The Banana Garden
4100 Grafton St, Dublin, CA 94568, United States
Banana Garden Dublin is a restaurant that offers a mix of Asian cuisine, with a focus on Malaysian food. While the food is good, the overall experience of dining at Banana Garden leaves a lot to be desired. The ambiance of the main dining area is lacking, with a somewhat sterile feel that does not add to the dining experience. However, if youre able to snag one of the private areas, the ambiance is much better and more intimate. The staff at Banana Garden Dublin are not very courteous, which can make for an unpleasant dining experience. Its important for restaurant staff to make diners feel welcome and attended to, but unfortunately, that is not the case at Banana Garden. The food itself is definitely the highlight of the restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, all of which are delicious and expertly prepared. However, the prices are a bit on the expensive side, which may be a deterrent for some diners. In summary, while the food at Banana Garden Dublin is definitely worth trying, the overall dining experience leaves something to be desired. If you can get one of the private areas and dont mind the prices, its worth a visit, but otherwise, you may want to consider other options.

Mismanagement of service. Took out the fun of having icecream.Place is open till 10 PM but was told at 9:35 PM that they cannot entertain me and my family as it was past closing time.I actually felt bad and apologized, only to come back and check that the place was open till 10.?Now that I think, we weren't the only ones affected; the family ahead of us also faced a similar situation with an incorrect order, and were pressured to accept despite their concerns.Pity because would have loved to try some flavors and would have bought a lot more ??♀️I was denied the option to try flavors, but hey I at least left with the right order ;) hence “a star”P.S. what's worse is that she seemed to be the owner of the place.

Came for lunch and left quite satisfied. Its also conveniently located nearby the outlets so keep it in mind for a place to eat before/after you shop considering food choices at the outlets are abysmal at best.Everything we ordered was tasty! We began with the marinated cucumbers which were hearty and crisp. Everyone at the table enjoyed them!Next came the beef roll which was pretty good. The flavors of the hoisin sauce with the marinated beef and fresh burst of cilantro just pairs so well together. Although we couldnt taste the burnt bits it was a little awkward watching the chef behind the glass breaking off the burnt bits on the pancake before making it for us. Still, I do appreciate that everything is made to order.Onto the show stoppers - the XLB. I thoroughly enjoyed these juicy bois! The crab one especially had a very nice though subtle seafood flavor. The dumpling skins were remarkably thin, almost transparent on some pieces! The meat inside was tender as if it was braising for hours and the broth was unctuous. Quite the delicious bite!Rounding out our meal were the steamed chives/pork/shrimp dumplings and the pan fried pork buns. Between the two, the dumplings showed more finesse. The skins again were remarkably supple and generously filled with the meat and veggie mixture. The pan fried buns were a little too generous in size. You had to chew through a good amount of bread before you got to the soup and meat inside. The bottom were golden, but not evenly so.Total for lunch for 4 was $70. Cant complain there! However, I will say service (or lack of) was weird. When we walked in, the staff asked how many, sat us, and gave us a tick sheet. After marking it up, they refused to take it and asked us to line up at the register! Why sit us if you consider yourself an order first at the register type of place? Bizarre.
Grand Cafe

