Ramen Akimoto
18657 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
Pictured are the Tsukemen and the Jiro Ramen..I think I found my new favorite tsukemen place in SoCal. They have proper thicc and bouncy tsuke noodles to go with a fish forward soup. If you dont like fish, I believe you can opt out of the fish power too. I recommend having the noodles cold so it doesnt continue cooking while waiting for you to dip it into the broth. They also have soup wari so you can dilute the broth to make it more drinkable after you are finished with your noodles. Highly recommend this ramen shop!Akimoto-san trained under the legendary Kazuo Yamagishi at Taishoken in Higashi-Ikebukuro. Ill be back to try the Monday only Jiro-style bowl ?Updated May 2024:I came back to try their Jiro. My order was ninniku/garlic, abura mashi/more back fat, and karame/extra seasoning sauce. I love the texture of the noodles here. Iirc they said that the Jiro noodles were custom made by Myojo. Overall, this was another great bowl ?(psst ig @schw3i for my ramen log)

On entering the restaurant we were not greeted very readily. This should have been my first clue to how the meal would go. When we finally got someones attention they told us we could sit wherever we wanted to so we took the only table that could seat four that was left. It took a little while for the waitress to come get our order but it was busy so that made sense. However while taking our order she got distracted by some locals and left us mid order to go say hi. She didnt come back. I finally had to flag someone down to finish our order. During our visit the couple who was well known there got preferential treatment and were in and out before our table even got all of our food, some of which didnt even come out but was on the ticket anyway. I also had to flag down someone after about fifteen minutes after having been done and sitting there. The only reason Im not giving this one star is that the food was ok, nothing special but not bad.The upshot of this is, if youre a local and have been going here then keep on going but if youre visiting then Id suggest finding somewhere else to eat.
D&D FireArt Chinese Cuisine
20501 Yorba Linda Blvd Spc D3, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
First time at D&D FireArt (after having eaten in this physical location, which was a previous Asian restaurant in the same space, different owners, many times over the years). This place BLOWS THE SOCKS OFF the former tenants food!!! If you used to eat at this location, and havent tried D&D, please do yourself a favor and TRY IT - you wont be disappointed!! (sorry, completely forgot pictures, I was so taken with the food quality!)First up, we eat late, like very close to closing on weeknights, so no problem getting a table immediately. Service is prompt and very friendly. They have an unusual chicken egg drop soup that is very flavorful! Veggie egg rolls are nothing to write home about - standard fare, fresh, hot, but too oily for my liking. Will skip next time. The Mongolian beef was good... not great... beef was a bit chewy, not necessarily overcooked, but just good. The sauce was very good. The sweet-n-sour shrimp - WOW!!! GINORMOUS ( like HUGE), plump, fresh shrimp (largest I think Ive ever seen in a restaurant anywhere), perfectly cooked, smothered in a very flavorful, but not overly sweet (if thats possible) sweet-n-sour sauce, with plenty of pineapple. Just excellent, both quality and flavor! Cant say enough about it.House Special Fried Rice (chicken, shrimp, bbq pork) - very, very good! Definitely NOT your standard strip mall (did I mention this place is a little hole in the wall place in a small strip mall next to Vons... youd likely miss it if you didnt know it was here)... but I digress. ;)Definitely NOT your standard mall or strip mall restaurant fried rice, which is usually regular rice with some soy sauce and other flavoring tossed in, with frozen peas and carrots added. NOT HERE - this is the real deal - fresh, plump chunks of chicken and smaller (regular-sized) shrimp, perfectly scrambled egg, and whatever the mix of seasonings - just perfect!! Although, personal preference, I like my house fried rice to have beef instead of the bbq pork, but I suppose we could request that next time. And no cheap frozen veggies here, just quality, piping hot, well-prepared, tasty ingredients. I literally will have to go in sometime just for the fried rice as a meal!BTW, the family-style dishes are HUGE!!! A small/regular is plenty for 4, maybe 5 people, if a few dishes are ordered. And the large dishes should be called HUGE, more than enough for 5-7 people if sharing a number of dishes!Arrive hungry... you will leave fully satisfied. However, one small blip... did not get to try fried ice cream from the menu, in fact, for some reason, the server said there were NO desserts available? Didnt ask why, the food was so good, we just let it go (and there is a great walk-up ice cream place just a few doors down ;).My only regret is that there are only 2 locations to this advertised chain restaurant, in the entire U.S. that I could find - this one (the newer) and Santa Clarita, CA. At least everyone in these 2 cities and surrounding areas can have the pleasure... its well worth it!
