Barn Thai
921 E Duane Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94085, United States
Very unassuming storefront, I just about walked in to Metro City Sports Bar & Grill by mistake and my co-worker had to steer me over to the Barn Thai entrance. Fairly plain interior, our server was so nice and laughed at our corny and barely funny jokes.Only 2 of us on Tuesday nite, seated immediately, only one other couple at the time. We ordered the Crispy Thai fried wings, the roasted duck curry and the shrimp & fish curry, with hot jasmine tea. Barely a 10 min wait and we were served. The aroma of the dishes was so intoxicating (maybe the fact that were famished made it better ?). Wings came first so we attacked them - they were crispy outside, very hot to the touch and only a hint of spiciness. I think it could have used more spiciness/heat, but they were tasty not overcooked and 6 wings for the 2 of us guys seemed not enough. However with the rest of the dinner, it really was just right. We shared the duck and fish/shrimp curries. The duck curry was very sweet (a little too sweet for my taste) and I think that overpowered the curry flavor. It was very good, savory but just too sweet. The duck had nice roasted taste, although I think it was just a bit overcooked, it wasnt tough, just slightly overcooked. I would order it again and request for less sugar and more curry (cuz I like the flavor). My coworker said he liked it just fine.?He must have more of a sweet tooth than me.The fish & shrimp curry had more of a curry flavor, the shrimp looked ? really good, but I couldnt eat it ? due to my gout. The fish was a non descript white fish (maybe some type of cod) and definitely NOT overcooked and very tasty. I thought the sauce was too salty, probably could cut it by 50% for my taste (then again, my diet has less salt and any dish my wife and I do not prepare ourselves is a little too salty for me).Great dinner, terrific companion and fun and friendly service - we will go back.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday and the ordering kiosks reminded me of the way McDonalds has it set up. Lots of dim sum favorites to order, including an option to just get a dozen of each. Each of the entree options has a bunch of ways you can order it - with noodles or rice, different types of noodles, plenty of modifications. The modifications might have been the reason it was so slow though. Although we didnt modify anything, the meals took 20 minutes before we got one of the two, and then the other came about 5 minutes later. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, so it wasnt an issue of order volume. The food came and it was...alright. we ordered duck noodle soup and the curry leg/thigh combo. The meals themselves were very scattered, the soup was akin to a ramen soup with pieces of duck on a plate on the side. The curry was a Singaporean style curry, but one bowl held the meat, and the other had broccoli, carrots, and a tiny bit of rice. It was like we had ordered two or three different dishes that came together, and not a full meal.Taste wise things were ok, but the flavor profile felt pretty toned down. It was like the flavors we expected were there, but they made them in a La Croix style where we got the essence of flavor, and not the full taste of it. We also got an iced coffee that could have been taken from Dunkin - which could be s good or and thing pending your opinion on Dunkin coffee haha. But it wasnt a Vietnamese style iced coffee for sure.Overall the place was decent, and a lot of people might enjoy it. The space is large enough to fit bigger parties and has its own parking lot - just expect to wait for your food.

Phos okay, nothing mind blowing. I usually get something with egg noodles if I want soup. Chicken or seafood its pretty good. Now the killer, plates that theyve got are the bun. Vermicelli without soup. Try the chicken with shrimp or just the chicken, either #35 or #37. Itll be like a party in your mouth with rich flavors. For everyone that gave this a bad review, try one of these and I guarantee you opinion will change. Ill put up with crappy service to have good food anytime. Just go in there with that expectation.

Ive been putting this off in hopes of change. Ive been coming to this location for over 10 years and it has been going downhill more and more every year. It use to be my go to once or twice a week, so it pains me to leave this review. When you dine in the food is great. Service is not great. The waitresses are unwelcoming and always behind the counter on their phones. They will only come to your table to drop off menus, take your order, and if you ordered a beverage its not coming till your food comes. Yet they expect a tip...Theyre probably family members who are guaranteed the position so they dont put forth any effort or concern with diners. The food is good IF you are dining in. If you are getting it delivered be prepared for scraps. Literally. For a bowl of pho they will give you old meat that smells off and is tough, a bowl of broken noodles that are all less than an inch long, old bean sprout. All of this stuff seems to be from the day before. Maybe its to save money, but they need to stop doing this. Theyre going to get someone sick one day. The first time this happened I thought it was just a mistake, but no. After about 8 delivery orders I now realize that they serve the freshest stuff to the inhouse diners and give the leftovers to pickup and delivery customers. Theyve even taken the mint out of the spring rolls.I really wish they would up their standards again as they have greatly slipped.?‍??

Thai Spoons

A neighborhood place that seems to do a lot of takeouts, which I later realized why - the service is terrible! It is a small and inexpensive neighborhood place so I am not expecting Michelin star service. But I have seen bigger restaurants with the same number of staff make do by being organized. I went 30 minutes before closing on a Tuesday night, it took them a while to clean the vacant tables and get me seated with a menu. Then it took forever for someone to take my order; I would have walked out if I werent hungry and everywhere else was closing. My water never came, and I had to ask for it again when they delivered my food. Then they realized I didnt have a fork and napkin. Isnt it all done backwards? Most restaurants would set your table up with napkin and cutlery before seating you down with a menu. And bring you water while checking to see if youd like any other beverage. The drinks would also arrive before your food comes. Anyway, I wasnt the only one frustrated with the slow service, Two tables around me rustled impatiently as they waited to get the check and to-go boxes. The waiter kept apologizing to them. They are just all over the place, and there is no good reason as it is a small restaurant! I will return, but only to do takeout, as the food is actually quite tasty, but the service is worse than pathetic. You will need to have the patience of a saint, or just have all the time in the world. Not a place to have a quick meal.

