Kaiba Japanese Restaurant - Monterey Park
816 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Friendly staff, parking can be tough at times, small dining spaces and the restaurant offers a wide variety of Japanese food selections. We would love it more if the online waitlist is available for use. Currently we can only join the waitlist at the door. The kitchen-made items feel chewy, dense which was probably overcooked. Sushi bar items are decent. They have counterparts in Pasadena, Anaheim and this review is for the Monterey Park location. Kaiba has just opened a new spot in La Verne and we’re planning to try them all.

Tokyo Fried Chicken

Triple - fried chicken with homemade ponzu sauce and creative side dishes like candied carrots with bacon and cheese crumbles over Brussel sprouts make this Japanese/ American fusion a winner! Another great Monterey Park restaurant!

Kokoro Japanese Restaurant
2207 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Better than I expected. I dont usually go to Monterey Park to eat sushi, but just happened to when I visited Kokoro recently. This is a casual Japanese eatery that has sushi and other Asian foods, even Korean-inspired dishes like bbq short ribs. The food was tasty all around. I give them big props for using high quality fish for their sushi and sashimi. For the most part, it was melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful, and fresh. It definitely felt more elevated than what the casual atmosphere is like.I think the raw marinated crab and shrimp is also a winner here. Its pretty much like what you find at Korean seafood restaurants, but the difference is that it is reasonably priced here compared to what Korean spots charges these days. I mean, $35 a crab. Not terribly bad compared to market value.Yes, this spot is safe. I would definitely come back again.

Sushi Sai Japanese Restaurant

I was here with my friends and its a hidden gem, its really quiet and a lovely vibe. I was able to taste test Orion and ichigo which I would have never been able to try elsewhere! The service is a bit slow as a fair warning since it is just the owner who does multiple jobs. She is a lovely lady and I will definitely come back to show my support!I had the spicy calamari which was on the spicy side which I loved, the eel + rice bowl which came with miso soup, which I loved very much. The eel was really tasty and miso soup was very flavorful as well. Calamari rings was well battered. I also had the premium sashimi plate which has scallop, octopus, tuna, salmon, blue fin tuna, and I think swordfish. It was all really good!

Silverlake Ramen Monterey Park
2170 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
My wife and I enjoy very much ramen we have travel long distance for a good bowl of ramen we travel all over especially Little Toyko the searching for good bowl of ramen. When my wife told they are opening a ramen restaurant in South Pasadena but biggest surprise was from well know ramen restaurant Silverlake Ramen founded in L.A. and spead all over including the Orange county.I told my wife lets go to Silverlake Ramen and try it out. We went there to try it out it open on Monday it soft sale it mean it not ready yet its getting there to full operation. We got seated right away then host hand us the menu then have a good ramen selection and items like appetizers, rice bowls and plant base meals. They also have rolls they were not ready yet. We were looking at the menu then decided what to order. We both order the combo and choice style of ramen we decided get the Classic Tonkotsu and choice of side my wife pick the edamame and I the crispy chicken karaage and we order our drinks. The restaurant look very shiek with street look with a modern touch and the atmosphere everybody is have a nice time enjoying the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant we both enjoy it. They brought the edamame and chicken karaage we both go the edamame it tasted really good it was warm and right amount of salt that make the edamame delicious. We both love the chicken karaage it was tender and juicy and breaded was good and sauce was good but dipping in the sauce add more flavors in chicken karaage ad it more flavor. The waitess brought the Tonkotsu bowls they were steaming hot. One taste it was incredible good so much flavors like the broth it was light and full of flavor that why the broth cook many house to make perfection. The pork belly was incredible tender falls apart that Tonkotsu a perfect bowl of flavors. My wife enjoy very much we need to come back again with friends and family to Silverlake Ramen. The staff was incredible good they were very friendly professional.

LAs best ramen spot unlike other wannabee Japanese restaurants. Definitely worth stopping by if youre craving ramen. They have other delicious entrees, such as chahan, beef bowls, and gyoza. Must go to the Monterey Park location! #bestramen

Bachans Take Out
2300 S Garfield Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Stopped in to grab dinner for my daughter and I the other night. Wed been here a couple times before, always relatively pleased with our meals. We shared a chicken teriyaki bowl and some new Teri fries. The bowl was good, chicken was moist and flavorful, but the tsukemono was a bit mild for my taste, would have preferred a bit more punch. I was interested in trying the fries because Ive had a couple different versions of teriyaki fries from other establishments and wanted to see what their take would be. Unfortunately, it was quite boring, a clamshell full of fries and a small container of teriyaki sauce to spread over them, nothing more. The more impressive teriyaki fries Ive seen usually have some other accompaniment, an additional mayo based sauce, some choice garnish, or something more than fries and teriyaki sauce. While not excited by my last meal with them, i will certainly be back to Bachans again.

Ramen King Keisuke
141 N Atlantic Blvd #100B, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
A lot of people are complaining about the saltiness of the ramen but What I had was the opposite. The broth was a bit tasteless not much pork flavor and mostly fatty, black fungus should have been chopped to smaller pieces, minced pork tastes like it does not belong in the dish, the seaweed was overly large and is very hard to eat, CHASHU tastes like roast pork no soy sauce flavor which threw flavor of the dish off.Maki rolls are very basic rice, fish and seaweed. You have to order first then find your own seat, then they'll call your name to pick up the order. The system is not complicated but when the food arrives it's a little frustrating to have to get up frequently to check if your order is ready because the order shoutout is not loud enough in a crowded restaurant.Noodles are firm, chili oil is a bit spicy adds a nice touch to the whole dish. The ordering system on the tablet is very simple and easy to use. Hard boiled eggs are provided for FREE at each tables and booths next to the condiments. These are not the same as the eggs in the ramen. Chopsticks are very cute.Does it beat the other ramen places like Daikokuya or Nakazo? No.We got 2 spicy tonkotsu ramen and 2 maki rolls (tuna and salmon). With tips included, the whole bill comes out to be $50.You can go get a bowl of tonkotsu at Nakazo and 2 onigiri for ~$20. Or a Daikoku ramen set for $30 with even more food. The atmosphere in the restaurant is good despite the execution on the food. I look forward to seeing improvements!
