If you are looking for a place to take a bunch of people, then this is the place. However, if you are looking for an authentic gwant Japanese restaurant to spend a romantic evening with your girl, then this isnt it. Its noisy, really, really casual attire, and you will most likely be seated with people you dont want to be seated with. I was expecting Japanese music with some type of Japanese atmosphere. Instead, I got an upgraded version of Applebees. I ate here a long time ago in a different location, and it didnt look like this one. We actually got up and left right after we were seated. Im sure the food, service and cooking show is good. But, we just wanted a quiet place with some culture. This wasnt it.

The food is pretty standard for what you would expect for a Japanese restaurant at their level. However the food I find to be incredibly overpriced for what you get vs what you pay for. The word that comes to mind is stingy.

Reviewed on 2018-11-30This has been our third visit at Jakes. If I can recall correctly, the last time weve visited was around a couple of years ago, right about the same time in the year when the weather was starting to get cold in Temecula. The place is welcoming to where it gives you the feeling of an authentic Japanese restaurant. The hostess is friendly and courteous, which I believe is the same person running the tables from our last visit, years ago.It was a busy night, but we were seated fairly quick. Our food came in right away, which was considerably fast. There were only two servers, but they had it down to science and were able to manage the busy dining area.We ordered the following:- Hot Green Tea - The wife ordered this drink and our server used a well-crafted cup with an engraved note, Hello, Gorgeous. The little things that had made the spouse happy. Indeed, notably artistic.- Soft Macha Slush with boba - Macha flavor is one of my favorite dessert drinks after the mango. The boba was gelatinous and remarkably soft to the core.- Tako Yaki - Appetizing meatballs whereas this one was stuffed with either an oyster or an octopus. It was very delicious.- Miso Ramen Soup x 2 - The soup was flavorful and the soft egg was cooked perfectly with a half juicy yolk. The pork belly was tender all around, matched with tasty soft layer fat around the meat that melted right in the mouth. It was a great dining experience overall. Good food, excellent customer service and certainly a plus for offering a discounted tab for yelpers. We will certainly visit again.

Best sushi in the area.. Hands down =)******Update after covid and my recent experience today 4-15-23:Everything is so pricy now. I remember when the most expensive roll they had was $17, now that is the average of their most basic rolls. They are charging more and now serving off of plastic plateware....The chop sticks they gave us werent even from their resturaunt.... they were from sushi bar and grill in imperial.....They changed the recipe to my favorite roll. And now it is definitely not to my liking anymore.I ordered Ponzu and they changed that recipe too. It tasted like they squirted eel sauce and soy sauce together and expected no one to noticed. It totally ruined my first piece of overpriced Sashimi.I was not impressed. This place used to be one of the best and now I cant even get a proper tasting meal for under 100$They never have the seasonal morsels anymore morsels anymore like Amaebi or Uni.Sad sad sad. Another victim to covid and maybe new ownership.
Umi Sushi and Oyster Bar

Talk about a disappointing Birthday/Anniversary celebration - -Three weeks in advance I called Pechanga Resort and Casino to made dinner reservations atUMI SUSHI & OYSTER BAR for a specific date in September. I was asked if my reservation was for a specific purpose or a celebration. I told them it was for my wifes birthday and our anniversary, both taking place the week of the reservation. We arrived at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula September 30, 2020.We proceeded to the UMI Sushi Bar hostess and were welcomed and taken to a table which was a small 2 seat table in the middle of the isle by the kitchen and service station where all the restaurant staff had to walk by to kitchen and register/service area.I explained to the hostess that we were celebrating a romantic evening and even with COVID 19 this was not a safe distancing table, also it was the busiest traffic area of the restaurant. The Hostess called over the Manager, a Mr. Deejay Tabong. Mr, Tabong asked what our problem was (in a very surly manner) I explained how we felt about the seating especially since we had made reservations far in advance for a very special occasion in spite of the COVID 19 concerns.Mr. Tabong began to argue with me about our concerns. After listening to my response, Mr. Tabong suggested we look for a table at a different restaurant. I protested that it was too late to look for another restaurant but Mr. Tabong insisted that the table we were standing at was the only one available and there was nothing more to discuss. As we walking away the Hostess quietly suggested we might want to sit at the Oyster Bar which was empty.Rather than disappoint my wife because of the inconsiderate manager Mr.Tabong, we took seats at the Oyster Bar and ordered drinks and Sushi. We were surprised at the large crowd in the UMI Restaurant given all the news about social distancing. After sitting at the Oyster Bar for about 30 minutes the Hostess came over and quietly suggested we consider a table that was not in a crowded area.We placed our order for the Seafood Steam Pot which unfortunately tasted like warm dishwater and old stale fish. We had another drink and got ready to leave. It really upset me when I heard the staff singing Happy Birthday at two other tables.I called the waitperson over and said I had made specific reservations for my wifes birthday and why wasnt anyone singing happy birthday to her. She said the Manager Mr. Tabong said not to bother. The waitperson brought a dessert to the table and said happy birthday. We paid the bill and left the dessert there.
Poke n Salad ( Temecula )