Pokeology
18547 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
I always get excited when I hear about poke joints in YL, but this one didnt live up to the hype for me.I came here because it was relatively new and I wanted to try it out. Im a huge fan of poke bowls, and what really sets different poke restaurants apart from each other really comes down to the toppings that are included with the price you pay and the level of service you receive.* PRICE / PORTION *A regular bowl is $8.95 and a large bowl is $11.75. Regular is 3 scoops of fish vs a large which is 5. I wouldnt recommend getting the large unless youre really hungry or youre splitting it with somebody else.* TOPPINGS *I really like that they give generous portions for each topping, especially the seaweed salad which I have always had to pay for (its free here)! Im slightly disappointed that their avocado topping has gone from being free to an additional charge of $0.49. I also think its strange how they have a huge amount of day-old avocado in a quarter pan when they should have just preserved the freshness of the avocado with some lemons. It looks more appealing that way, in my opinion. The house sauce is alright. I believe its a mixture of soy sauce and peanut oil, which doesnt really send me. Not much of a kick to it but not much flavor other than the peanut either. The sauce truly makes it or breaks it for me, so I would recommend trying out a different sauce than their house special.* SERVICE *The employees are NICE, but nice really doesnt cut it for me. I was very disappointed to see that one of the food service workers had so many strands of hair sticking outside of her ponytail and hat. I thought the purpose of wearing a hat was to keep hair away from the food, so why isnt anyone there to tell her to redo her ponytail? Speaking of anyone there, where was the manager on duty? Or the assistant manager? Or a supervisor? I checked in on Yelp to receive my free miso soup and neither the FSW nor the cashier had any idea about the promotion. Instead, the cashier decided to call his manager on the phone to verify the promotion rather than just honoring it. Cmon, the miso soup was only $1. Im not so much disappointed in not getting the miso soup as I am about there not being any authoritative figure there at all.I hope that they can make improvements with the quality of their service and the presentation of their food/toppings. Maybe then will I return to this location for a second chance.
Mr. Katsu
3165 Yorba Linda Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92831, United States
John, one of owners at Mr. Katsu is a perfectionist when it comes to food because of his passion for good food; so he tries to make sure that customers are happy & satisfied with their food here.Theyre very open to suggestions on their food so feel free to let them know.Katsu Curry (pork cutlet, cole slaw, Japanese curry) 5 starsThis sandwich was a yummy combination of Japanese curry which wasnt spicy at all but instead gave the sandwich a nice creamy curry flavor to compliment the crispy & tasty cutlet.Habanero Pesto (pork cutlet, habanero aoli, pesto, cole slaw) 4 starsthe cutlet was very tasty and complemented the pesto spread that was on top of the buttered & toasted bread. The habanero sauce that was drizzled on gave this sandwich a nice kick at the end that didnt overwhelm the whole taste of the sandwich. The potato puffs (curry & regular) sides that came with this sandwich was delicious crunchiness which you dip into a yummy sauce that makes you want to keep eating more & more of.American Breakfast (pork cutlet, egg over easy, bacon, freedom, and syrup) 4 starsThis is great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or hangovers after a long night of partying. The maple syrups sweetness compliments the slices of bacon & cutlet tying everything together.Overall, I loved this little katsu sandwich shop because you dont find many places that specializes in these particular delicious sandwiches thats enjoyed in Japan.I will definitely come back for more =)
Monarch 9
22755 Savi Ranch Pkwy, Yorba Linda, CA 92887, United States
The feel of this restaurant is as modern as the decor. The parking is close and safe. The staff friendly and fun. In case it is a concern for you - the language is fluent YL/AH English. The wife and I are big fans of pho and we regularly visit Little Saigon for the good stuff. We heard that there is a spot in Savi Ranch slinging noodles and, being purists, we were skeptical.Needlessly skeptical, it turns out. Not only is their pho en pointe, but they also offer a vegan pho option. A delicious vegan option. This is a great place for an intimate date or for an intimate coffee after a date. Or for a coffee date which hopefully leads to an intimate date. Or for a bomb dinner with some authentic noodles and authenticer broth. We found the price a little high or else it would be 5 stars. But what is a star or two between friends. We highly recommend this coffee / noodle shop. They prob serve other stuff, but idk.
