Momona
330 Main St Suite 100, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Momonas new updated location is the perfect blend of updated and upscale dining while also keeping the charm of the older building they renovated. The atmosphere had a great charm to it that felt more like laid back family style dining. The food and drinks came out quickly, which was a surprise as they where pretty packed for a Wednesday evening. Their new updated dinner and cocktail menu was great to see. I will say they do need to tweak a few things on some of their dishes and cocktail menu for my review to go from 3 to 5 stars. The chicken and waffles was good, but it needs a something like a maple syrup element to tie in the mochi waffle and the chicken. A spicy maple syrup would have been perfect to cut the dryness of the waffle. Also, who makes a chicken and waffle dish and does not have a syrup! The Shrimp and Rice was tasty with a warm and savory coating to it but it needed something like Siracha mayo to coat the rice a little since the fried rice was dry. I also hate when you pay almost $20 for a shrimp meal and you have to de shell the shrimp yourself. It is a messy process. The kimchi and bao where as always amazing and will be my number one item I come back to purchase every time. The reason for the three stars is the cocktails flavor profiles VERY where off. Started with a cocktail that had a orange citrus flavor and oat milk and tapioca pearls. The tapioca where rock hard and we could not enjoy them at all and the oat-milk did nothing to defuse the acidic flavor in drink from the orange they added. The cocktail needed an herbal element to it to cut the acidity. My friend had a drink that was very tropical TeKi drink but it was over powering in its rye whiskey and sugar, making it very had to enjoy. The last drink we got was the Suzie Q, which was very off in its flavor profile as it tasted like straight up soap. Something about the yuzu, sake and green chartreuse did not pare well all and all three in my party thought it was the most unpalatable cocktail of all three. For $12 cocktails, these need to be slightly more refined in order for me to try them again.I will go back again for sure but hope they continue to work on some of these dishes so it goes from good to great!

Live Life Juice Co
220 Broadway St, Chico, CA 95928, United States
This shop knows juice. I haven’t branched out too far from the veggie Mary with jalapeños, simply because I love a good savory vegetable drink. I am personally not fond of anything with apples or oranges. Give me anything with those spicy vegetables! I have gotten a lot of food items and am learning more about cooking vegan dishes by trying what this shop cooks up. I love their tofu, potato’s, noodles, all of it has been so good. It’s hard to find quick bites that are plant based and delicious. Give them a try! Even if you’re not vegan, the food they have is totally worth exploring. I feel confident saying that considering I used to eat basically anything that smelled yummy.

Snow Man Ramen
951 Nord Ave #3, Chico, CA 95926, United States
Service is fast and friendly! Seems like a mom and pop shop, and they are working hard providing a great product. My daughter and I ordered tonkatsu ramen and cream cheese wontons. The wontons arent put together until they are ordered and you can taste how fresh and clean they are. The ramen was rich and there was a really decent amount of pork belly served with it. We took it to go and they keep the broth and ramen stuff in separate containers as to not make the ramen noodles too soft. Portions are super big and my daughter couldnt finish hers because there was so much. I wasnt able to eat mine for a few hours after we got home, but it held up quite well and was still very delicious. Will definitely be back. I want to try their fried rice next.

Lilis Brazilian Bistro
140 Broadway St #142, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Lilis Brazilian Bistro is our family favorite eatery! Ive made it a goal to work through the menu and try everything! She offers a lovely selection of vegan and omnivore options, with the majority of entrées running under $20 Lilis can be an economic option, or you can go big with imported drinks, appetizer, and a plethora of homemade desserts! A large organic salad and generous cup of soup will cost you $15, while Moqueca Vegana (a tasty pasta dish) is $17.So far Ive tried 3 soups of the day, Pão Na Chapa (cheesy toast), most of the appetizers, and a variety of entrees. The two vegan soups were delicious, but the chicken soup has my heart! Her salad is made of the highest quality greens in town, so fresh and crispy. Then theres the beef steak! So tender and seasoned to perfection, A+ I like it on the salad. It is also offered as a sandwich or in several different entrées.My favorite item hands down are the Pão De Queijo. I kid you not, Im salivating right now as I type this! These three-cheese balls of doughy gluten-free and deep fried goodness are the stuff dreams are made of!

Asian Market
347 Nord Ave #3, Chico, CA 95926, United States
Neat odds and ends, plenty of ingredients, and a nice selection of foreign snacks. Gotta love their melon soda. They also have a small section where some older lady comes by and drops off homemade dishes throughout the day. You never know what youll find. Could be minced meat dumplings, could be unnamed banana leaf-wrapped yum food. Come try something new, like their high protein canned tofu chicken that looked so weird i just had to try it on a dish.

