Kaiba Japanese Ramen, Sushi & Grill - Pasadena
1713 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106, United States
Kaiba is a revelation! Really good quality ramen and sushi for relatively low prices. I believe that Kaiba has the power to reunite a divided household. My wife has loved sushi since college and I just havent been able to develop a taste for it. After years of not being able to enjoy a good sushi restaurant together we finally found the answer. Kaiba! We recently had our first dining experience at Kaiba. Coincidentally, we were having dinner with my wifes best friend from college and the friends twin sister who had flown in from Seattle for the weekend. A party of four works great for sharing multiple sushi rolls, soups and sides. We arrived after 7pm on a Sunday evening and the place was packed with a wait. The staff were great! The host offered to seat us after just a couple of minutes if someone didnt show up on time for their reservation. Thanks a lot Rachel for not showing up, we really enjoyed your reservation. All the staff we interacted with were energetic, attentive and efficient. I recommend that you make a reservation for yourself when you plan to visit Kaiba. We cant all count on Rachel to make a reservation for us without knowing it.I experienced true food joy eating my Tonkatsu Ramen as my wife and her friends feasted on a variety of their favorite sushi rolls and sides. I recommend the $2 draft beer and the $1 warm sake. Great deals for what you get.The house once divided over sushi has now been united by Kaiba Japanese Restaurant.Fun Facts:-There are three Kaiba locations in Southern California-The menu is accessible via QR code scan with your phone.-They dont appear to have a website but they do have business page on Facebook.-If you are not comfortable with chopsticks you can ask for a fork and they will bring you a metal one on a napkin.-Plenty of free parking in the lot behind the restaurant. So, do yourself a favor and give this terrific Asian Fusion Restaurant a try soon.

Foods are delicious, servers are kind and diligent. Love this place and one of my favorite Japanese restaurants!
Shogun Restaurant
470 N Halstead St, Pasadena, CA 91107, United States
This is based on 1 male server service and the response of the manager.(First time I've ever given $0.00 as a tip and I tip 15% even if I had below average service and up to 30% if I had a real good service)I went there to relax and have a chill birthday dinner with the family. Everything started well and dandy. He took our drink and food order. Gave us the appetizer and after our teppan grill chef cooked our entree for us, (I tipped him extra for his service and was going to tip more at the end of the meal, the server then delivered the rice. After this point the dinner was still going decent, after eating and talking with the family about what I did over the weekend for my birthday 15 to 20 minutes had already passed. I did keep seeing him serve one more table next to us (thats a total of 2 he was serving). I was like ok, lets wait a bit more. We kept waiting a bit more to see if anyone was gonna come to us for anything, NOTHING. We had to hunt down another server to help us get more water, togo boxes, any updates on the server that was helping us, and the check (at this point I was already frustrated). We finally got some water and the bill from another server. I waited a few more minutes for a box and for someone to pick up the check to process, STILL NO WORD from our server or another. I had to go to the front for someone to process the card and grab the togo boxes. I WAS TILTED. I've never seen or had such a good ghosting session besides how Rihanna ghosting Drake, oof. The only excuse which was the saddest managing response my older sister had gotten was Sorry, cause of covid. WAIT WHAT, how does COVID mess up decent service. I have never been so confused and gotten such abysmal service. Me and my sister have a combination of 10 years of food service working experience from different types of restaurants. This has been my first ever review and it was a rant review (sigh) because I love food and hate to complain about food but this was just sad. Thank you SOOOOO much for making me waste 10 minutes of my life writing this. I really wish there was a negative rating. Please I am begging you, save yourself from frustration and drive 10 to 15 more minutes towards LA to get better service.
San Sai Japanese Grill
350 S Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
I might have given advice stars years ago because this used to be one of my favorite casual dining spots. I find the prices to be a little higher than expected but that could be caused by Covid supply chain issues. However, when I go to other Japanese restaurants I can get a bit better quality, sit down restaurants of course, for only a dollar or two more for the same rolls. This is just my value based opinion because the quality of the food is still good and the flavor is what you would expect.
