Ikes Love & Sandwiches
1333 Powell St a105, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
This place is wonderful for sandwiches! They have great service and fresh ingredients. I get the Sneaky Kitty with vegetarian bacon, vegan cheese and the vegan dirty sauce on Dutch crunch bread. Their menu in the restaurant has lots of choices and there are even more on the website. They are always quick to let me know the bacon is vegetarian and not vegan when I order my sandwich. They even pop a little lollipop in the bag as a treat. Ive been here many times since they opened in Emeryville and each time the service and food was very good. Love that kind of consistency.
C CASA Emeryville
Public Market, 5959 Shellmound St, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
I gave this place a great review in the past but my experience today was terrible. My order was missing a brownie, two salsas, and an extra order of tortillas that I paid for. When my brother in law went to pick up the order, the employees almost didnt give him the mexican cokes that we ordered. He had to remind the employees. After we got back to the hotel, I checked my order and noticed the missing items. The man I spoke to on the phone (Juan) basically was arguing with me and insisting that he put the items in the bag and refused to give me a partial refund but that I can drive all the way back down there(30 minutes away) to pick up the items that they didnt include. Why would I waste my time calling or bother scamming someone out of 8 dollars worth of food? I just want what I paid for. I WAS a repeat customer and now I am never going here again.
Rudys Cant Fail Cafe
4081 Hollis St, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
I feel like Rudys is riding on some wave of former popularity and hasnt othered to keep up/improve with the times. Used to be. Youd walk in at any given time, be it 4pm or 10am and the place would be relatively busy, the vibe fun. We walked in the other evening after running errands at East Bay Bridge shopping area down the road and decided to grab dinner since it was so close, and we havent been in years. The staff was absent when we walked in, never a good sign. Two miserable looking patrons were dining solo and the place had a chill to it. The food we ordered was so mediocre- granted I usually came here for breakfast, but the food was just poor. My veggie barley soup was mostly celery and onions. My kids turkey sandwich was pathetic, with dry turkey, dried up looking cheddar, and really dry bread despite a thin smear of mayo, our side order of veggies was swimming in a pool of the water they boiled them in. My husband felt so bad for her, he gave up half his BLT to her so she would actually eat something.Sorry Rudys, your establishment is no longer a place we would consider returning to. I was surprised to hear of your Telegraph Ave location shuttering, but now its evident what happened to cause its demise.

Simurgh Bakery & Cafe

I go there often but this time it made me say never again. We ordered menemen and turkish breakfast. After waiting a while, we received menemen and there was a hair inside of menemen. After they brought turkish platter which everything was ice cold especially soujouk. It was like a joke i brought everything back and the waitress refund us the money back. The only pleasant encounter was the waitress she was overwhelmed since she was the only one working at a crowded on a busy Saturday right before mothers day. She was so calm and i was sad for her too since she had to deal with all these people. I came to here for breakfast 17 miles away. Question to owners if you know that it is a busy weekend why didnt you plan accordingly and come to help for those poor associates. Never again everytime i cane here the food quality drops more and more!!! I dont recommend at allUpdate: We got charged twice from the cafe instead of a refund i called to speak with the owner the owner mentioned that she sees only one charge and the second charge is a refund but there was 2 charges on my end. The manner i received from the owner as a customer is shocking. First of all she was kept saying they are all humans at the end so mistakes can happen which is understandable. Yes mistakes happens but this is not the way that you should respond. First of all instead of accusing me as a liar and telling me that you will check cameras for the hair in the food, you should be apologetic instead it is not item being cold or service failure its food safety standard hazard hair in the food. I can easily afford 14 dollar dish my own and i dont need to lie on this. So yoi are more than welcome to check cameras and please apologize from me after you have checked. I wouldnt come 17 miles if i would organize smt like this over 14 dollar egg and this is very offensive on my side. Secondly, yes mistakes can happen but instead of telling me that im very rude and having me more understandable this case you should just apologize and tell me the precautions that you will do in the future to avoid this hazard. Which you did say that the employees wikl wear a cap from now. I think they supposed to do this since the opening arent they? Also i did not swear or rude i was referring you as Madam/Ms. for the entire conversation and laying down my facts. The owner said that she will look into the situation and asked me if i can share screenshots of the transactions. I did. No respond no call and when i call no one picked up