Spiteris Catering
971 East Ave, Chico, CA 95926, United States
What a fantastic deli! The moment we opened the front door the smell of fresh veggies slapped us right in the face. The menu is easy to understand and really straightforward; pick your meat, cheese, bread, and condiments. The chip selection is vast and they also have a whole bunch of other side dishes that you can order if you aren't feeling the chips. Fountain drinks are self-serve, but the beer is not (for obvious reason).I ended up ordering a turkey and ham on wheat with pepper jack. The sandwich was absolutely to die for. Remember the fresh ingredients I mentioned at the beginning of my review? The meat, the cheese, and the veggies were all perfect. I came in assuming that they would skimp on the meat, like so many other sandwich shops, so I ordered two meats. I wouldn't really call it a mistake, because I was delighted, but they put more than enough meat on their sandwiches so ordering the second meat wasn't really necessary. The meat and cheese were both so flavorful and the lettuce had the perfect crunch; the lettuce was also shredded, which I prefer on my sandwiches. My kids got the tuna on wheat with provolone and absolutely destroyed it. They said that the tuna was really good. They also ordered sides of the bacon mac & cheese and it was phenomenal. I'm pretty sure I actually ended up eating the majority of the mac myself because it was that good.I highly recommend this establishment if you are looking for a killer sandwich in the Chico area.

Sierra Nevada Taproom & Restaurant
1075 E 20th St, Chico, CA 95928, United States
The craft beer! Oh, the craft beer! Working on the road, as I often do, and being a lover of delicious craft beer, the Sierra Nevada Taproom and Restaurant pulls me in like a thirsty moth to a lit up beer light. The Taproom/Restaurant is on the grounds of the brewery mere minutes off of CA 99. Theres plenty of parking and the tantalizing aromas of beer brewing in progress waft generously through the air.Twice Ive visited and twice Ive had a superior experience. My first visit was a tasters delight. Heres my tasting notes from that visit (not super detailed, just basic impressions):Kellerweis: soft, velvety beer. Unfiltered wheat. Delish.Otra Vez: wow. The grapefruit and prickly pear flavors really stand out. Lively, zesty. Damn good. Refreshing. Tangy.Old Chico Brand Crystal Wheat: filtered wheat, crisp, clean finish. Light bodied.Summerfest: just released today. Pilsner style Lager. Crisp finish. Healthy carbonation.Knightro: nitrogenated. Creamy Stout.Bigfoot: 2017: massive flavor roasted malt and major hops. Hearty and ggggrrrreeeaaattt.Black IPA: pretty lively carbonated for an IPA. Nice subtle roast finish.Audition-American Barleywine: creamy and hoppy, but not overbearing in the least. Caramel and toffee malt-induced sweetness.Sidecar Orange Pale Ale: Tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. Rather light.Tropical Torpedo IPA: nice changeup on the Torpedo IPA. The fruitiness comes from the Hop varieties used, not from a fruit infusion.Old Chico Brand Pale Bock: damn good, really really good.Beer Camp Golden IPA: another winner.Sausage Platter: sauerkraut was crisp and tangy. Sausages were tasty and satisfying.During my second visit, I knocked back a pint of their East Coast Style meets West Coast Style Twin Tides Double IPA. Plenty of Hop flavor and citrus without any cloying sweetness made this an easy drinking and fine flavored Ale. I followed with a pint of their Audition Salted Caramel Scotch Ale. Lots of maltiness with a little smoke on the finish.Their Buffalo Wings ably staved off my hunger pangs. Drummies were well sized, but the wings needed to grow up some. Flavor was great throughout so I have no complaints. They offer both bar, dining room and outdoor seating. Inside is beautifully adorned while the outdoor area shines best when the sun does. Both times I had superior table service and easy friendliness at the host/hostess station upon walking through the adorned doors. The Sierra Nevada Taproom and Restaurant is a must for those who enjoy good food, delicious craft beer or both. Go by yourself or with a group, but just go!

MY Oriental Market
2550 S Whitman Pl, Chico, CA 95928, United States
I recently moved to Chico from Sacramento. In Sac asian markets have really taken off within the last ten years. Being someone who was raised there though, MNY Oriental market takes me back to when I was a child. When the local asian market was just a small shop that was crammed with amazing ingredients that are hard to find and amazingly priced. Its nostalgic but definitely a positive outlook on this place. I hope they can grow and expand in the future. With that said... The selection at this place is incomparable to others when you are looking for asian ingredients in the area. The people who run this place are knowledgeable and always willing to help you find a product. So, if youre in the area and want to find some amazing ingredients at good prices, definitely stop by.

Halo Hawaiian BBQ
1354 East Ave P, Chico, CA 95926, United States
I got dinner from Halo Hawaiian for the first time last night, and I will likely not be back. Theyre open until 9:30pm, and when we walked in around 8pm they were extremely busy with a line of people as well as others coming in to pick up to-go orders. Good sign, right? For some reason, it seemed like they were doing closing procedures in the middle of this madness... 90 mins before they actually closed. All of the buckets of ingredients were pulled out of the display area and placed randomly across all of the counters. From a food safety perspective, this gave me the ick. Like, one of the employees was preparing a poke bowl and scooped poke from a container that was sitting open next to the register?? I envisioned Gordon Ramsey on Kitchen Nightmares screaming, Youre going to kill someone! It just didnt look safe. Needless to say, I didnt order the poke. A few containers of toppings were empty and we were asked if we were ok skipping the item rather than the staff retrieving more from the back. The whole experience was odd... and after all that, the bowl was just ok.