Tokyo Central
18171 Imperial Hwy., Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
I've been wanting to stop by and check out @tokyo.central for awhile and I'm glad I had a chance to visit the #yorbalinda location. Such a big selection of Japanese groceries in #socal???????Let's go explore…- A HUGE selection of sushi and sashimi. It was nice to see that they were restocking the sushi area so everything looked fresh and oh so good!- Bento boxes are amazing!- Ramen were ready to go in the food court.- Poke Bowls had big chunks of spicy salmon at a great price.- Most excited for the Tako Sashimi! One of my favorites!!?- Sandwich options for lunch.- So many sweet treats, including skewered Dango.- Wonderful selection of hot food items for lunch and dinner.- So much fresh fish- So many Kimchi options, including cucumber kimchi.- Soup Base for Hot Pot and whatever you need for it.- An amazing selection of Frozen foods, like Pork Bao and Buns.- Wagyu Beef for Shabu Shabu and other meat options.- Their produce department had a great selection and nicely displayed.- So many snack options that looked so yummy. They have all the seasonings, seaweed and sriracha mayo to make your own Poke Bowls at home, which I did stock up on. ?And, so much more to see that would probably take another trip there lol ?
Bristol Farms
18421 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
This is where you go when you want a top tier quality grocery shopping experience. Yes, it is well above average pricing compared to other markets but those who come here know that. This kind of market is not for everyone. I come here because I absolutely appreciate the customer service excellence and quality products they offer. Can always expect it to be clean and organized.I like that I can leisurely shop without big crowds and customers who shop here do not make a mess at the store like you sometimes see at other markets. You know when you see random items left in wrong aisles/sections because customers change their mind and leave them wherever throughout the store? It doesnt happen here. The staff here really do care about your shopping experience. Some items I love to purchase here- Poke in the seafood section by the pound. They offer ahi tuna and salmon poke. Ive tried different supermarket poke offerings and Bristol Farms has the freshest quality. Way better than poke restaurants!- Bakery items. There was this huge hype over the maple pecan danish shared by Chrissy Teigen on social media. I hunted for it and it was sold out at this location! They only make them once per day in the mornings but the bakery staff graciously offered to make fresh ones even though I only wanted to get 1! This made me love coming here more. I got fresh made danishes straight from the oven. It took 30 mins but I didnt mind. I ended up getting 2 after all. Because it was so darn DELICIOUS, I came back the next week and got 4 more!- Deli salads by the pound like the Asian green bean salad and the spinach pasta salad. I like the quality of their made in house deli salads. Some items offered at the Newport Beach location arent offered here but hopefully, it will be soon.- Snacks specifically chips. Not Frito Lays but those odd brands you only see at healthy or premium markets. Sometimes they have promotional pricing and some items that are not available at other stores like Sprouts or Mothers Market.- Frozen food items. They have interesting selection. There is plenty of parkingThey have senior hours from 6:00 - 7:00 amThey take mobile pay i.e. Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and probably Apple PayThey sanitize shopping carts after each useThey require masks to be worn during your visitThere are marked areas for social distancing during check outI wrote too much but I hope it helps whoever makes use of this info!
Costco Wholesale
22633 Savi Ranch Pkwy, Yorba Linda, CA 92887, United States
Favorite place to shop for everything and anything you can think of. Literally bought drapes, super pool noodle, cups for water for the kids next school year (3 for $6.97! WOWWW!!!), and 2 down pillows- all for $50. Unbelievable, really amazing! Did I need any of those things? Absolutely ?. Everything you didnt know you always needed. Right? And their produce, meat, and baked goods are unmatched. I even get my glasses there. Have never found anywhere that comes close to there prices for lenses or frames. Like I said, EVERYTHING!SH*t, get gas while your at it and take an x-large pizza home for ⬇️ $10 while your at it. You could literally never go anywhere else and be just fine. And when the shut-downs from co-vid first happened Costco was literally the only place that had milk, bread, t-p, ect.... Like I said LOVE IT, ***** ALL THE WAY!!
