A Ri Rang Tofu House
529 E Valley Blvd #128, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Originally wanted to go to Jazz Cat, but the line was incredibly long - we headed over to A Ri Rang Tofu House instead: warm food, good banchan, no wait definitely made for a pretty good meal.Service isnt the greatest here as the workers all seem super busy and barely have a second to pause by the table as you request for more banchan. But we were immediately seated and able to order within a few minutes, which meant that food came out of the kitchen in about 10-15 minutes. Not bad at all!All my friends and I ordered the combination tofu soup except for one friend who got the chicken broth instead. We also had an order of galbi ribs to share. Banchan was pretty impressive - I really like seaweed, so I was super happy that A Ri Rang served an unlimited amount of the tangy seaweed sidedish. They also had kimchi, broccoli, beansprouts, potato, tofu, and pickled spicy cucumbers. And of course the salad. All of the side dishes really got our stomachs ready for the tofu soup and galbi.Combination beef and seafood soup was not too bad. Each of my friends ordered a different spiciness level (I had mild, one had medium, another ordered hot). I preferred my mild the most as I could really taste the soup flavor. With the spicy soups, I really couldnt taste much of the soup - overall, not too bad. I think Young Dong gives a bit more seafood and other ingredients in their soup, but I liked the overall flavor enough. Cant complain. As for the galbi - it was a bit on the smaller side considering the price. I think we were only given like 5-6 pieces, which really isnt worth the price point. The taste of the meat was good! But the portion size is pretty lacking. My friends chicken broth was a winner. Very natural - perfect if youre feeling under the weather, want something warm, or want something healthy. Had the entire chicken in the broth as well as lots of green onions, ginger, and other ingredients. Tasted perfect on a chilly night.Located in Sunny Plaza - parking isnt too tough to find.tl;dr - Overall, Im glad I got to try A Ri Rang. Its a pretty decent tofu house, but I think I prefer Young Dong to this. Side dishes were good, and they do give you rice in a stone pot - I really like digging into the sides of the pot for the crunchy rice. Would come back again if I was in the area.
Young Dong Tofu House
927 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Young Dong is a solid standard Korean Tofu joint, overall a 3.5. Its a good Korean Tofu place to eat at if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth traveling across town for. The restaurant is located near San Gabriel and Las Tunas in the same shopping center as 168 Market, Sam Woo, and ORiley Auto Parts. The environment is casual, loud, family-oriented, and no frills. Service is meh. The food came out within a reasonable time and they are friendly but indifferent. You will have to flag down someone for a refill of water or banchan. The restaurant is small-to-moderately sized and gets jammed packed. Even on a Friday night at about 10PM, there were only a few tables open. Seating is also cramped if you dont snag a booth. Some of the tables are essentially the dreaded community seating. In general, the food is tasty, prepared well, and good value.Spicy pork + Tofu: $18.99 and BBQ beef + Tofu: $18.99:The meat comes out on the standard sizzling plates and had good flavor. The meat, however, wasnt the best of quality but satisfying nonetheless. The banchan had good variety and was pungent and tasty. The kimchee and pancake were standouts in particular.
Ko Hyang Tofu House

I know this restaurant does not have high ratings but I feel it isa pretty good eatery. One of my young guests is a meat-and-potatoes type person, so Korean BBQ is really out of her comfort zone. We ordered a non-spicy grilled chicken over grilled onion dish for her and it is a huge hit. She had it over rice and took leftover home. I say it was a success! Hubby and I had seafood and silken tofu in a bowl of soup. Both dishes came piping hot, just the way we like.