Found this place for a family reunion that was mutually convenient for everyone. We had a party of 10 and they seated us at a big round table. They dont take reservations but the wait was only 15 minutes.Food was excellent. We got assorted vegetable dishes, chow fun, congee, tripe, roast pork belly. Peking duck, roast duck over rice. The Peking duck was very similar to the roast duck just sliced in Peking duck style. So not really peking duck.If youre feeling lazy, they have entire Peking duck meals but you have to ask them for the menu.We really like the Japanese fire clay pot tofu.Dont think you can go wrong with ordering a bunch of stuff. Good for sharing with big groups.Overall pretty happy with everything we ordered and everyone was full by the end.Service was super crazy fast. I dont know how they do it. Within 10 minutes of ordering, dishes started coming out one by one.Atmosphere was good.. clean and family friendly.
Happy Lamb Hot Pot Dublin
4068 Grafton St, Dublin, CA 94568, United States
Solid AYCE hotpot place. Not fantastic, but you gotta set your expectations correctly for the east bay. They currently offer the basic menu for $20 (for lunch) and $29 (for dinner), and the premium menu for $36 (both dinner and lunch). We got here on a cold Sunday night around 5:30pm and arrived at the same time as 2 other parties! Shortly afterwards, a huge line formed by the door. So certainly going earlier is better. They have an iPad at the front with Yelp waitlist -- sign your party up there since they seem to go by the waitlist even when the restaurant is not completely full.General info:Tons of parking in the parking lot out front so no need to worry about that. However, this restaurant is not nearly as big as it needs to be, especially in the communal areas where people are getting food (especially because the entrance line ALSO forms around there if its cold out and everyone wants to wait inside). Additionally, stands are put up next to each table to hold their meat, so you have to channel your inner temple run whenever you walk from your table to the self-serve area. Its not terrible, just slightly uncomfortable and you may have to wait a couple minutes to get your items.Service:The service is polite and attentive (they asked us multiple times if we needed meat). Not terribly friendly, but thats not what I need from a hotpot restaurant.Food:We always get the best of both worlds broth selection because we love the spicy broth flavor, but need to balance it out occasionally with the original. The AYCE includes a decent amount of food included some cooked food like fried chicken, egg fried rice, etc. Lots of veggies and mushrooms too, and I love the quail eggs + all the different tofu options. They include marinated garlic beef in that area, so dont waste one of your 3 meat plate orders on that item. The dessert area consisted of sesame balls (quite dry), fried mantou with condensed milk (not bad), and a soft serve ice cream machine with chocolate, mixed, and vanilla flavors. I got the mixed flavor and it was very icy. My husband said the vanilla was creamier. We never got the premium meats so Im not sure how that section pans out, but weve been happy with the meats weve gotten on the basic menu (weve only tried the beef, pork, and lamb). I would not advise getting the special lamb bone for the actual meat, because the meat consists of just whatever tiny flecks of meat didnt come off whenever they cooked it earlier. If youre just getting it to put in your soup for flavor, then go for it!
Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

The only saving grace this visit was the energy and attentiveness of the shift lead, NOT the waitress. Host was not good and our waitress was absolutely awful. Host sat us at table and literally whisked away so fast even though I had a baby with me and needed a booster, idk usually they ask us or something before walking away so fast. Husband went to the restroom and our waitress came up and said hi and just stared at me, had to do a double take and ask are you here for drinks? And she said yes and I said okay lets wait till my husband comes back and I asked for a booster. She comes back a few min later again, doesnt introduce herself at ALL, no idea what her name is. Got our drinks and order done no issue. Food comes out, an expo forgot sides to my husbands plate had to flag someone down to get it fixed. Our server walked by several times after we got our food and did not stop to ask us one time if our food was okay or if we needed anything. Finally I flagged her down for some things. At this point we are just annoyed and looking to leave. My husband flagged down what looked like the manager but he was shift lead and he was excellent by helping us out with our complaints. He brought the server over and introduced her and apologized. Server responded with Im sorry I didnt know I was being so bad at my job. I said its fine asked for boxes and check. She came back with just boxes. Had to flag another person down for the check, at this point Im sure her ego was hurt so she was done with us.Tips to the incompetent server that has zero self awareness apparently: 1) introduce yourself when you get to a table dont just say hi, lead the convo and let us know your name 2) when you see your tables getting food, go check on them and ask how the food is or if they need anything else 3) when you see empty sodas, offer refills 4) if you ever get complained on again, next time dont respond with i didnt know I was so bad at my job sarcastically, say something along the lines of im sorry, I didnt realize there was an issue, how can I help or make things better? Get out of the customer service field if you cant do these very simple things please cause you were awful. Thanks
Chaat Bhavan - Dublin
4112 Grafton St, Dublin, CA 94568, United States
I was at Chaat Bhavan on 7/29 for lunch with my family. We ordered a Thali, 2 Butter Naans, one Gobi Manchurian and a mixed veg kuruma. I am not someone who writes a bad review unless it is absolutely bad, but this one was a night mare.Thali was served with a small tumbler of rice, in which they usually serve curries. When we asked for more rice, they provided another such tumbler. People order Thali inorder to eat rice, and I do not understand giving Thali with such a small quantity of rice in it. And even after checking on it providing such a measly quantity again is absolutely poor service.Gobi Manchurian had cualiflower which was absolutely raw. Somebody needs to tell the chef the Cualiflower that goes into batter for frying is either boiled or steamed or sauteed a bit to get rid of the rawness. Also the manchurian sauce is supposed to be made out of a set of ingredients like soy sauce, tomato sauce, pepper, vinegar, chilli sauce, sugar etc. I understand everything may not be used everywhere, but just tossing the batter fried raw cauliflower florets and bell pepper in tomato sauce is not the way you make Gobi Manchurian.Mixed veg kuruma again had the uncooked Cauliflower. I couldnt find any other veggies in it although it was supposed to be mixed veg kuruma. My dad said he managed to find some potatoes and carrot slices in it, seems it was his lucky day. That curry was charged $14.99, atleast add some veggies worth $1 in it.Last but not the least, youre running something like a fine dining restaurant. Atleast print the bill and provide to the customer. I was shown the bill on a credit card machine, and asked to enter the tip and tap the card on the machine(and tap didnt even function). Atleast provide the bill to the customers so that they can check the items and write the tip based on the service without being judged.I am not sure if all the reviews are genuine about this restaurant. But there is a lot of scope for improvement about food being served, service and overall operation. Hope the owner sees this review and work on these comments.