then i sent them a text message saying that i need this situation to be taken care otherwise i will report this establishment to better business bureau which is my consumer right to do. She got offensive afterwards and called me saying that im threating her to go business bureau. She also got personal and insult me and saying that im the one that impertinent just because im dissatisfied with all these and asking my refund and additional transactions refund. She was kept saying she is not seeing those charges on her end. I ended up calling my bank and resolving the issue with them. She never said she is not going to give me the money back. She said that she would definitely will issue a refund if those transactions charged after pending but at the end my Saturday only day off ruined because of this cafe. I would tell all my friends that goes there often and guess what all of them are aware of the decrease quality of their food and they already stop going there long time ago!! I wish i just went somewhere else

I was biking on a cold rainy day when I spotted a food truck bearing a towering pharaoh, and paused to examine the offerings. As I was window shopping (I had left my wallet at home), the owner emerged and insisted I accept a bowl of soup. He was undeterred by my lack of payment methods: “Pay me tomorrow, eat now!” Like many children of immigrants, I was naturally unable to reject his aggressively nurturing presence as he commanded me to get off my bike and eat.Presently, the soup revived my capacity for coherent thought and I realized I had my phone and could order to my heart (and stomach)'s content. The standout: the chunky nugget of falafel with a crunchy exterior and fluffy couscous interior, accompanied with an incredible sauce. He and his wife (?) also smoke their own eggplants! Everything was vegetarian, hearty and delicious. Most of all, I was incredibly thankful to receive this stellar level of hospitality from someone who clearly loves to feed people. I felt like I had emerged from my uncle's home: dazed, warmed, and balancing more leftovers than I could comfortably carry.
Good To Eat
1298 65th St Suite #1, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
Food is pretty unique and tastes good. Different than what I would expect as Taiwanese food. Will I crave for them again, probably not. They claimed their food is made after ordering. But all I see is the kitchen and service still need a big improvement in their efficiency and how to speak to customers. We waited for the take out order for more than 30min for dumplings. They should have done a little better in planning. Golden kimchi, Lu tofu and all the dressings have to be made hours before serve for consistency. Dumplings should be freshly made a few hours before and which can reduce the cooking time to 10min. Even frozen dumplings can be done within 10-15min... I really dont see why it could take more than 30min. When I asked about how long I still had to wait after more than 30min, all I kept getting is we made it fresh so it is very normal to wait for more than 30min. Yea, you can tell that to a person who does not know how all the other fresh dumplings places work (DTF with a much bigger customer load, I usually wait for 30-45min, for only steam dumplings I waited less than 30min), and they could have said sorry about the wait, let me check for you instead of making customers more angry about the long wait. Luckily, the cashier knew how customer service works, and went back to the kitchen to check while I had to listen to things from that server who sounded very impatient. Even the food is ok-good, I would rather go somewhere else. The line for waiting to order was not long but still it was a very long wait.
Pizzeria Mercato
5959 Shellmound St Ste#75, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
I love the dough here SO MUCH. This is my husbands favorite restaurant at Public Market and for good reason. The service is fast and efficient, and the pizzas are delicious with the most delightfully chewy crust. I dont eat cheese, so we have this system where my husband eats everything until the crust, and then I dip the crust in olive oil and devour it (they provide regular olive oil and chili olive oil). Its a great system.I live nearby, and I guess they did a marketing campaign where they sent out postcards to everyone offering free garlic breadsticks with any purchase. So we ordered my husbands favorite pizza (the brisket pizza) and asked for the breadsticks as well. OMG. Remember when I said they have the best dough? Well, these are by far the best breadsticks Ive ever had in my life as a result of them having the best dough. I mean, it was even better than the pizza crust! The elasticity of the dough was just to die for. And the marinara sauce they provided was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. At this point I want to ask them if I can just buy a bunch of dough and a gallon of marinara and keep them in my freezer. I dont know what their secret is, or maybe its because they use a woodfire oven. They never asked for a review, it was just so good that I immediately told the waiter that these were the best breadsticks Ive ever had in my life (he was bashful) and went home with the intention of writing reviews both here and on Google.Oh btw, I love the mural they have on the wall. You gotta check it out and look at all the details. I hope this restaurant does well and stays around for a long long time!