Meet You BBQ

I found Meet You BBQ on Yelp by searching late night eats in San Gabriel area at midnight. They closed at 2am. We got there at 12:45am. Last call on ordering is at 1am. Yes, just made it!Meet U BBQ has a variety of meats on skewers, seafood, fried rice, and more. It was the perfect place to eat for late night because who doesnt like meat on skewers, cold beer and good music. Its self ordering after scanning the QR code on the table. Staff is super friendly and told us to help ourselves with snacks. The complimentary self-serve snacks station have random items like roasted peanuts, sweet & sour chicken feet, sesame balls, wonton noodles, watermelons, orange slices and more. They were all interestingly delicious individually. Very generous!I think they used the same seasoning for everything but the meat brings out the flavors slightly different. We had the chicken wings, pork, beef, chicken gizzard, and chicken skewers. The chicken wings was the best! Packed with flavors and cooked to perfection! The Grilled Oyster and Scallops with glass noodles on shell was so good. It was garlicky and savory. The baby clam was too spicy for me but addictingly good.Service was quick - could also be we were one of three customers/tables left before closing. Well be back again the next time in LA.
Potato Noodle
288 S San Gabriel Blvd #102, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Before coming to this potato noodle shop: What's the difference between cooking it at home? After coming to this potato noodle shop: It is indeed a little bit delicious, and the chicken rack is really amazing to me⭐️Potato casserole: To be honest, the soup base is similar to that of Tian Xiaohua in the supermarket, and the side dishes are far less realistic than those made at home. However, the potato flour is obviously more delicious than the one in the supermarket. It tastes better and is more chewy. It is indeed a handmade flour. Potato flour is more delicious than noodles. It is recommended to order all potato flour. The meatballs are a demerit point as they are cut into small pieces and taste like starch balls. I suggest the store omit the meatballs and put more vegetables?⭐️qq chicken rack: This chicken rack is really amazing! The portion is huge, the texture of the meat is really chewy, and it doesn't feel dry at all. The taste is on the sweet side, and it feels like it would be great with wine! Personally, I think it's the best chicken rack I've ever eaten in LA.
Hot pot & BBQ
United States, California, San Gabriel, E Valley Blvd, 邮政编码: 91776
Casual, clean, simple. Not crowded. Grab your own dishes except for special orders. Mom pop shop. Choice of 3 different broth per table. AYCE hot pot (bbq coming 4/2024) diner $35.99-43.99 with senior discounts for 65+ older, and 80+ older. Family owned restaurant. They are from Pairs with family in 626.I wouldnt think too much over it. Unsure if others would think of too highly but I added the extra star due to having hot pot ingredients I personally like and dont see at many other ayce hot pot places.Combo B includes a couple items. Oysters are limited to 2 per person (previously frozen).+The wagyu beef and HUGE PRAWNS might be worth it. I think the prawns are ayce!+ Up to 3 broths per table pot is nice. Control the heat yourself from the side.+ Appetizers like cold cucumber pieces, shredded potatoes, to spicy pig ears is a really nice touch for me.+ This place offers the hot pot staple ingredients, and different non-meat items compared to other places. I like the chestnuts, lotus roots, different tofu, seaweed knots, etc.Current alcohol offered if corona and Budweiser due to new liquor license situation. Fyi, bbq isnt available until 5 months from now. There is no happy hour.
Love at the Curb
301 W Valley Blvd Ste. #112, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
This new hotpot restaurant tastes really delicious, especially the new pear hotpot. The spicy taste has the sweetness of pear. The most important thing is that you can't get too hot in the summer. The newly arrived iced osmanthus wine is sweet and has a floral aroma, which is suitable for girls, but there are Great staying power! Halfway through the meal, I realized that I forgot to take a photo. I loved their golden little bowl, Maocai Naohua, and their A5 Japanese Wagyu beef. Although the presentation was not fancy, it did not affect its taste. It was so fresh and tender in the mouth. The smooth texture and butter-flavored bottom of the pot are really refreshing. Our whole family is a hot pot lover!
