Thai Chili Cuisine
1550 Halford Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
We had a fantastic family holiday dinner at this Thai chili cuisine located in the Santa Clara Sunnyvale border just off Lawrence expressway exit in El Camino Real. There is plenty of parking. Being a vegetarian, this restaurant has plenty of options to make the dishes the vegetarian way with substitutes. The menu has a plethora of options from noodles, rice, curries and soups. Most of them can be made vegetarian by substituting the meats with tofu. We ordered the yellow and panang curry both of which came with sumptuous amount of vegetables. For the starter, we ordered Roti that was served with peanut and yellow sauce. The spicy crispy tofu wasnt spicy it all. In fact, it has a mix of sweet taste. None of the dishes had fish or oyster sauce which usually other Thai restaurants add in vegetarian dishes. For the kids, we ordered the house fried rice. The waiter was comfortable enough to ask us how much spicy level we needed for each dish. Throughout the dinner service, the entire restaurant had a happy vibe and all employees had a smile everytime. The interior is decorated with Thai decor and items that typically speak of Thai history. The whole ambience is great. With great service and delicious food, this place is a way to go.

On taste/flavor:Not authentic thai, but I guess its okay for the tourists and those who are trying new flavors. But for those of you who have been to Thailand or Thaitown in L.A. You may be disappointed.Note the other reviews. On service:Im ashamed for my cultural heritage!I was first so happy to had found a Thai Restaurant ran by Thai people. My 1st. visit was on Friday July 30th. I picked up an order to go after work. Which was such a pleasant experience, I even gave a $5 tip for a $17 Basil Beef Fried Rice!I decided to return for a dine in experience on Sunday July 1st. and try the Beef Noodle Soup plus order a Green Curry Beef, and Fried Fish Cakes to go (still excited about my 1st. visit).Upon my arrival, the waitress gave me a head gesture which conveyed a what do you want? in what would be considered RUDE to any average customer manner. No, not hello or welcome...but a head gesture in ganster-style!Still remembering my 1st. impression from Friday, I chose to sit down and waited for my Noodle Soup. This Soup is traditionally served with condiments sauces...which the waitress sharply said we dont have it.So, I asked for at least some hot sauce so I can proceed to taste what I consider to be a basic & common dish that would give me a clear indication of their flavor-authenticity of Thais food. While eating the soup, I heard a spoon or some silverware dropped to the floor. As I looked toward the sound, I saw the waitress picking up the dropped item and placed it back on the serving tray that she was bringing out to another customer!A few minutes later, another customer requested additional bottle of bear and said thank you to the waitress...who replied with okay.I am originally from Thailand, which Im proud to know that the country is known as The Land of the Smiles.Courteous and polite are normal traits thats ingrained and obvious among most Thais that Ive crossed path with, even in other countries. In closing this review, I would not recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone unless theyre familiar with the typical French-restaurant-atmesphere.But as a Thai-Born U.S. Grown man....Im out!!???

I rarely leave negative reviews but this store really pissed me off.I walked in in 10:35pm and therere still long line to wait. I definitely understand so I waited in line and ordered. I waited in store for my drink for like 20 minutes after the guy ordered before me got his drink I asked is my drink ready.I totally understand its busy in store but there attitude is horrible, the person found they probably got my drink wrong and let me ask the person I ordered with. Then they started argue in language I dont familiar with and no one explains or apologize to me for such a long wait and it was their fault to made the wrong drink. In few seconds they had someones order ready, they decided to let me grab mine first. The person was mean and slapped on my drink. In the end, they dont even care about my feelings but keep arguing in their own language. I walked out the store and it was 11pm for one bubble tea.Id say the taste of the tea is ok but a big zero on service. This is the first time and the last time I visit this store.