Wallys Cafe (Emeryville)
3900 San Pablo Ave, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
In technically what could be called a hole in the wall spot, quietly exists some of the very best Lebanese food in the Bay area.I slept on this place for a number of years, but was asked by a friend to review it, and I was happy I did.Delicious Lebanese food, in the easy going greasy spoon environment, with a super laid back and friendly staff, make for one happy Middle Eastern food experience.I ordered the beef shawarma wrap, which comes with fries, some lentil soup, (absolutely killer), and a piece of baklava at the end of the meal, (homemade. Not the decent but standard fair that Jerusalem bakery serves to most of the Middle Eastern restaurants in the East Bay. No slight on Jerusalem bakery, but you cant mess with Grandma)One of my special delights here was the fact that they make Toum, Lebanese garlic and lemon sauce made with safflower oil and has a consistency of mayonnaise. It is to die for.The beef shawarma in the wrap had a deliciously complex flavor of marinated beef, and was served at my request with some of the garlic sauce in the wrap itself, and some tahini sauce which I will ask them to skip next time.It was deliciously put together and perfectly wrapped. The fries were crispy golden delicious, and tossed in a very light dusting of salt. The homemade baklava with crispy, and buttery, and just had all the things you associate with delicious homemade baklava.I cannot recommend this place highly enough, you may have to look for a minute before you find it is right next door to the old bank on San Pablo avenue at 3009, between 40th and Adeline Street. Youll have to come down Adeline and make a hard ride on the San Pablo or go down San Pablo and make aU-Turn at Adeline.Im super happy I found this place, and I will definitely be back for more. Next: Gyros.Bonus round:I got all this food for just over 20 bucks plus a tip. This is probably the best deal on Middle Eastern food in the Bay area that I have found so far.Piero
Arizmendi Bakery & Pizzeria
4301 San Pablo Ave, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
The pizza great-grandpartent of most of the good California style pizza places in the East bay, Arizmendi DNA, can be found in the pizza sold at Nabalom, (my favorite), Cheese Board, Sliver and others, since the delicious crust recipe, trickled down, from employees of Arizmendi and Cheese Board, who after years working the old school establishments went on to open their own Pizza and Bakery spots.A little different from the other Pizza/Bakery spots, Arizmendi has three choices daily, the daily special, the vegan, and a more traditional cheese and marinara pizza. Sold as quarters (2 slices) for under $8 with a tip, this is a fairly priced spot for the neighborhood. Also they have a very respectable bakery, in which lovers of Cheese Board, will see the same kind of baked selections, presented the same way, in a wood case with transparent swinging doors. The cheese slice, a cross between the thin crispy pizza of a New York slice as served at places like Arinelles, and the puffier pizza sold at most pizza places, had a nice chewy texture and the sauce was great. The daily special, (mushrooms and red onions), is the most Berkeley type slice here, and was like a slice from the Cheese Board, only slightly puffier.I recommend this place if you find yourself on the waterfront in Emeryville, for delicious pizza. They also make a respectable Cafe Latte, and have a nice outdoor seating area.
Secrets Of Tiger
6520 Hollis St, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
Unfortunately, although I was very excited about the high Yelp rating, I was not shocked or amazed. I ordered the sirloin steak that I saw in another reviewers picture, and my order was not similar. The portion size was small. The meat was very grisly, and the chef did not slice completely through making eating it a bit of a mess. It was supposed to be strips but it was strips connected with a very tough strip of gristle. That said, the strips that I managed to break loose without pulverizing, were tasty when dipped in that tiny container of dipping sauce.Given that my whole meal was about 6 oz of meat, I expected a little bit more rice than I received. There was not more than three heaping tablespoons of rice. The chicken coconut soup tasted good, but Ive definitely had better. This is a dish that Ive eaten at literally hundreds of Thai restaurants and I feel highly qualified to evaluate. While Im feeling a bit Uber critical, I have to say something about the glass of water. I dont know what it is that causes this, but the water had a slightly fishy taste and smell. Ive had this happen before in restaurants.Service was very friendly and Id say it was even fast, especially given there was only one employee. He was doing his best to be friendly with every customer but being so short staffed, even in this very small restaurant, meant he was only able to do the bear essentials. The restaurant was immaculately clean, and their bathroom immaculately clean. They have a tiny dedicated parking lot, but I pretty easily found parking curbside.Full disclosure, I heard other customers leaving commenting on how amazing the food tasted and how they will be back soon. Unfortunately, maybe it was my choice of food, but I wont be back. There are too many better options for Thai food nearby.