Honestly the service was nice the lady that took our order and serve us the food was nice . It's only family owned so I love the fact they're all their helping their mom which I think the owner . Tbh the sisig was mid like 3/5 I'm very picky when comes to sisig I like flavorful bc it's one of a Filipino staple dish . My bf had the chicken silog which contains sunny side up eggs, egg fried rice and deep fried chicken wings . The pancit canton I like it was like Chinese style which was delicious with veggies, shrimp and chicken . The lumpia was delicious too .I tried for my drink was the manis con yellow it's ok .The place is just more just a lil run down but it's ok to dine in and enjoy a meal . Definitely will come back see what other items to try it was cheap and affordable. Only costed $56 for all this food . I think some things are better than others so definitely check out yelp and look at the popular items on what to get .

While on a business trip to Santa Clara, the hotel didnt have a washing machine, so I searched on Google and found a laundromat. It is equipped with a number of washing machines and dryers suitable for large and small use. When I first came here, I asked the staff how to use it, and they very kindly told me how to use it. Credit cards and quarter coins are all accepted and the price is affordable. And free wifi is available so you dont have to wait long. There is also ample parking in front. For long-term travelers or business travelers who need to do laundry, this is the best choice ^^I came on a business trip to Santa Clara and found a laundromat that I searched Google because there was no washing machine in the hotel. Title: A Vegetarian Haven in the Heart of SunnyvaleRating: ★★★★★ (5/5)I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Merit Vegetarian Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This culinary oasis in the heart of Silicon Valley delivers an impressive range of sumptuous vegetarian and vegan fare that does not compromise on flavor, creativity, or satisfaction.First and foremost, the Pad Thai is a must-try. This dish, a classic staple of Thai cuisine, has been masterfully recreated to suit a plant-based diet without losing any of the traditional zest or flair. The tangle of noodles was cooked to perfection, beautifully interspersed with an assortment of colorful, crunchy vegetables. Tossed in a tangy tamarind sauce that balanced sweet, sour, and umami notes, it was garnished with crushed peanuts adding a delightful crunch and depth to the overall flavor profile. The Vermicelli Curry Soup was another revelation. The soup, a hearty amalgam of vibrant spices, was comforting and packed a robust flavor punch. The vermicelli was delicate, offering a contrast to the powerful curry broth. The complexity of flavors built with each mouthful, warming and surprising the palate in equal measure. It was the perfect amalgamation of spices, textures, and warmth. Finally, the Papaya Salad served as a fresh, zingy contrast to the other dishes. It was a riot of flavors and textures: the crunch of the shredded unripe papaya, the tanginess of the lime, and the mild heat from the chili combined to create an explosion of flavors in the mouth. It was vibrant, refreshing, and the perfect palate cleanser. One cannot review Merit Vegetarian without mentioning the warm and hospitable staff. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a suggestion and ensuring we were comfortable throughout our dining experience. In conclusion, Merit Vegetarian is a true gem in Sunnyvales culinary scene, a sanctuary for vegetarians and vegans alike, and a tantalizing surprise for meat-eaters. It is a place where you can discover that vegetarian cuisine can be hearty, delicious, and leaves you fully satiated. Whether youre a long-time vegetarian or just curious about plant-based cuisine, Merit Vegetarian is definitely worth a visit.

Burma Taste
124 S Murphy Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, United States
WORST service by the MANAGER. My previous review about the service getting progressively worse was correct. My friends and I arrived for dinner at 9:04 pm before the kitchen closed (at 9:10 pm) and ordered quickly. We werent told we needed to have left by 9:30 (or if we were we didnt hear it) - giving us at most 10-15 min to eat once the food came out. At 9:45 pm the manager/owner (not sure which) began flashing the lights on and off then shut everything off so it was pitch dark. He then proceeded to yell at us to get out. Now Ive worked in restaurants before and typically we wait for customers to wrap up, especially if it looks like theyre nearly done which we were - we already were packing up our to go boxes. This jolted us as we thought it was quite a rude way to kick us out. After we left (at 9:47 pm) he proceeded to follow us outside and start an argument about how we were incredibly inconsiderate people and began mocking and imitating our responses like a 3 year old! Im simply appalled by this deplorable behavior towards customers as the delay itself wasnt that egregious. The worst part is had we known 9.30 pm was a hard cutoff we would have tried to eat even faster! But to be treated like this in response is shameful on his part, even if he was just having a bad day. There are wonderful reviews of this place on here, I hope your experiences are better than ours and I hope that man finds peace, but certainly be mindful of interacting with that manager. They dont seem to fundamentally care about their customers. I hope that changes.
