Gokoku Vegetarian Ramen Shop
4147 Lankershim Blvd, Studio City, CA 91602, United States
Small, intimate, all veggie place in LA close to Universal Studios. As a vegetarian, I am used to having only one or two options at most in a Ramen shop. So, an all veggie Ramen shop is most definitely welcome for me. It does feelt great to know that you can virtually eat everything. And the Ramen options they offer are all excellent as well. I went for the build-your-owm options: the classic miso broth was perfect and the noodles tasted fresh.I also really liked the atmosphere in the shop. Its small and intimate, run by just a few staff who, despite a lot of customers both dine-in and take-out, are running a tight ship and are very attentive to customers needs. Quick and friendly service. If I am ever in LA again, Ill definitely try to drop by again.
Burosu ramen
Unit102, 12265 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
Was wanting Ramen tonight and our usual in the area had a wait so knowing that there are no shortages for Ramen places around the Studio City area, thought Id give Burosu a try with all the 5 star reviews.I have to say I was extremely pleased with everything. Our waiter (wish I had gotten her name) was super nice, just couldnt have asked for a nicer person to take our order. I got the Reddit (love spicy) and opted for extra noodles as well as their house Hot Sauce which was one of the most unique flavors for a hot sauce Id ever had, really nice, I asked if it was something theyd be willing to bottle to sell by itself cause Id have bought it in a heartbeat but no luck (not yet anyway). They also have a small selection of Sushi/Sashimi and and cold drinks like Boba with some interesting flavor combinations.Waiting in anticipation for our Ramen, took about 10 minutes or so, I regret not taking a picture before digging in. Presentation was great, really well constructed. The first thing that caught my eye was how yellow the noodles were which I love. Digging into it, noodles were just the right firmness, soft boiled egg was perfectly cooked, I knew I had found my new favorite place for Ramen.Broth was excellent, spicy but not overly so to overpower the rest of my palette. I highly recommend Busoru to anyone who has a high appreciation for excellent Ramen thats second to none.

REDWHITE BONELESS RAMEN
11044 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
Overall: 4.7/5 (dine in)This place is located right next to a smoke shop. Its a pretty small restaurant with a minimalist design. The food here is all vegan so it blows my mind how tasty everything was. We asked them to do the smoke down for ramen which was pretty cool to experience because you get to take off the top.Their soup ramen comes with soboro (soy meat & tofu), crispy onion, corn, arugula, and alfalfa. I cant believe how amazing this combination work. The only thing that could use some work is the soboro texture. It doesnt resemble ground meat as much as the broth is akin tonkatsu broth.No. 8 Red Hot Miso ($16.95): Delicious and spicy! The broth is full of umami and had so much depth. To think that this could be achieved with vegetables. I talked to the chef who said he believes there needs to be layers to the vegan broth in order to achieve umami. I 100% agree. I ate slowly and literally savored each bite. The noodles were one of the best I had. Perfect texture, bounciness, and taste. I finished the whole bowl but didnt feel heavy or get any uncomfortable bloating. I was so satisfied that I didnt crave anything for days.No. 5 Yuzu Sesame (16.95): How is this flavor even possible??!! Subtle Yuzu flavor but the broth was flavorful enough. Perfectly balanced bowl of heaven.Roasted Miso Avocado ($5.80): This was pretty good but not as amazing as everyone made it out to be.Mac & Beets ($8.80): They give a generous amount of crispy fried onions which is really what gives it flavor. The beet flavor is very subtle. It has the same texture and similar cheese taste as the Kraft boxed Mac & cheese. For the two appetizers, I feel like theyre good to try once but for the ramen, they got me hook-line-and sinker. You have to try this place at least once!
Daichan
11288 Ventura Blvd F, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
This places overrated! The food was okay, but the portions were tiny. The curry udon was okay, and its nothing extraordinary. Musashiya Udon in Westwood carries far superior curry udon. The Chirashi was, again, okay. But there were so few slices of fish as well as so little hijiki rice, which was not fresh at all. A bit disappointing... I thought the Hawaiian chicken was probably the best dish I ordered. The dish, unfortunately, already had soy sauce on the bottom of the plate where the chicken pieces sat on, and I usually dont like too much soy sauce on my food. It should have the sauce on the side, not under, the food. Persimmon tea was a bit different, not sweet and tasteless--I could not taste any persimmon. The most weird or unpleasant experience I had was when the owner lady wanted us to move to another table after we started eating. I told her that I minded but I will move if she insisted. Only then, she apologized and then proceeded to insist that we stay in our table. We were a bit confused, especially in light of the fact that no other large group came into the restaurant and needed our table to be put together with the next table for them. In other words, she did not need us to move, but she asked us to move for no apparent reason. I have never experienced this situation before in any restaurant. After we left, we continued to wonder why we were asked to move to another table. There were plenty of space, and there was no one asking for our table during lunchtime. The parking is valet, which was not attended when we arrived. But when we were inside the restaurant after we parked our car, the valet guy came and demanded $5 from me. Well, I moved the car to a meter adjacent to the parking lot and put 75 cents for 45 minutes. Valet is valid when its manned and valet actually parks the car, no? Otherwise, the sign should say $5 parking, not $5 valet! Just like the posting by the previous person on Google, stay away from this place because the service is horrible for what you pay and what you have to suffer for parking, especially when the food is not exactly that good.