*** MANAGER NICOLAS & OWNER DWAYNE WILL NOT TAKE YOU SERIOUS IF YOU GET SICK FROM THEIR POKE ***Visiting from Hawaii we craved for our weekly poke tradition. Based upon Yelp reviews, we decided to stop by this spot and order take out. While I was waiting in the car with my infant my Husband went inside. He ordered the Lobster Roll, a Large Poke Bowl, and a side of poke. When we came home we ate the Lobster Roll first, to our surprise it was very disappointing! It primarily had imitation crab and no lobster taste nor sight of it. Dont bother getting your hopes up for should be known, Imitation Crab Roll. Next, we split the Large Ahi Poke Bowl with spicy ponzu sauce and again to our surprise this left us upset. The Ahi was previously frozen, mushy and looked like watermelon cubes! The sauce was so little the poke was very dry.To top this all off, we bought a side of poke for dad which was his Birthday and we had all gotten sick including my fussy infant shortly after. We spent my dads birthday home sick!Later that day I called the Restaurant and spoke with Rachel who was of no help. She wasnt polite on the phone and couldnt assist. She told me to call back that night at 9pm to talk with the Owner Dwayne. Because it was a long day of misery I hadnt had the time to call until today (2 days later). I called and this time Valencia answers and ask if she could be of assistance, so I told her the story feeling horrible having to relive the moment for a few minutes. Then she says hold on Ill pass the phone to my Manager which she hadnt introduced to me prior to handing the phone. Having to ask who I was talking to, Nicolas then asks me whats going on. Again, for the third time I had to repeat the situation! At this point, he says hell call Dwayne and let him know along with a full refund. So I said Ill be back in store before we fly out and he hung up. Two minutes later, Nicolas calls back and says he spoke with Dwayne and if we bring a receipt then they can do the refund. I always hold onto receipts but this time no receipt was given to my husband. Nicolas responds with, theres nothing they can do.First off, the Owner Dwayne had no care to call me personally. Secondly, after explaining the situation with 3 different employees they should be trained better with customer service. Lastly, never honor anything said in the beginning then to take it back at the last minute. Thankfully, we paid by credit card. We do have proof of purchase!Any Business Owners within the food industry, all I ask is to provide high quality food (do not false advertise and bait switch menu items that are not real) and friendly customer service. If you cant provide both, then why be in business just to give any less than 100%.

This is our favorite Japanese Restaurant! The food is fresh and very favorable, portions are just right, and prices are very fair. I LOVE their bento boxes. My husband has eaten Sushi for 3 decades and us very picky and hard to please, so I am so thankful we found this place! The amazing complementary green tea ice cream the bring with the check is the icing on the cake! Highly recommend.
Benihana
26420 Ynez Rd, Temecula, CA 92591, United States
I visited Benihana on Tuesday, March 12th around 8 pm with a party of three. I walked in and saw people waiting and an empty hostess stand. It became clear that the groups were waiting so I knew there was a hostess. There was no one in sight. I waited five minutes and tried to locate someone, the person at the bar was busy serving another couple. There was a window that had staff working behind it that another customer was talking to them through. I walked into the actual restaurant looking for anyone that could help. I saw a young woman with an iPad standing in the middle. I asked her whether there was a hostess and she said “Yes, you'll need to wait” I then discovered that SHE was the hostess and at exactly 10 minutes from the time I entered the restaurant I was assisted with putting my name down. We were shown to a table and waited, and waited some more, after about another 10 minutes a waitress came and apologized for the wait and let us know that she was not informed that we had been seated. She took our drink orders, then came back to take our actual orders. My party had sushi appetizers and it took a normal amount of time for those out and thank the universe that they did. From the time we sat down, it took almost 45 minutes to an hour for the “chef” to come to our table and begin cooking. He immediately let us know that this was only a second time doing the cooking and asked for our patience. I was fine with that until when he did his first “trick” and a spatula came flying my way. I moved my chair back a bit as did my sister. He began with the shrimp and it was undercooked. He served it to members of my table. He then began the chicken and again it was undercooked I advised my son not to eat his. The fried rice was cooked okay and two members of my party got theirs with a protein. I was that it was over-peppered. I had lobster and it was fine just a little overcooked. Then came the steak, mine was supposed to be medium rare and I took about 3 bites and stopped eating it was tough and wildly over-peppered. In between these courses, me and my sisters called the waitress over and told her something was not ok. She offered to have me speak to the manager which I did, I explained about the undercooked food and the over-peppering. He, apologized, and offered to have my food recooked in the back but by then it was 10 pm and I was over the ENTIRE ordeal. None of us received the green tea and by the time the waitress asked if we wanted our ice cream it was 10:25 and I was ready for the check and to get out of there. We left after 10:30 pm. It should not take 2.5 hours to have a meal and the cost of the meal is not cheap. While the waitress was fine, the overall feeling of a seamless experience, great food, and a good environment was simply not there at this restaurant. Processes, communication, and training need to be addressed. I know it is a fairly new restaurant but if you are open for business, it is a paying customer's right to have high expectations for great food and service.

We came here on a Friday night. I get it theyre busy but how can a Japanese restaurant run out of rice? Really? Didnt get our food for 45 min. The people next to us left because they sat for 20 min without anyone taking their order. Our crunchy roll and Hawaiian roll, we had to askfor soy sauce & Wasabi. We love going to this place but tonight its a disaster. They need to get more help on their peak time.

Outstanding food served to us by a very funny chef. The plum sake was delicious and we were entertained by our waitress and our chef while we watched our food being prepared. Love the fresh salad dressing! Had the Teriyaki Steak and it was quick, tender and tasty. We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and we love it. Exceptional service. Wish they would play Japanese music for ambiance. You have to try the plum ice cream--its to die for. Thanks for a great Birthday celebration for my daughter.