Dont go here. Manager was very rude and disrespectful and Racist towards my friend and I. I called on the phone to ask if they took payment on the phone. I was told yes by the cashier as they also do togo order. Then when we got there we further asked again if someone else could call to make a payment over the phone after our meal, again cashier said yes. After eating I called my Agent who was treating my friend and I for dinner to make the payment and the cashier said ok hold on. He then went to call the so called manager who now came and told us they dont take payments over the phone. I asked but we were told this was fine. Cashier Apologized right in front of this manager that he misunderstood and it was his fault.. manager then turns to me, ignoring his worker and said that doesnt matter and they wont take the payment over the phone as my Agency was waiting on phone to give the information card for payment. She even said what if I send ID which matches with the card, again he said no. I asked this wasnt my fault, i asked multiple times and i was told this was fine before we sat to eat. He further got very rude and said no. My agency then apologized and hung up while I kept going back and forth with this heartless racist manager. After I told him i had no other way to pay, he then said ok Ill take the payment. This was one hour later. By then the agency had closed and wasnt picking up anymore for the night. He got even meaner and was very unprofessional, even though he could have taken the payment before while they were ready to make the payment but refused and lied that the system would not take it if he tried . but then all of a sudden he could now take this payment ?? He further continued to embarrass my friend and I by being violent, rude and threatening to call the police now even though he was the aggressor which I told him to please go ahead !! (He obviously thought i would be afraid of police because were black)My friend then decided to pay for the food to calm the situation and we left. It was our first time in San Jose and this man ruined our night and trip. That was our first and last time at this restaurant . Do not waste your money. Such an awful way to treat a customer. Terrible customer service.PSI got a response basically dismissing the situation and trying to make excuses for the bad behavior from this business. saying there is no discrimination, but we definitely experienced discrimination with that staff!!! it was clear and definitely personal. He was loud, rude, and did everything to escalate the situation to embarrass us. There is no reason for any staff, especially a manager should be allowed to treat customers this way and work there and all you can do is make excuses for them. He never even apologized for them giving the wrong information twice! He dismissed it and said he didnt care!! Managers shouldnt act this way. Their job should be trying to make customers have a great experience not making sure they loose their business
Tasty Pot

My go to place on cold and rainy days. Always order the Lamb Hot Pot or Stinky Tofu Pot, portion is very reasonable. Have to share if you order the large Taiwanese spicy hot pot. If you like to drink hotpot soup, go with the non-spicy version, and ask them to add soup during the meal. Their bone soup is pretty nice.It may sound surprising but in my opinion they also offer the best popcorn chicken and Takoyaki in town! These two items are only available for dine in menu, so you really should come in and give it a try. Also, I'm glad to find they have started a new option Tepanyaki Rice this week. If you want something other than hotpot, it is also a great option. The dish comes on a sizzling hot pan, with rice, beef, garlic butter (I think) and sauce. Simply mix them and you get a very flavorful rice dish. Again, portion is great, may have to share with others if you are not extremely hungry. Personally I prefer the black pepper flavor, but kids may be more interested in the other teriyaki flavor.

Two words: Bread Bar! They have a little unlimited bread bar near the soda machines and it is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in a little old Italian casual restaurant. I feel like Olive Garden should start doing this! It just makes sense. They had 3 or 4 types of bread, olive oil and balsamic on the tables, and plenty of butter. The service here is pretty good, its very casual, you order when you first walk in and set yourself, plenty of room in the dining room. Staff did come to check on us a few times and our food arrived quickly. For a quick stop off the freeway when your driving home from SF in your friends Tesla that needs a charge, this is a great little place. Walking distance from Tesla charging station. The food was okay, I enjoyed my soup and my friends said their pasta was good, they took home leftovers. And the bread bar---we were all delighted by it. I wouldnt mind coming back and trying some of the pasta. Its not fancy, but it is a pleasant little place.
