I had the pleasure of dining at Phenomenal in National City, and let me tell you, the experience lived up to its name in every possible way! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the extremely friendly and hospitable Sam, who prepared an unforgettable meal.Sam took the time to explain to us that Phenomenal specializes in one type of pho, and its a Cambodian-style masterpiece called House Special. We were intrigued by this unique product, we decided to try it out. The House Special Pho is served with ribs and meatballs, creating a delicate blend of flavors and textures that is simply out of this world.Simmered short ribs, beef bone broth, and perfectly marinated meatballs blend together to create a harmonious symphony of flavors that makes our taste buds dance with joy. The photos and videos we took (yes, we couldnt resist immortalizing this moment!) We hope to give you a glimpse of the delicious flavors of this pho.Besides pho, we also ordered spring rolls. Portion sizes are generous and the freshness of the ingredients shines through. We ordered two dishes, but in retrospect, only one would have been enough, as the abundant pho awaited us.The atmosphere of Phenomenon was also a pleasant surprise. They played a video of imported cars with hip-hop music in the background, adding a unique and lively touch to the atmosphere. The volume of the music was perfect, allowing for comfortable conversation without overwhelming the experience.Cleanliness is paramount and Phenomenal excelled in this department. The restaurant and restrooms are maintained extremely cleanly, contributing to an overall pleasant dining environment. What really sets Phenomenal apart is the exceptional service provided by Sam. He checked on us multiple times to make sure our meal was perfect. His warm personality and engaging conversation added joy to our dining experience. In short, Phenomenon in National City is an absolute gem that lives up to its glowing reputation every moment. If you are a Pho enthusiast or simply looking for an unforgettable culinary experience, this is a destination not to be missed. I cant wait to go back and enjoy their house special Pho again.Truly extraordinary!

Daiso
1420 E Plaza Blvd b1, National City, CA 91950, United States
April 1,2022 I stop by for a SEAFOOD CITY, AN ASIAN GROCERY for an errand but when I saw that next to it is a DAISO STORE, I went inside and browse each aisle coz i am a big fan of DAISO IN MANILA PHILIPPINES. ( then totally forgot to stop by SEAFOOD CITY BECAUSE MY HUSBAND TOLD ME WE HAVE NO MORE TIME left, Never mind if I could not get what we have intended to get from the grocery store, as I would trade anything and everything for a DAISO EXPERIENCE)everything inside looks appealing to me, every merchandise they have is so tempting :) so I bought some few cute and cool stuffs like donut ? silicone mold, 2 super mini donut molds, hair accessories, hat clips, laundry bag, sole foot pad. So I paid $18++ using my credit card and when i got home I notice that on the receipt - i paid more for something that was not there, i was billed double for an item 1.75 - I only bought one but it was 2 items - checked the number of total items and check all the items in my shopping paper bag. Was kinda disappointed and I asked my husband if we could go back there but he says we can't coz its a bit far and we were heading back to OXNARD AND WE WERE JUST THERE FOR A -3D 2N stay for sightseeing of SAN DIEGO. I know it might just a little mistake on their part. i still love everything I got and I love that their shop is kind of unique. ???? when im back home in Manila, Id visit every DAISO STORE I COULD FIND. :)

My goto pho shop when I am in the area. Fast friendly service and delicious food! I go for the noodle bowl with grilled chicken. The beef stew is excellent with baguette and of course pho soups. You cant go wrong here.

I dont normally write reviews but I felt compelled to write one based on service, food, accuracy of order, knowledge, and most of all the 4.7 rating (should be 4.7 out of 10). We ordered 3 pho noodles (2 large shrimp with extra shrimp and veges and 1 small combo) and a spring roll. Not a complicated order IMO. We get the 3 pho noodles and wait for the spring rolls which are nowhere to be found. We get a garnish for the pho that is barely enough for 1 small pho. I had to literally ask twice for more from the foodrunner and he gave me a funny look for whatever reason. I also asked about the spring rolls and they were still clueless. Both of the large shrimp pho with extra shrimp had 5-6 shrimp (not sure I would call the 6th a shrimp). When I ask if mine was with extra shrimp they didnt know. When I asked about how many shrimp come in the large shrimp pho they still didnt know. BTW, the shrimp pho does not come with veges. They server came to our table twice (once for the order and once on the tail end of our food coming out when we cancelled the spring rolls and extra shrimp). We ate, cashed out, and left. I was excited about eating pho and at this place but it was quite a let down. Needless to say, we probably wont be revisiting. The terrible service, cluelessness, accuracy of order is just not worth it. I was, honestly, left in awe. The pho is decent. It needs to be a hell of a lot better to overcome the other issues.
Titas Kitchenette
2720 E Plaza Blvd E, National City, CA 91950, United States
2022 update: This place looks like it has cleaned up quite a bit, the tables and chairs look newer and they have water and to-go containers set out for customers. I've eaten here a couple times in the past year and it was pretty satisfying. Their lumpia and bbq are both great, and their sisig is solid too. Would not fault anyone giving them a 3-star and above. I look forward to going again and would recommend.Original:I actually ate here a few months ago, but Im not gonna lie, this place reminded me of a dirty gas station bathroom. The only thing that made me give this place A star was that their portions were decently sized. The place barely looked clean and needs to be renovated. If the place looks that dirty, how do you think they treat the food? Im all for divey, but not dirty-looking. I brought a girl here based on the 4-star yelp reviews, but I may as well have taken her to eat in a subway station bathroom in New York. Taking someone to this place actually made me feel ashamed to be Filipino. Id rather Google a recipe and BBQ some chicken skewers myself than coming back to this place, even for take-out. After looking at some other reviews that mentioned people getting food poisoning from this place, I think I lucked out just having to tolerate a dirty, shabby restaurant.Eff this place, seriously, what are you 3-star reviewers and above thinking? Some of the high reviewers mention duct-taped seats and workers could use some manners but still giving the place 4-stars on their review? Some other people say it replicates the Manila street food experience, but who immigrates to a first-world country and wants a third-world dining experience?

