Lobster West La Jolla
1237 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
Some girlfriends and I visited Lobster West La Jolla because the restaurant has such high ratings. Its right in the heart of a great area for shopping, dining, and just feeling a cool breeze from the beach (at least from this Texans point of view). Let me just say the lobster roll and the crab roll were dynamically the best Ive ever had. The bread alone was a toasted buttery delight that made me dance on the inside at how great it tasted. After one spoon of the lobster bisque, I was physically dancing in my chair enticed by the burst of flavor and the music from the restaurant speakers :)Rated at the top of my list of things I love about Lobster West La Jolla is the customer service. When placing my order, I was greeted with a smile by the cashier. He provided genuine small talk and patiently waited for us to make our food choice even after answering the same questions several times. I was even more impressed by another gentleman who worked there who checked on us from time to time to make sure everything was to our standards. Ill admit I probably paid more attention to him than I should have but in the few moments that I spoke with him, he carried such a warming spirit I was drawn in by his positive energy. Simplistically handsome, I observed him checking on guests, chatting with staff, and maintaining the overall presence of the establishment. Jokingly, he even calmed my nerves when I inquired about a local beach area that made headlines concerning seals chasing some overzealous tourists. I really wished we could have talked more ?Nonetheless, folks you gotta try Lobster West La Jolla out. Its reasonably priced, fulfilling, and holds a relaxing atmosphere. You wont be disappointed!

Smallgoods Cheese Shop & Cafe
7524 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
I dont know where to start. We went for coffee, iced coffee in particular. The woman was rude to my wife who asked for additional options (caramel with her macchiato) being that there arent many options for coffee. The coffee shop has 0 capabilities of presenting an iced drink other than an iced coffee. Ask for an iced latte? You get half of a plastic cup for 4.00. 4 dollars for a half of a cup. Im sorry, I know Starbucks isnt the greatest coffee in the world, but when youre competing against corporate coffee companies, your prices and presentations of the product need to be on point. As a hot drink I can understand why a macchiato doesnt fill the cup. But as an iced drink you either need to fill up the plastic cup youre presenting it in or order a smaller cup so that it looks full. Lastly, a business should NEVER use the products of another company. You need to promote your own business on your own products. You should never have some other name on your cups because 1. That looks terrible and 2. You are essentially marketing another business! Literally the dumbest thing you can possibly do. End note, the coffee is nothing special, Ill pay an extra 95 cents to go to Starbucks before I ever go there again for coffee.

Trader Joes
8657 Villa La Jolla Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
***UPDATED** R E V I E WTHIS IS A FANTASTIC TRADER JOES. I would say that in my experience this is the best trader Joes in San diego. However I go to a lot of them and I have gone to a lot of them and they are all good for different reasons. This location is consistent, and they were the best and greatest leader during covid with masking and ensuring safety. I really respect that and other locations did well but this one was the best run store in town in that regardTrader Joes is amazing and I respect their model. They have a fair markup and high quality. You can go back and ask for a replacement or what have you. They have a basic no nonsense approach.I really appreciate the power Trader Joes gives me to buy portions that work well for one person or many and the more I get to know the products the more I see that theres a real appreciation for healthy quality food as well as many shorter term prepared and frozen foods that may not be as healthy but that will be delicious. The service here is good, trader Joes sells massive amounts of local flowers around the country and I feel like they have a fair markup. They certainly earn that.I really appreciate being able to purchase my groceries from Trader Joes and I get basically everything from Trader joes, generally.Trader Joes offers the important food staples and usually an organic or non-organic version. Lately I have been using the lotions and more of the home products. I have also gathered input and they seem to be well respected products. Some products have bad oils so you really have to distinguish the unhealthy but delicious items from the nutritious and often delicious basic foods.I just feel like they have products that really fit the bill and whenever I find out a new thing that I want they seem to have it its very well thought out.Im going to have to recommend this Trader Joes and of course Trader Joes, in general, is an outstanding chain. This is a great Trader Joes and there are many all over San Diego.I recommend them all, however small or would have you, including Pacific Beach, and Encinitas, definitely.ORIGINAL REVIEW.Always nice people working there. Trader Joes has a lot of products that arent offered elsewhere that are good quality. Obviously they have all of their own Brands, but Trader Joes is a very good staple for living. Also they have a great beer selection and desserts and treats if you need to bring anything to a party or a potluck. Etc. A wide variety of delicious and often healthy items.

