Panera Bread
2900 Cochran St, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
I absolutely love Paneras food and I have never had a bad experience in any location, except for the one located closest to me in Simi Valley. Initially, everything was great, but the management of this location is just abysmal! My family and I would order take out frequently, but then there were repeating incidences with this location: 1) They frequently do not pick up the phone when you call to order out (and this happens almost every single time I call), 2) They have run out of some food item you would like to order (this is especially true of the soups), 3) The wait time in the store is awful, and, my favorite, 4) They run out of bread with great frequency. If your restaurant has bread in the title (Panera Bread), you should never, ever run out of the very thing you are touting about your restaurant. If this just happened once or twice, I wouldnt care, but I have had several incidences in just the past month where I called to order, and just canceled in frustration and decided on an alternate food course. Someone needs to wake up at the Simi Valley location!

Urbane Cafe
2091 Madera Rd, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
If youre looking for a healthy sandwich then this is the place to go. My only surprise was the potion size of the sandwich, I thought I would get more but to me it was about half a sandwich. I seen this Urbane Cafe for a while since I usually go to The Habit next door but I wanted to try something different. So I put in my order online for the Club Sandwich. When I got to the place, there was plenty of parking during lunch time especially now that they allow outdoor dining. I was able to walk in and my order was already at the take out rack. A employee acknowledge me when I walked in and just handed me my order. I enjoyed my sandwich, I had some ranch dressing in the office so I added that to my sandwich to add some extra flavor. The side salad was alright but it wasnt my favorite.