Osawa
77 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
I stayed Pasadena, hotel staff recommended me Osawa is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Pasadena. Booking was easy by the hotel than to go for dinner. Oh, it is so Japanese restaurant that Osawa san owns himself. A lot of Japanse shochu and sake display on the alters so it is genuine Japanese cuisine. So busy place so that fresh menus are Sushi, which is so wonderful for me. Chefs on counter are so helpful and kind. Katsuo, Salmon, Oysters, Ishigaki dai are available such as real Japanese sushi. I would like to try shabby shabu when on coming my next trip.
Matsuri Restaurant
1065 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91106, United States
One of the rare Japanese restaurants with authentic Japanese food and Japanese staff. There are plenty of good westernized or Korean-ized Japanese places out there, but for a meal that is delicious, fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and reminds me of home, Matsuri is the obvious choice in Pasadena. Japanese-run restaurants at this price point are a dying breed; please support this establishment!
Kabuki Japanese Restaurant
2675 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107, United States
Kabuki Japanese restaurant on Foothill in Pasadena has been a cherished spot for our Japanese cuisine cravings for years. Our go-to favorites during happy hours, like the delectable sesame chicken, fresh California rolls, delightful Crab salad, and the succulent salmon collar, have always been a steal and consistently delicious.Despite their move to a new location in Colorado and Sangabriel a few blocks away, Kabukis expanded space and increased underground parking have made dining more convenient. The lively atmosphere and remarkable service continue to impress, even amidst the increased bustling crowd at this larger venue.Whats particularly exciting about this new spot is the addition of a splendid bar offering an array of cocktails, enhancing the overall experience. Despite the changes, the food remains as outstanding as ever, maintaining the high standard that drew us to Kabuki in the first place.Overall, Kabukis relocation has brought about positive enhancements without compromising on the exceptional quality of their food and service. Its a delightful haven for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts, now complemented by an inviting bar scene for those seeking a more comprehensive dining experience.
Kabuki Japanese Restaurant

Favorite Japanese restaurant to visit in the Pasadena area. Prices are a little high, but well worth the high quality food offered.
Takuya Japanese Restaurant
694 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
Excellent food, better variety than many Japanese restaurant. The roasted sanma for lunch was great - a welcome dish not often encountered at Japanese restaurants in socal. My only nitpick with them is the sushi bar has seating only for two. Tak is a creative sushi chef and if like to share my experience with more than one person at a time.
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
70 W Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
We came in and the place was busy. I asked the hostess for a table for three and I was told the wait would be 15 minutes; not bad so we decided to wait. Our table was ready within 30 minutes. We ordered the Gyu-Kaku Course ($60 for two people). Next time I want to try the Meat Lovers.~Food~For starters we got the Edamame, Gyu-Kaku Salad, Assorted Appetizers, Miso Soup, and Sukiyaki Bibimbap. The Edamame was seasoned and served warm. We didnt really eat the salad because we were saving our appetite for the main course; the peanut salad dressing was good. For the assorted appetizers, it came with two fried fish ball, two gyoza and two rice sushi with spicy tuna; nothing special. The Sukiyaki Bibimbap comes in a cast iron bowl, the rice is mixed with onions and beef.Chicken Cheese Fondue came with a tin foil bowl filled with pieces of cheddar cheese. We placed it on the grill to wait for it to melt. Then we dipped the chicken (marinated in pesto) in the cheddar cheese; I personally didnt like it very much. I only ate one of the Shrimp Garlic, it was okay. The short rib and skirt steak would be my favorite. Spinach Garlic and Mushroom Medley was wrapped in foil, we placed it on the grill for four minutes (two minutes on each side); I enjoyed the garlic flavor.~Desserts~For desserts we got six gram crackers and small pieces of Hershey chocolate bar with 3 sticks of marshmallows. My daughter loved this the most!! We melted the marshmallow, placed it in the middle of the gram crackers and chocolate, then we squeezed it. Ta Da .... chocolate marshmallow s more, it was delicious!!~Customer Service~I was not very happy because the waitress didnt come as often to check on us. We had to find her if we needed something.~Tip~~Call for reservations~Notes~~Street Parking and Parking Garage