Eddie Vs Prime Seafood
1270 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. I must say they have excellent service and good food (Id still put Mastros a bit ahead) Usually good food comes with small portions but not with Eddie Vs. Usually us consumer are afraid that if a restaurant serves big portions usually the taste and food quality becomes compromise, again Eddie Vs proved us wrong. They have this humongous mash potatoes and crab fried rice that are both excellent. Now, my wife and I didnt get to try any meat, we figure since they claim that they have a prime seafood then we went with their pescatarian menu and they were delish. I got a Chilean Sea bass although I still have to put Roys CS ahead from Eddie Vs when it comes on how my sea bass taste. Now you may ask why 4 stars? If I had such an excellent experience, why not make it a 5? Well Ive got two reasons:(1) Although our server Kevin is great, several hosts at the front are not really accommodating. They dont really make you feel special. We arrived and they just told us to wait and when we left they dont even say goodbye and ask you hows everything. They were just chitchatting amongst themselves. Now you might think that hey isnt that asking a little bit much or someone might say arent you a little too much before you go up to your high white horse and act all perfect... allow me to explain... Lets not beat around the bush and you guys know how real I am so lets be real.. This is a fancy place. You choose this fancy place to celebrate a special occasion. So isnt it too much to ask to feel a bit special just for two hours? And Im not asking for them to treat us royals. No Im not Lorde or some kind of celebrity. I aint asking for free stuff either, all Im asking is a little professionalism and courtesy. Make you feel welcome and them reminding you that hey, we got you! This is your special day. For example weve been to Mastros and Flemings, from the Host to the Servers they are all very friendly, warm and welcoming. From the time we arrive and we leave they make us feel that we are wanted there. Thats what lacks here on Eddie Vs. Hopefully they train the host to be more congenital.(2) When we sat down theres already a cocktail shrimp on the table. We believe that its the restaurants courtesy for our special occasion. However at the end of the dinner we noticed that the shrimp was charged in our bill. I didnt even say anything, I just paid for it since I enjoyed it anyway. But lets say that they encountered someone thats not me. Someone that would say Hey I didnt order that. We thought it was a give away. Then yes thats not really a classy move from you Eddie. You should have not put a food there and make it seem that its free and then expect people to pay. I rather have the table with no food and know that whatever I ordered is what Im going to pay. I do appreciate the rose petals on the table though!Oh well, I hope that we are the last people that would experience these two issues, because over all, this place has good food, good view and excellent service. On the other hand I do hope that Eddie Vs would improve and resolve those issues though.Would I recommend it to others? Yes! Would I recommend them to come here on their special occasion? Absolutely not. Would I come back here sometime in the near future? Hmmm... I rather find explore some place else first.

Shiku
1277 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
I liked the interior of this restaurant a lot because of the giant windows that replaced the walls of the front part of it; I prefer restaurants that are well-lit over darker ones. The service was amazing and the waitresses that serviced our table were kind and welcoming, with good information to share when we had questions about this particular area that we were new to. Getting to the food, my family and I enjoyed it very much. The shrimp tempura udon had high quality noodles with a tasty soup base. The bento box had a delightful variety of side dishes in them as well. I wish that the fried foods were crunchier because the layer was thin, but they did well on not making it greasy. The sauce that they gave us to use for the fried foods could have been more savory because it was hard to really taste it and I had to dunk my food in it. Overall, I took pleasure in the entirety of it and would eat here again.

Lupi Italian Restaurant
5518 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
I was kinda shocked by my experience at Lupi Italian, after reading all the high praise for them on Google and Yelp. I’m not sure if it was an off night or what, but the food was legitimately awful. My family came here for Mother’s Day. We ordered calamari, lasagna, gnocchi, veal, and pizza. The lasagna was basically a soup, the veal was a complete mess (looked like slop), and the pizza, while it had prosciutto, was incredibly salty. The calamari and gnocchi were tolerable, though the tomato sauce was a bit sour.I hate to say, but I’d give this place 1 star if it wasn’t for the great service and hospitality from staff and management. Their attentiveness and pep is the one (almost) saving grace of this restaurant.

Bistro Pazzo
7930 Ivanhoe Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
We traveled to this bistro based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. My kids are foodies and they were raving. We had the minestrone soup, theRigatoni ai 4 Formaggi, the spaghetti with clams and the limoncello dessert. All was wonderful! Service was great. And the restaurant was very clean. We will definately be back. Just a great authentic Italian meal.

Chefs Cafe
10911 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
Excellent cafe in the Torrey Pines Science Park.Food is cooked fresh to order, except for the daily Hot Entree Specials.f youre coming here during your lunch, dont forget to text your order ahead of time, as It can take a bit for the order to be made because its fresh! The daily specials are ready by 11:00 am, and are always great! They arent cooked to order, though.Id recommend the breakfast croissant with tomato and mustard, an excellent combination that gets your day started right! The flatbread pizzas are great as well! The pizza dough is stretched and baked when you order it, so expect to wait 20 minutes for the pizza. Definitely worth it!

Green Door Cafe
7644 Girard Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
Nice vegan restaurant in La Jolla. We visited this place in a Sunday afternoon for lunch while we were in La Jolla. We were one of the first groups there, and were asked to pick any table we liked, and order food at the counter once we were ready (the host/ server handed us a couple of menus). We order the Bomb Burger, the Pesto Panini (which came with a cup of the soup of the day, which was Tomato Basil), a glass of Cranberry Kombucha and a Detoxer juice.Service was fairly slow as there were only 2 folks running the cafe as it was Christmas Eve (service would have been likely better on other days). All the food we ordered was great: (1) the Bomb Burger had a non Impossible burger patty that was made using fresh vegetables and served with a vegan chipotle aioli (2) the Pesto Panini, similarly, had vegan chipotle aioli and vegan pesto sauce. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the food was seasoned well.Would definitely come here again if I was in the area.