Amazing food with even more amazing service.FoodThey serve a variety of Vietnamese-inspired, wok- stir fried entree which are always so fresh tasting because I can tell that they are cooked often and in small batches. You pick your protein, sides, etc. the garlic beef was very flavorful and hearty. The Brussels sprouts and green beans are also very good for veggie sides. The Vietnamese sandwich was also very tasty. The roast pork was not overly sweet, the veggies were crisp and the bread was perfectly warm and crunchy ( it does take a little time to prepare but worth the wait)The chicken wings has a reasonable amount of coat but very crunchy. It has a nice, light, garlicky glaze and a little spice. They also have this habanero sauce thats so addicting. Trust me, your gonna want to put that _______ on everything. Make sure to stack up on beverage.ServiceAs amazing as the food is, what really strikes me about this place are the staff. Ive been here 4 times and each time Ive come, Ive felt like Ive checked in at a 5 star hotel. Shout out to Manny and the other two girls which I, unfortunately, did not catch their names. The staff are very knowledgeable of what they serve and have a very, genuine and hospitable personality they are very accommodating even when they are very busy.LocationThe place is a bit small with also couple of tables outside. I never had trouble finding a table though. The place is very clean and well kept. The parking is not bad either.Im hooked and will definitely be a regular here. Thanks Blurr kitchen.

SA BY THAI Restaurant

We ordered take out on a Friday night. We got the Roasted Duck Curry, Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, and Catfish Dern Dong.Service: I was not impressed with the service. I called and placed my order 2 hours before I planned to pick it up. I arrived 15 minutes after the time I requested it to be ready, and still had to wait 15 minutes until my order was ready. However, I will recognize that they were only missing the appetizer and the 15 minutes I was waiting was for them to cook that appetizer. The food was hot when I got it, so I can assume they had the rest ready at the right time. Additionally, I noticed that they only had one person bustling at the front, and a help wanted sign, so Ill also assume they were a bit short of hands. Given the circumstances, being a little late isnt unreasonable, and I was not in a hurry, so it didnt upset me. But overall, I still will say the service was not impressive.Taste: I am not an expert on Thai food. I cannot say whether or not it was authentic. For me, I think the food was pretty good. However, my parents noted that the duck was tough and not fresh. (I personally dont know duck well enough to tell. It tasted like meat to me.) The catfish was good. Our spice tolerance is low, but we were just barely able to tolerate it.Cost: Compared to the amount of food we got, we dont think the cost was worth it. Our 4 orders totaled $62. The duck and catfish dish had little meat and did not compensate for the lack of meat with veggies. Most of it was curry.Overall: We did not feel like the restaurant was bad. However, it is just not for me and my family. Its unlikely we would come here again.

Burma Bistro

First time having Burmese food. Was planning to hit the pho house in the same plaza but Burma Bistro looked enticing.TLDRFirst time here, food is legit, look at pictures from your favorite find me food app for pictures to get a better idea of what you may be interested in.Not too busy on a Friday night, we were seated fairly quickly and staff were friendly and patient with us as they tended to the multiple delivery drivers coming to pick up ordersYellow Tofu / Yellow Pea FrittersThe physical menu lists it as yellow Tofu but the online ordering menu lists it as yellow pea. Regardless, this was a nice starter, the home made chili sauce pairs very nicely with the crispy but light yellow rectangles. The inside strikes me as more of yellow pea than a tofu so some clarification is necessary but not that important. These were good, I would recommend them, and would order them again.Chicken Dan Bawk (boneless)This dish was quite nice! Aromatic rice accented with yellow raisins, cashews, a perhaps fried shallots I think. Chicken was thigh meat and was cooked perfectly.Veggie CurryAssorted veggies and lentils in a light and thin curry sauce. Would have liked a sprinkle of some kosher salt to bring out the curry a little more but overall it provided nicely cooked veggies to a protein and starch rich meal.Ginger lemonadeI never would have imagined a hint of ginger would elevate a simple glass of lemonade to another level. This works and it works amazingly well. The ginger provided a nice spicy refreshing after taste from the usual lemonade everyone is used to. Could have used a touch more sweetness in my opinion but the ginger was perfect.

Excellent food, portion sizes and prices! After trying out a few so-called highly rated places, I have concluded that nothing beats the taste, quality and value for money here! Dined in a few times and the service has been good. And prompt friendly response on phone too, when ordering for pickup. They even advised me once that pickup may be difficult due to an event at Levis stadium and the ensuing traffic delays! And surely it took about an hour from there to North 1st street then! But the food was worth the effort! The vegetarian option of Panang curry is amazing, and the sticky mango rice is out of this world! 2 things that one must try here!It has always been a delight to eat Thai food from Bistro Siam for the last year or so since a friend recommended it.. Please keep up the good work!