I have been coming to this mall since I was a teenager. They have a great food court that you must try. I would recommend the Mongolian noodles. They also have a movie theater. There are shoe shops clothing shops coffee shops and even a Barbershop. I believe theres a hooters downstairs next to the target store.
Teriyaki Sun
4 N Euclid Ave, National City, CA 91950, United States
Google recommend that I try out Teriyaki Sun as a new restaurant near me, and I decided to try it tonight. It wasnt very difficult to get here and parking wasnt bad at 6pm. The dining area is fairly plain and simple, but very clean. The decor is Island inspired, with an island / Asian fusion menu. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, with fried rice and a coke. It came with a salad that is tasty, and crisp, with a creamy ginger dressing. The potato salad was not what I was expecting, but I am very happy with what was served. The potatoes seem to be hand mashed with circular sliced carrots and macaroni. It was very mildly seasoned, which brought out more potato taste, which I think is a bit unique for an island inspired side, kudos for that. The chicken has a mild marinade if any at all, but is grilled perfectly. It is boneless thigh meat. It is served with a side of teriyaki sauce that is tasty. The fried rice is good with egg, corn, carrots, onion, and green pepper. All in all, the food is not over seasoned, which is a huge plus for me. The portions are more than adequate for all but the heaviest of eaters. Google referred me to Teriyaki Sun, and I am glad they did. I wish it was closer to my home so I could go more often. I certainly suggest giving it a try for when looking for good food but nothing fancy. As always, I rate stars as follows: 1- not good all around, 2- some good good value, but pretty common and nothing stood out, 3- a solid choice all around, 4- one of my favorites, 5- a great experience all around and very unique for the area.
Cho XO Asian Fusion
1420 E Plaza Blvd Suite D-05, National City, CA 91950, United States
I was so excited for the first Asian Latin Fusion restaurant in San Diego that serves dishes like Lomo saltado shaken fries, Tom Yum pasta, and birria. These dishes have been trendy for years in other parts of SoCal and Bay Area and I was looking forward to not having to travel hours for them. When I found out Chào XO was participating in SDRW, I immediately made plans with my SO to try their dinner menu. In my excitement, I invited some friends, but in the end Im glad they didnt come or else I wouldve felt bad for them spending so much time and money to trek to the other side of town for a lackluster meal.Restaurant decor: the design and decor of the restaurant is very modern and chic. Love the large modern art around, the furniture, and the grassy/leaves.Service: friendly and professional, a little bit slow for our food to come out on a Saturday night (25-30 min). One of our entrees came first before any of our appetizers did. Because we were starving, we dug in without waiting for the appetizers.Birria Truffle Fries:Surprisingly big serving size for an appetizer. The meat was so soft and perfectly seasoned (not too salty). The truffle flavor oil was nice and not overpowered.Unfortunately the tragic flaw of this dish was that the fries were so soggy from the sauce it was sitting in. The fries could use a little more cooking (current state like In-N-Outs fries).Another suggestion would be to have the birria consume sauce on the side, instead of all over the fries.Tom Yum Pasta: *allergen alert* it contains shrimp!I could not tell from the menu that it had any protein in it, but was pleasantly surprised that it came with large succulent shrimps. The shrimps were perfectly cooked--juicy with a nice chew. The linguine was Al dente and the sauce was delightfully cheesy. The presentation was fantastic as it came out sizzling on a hot plate.Where it fell short was there was 0 Tom Yum flavor. Not a hint of sour, tamarind, or herbs like galangal or kaffir like leaf. As a pasta dish, this was stellar, but dont expect Tom Yum.Lomo Saltado:Filet mignon Beef: delicious and tender, a little bit too salty.Rice: a little dry, but it was necessary to even out the saltiness of the beef. Big serving size.Fries: like in the birria truffle fries, undercooked and not crispy. Big serving size.Cilantro sauce: Tasty! My favorite part of this dish.Fresa con cream: this was a surprise that it came out purple/ube when the menu didnt indicate so. It came with sliced strawberry and plenty of cream. Sweet, but not too sweet and balanced from the tart strawberry. Presentation: beautiful color, in a margarita cup with a purple orchid.Overall the food concepts were good, presentation was fantastic, and ambience was pleasant, but executions fell short:Underdone soft/soggy fries, salty saltado meat and dry rice, and misleading menu. But a positive note was that the food wasnt too oily/heavy, which led to a light-feeling stomach despite the late night meal.