GRANVILLE
12345 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
I would like to leave a detailed review because there are very few places in Los Angeles that I can rate anything other than tears of despair.1. Appearance. Its refreshing to see more establishments with good interior design opening up. This isnt a sign of an expensive place; its a sign of respect for future guests. The desire to take photos and share on social media is a real lever of influence.2. Food. I ordered a side salad and Wagyu beef stroganoff, along with coffee with soy milk and water with lemon. The coffee was very acidic at first and not tasty, and after about 20 minutes, all the milk clumped together. The salad was served in a bowl and it was filled to the brim. Thank you for already mixing the dressing; otherwise, the entire salad would have ended up on the table while I mixed it. The dressing was decent. Considering how bad salads are in regular eateries, this one was quite edible. Now, onto the beef stroganoff. The presentation was good, however. Firstly, Ive never tried this type of meat before, so I really wanted to understand its taste. The meat in the dish was very stewed, so I didnt feel any taste or texture. It was similar to the canned stew I often had as a child with pasta. The pasta in the dish was cooked well, but there was so much oil at the bottom that the pasta and meat were drowning in it. The flavors all mixed together and turned into a mush of pasta and stew. The portion for such a high-calorie dish was large; I couldnt even finish half. The salad helped a lot, refreshing my mouth after all that oil. And the caramelized onions on top were just what the dish needed! Prepared perfectly and complemented the meat well. The service was good, as expected in most quality establishments.
Sushi Katsu-Ya Studio City
11680 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
I returned here tonight after my first visit about 13 years ago.I remember back then, I really havent been exposed much to great food that I really loved the sushi experience here. Returning 13 years later, I would say that I am a fan, but this is not the best sushi in LA.I left their sister restaurant tonight, Kiwami, really close by due to their horrible service. I said to my sister, lets finish our meal at Katsu-ya. So, off we went and drove a few minutes down the road to eat at Katsu-ya.I usually avoid this place because it is always so packed and so Hollywood as celebs dine here such as Gwyneth Paltrow.Prices here are lower than Kiwami and the other fancier Katsu-yas (partnership with Philip Starck and Sam Nazarian). The quality at this original restaurant is said to be better than the other locations.Of course, people have differing viewpoints on the best sushi in LA. Id say the people who havent been around think this is the best sushi in Los Angeles. Ive had conversations that Katsu-ya is at the same rank with the best of them -- Matsuhisa, Nobu, etc.As Ive gotten older and my palate has gotten to be a bit more sophisticated (sorry to sound like a food snob), I prefer my sushi traditional, fresh, and simple. No rolls. No sauces. If you love fusion sushi or sushi with sauce slathered all over it, youll love the Katsu-ya restaurants.I highly recommend taking sushi novices to Katsu-ya. It is much easier on them to eat sushi here because they can order some of their most popular dishes and sushi rolls. You can get simple traditional sushi, but it seems the emphasis here is the popular and fusion dishes.I find that the best sushi places refuse to serve California rolls. This place does. What Ive heard that the best sushi restaurant in LA is Urasawa, which is on a whole different level than the sea of great sushi options we have in the city.
Khao Soi Thai
12215 Ventura Blvd #112, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
Khao Soi Thai is a restaurant that is hard to see on the strip of Ventura Blvd, since its tucked away in an outdoor shopping center. But dont miss it. Its a hidden gem. I say this because their food is really as delicious and as authentic as it gets, like something out of the Sherman Way Thai restaurants and Thai town in Hollywood. I think Ive been here at least 5 times already, and I was always satisfied each time. What do I most recommend? Definitely, their Khao Soi noodles, which is a delicious coconut curry soup with noodles and chicken. Very good. I also loved their shrimp cake balls, their fried chicken, their pad kee mao, the crab fried rice, the pad gra pow over rice, the papaya salad. Theres just too much to name. And you cannot miss out on the mango sticky rice dessert, when it is available in season. Its really one of the best Ive had in a Thai restaurant or as street food.So if youre in Studio City and looking for a great Thai restaurant, come to this place. I can safely say its one of the best restaurants in Studio City, and the ambience is pretty cool here. Nice outdoor and indoor seating, and very reasonably priced. And Nicky was a great help!I shot a Youtube video of my eating experience at Khao Soi Thai, which you can find on my Youtube channel, Rockstar Eater.
Iroha Sushi of Tokyo
12953 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
During this pandemic its pretty hard to try and maintain a fun and exciting weekend life with a significant other or even a nice night out in the town for a fancy dinner, but i appreciate all the businesses trying their best to accommodate with what little we have. With that said Iroha absolutely knocks it out of the park! When I called they werent taking reservations which is understandable, and honestly the wait sucked. Alot. But even after a 1.5-2 hour wait i can absolutely see why people do this.Once seated we were immediately asked for drinks. We ordered a hot sake and a sapporo and some spicy edamame. Drinks came quick and we put in our final order. While enjoying the spicy edamame, which was absolutely delicious and spicy but just the right amount, we had some hot sake which was not too hot but just hot enough chug. The first dish up was the toro tuna and the baked mussels. Ive had toro before and absolutely the best piece of fish Ive ever had and to this day! It was so soft and buttery and melted on your tongue and i just felt like momentarily i was transported to the beach in the middle of the day with a soft breeze blowing on me while walking barefoot on the sand in all white hemp clothing. Now this was my first time trying the baked mussels, which were absolutely delicious and cheesy and for my first time trying will absolutely be ordering them everytime we go! Next up was this love roll with lobster and onion and it was sooo good. The baked crab hand roll was absolutely TOO DIE FORR! A must try for sure. Finally we finished off with the banana-rama with tempura ice cream, another first for me and I was very happy with all my choices. Not a bad pick in the bunch. 10/10 for food.
