Panera Bread
1189 E Arques Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94085, United States
I was only slightly hungry and asked if they had small sandwiches at Panera Bread on Arques. The cashier order taker suggested a kid’s sandwich, which ended up being the prefect size for my appetite that lunch time. The sandwich was simple and OK. I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup – the broth was tasty, the noodles were OK, but the chicken was overcooked and unenjoyable. I suggest the manager make a concerted effort to improve the chicken in the soup. The cashier order taker was helpful.I was there 12:30-1:15 lunchtime. Panera Bread has two rooms and both were mostly full. I was impressed how quiet the restaurant was. Either the customers were talking softly or the restaurant has excellent soundproofing or both. There is plenty of free street-level parking in the huge one-level mall.

Lopez Taqueria 3
808 W El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, United States
Lopez Taqueria in Sunnyvale next to Popeye’s opened recently. It is a small restaurant with 10 tables indoors and none outdoors. When I was there for noon lunch, 3 tables had customers but they had a lot of takeout business. The problem was the temperature inside was very cold. Outdoors was 52F. Indoors must have been about 65F so the other customers were eating with their winter coats on. The problem is that cold air cools off hot food. I urge the Lopez owner or manager to require that the temperature be set to 70 or 71 or 72 degrees whenever the place is open so the food stays hot and customers can take off their coats.I ordered two tacos, rice, and water. The tacos were tasty. The rice was plain, as is expected. The meal included a small amount of chips and salsa. The salsa was different than most restaurants but I preferred it, although the portion was too tiny.Customers order at the front cashier and the food is brought to one’s table. The cashier was cordial. I like that the electronic menu is brightly lit and easy to read. There is plenty of free street level parking in the outdoor strip mall in front of the restaurant. If I knew that the restaurant would be warm inside, I would return and try the very large beef soup, which the cashier said was their best soup and cost about $20, I think.
Hunan House
122 S Sunnyvale Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, United States
This might be hands down one of the best Hunanese restaurants in the Bay Area! The stinky tofu really surprised me - the sauce and the pickles that went with it was just spot on! Also try out the Dong An chicken soup.

Trader Joes
316 W El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, United States
In general, today afternoon my boyfriend and I has been charged twice ($97.31 on his and my bank account). The total of our purchase is $97.31. My boyfriend used Apple Pay and the process was slow. The cashier said the process is slow, should take a while. Then, he told us the payment is unsuccessful. Therefore, I used my Apple Pay. This time the transaction went through. Everything was good until my boyfriend told me his bank notification, which he was charged from Trader Joes. I decided to go back and ask the cashier. The cashier called someone else. I dont know his name. I guess he is the manager. My boyfriend told him they charged us twice. He told us to call our bank. They cannot do anything. I felt really confused. You charged us twice and asked me to solve the issue. The part I felt the most uncomfortable was that when I asked him about this issue and show him our bank transactions on our phone, he said Same account. Whats your point? to me very rude. I want to declare my point here. The fact is you charged our twice. My boyfriend and I have two different accounts. I dont know why he assumed we used same account on two different phones. I felt really uncomfortable and discriminated. I hope Trader Joes can take this seriously. Does he only treat us in this manner or he will also be rude to other customers?
Dish n Dash
736 N Mathilda Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94085, United States
My favorite place to get dinner when Im in Sunnyvale. So much flavor!!! Next time Ill get some photos. Love the salad with roasted vegetable topping. Tasty sides: lentil soup, baba ghanoush, hummus. The sauces are excellent! If you dont need to eat GF, the salad is topped with zaatar chips that my husband says are very good. My family likes the meat dishes. This is primarily a to-go restaurant but there are enough tables to eat in.
MEGA MART
760 E El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, United States
Clean, non smelly, previously K Market seems to have encouraged Hankook Market to clean up its aisles and presentation. Baby friendly bathroom and water fountain are not things you usually see at Asian/ethnic markets around here.Mega Mart feels like a Mexican Mercado and Korean Hmart had a baby. They also sell Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. snacks.Would recommend for their candy, snack foods mostly. As always, check expiration dates. They also have a selection of Korean sheet masks and other asian brand cosmetics and feminine hygiene pads (cute cat brand). For produce and other perishables for Korean cooking, while it isnt anywhere near as good as L.A. or Korea, we prefer Hankook Market further down the road.Produce wasnt particularly fresh, and prepared food was pretty terrible for supermarket fare, dont recommend unless you think 7eleven, Nijiyas prepared food is tasty. Gimbap rice was unforgivably wet and mushy.Fried squid was dried rehydrated squid with too much pepper (후추가루), and chicken wings had freezer burn, dry leathery. Some baked goods may look cute, but ratio of cream vs pastry is too much for us. Giant (누네띠네)puff pastry wasnt bad, but didnt taste fresh baked. You should melt your own sugar and add baking soda instead of buying the dalgona (달고나). Fried croquettes and donuts looked less greasy than Paris Baguettes, but not fresh.Rice cakes are pretty much the same as any Korean market (made by same two rice cake factories/bakeries).Gave the much lauded uji time ice cream a try and was disappointed in zero lychee flavor or aroma. It just tasted like a generic soft serve ice cream, very fluffy and milky.Staff was all Mexican, including people prepping food. Tried asking staff if they take fried chicken orders (answer is no), got passed on to three staff before finally someone came out to assist me. Their English was as limited as my Spanish, so if you need assistance, you must speak Spanish.
The Gurkha Kitchen
1342 S Mary Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, United States
The Gurkha Kitchen is a Himalayan/Nepalese restaurant. Lying between India and China, Nepalese cuisine borrows and improves upon the cuisine of both its neighbors. The food was very good! We got two kinds of dumplings, called momo. One was vegetarian, spicy and hot, with excellent flavor=Veg C Momo . The stuffing was Indian, and the sauce reminiscent of Szechuan. The other momo was called chicken johl momo. It is stuffed with chicken in Indian spices and served in a broth. It was spicy, but not hot. Also, quite good. The third dish was machha ko johl, a fish filet, deep-fried with a spicy curry sauce. The fourth was a thali, a plate with a main dish of curried goat. (Tastes like lamb, but not as gamey.) It had several small side dishes-black lentil soup, a bamboo shoot soup, a stir-fried, then chilled, mustard-green salad, and steamed rice.It was an excellent meal. My only wish would be that the waiter ask how spicy/hot we wanted the food served. We would have liked for the dishes (except the 1st momo) to be more spicy.
