Good flame broiler in OC ! Employees are friendly and well trained. Place is clean and operates like a well oiled machine. Good (quality food ( relatively speaking here people, $8 for beef plate ) and healthy if you can resist the secret sauce ! I always get the beef plate with vegetables.

Usually good... But sometimes (this has happened at least 3x now) they will decide not to answer the phone 30-45 minutes before close. So good luck getting a phone order in.Edit:8/28Now the employees are disconnecting the phone 45 minutes before 6pm. Been trying to call an order in for 30 mins but the phone goes straight to voicemail. Thats great. I have called 6x over the course of 30 mins. So I dont think they were taking orders for that entire timeUpdate: 10/09Employees continuously disconnect phone up to an hour before close. Have not been able to get anything but immediately going to voicemail since 5pm. This happened 2x this week. The owner needs to talk to them or find new employeesUpdate: 4/22/22Employees not answering phone for order at 12pm on a Saturday. How does this place never have good help, why do I even continue to eat here? Every time Im disappointed

Every single time me and my sister go to this location, the girls always are either rude or they get the order wrong every time. Today I repeated that I wanted avocado in my order 3 times and didn't get any avocado and the girl claims she didn't hear me yet none of the other workers were talking to her around the register at all except for me. How is it that you couldn't hear me when I repeated it 3 different times?

What an amazing little hole in the wall grill. We were going to go to Longboards next door but decided against it. We got chicken and beef plates as well as a side of salmon and a California plate. Everything was fresh. Everything was delicious on the freshness of everything from the meat to the Sriracha. The salad was on point nice and leafy greens. The dressing wasnt too pungent and the sauce wasnt too heavy or old. Appreciation to the owner for having love in his restaurant and providing some beautiful grill food! On top of that this place was so speedy and fast. It made for a good to go place when we were in a hurry to get home to our dogs!