Herb and spice Thai cuisine

The food was great, but the service was pathetic. I was given a gift card for Herb and Spice Thai. The gift card was paid for and issued at the restaurant and was given to me by a friend. I had forgotten I had the card until I discovered it in my dresser drawer. So I took my wife to eat there. When I arrived, I present the gift card and asked for the card balance. I was told that the balance would not be determined until my bill was presented at the end of the meal. We ordered and enjoyed the food. The bill was presented in the amount of $47.19. I handed them the gift card to pay. A few minutes later, I was told that the card balance had been $50.00, but that it had expired.I questioned their process since the card was issued at their restaurant. They had been paid the $50.00 when the card was purchased but refused to honor it because it had expired. I told them there was no expiration date on the card. I had no alternative but to pay the bill. Sadly, they made money when the card was purchased and then again when I had to pay for the meal. They had great food, but if this is the way the restaurant operates, they don't deserve my business. I plan to never eat their again.
Betos Wine and Grill
2521 Sycamore Dr, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
Dont Be Fooled by Strip Malls: Betos Wine & Grill Delivers a Christmas Eve to RememberForget charming piazzas and Tuscan vineyards – sometimes, the magic of Christmas Eve can be found tucked away in a humble strip mall. Case in point: Betos Wine & Grill. Dont let the unassuming exterior fool you; behind those glass doors lies a hidden gem that transformed our Christmas Eve into a starlit night of epicurean delight. From the moment we stepped inside, the aroma of garlic, basil, and slow-simmered sauces worked its magic, transporting us to a cozy trattoria in the heart of Rome. The twinkle of fairy lights adorned exposed brick walls, while classic Italian tunes played softly in the background, creating an atmosphere both festive and intimate. Our server, greeted us with a warmth that rivaled the wood-fired oven, instantly putting us at ease. He wasnt just a waiter; he was our guide through an Italian culinary adventure. The set menu was a testament to Betos culinary prowess. Each course was a masterpiece, bursting with fresh, seasonal ingredients and cooked to perfection. The antipasti was a vibrant tapestry of cured meats, marinated vegetables, and plump, sun-dried tomatoes, each bite a tiny explosion of flavor. The pasta, oh, the pasta! Handmade, silky-smooth gnocchi bathed in a creamy pesto sauce, and delicate ravioli filled with the essence of autumn pumpkin, left us speechless (and reaching for extra bread). The main course was a difficult choice: a melt-in-your-mouth branzino bathed in lemon and white wine, or a succulent ossobuco so tender it fell off the bone. We (wisely) opted to share, a decision that led to shared plates, contented sighs, and whispered pronouncements of best Christmas meal ever. But Betos magic extended beyond the plate. Attentive service, the genuine smiles of the staff, the gentle chatter of fellow diners – all these threads wove together a tapestry of Christmas Eve warmth. By the time we reached the decadent dessert, we werent just customers; we were guests at a family feast, surrounded by joy and laughter.Leaving Betos that night, we carried with us not just the lingering taste of garlic and rosemary, but the warmth of a truly special Christmas Eve. It was a night that proved that culinary magic can bloom even in strip malls, that genuine hospitality transcends location, and that sometimes, the best Christmas memories are made in the most unexpected places. So, if youre looking for a Christmas Eve unlike any other, an experience that will linger on your palate and warm your heart long after the last bite, dont let the strip mall exterior fool you. Seek out Betos Wine & Grill. Its a five-star gem waiting to be discovered, a testament to the fact that sometimes, the greatest treasures are hidden in plain sight. Buon appetito, and Buon Natale!
Thai Noodles
2090 First St, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
We stopped by here on the way home from a day trip. It has been difficult finding an good Thai restaurant in LA. This place was pretty good. They have a couple 2 top tables outside and lots of indoor seating though the atmosphere is basic strip mall. Bathroom was clean as was the restaurant. We ordered the Basil Eggplant with ground pork, Chicken Pad Kee Mow and Chicken Satay. Everything was well prepared and seemed cooked, prepared and put together with care. The Satay was good. Thin nicely cooked chicken skewers. The peanut dipping sauce was thick and really tasty and the little onion, cucumber/bitter melon side dish had a bite. The flavor of the basil eggplant was delicious and texture of the eggplant was perfect. The white rice was perfectly cooked. Serving size was good for 2 people. The Pad Kee Mow(Drunken noodles) was a little under sauced and seemed to have the wrong noodles. Taste was very good and the toppings plentiful. I asked for a chili pot to spice things up a bit. The chili paste and spiced vinegar in it was an awesome addition. Our server was attentive even though we were outdoors but not overly attentive. Their menus seemed to have been printed in a printer that was running out of ink so the pictured food was not really attractive. Check out their website. Its better. It seems like a nice small family run business. Would recommend and would go again if in the area.
118 Cafe
5726 E Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
Lots and lots and lots of options for everyone. My family and I wanted to check it out because we heard there were some good vegan/plant-based options. We went for dessert so we could scope the place out for a future visit, in which we plan to get a meal. We got smoothies (the blueberry, strawberry, strawberry & banana, and Pina colada). We ordered boba with them and my kids and husband and I all loved it! Weve been to several boba places in town and this was one of our faves. But after seeing their menu, we look forward to coming here to eat soon. Its not listed on this menu that I took home with me, but on their board in the restaurant they have a vegan bacon croissant! I totally want to try that!Im not sure if it would be a good place for my kids to dine in though. Its smaller and more intimate inside and Id feel bad if the kids were loud and disturbed the other patrons. But we will definitely order out in the near future.
Izakaya Sushi K
5708 E Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
Hands Down the Best Sushi in SimiThe most pristine, delicious, generous sushi I have ever had in Simi Valley is at Izakaya Sushi K. Not only do they consistently serve the freshest fish I have experienced, they provide incredibly substantial portions as well. Everything I have ever ordered is made artistically pleasing and every bite is satisfying.I ordered the Lunch Combo for $17.95 this past week and it was beyond amazing. You get two abundant perfectly made rolls and miso soup. I chose the Hot Night Roll which has tempura shrimp with amazing tasting real crab meat and cucumber inside with avocado and spicy tuna outside, and drizzled in eel sauce. My other choice was the Hawaiian Roll which has spicy tuna and cucumber inside with tuna and avocado on the outside, drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo. They were incredible. They set the bar so high that nothing compares. I like to tip them well because they deserve to be recognized for being so exceptional. Not only is the food impeccable, they have the kindest, most genuinely gracious and friendly owners.I rarely take time to post reviews, however, they really should be acknowledged for all that they are and their impeccable food. It is the one sushi restaurant I can honestly say I have never had a disappointing experience with. I am looking forward to my next visit and many more after that.Update: Last two pictures are the Superman burrito from today. Completely and generously stuffed full of of deliciousness. The best one Ive had, because its just so fresh. Also priced better than places like Poke Bowl, and Poke Stop, not at such a higher quality. I absolutely recommend!
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
40 Presidential Dr, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
Recently visited again for the 3rd time this year!Visit this place and be reminded of a time when the office of the President of the United States was an office that was respected, revered, and a place of integrity, discipline, and honor... Be you Republican, Democrat, or independent. This amazing place allows you to experience a masterfully curated multisensory journey through time showcasing one of our most prolific American presidents and leadership icons. A man and president who was far from perfect, and far from the mythical figure many of my fellow Republican friends believed him to be.But he was everything we needed him to be when we needed it most... A true leader that set in motion decades of American prosperity without alienating us from the rest of the worlds nations... this prosperity came from uniting us with many of the countries around the world, and through that unity, brought about the end of the Cold War... among many other world altering events of the time. For me, this library did an outstanding job showcasing the man, not the myth...a man whose lifes story is so much greater than just the 8 years he spent in office, and it was a rare treat to learn about him and Nancy from the perspective of just being real people, living real lives. One of the first exibits in the main hall is a series of three hand written essays hed done in school that recounted events in his life that affected him so profoundly, that they subconsciously charted his lifes course. Two were about his foot ball playing and how working as a team made him greater than the sum of his parts, and the third told about the fear and elation hed experienced in a freak storm that hit him as he rowed a canoe over a lake. Characteristically, this showed within him the value he held in the input of those around him and spoke to his sense of fearlessly succeeding where others feared to tread. He was most certainly one of a kind, and most certainly a President whos actions and deeds inspired a new generation to greatness and personified the America of the 1980s.The true heart of this place was in learning about Ronald Reagans full, colorful, and robust life! A life full of overcoming all the obstacles placed in his path, and never shying away from reinvention at a time in American history when heros were born, not invented on Instagram from thin air, and the American dream was possible for all those who worked hard enough for it. It was a true look - back to a time when we as Americans looked up to our presidents as bastions of morality... integrity...guidance...and hope, not just because they held the highest office in the land but because they were heroes that earned it through hard work, perseverance, and a warriors spirit.Me, the naive kid who watched Reagan lead a nation through eight years of speeches on TV, being only 3 when he was first elected, and just 11 years old when he left office, I whole heartedly believed in him...trusted him... and looked up to him as both a great man and an even greater US president. As I grew older and more educated, I learned truths about him and all politicians that Id never known, nor could even comprehend as an impressionable child. These truths took much of the guilding from my perception of President Reagan, but none from Ronald Reagan, the man. Visiting his library made me wish for the return of a president built from the same stuff as him; a man of integrity who valued the MANY, far more than he did the ONE... while also providing a spectacular view of the valley as I stepped back in time to the 80s, and relieved many of the world shattering events of that time. The tour made me acutely aware that no other man but Reagan could have navigated this great country through all of it!Our 40th President was destined from childhood to serve this country, not by chance, but by perseverance, hard work, and by grabbing destiny with both hands and holding on tight. His library shares his and Nancys story with the world and serves as a place to inspire all who step through its doors!
