Its an enjoyable place and I dont ever go there unless Im going to do some kind of running around so its going to always get a good rating from me because if I dont want to go I just wont go but when I feel like having fun its there. Great place to go to walk, run, play sports, fly drones, kind of do anything outside related.

Okawa Steak House & Sushi
9720 Mission Gorge Rd A, Santee, CA 92071, United States
We came here after my sister's wedding ceremony for dinner. There were 9 of us (6 adults & 3 kids). Right off the bat, the service wasn't great. They weren't really attentive or friendly. We had to ask several times for utensils and napkins. Not once did I get offered a refill on my drink. The guy at the grill was focused and quiet, not really interacting with us. My husbands filet was good, but the noodles were over cooked and mushy. The soft shell crab was hit or miss. Some bites were good, some tasted doughy and fishy. Everyone was mostly happy with their food and we were willing to come back until the bill came. The bill was $411 and my husband noticed the receipt already had included the tip. However it seemed a little higher than expected. We assumed because we were a larger group it would be added, but the total didn't make sense. The receipt said nothing about what percentage was added. Inside the menu, it stated that for parties over 6 an 18% gratuity would be added. That is all that was communicated anywhere. However, the tip automatically added to our bill was 21% after we did the math. My husband didn't want to say anything and just paid knowing that we just will never come here again. The difference between 18% and 21% isn't going to break us, but to me it's the principal, especially when the service they provided us, even after I had so excitedly mentioned that my sister and her husband had just gotten married didn't warrant such a large tip. It almost seems like because they knew they'd be getting tipped regardless they didn't need to provide better service. Imagine how much they are adding up by the end of the month in sneaky tips. My advice, if you dine with 6 or more people is that you check your bill and ask about hidden charges because we also had a few of those as well.