Huckleberrys Famous Sandwich
15891 Gothard St, Huntington Beach, CA 92647, United States
Located across the parking lot of the Farmers Market pyramid on Gothard Street (near the intersection of Gothard and Edinger in Huntington Beach), this is a small, family-owned restaurant specializing in sandwiches (hot and cold) and broasted chicken (a special cooking process combining pressure-frying and traditional shallow frying, to produce juicy fried chicken with a crispy outer layer). The chicken is VERY GOOD: crispy on the outside, juicy and very tasty on the inside. Its not as greasy as conventional deep-fried chicken, and therefore its much easier on your stomach. You can get the chicken in combos (2-piece, 3-piece, 5-piece etc.), with or without sides (you get to pick 2) and a fountain drink. Or you can simply order as many pieces as you like a la carte. The potatoes were excellent: you get huge chunks (basically 2 per potato) that are crispy on the outside but soft as baked potatoes on the inside. Great idea, I loved it! We also tried one of their hot sandwiches, specifically the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. The sandwich is 9 long, good size for a whole meal, and still a good size to share if youre also eating something else. Maybe its not as out-of-the-world fantastic as Johns Philly Grille (which I consider by far the best Philly Cheesesteak in Orange Co.), but its not that far off. Its pretty simple: thinly-sliced ribeye steak, provolone cheese, onions, and mushrooms. Pretty much the original recipe, except maybe for the mushrooms (a concession to West Coast taste, maybe? Personally, I love mushrooms in a Philly Cheesesteak!) The service was excellent. The wait was about 15 minutes from order, which is very reasonable (if the food is too fast, chances are its not that good...) Highly recommended.
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
7862 Warner Ave #109, Huntington Beach, CA 92647, United States
Summary: All you can eat for $30 is a pretty good deal given the quality and quantity of the food. Tastes and textures were pretty good. Service was rapid in bringing out food and laying out the fine print (the latter being a bad thing). Wouldnt recommend coming with a large party unless you have a system for managing the grill already in place. Grills need to be changed out more often. My family and my sisters fiances family merged for a 13-person dinner on a Sunday at 5:30pm for her birthday dinner. We arrived around 5:20pm, but ended up waiting until 5:45pm for the tables to be ready (even though they were in the back room, where no one was currently sitting). Not ideal timing since there was a young child in the group that was ready for his din din.We were given two booths for all of us. Which meant one booth had 3 and 3, and the other had 4 and 3. Not spacious really, and each table had one grill, so that meant a lot of hands going to the grill and not a lot of table space since there were plates, sauce trays, glasses, etc. already there. Far from logistically ideal. We were given some menus and told that the happy hour all you can eat price is $30/person. It was encouraged that that be selected, so everyone agreed to go that route for simplicity. We were then told to look over the menu and decide the stuff we wanted. After reviewing, we had an idea, but then the server told us she would just bring two orders of each meat so we could get a taste of everything. Heres where things got kind of sketchy. She basically selected the food for us, minus some of the appetizers we asked for, but after telling us shed bring out two of everything (many of the dishes we would not have ordered normally), she then said wed have 90 minutes to eat everything and anything left wed be charged at the a la carte price for. Itd be one thing for us to get charged for extra food we didnt eat if we specifically ordered it, but to be told that AFTER being told what shed bring for us anyways, was just wrong IMO. This left a stain in our heads throughout the meal that we would have to finish everything or pay extra. Whether it was true or not, I cant say, but just having that constantly in the foreground throughout a celebratory dinner is far from an ideal experience. The food started coming out. Plate after plate after plate. As wed start to put stuff on the grill, more food would arrive. Wed have to shuffle things around to make space, and then our food would get charred on one side. Wed try to get those things off the grill and more food would arrive. Wed play the shuffling game again, and our food that had been removed wouldnt be hot anymore. The pacing was just not working for a large group that didnt have a system for how to manage all the items while ensuring everyone got fed. They changed the grill once, but then we had to ask for it to be changed a second time once it was loaded with burnt food that we couldnt remove in time. I tend to be able to eat a lot of food, but I felt like I didnt eat nearly as much as I normally would because I was in the middle on one side and trying to make sure everyone got food and that the stuff on the grill didnt overcook. I ordered one plate extra for myself, but I didnt want to do more since everyone was finishing up and it would look strange for me to be the only one still eating a bunch.Ultimately, it was a decent first Japanese BBQ experience, and I appreciate the potential of Gyu Kaku, but I felt like the restaurant either couldnt handle us properly, or the servers didnt pace things right for us to have a more relaxed dining experience. Either way, Im not sure if Ill come back. If I do, it definitely wont be with a party bigger than four people.
Kung Pao Bowl
6840 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647, United States
Ate here recently. It started off OK. We arrived and got seated right away at one of their nice booths. Not even 2 minutes after and the server was already wanting our food order. Theres not a particular server assigned to a station. A different server came to take our order. First, our food came out quickly and was not hot as if cooked fresh. I ordered iced tea to drink during my meal I needed a refill and no one came to my table to ensure everything was OK. I had to flag a busboy to request a ice tea refill. Then, he took a while before coming back. So, I flagged another person and right when the 2nd server came to my booth, the busboy grabs my glass and takes off to get me a refill - strange. It was as if he remembered he was supposed to have gotten me an ice tea refill. Then, no one came by at all to ask if all ok. Just a different server brought over the bill and put it on the table and walked away. Then, another lady server brought over to-go small styrofoam containers and left. Finally, busboy came to take my check to the front and we waited until the main lady got off the phone before my bill was charged and brought over to my table. My 1st impression is that friendliness is not something practiced here. For what they charge for basic Chinese food, at least it should be friendly. I wont be coming back.
Da Hawaiian Kitchen
9842 Adams Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646, United States
Since Kings Hawaiian no longer has lau lau on their menu (as of June 2021) and Shakas in Monterey Park is gone (my closest place for kalua pig) and my vacation to Kauai has been in COVID hold, I had to find a new local place for that Hawaiian fix. Looking at everyone elses reviews and pictures convinced me this was the place to go. Got the DHK plate and CPC Chicken plate with spicy garlic (was originally going to get just the garlic sauce, but a couple of reviews convinced me that spicy was the way to go).The lau lau (they had 2 ready when I got there) did not disappoint. It was decent size and meaty and moist, not soupy. My husband got the butterfish in the half l left him ? which he said was good. The kalua had that nice smokey taste that I love. It wasnt fatty or greasy either. It hit that crave. Kalua was on a bed of cabbage not mixed in to water down that smokey flavor. The CPC was deep fried crunchy goodness with a garlicky, spicy sweet sauce that kicks you after. Even with the sauce coating the chicken the crunch was still there. The loud crunch was the first thing I observed with the chicken and that was from my husband taking that first bite. The chicken thigh was not a small piece either so eating one of the two chicken was satisfying. The mac salad was different from others that Ive had with a nice eggy flavor that I did not expect. I can see why others would get two scoops instead of rice, but that spicy garlic sauce on the rice was so good too.If I get to make that trek back, I want to try the loco moco and bacon fried rice.