CHECK YOUR BILL, THEY OVERCHARGE AND INSIST TIPS.They have very good fried egg rolls. I love it. Their sate noodle is a disaster, a terrible sauce mix with peanut sauce that I cannot finish the food. Their crunchy fried noodle is average. The space is spacious. The waiters are gentle and kind and serve quickly. But I cannot stand the cashier lady. When we said we want to split the bill (because we are a group of friends) she was so unhappy. I want to check the bill to see how much and she said they dont give bill.WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANTS THAT DO NOT GIVE YOU BILL TO CHECK THE MONEY? I insisted to see the bill and she gave me my friends card receipt after they paid, a credit card receipt, which is not a bill. I came back home and checked and realized she overcharged us 10 USD for a meal. And then she raised her voice at my friend and asked : NO TIP? NO TIP? and then she bump the jar on the table to make noise and embarrassed them. I was upset with that impolite action so I told her that no we dont tip.I dont mind about tipping but I dont tip over harassment.

Chicken Meets Rice

Came in here for dinner on a whim. I had seen chicken and rice restaurants around and Im starting to feel like this is becoming a thing for easy small restaurants. Was impressed by how simple the menu was with what looked like three options for rice and two or three options for chicken protein. Reminded me of what McDonalds used to be and what In-N-Out Burger is today with not many options which tends to mean youre really good at the few things that you do. I opted for the panko chicken as I am not a fan of boiled chicken in general. In retrospect I probably should have gone for the boiled chicken which I believe is boiled in onions and a salt brine which may have been a better experience as that seems to be a classic chicken and rice dish. The chicken I had was not memorable in flavor and was not special in any way from other similar types of chickens Ive had from other restaurants. There wasnt anything wrong with it there just wasnt anything particular. In addition to your meal you also get a cup of their broth which you pour yourself on a side table as well as a selection of different dipping sauces and spices for you with your chicken. I tried a couple and didnt find one that matched the chicken I was eating which may be part of the reason why my experience was not significantly great. In retrospect I probably should have tried a sweet sauce of some sort vs. The garlic and saucy versions that I had chosen for myself. For my rice option I tried the chicken rice which is a flavored rice. That also didnt really pack a punch to my taste buds so it was sort of lost in the whole experience of the meal. Because I dont frequent this type of food often this is just my initial thoughts on a first-run. I wouldnt mind trying this place again or another similar place but this one did not leave an impression with me.

Beastea

Holy mother of portions.Discovered this little hidden gem while I was on a date with someone nearby and we were looking for a place to grab dessert. Since then, I think Beastea has become a go-to for good food and boba, and the fact theyre open until 10pm is a huge plus. They also offer wifi for those who want to come to work or study while enjoying their drinks. I would frequently come here with another friend for our study sessions since no other boba place with food would be open as late around the area. The place is Viet-owned and the auntie who takes orders (I think shes also the owner of the place?) is very kind and accommodating towards customers. I think she recognized that we were frequent patrons during on of our study sessions and once offered me and my friend free samples of panda waffles. That was super sweet. They tend to take on the longer side to make drinks, but its not too big of a deal for me personally since their drinks are always very consistent and tasty. They have a MASSIVE collection of specialty drinks, which is amazing given the small scale of the shop, and is maybe one of the few places I found around South Bay that offers a mangonada drink. I am a huge fan of their assorted fruit drinks - but I do agree with the other reviewers that they lean on the sweeter side. 50% sweetness and regular ice seems to be the perfect sweet spot for these drinks. Their boba is a bit on the chewier side, but very nicely cooked and seasoned. Aside from their fruit teas, I would also recommend the Ube Latte - which has a nice subtle hint of ube. My friend also really enjoyed their Mangonada and Strawberry Shortcake drinks. In terms of snacks, really generous portion that is pretty much unrivaled anywhere else given the price. Their popcorn chicken is enough to stuff you for dinner if youre hungry enough (and perfect enough to satisfy 2 people), and their fries portion can probably last you a few meals if you split them up. I really like that they leave the fried basil leaves in the popcorn chicken, which adds to the nicely spiced flavor. I have also tried their sweet potato fries (another favorite) and their fishball snacks (also good!), which were all well-seasoned. The only snack I tried that I wasnt a fan of was the calamari, which tasted slightly undercooked at the time and the batter wasnt crunchy enough to my liking. Maybe that was just a one-off.Was very stoked to find them on Uber Eats, since now I can finally enjoy their offerings from home.
