Lao Wang
6530 Pardall Rd SUIT.B, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Lao Wang YUMMMmm, this is by far the safest and my go-to option in IV (imo). The food here is always consistent! I got the sweet and sour chicken rice bowl with an add on of garlic tofu and let me tellll you, its delicious! The chicken is crisp and tender with a coat of their homemade sweet and sour sauce, added on was fried tofu in their yummy garlic sauce, and the bowl comes with egg roll, corn, and Mac salad! I also tried their spam, Chinese sausage and popcorn chicken buns. This was a flavorful appetizer. I highly recommend trying them with spicy mayo and jalapeños that they provide in the dining room. And lastly, for this meal, I ordered the curry chicken fingers. As you bite into this, you can see the coat of curry sitting in between the chicken and batter. It is flavorful in itself, but dipped in ranch is even better! To quench your thirst, they have a variety of beverages like tea in the fridge (my fav is the herbal tea). Josh, the manager, definitely does a great job in recommending which items are good for you, and esp if its your first visit, hell eagerly want to present the menu to you. I highly recommend you try this place out and ask Josh for recs. Also its right outside Pardall tunnel, very close to campus!

Nikka Japanese Market

Wow! This place is amazing. At first glance, it seems pretty small and you wonder how much stuff they could actually have there... and youd be shocked! The store is narrow and a bit crowded, but DEEP! and absolutely filled with any Japanese/Asian grocery item you may need! Even within an item category, e.g. chili paste or curry roux, you can find plenty of price and brand variety. Honestly, other than fresh meat and fish selection, this place has practically everything you need to make most Japanese dishes. Some notable products:- Good variety of both large and small bags of rice- Various cooking sauces and seasonings, not limited to Japanese cooking but also many Vietnamese/Thai/other Asian products (e.g. mirin, sake, ponzu, sesame oil, oyster sauce, chili sauces, sushi seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, tonkatsu sauce... the list goes on!)- Good selection of produce (e.g. shishito peppers, eggplant, radish sprouts, Tokyo onion, yams, lotus root, various mushrooms...)- Some frozen meats for dishes like shabu shabu- Pickles/tsukemono (e.g. fukujinzuke, shibasuke, rakkyo, takuan, kimchi)- Frozen dumplings and gyoze/wonton skins to make your own- Lots of miso to choose from!- Huge variety of Japanese snacks! Sometimes certain products cycle out (sadly :( ) but there is always something interesting to check out and they always carry classics like potato chips- Lots of Japanese drinks and refrigerated snacks like cakes in the fridges lining the store- Small selection of Japanese electronics like rice cookers and water heaters- Variety of kitchen tools and tablewareMan, this place is awesome! So much packed into such a small space, a true gem! The service is always great as well, very nice and polite. Plenty of parking too, which is always a plus!
Goleta Hand Car Wash and Detail Center
5841 Hollister Ave, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Been coming to your car wash from last year at least once a month. Always a great experience and a great car wash.Got my car detailed few times, and they never disappoints me. They are attentive to details and they actually take time to throughly rinse your car because the strong chemicals eat the paint, which is something Ive had experienced with other car washes. The wax they use is phenomenal and makes my car look like new all the time.Whats more, they even offered me a free spray wax on the regular washes number of times. If you ask them, Im sure they will be happy to do on yours too! Attendants are nice.I will continue to be a loyal customer and would highly recommend this car wash to everyone!!
Nikka Ramen
5701 Calle Real, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Casual neighborhood ramen joint in the Calle Real shopping center between KFC and Trader Joe’s. There’s nothing better on a cool pre-autumnal night than slurping the delicious spicy bone broth and chewing the al dente thick craft noodles in a bowl of ramen. Love the meaty succulence of their chashu pork and the bite of all the veggies that top the bowl of noodles. Don’t forget to start with an app such as their spicy tuna on crispy rice. It was MacReeves’ first time trying it and he said it was so good! Service is prompt and polite. Prices are fair. Goleta is lucky to have a go-to spot like Nikka Ramen for authentic and tasty Japanese yum.
Nikka Fish Market & Grill
5722 Calle Real, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Excellent food. Everything was delicious, fresh and hot. You order at counter, pay, then food & drinks come to you. It helps to know what you want if you're in a pinch for time, not our situation while on vacation. Ordered 1/2 dozen of raw oysters on half shell, they were delicious. Tasted like Hama hama's for sure, the distinct mellon finish and they were very fresh. We had calamari as an appetizer, personally I'm not a fan of the giant rings & prefer the smaller bodied squid, which are more tender & not stringy. Aside from that, the shrimp salad my wife ordered was excellent, my ahi Tuna sandwich was excellent and the fish and chips.... well, how can you mess that up. I'd go back, the cioppino looked amazing & I want to try it.
Home Plate Grill
7398 Calle Real Suite C, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Ive eaten at Home Plate a few times now, and have even brought my colleagues from work with me twice. It is really really good! The people are awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, comfortable, and family-friendly, and everything that Ive tried on the menu has been prepared with high-quality ingredients and has been delicious. The sirloin burger may be one of, if not the, best burger sIve had in town. The chopped Italian salad is great, and really refreshing. The sliders were excellent. And, if youre in the mood for a more adult atmosphere, you can go to the bar next door and the folks from Home Plate will bring your food over to you, maybe a giant awesome pizza that you will want to gorge yourself with uncontrollably. Or get it by the slice!Really, its much better than Cal Taco or the other nearby options, and is well worth giving a try.