Yama Seafood LA
911 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91775, United States
This place is a dream and a gem disguised as a hole in the wall independent seafood market. Its been my best kept secret of where I can get my better than restaurant sushi grade quality fish. Now, this place doesnt make rainbow rolls and different types of rolls etc. The only rolls you will see ate the simple seaweed wrapped mini rice n salmon rolls, cucumber rolls, avocado rolls and tuna rolls. They also have some cooked fish mini rolls etc. All wrapped by seaweed on the outside. Lots of items from Japan and items you would find at an Asian Supermarket or regular grocery store IF youre lucky. California Rolls? Lets just say theyre quite large more than avg and sell out in MINUTES. All rolls are never by customer order. Its only what they have available and put out.Now lets get to the star of this; the sushi grade fish. There is a LONG LINE. EVERY DAY. 100% WORTH THE WAIT. The avg. wait time is around 8 min per person in line. If there are people in front of you expect to wait at least an hour. It is only done by one expert and no one else. The other 2 gentleman are there assisting in either making fresh sushi rice, making rolls for the deli case and/ or helping keep the area sanitized. Now the fish; Ranging from different country region of Salmon (e.g., Scottish, Norwegian, etc.) Blue Fin Tuna, Ahi Tuna, Yellow Tail, etc. There are different sized portions behind the glass counter (picture a deli). You pick which portions of which kinds and the kind Ser will ask if you want them sliced as they will be wrapped with a lemon slice and a serving of wasabi. The cashier will put a lil mini bag of ice on top of each fresh serve to keep it fresh before you get home.My best advice is to arrive early as opening time of 11am. Place closes at 7pm except that at least by 3pm all rolls are sold out and hopefully the latest by 5pm sold out. Fish is served till closing. You will wait and theres nothing that can be done to speed things up. Show any disrespect and you will get a lot of silence and glares from the respectful community. Show respect and patience, as you will be served when your turn is up. They have sushi ware dishes, sake cups, bottles. This place does honest pricing more than a restaurant would. Only difference is you wont get fancy rolls here. Just real sushi grade quality seafood. Its the #1 place to go to if you plan on making your own rolls. Guaranteed. Its super jam packed busy. Every day. Good luck!
Golden Deli San Gabriel
815 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
It is safe to say that Golden Deli is the most authentic and delicious Vietnamese food I have ever had the pleasure of trying.Came here with a few buddies on a Saturday around 3pm and was able to be seated after 10-15 minutes. If you wait until later, expect to wait in long lines.Once you sit down, they tend to you immediately and they'll keep checking on you at least 5-10 times throughout your meal which I appreciate in a busy place like this where you constantly want to add more and more to your order and refill your drinks! We went all out and started with a few appetizers of egg rolls, multiple bowls of pho, and dinner plate entrees. The egg rolls are different than any I've had prior. They are giant rolls that are blistered on the outside to keep it super crispy on the outside, but soft and flavorful on the inside. They are so addicting we had 3 orders of them. It is highly recommended that you wrap with mint leaves and the lettuce they give you and dip it in your small bowl of broth with carrots. You will NOT be disappointed if you do so!The shrimp paste had me hesitant because of the word “paste” but it is nothing like that. The best way I can describe is is ground shrimp cooked in oil and formed to perfection. The #89B dinner plate was just as fantastic. It comes with egg rolls, shrimp paste, and grilled beef. Lots of good flavor, highly recommend adding some of the side sauces they provide at the table to fit your liking. The Pho we had was the icing on the cake. I enjoy having a nice broth or a soup at the end of a meal to “fill the cracks” lol. The broth was extremely flavorful and not too salty and the meat was tender and delicious. Add chili oil to it as you please if you like a little more kick.I have absolutely no complaints when it comes to this spot. I highly recommend to anyone who loves or wants to try authentic Vietnamese food!
Ducks Restaurant
1381 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Ducks is my favorite family owned Japanese restaurant. I loved it since the original owners in my college time and now passed down to their daughter. Both of my kids love their curry and udon. Their udon (lunch and dinner set) only comes with two pieces of tofu skin and soup, but its been our favorite udon and soup base. Their fried food (from fried fish cake to the fried chicken in their Oyakodon) is no doubt the best in the area. While its crispy on the outside, it remains tender and juicy on the inside. Ive tried Oyakodon and Katsudon from many places and most of them were soggy with the sauce.