Costco Wholesale
7095 Market Pl Dr, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
I usually enjoy shopping at this Costco and have never really had any issues and always reflected my experiences as positive until today. I changed my 5 star to 1 star because of one negative employee experience and unfortunately it overpowers all of my positive experience prior to today. If a Manager is truly reading this review, I hope this would get addressed in the next employee meeting in the hopes that this Costco can create a better customer experience.Today was my little daughter's 5th birthday and all morning she asked me over and over if we could spend her birthday going to Costco to pick up those really cool new water balloons that hook up to the hose. We've spent a few hundred dollars at this Costco this particular summer buying those water balloons and my daughter really wanted them again today for her birthday. My daughter and I arrived at Costco today and we walked up and down the aisles in search of these balloons and after several minutes I decided to ask an employee to point us in the right direction. At this point we had made our way to the middle of Costco in the clothing section. There were three female employees standing around telling a story in Spanish and laughing. My daughter and I waited a few seconds for them to finish their story as I did not want to interrupt and even though the employees noticed us standing and waiting to ask a question, none of them stopped their conversation and kept laughing. I looked around and did not immediately see any other employees to ask my quick question so finally I politely interrupted and excused myself and asked them if they could point me to the waterballons after a quick description. In midst of my question one of the ladies (who appeared to be very irritated that I interrupted their story) interrupted me and said “we are sold out” and turned her back to me and continued to tell her story in Spanish to the other two female employees. I looked at my daughter and the disappoint in her face broke me. I thanked the ladies (who didn't acknowledge me again and continued to tell their story and laugh) and my daughter and I walked away. At this point, I picked up my daughter and told her that I'm really sorry that the waterballons are all sold out and I offered to take my daughter around the store to pick out a different present to cheer her up. As we walked towards the back of the store, I immediately locked eyes on a massive pallet of the same exact water balloons right on one of the main aisles. I was blown away and my daughter started to cheer as we placed four big boxes of waterballons in the cart. My daughter was so happy on her birthday that we were able to find the exact waterballons that she wanted! We walked around the store for another twenty/thirty minutes and ended up filling the cart with a bunch of other items. As I made my way back up to the front of the store to pay for our balloons and probably $300 more dollars worth of items, I observed the same three female employees still in the same place telling stories and laughing. I immediately felt angry and I made my way towards them and as I approached them, I picked up the four boxes of waterballons from my cart and held them in my arms and I informed the ladies that I had found an entire pallet of waterballons that they had told me was sold out, just because they were too lazy and careless to assist a customer. I also put them on notice that their behavior was classless and that they were a poor representation of what Costco works so extremely hard to uphold in their employees. I then asked the lady who lied to me about the balloons being sold out to look at my daughter.. and finished by telling her that because of her extremely poor customer service and lack of care for her customers, that my daughter was heart broken on her birthday and that next time with the next customer, that she should at least pretend to care when someone needs assistance and my daughter and I walked away.I have the name of this employee and her co workers.
Indo China Market Goleta
6831 Hollister Ave, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
While you might not find everything under the sun, as it is a small family-run market, you will find all the essentials for a variety of cuisines and the information provided about various products is willingly given. I found that the earlier negative review about the service disconcerting as I send a lot of friends and cooking students to the store, but I completely understand how important it is to close on time and get home to have dinner with family, as these people are very hardworking and spend about 12 hours a day working on getting fresh stock in and then are on their feet all day cleaning and providing service to the customers. Its a long day--give them a break and try to show up a bit earlier or call ahead to make sure what you want is available first. Personally, I think the service here is better and the line more complete than Nikka (Japanese store) or the Vietnamese shop on Hollister near Fairview, in the old liquor store, next to the noodle cafe. Those other two stores never even try to get you what you request.
Hilton Garden Inn Santa BarbaraGoleta
6878 Hollister Ave, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Beautiful, immaculate hotel! One of cleanest hotels I have visited!! Excellent facilities and friendly staff. This was my first visit to this hotel, located near Beautiful Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Airport. The hotel is located in Goleta, convenient to numerous shopping and dining options. The hotel is well maintained and appears brand new. However, after inquiring at the front desk, I learned the hotel is actually five years of age. Nevertheless, the hotel facilities and guestrooms feel, look, and even smell new! All of the hotels common areas, including the lobby, registration desk, pool and convenience area is totally immaculate. The hotel is nicely landscaped and well appointed and furnished. My guestroom was quiet and comfortable. It seemed a little larger than the average hotel guestroom. My guestroom included modern, upgraded furnishings and decor, including a mini-fridge, microwave, comfortable bedding, large work desk, and convenient reading lights for reading in bed (a true luxury for me!). Although I didnt get a chance to use the pool, it looked very clean and refreshing. The hotel has a roof top restaurant and lounge, which my colleagues report being very nice. Unfortunately, due to a private event the evening of my stay, I didnt get to experience it. If youre traveling without transportation, as I and my colleagues, there are numerous restaurants and shopping options within walking distance of the hotel. Due to the private event at the hotel, my colleagues and I visited the Chilis located across the street. Finally, the hotel registration staff was excellent! Upon arrival and departure, the front desk staff was efficient, professional and extremely friendly. I am a huge fan of the Hilton Garden Inn brand, and this hotel is the epitome of a superb, comfortable, immaculate hotel!
