Str8 Up Tacos
20900 Pioneer Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90715, United States
Straight up now tell me,do you really want to love meat forever, oh, oh, oh,or, am I only a fake vega-aaa-aaan?Straight up now tell me,is it gonna be jackfruit & cauli together, oh, oh, oh,or, are we just eatin vegan cause we ca--aaa-aaan? - parody of Straight up, Paula AbdulIve been hearing the scuttlebutt in regards to jackfruit, black bean & other assorted vegetarian tacos proudly served from a small taqueria located in a service station. During lunch time on a Saturday, my stomach led me to Str8 Up Tacos for my inaugural visit. The exterior order window was closed, with signage directing customers to order inside. The menu has both meat & vegetarian tacos. However, Str8 Up Tacoss claim to fame are their inspired vegetarian tacos, so naturally I had to go with those.Taco flight (crispy potato, black bean, cauliflower, hibiscus & jackfruit, in handmade tortillas)-Very good! Different flavors & textures intrigued my palate. The hibiscus taco had an extra charge, and reminded me of caramelized onions. My 2 favorite were the crispy potato & cauliflower, because of the crunchy mouthfeel. I found the taco flight filling, new & delicious.Service was fine. I ordered promptly, and had my food brought out to me within a few minutes. Being inside a carwash, there is a minimal amount of dining tables, both interiorly & exteriorly. Ditto for the parking. I parked at the school lot next door, with street parking also an option.Str8 up, these tacos are legit! If Im eating vegetarian, its gotta be bold & daring vegetarian, and Str8 Up Tacos nails it in that department. Unpretentious, low-key, with very good food, Str8 Up Tacos is a great taqueria that Im excited to return to when the taco hunger pangs surface in my gut.Highly recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Pieology Pizzeria Lakewood Square, Lakewood, CA
5027 Lakewood Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
You wanna pizza me?Cuz I wanna pizza you *wink wink* ;pHave pizza your way at Pieology Pizzeria!Shopping nearby, I couldnt wait to stop by and pay a visit to Pieology Pizzeria in Lakewood, which recently opened a few months ago, located next to Cafe Rio & adjacent to Cost Plus World Market.Diners can choose pre-set pizzas or have unlimited toppings on their own custom pie. After a few mins, my culinary creation was within my grasp.Herb butter & red sauce, ricotta & gorgonzola cheese, pepperoni & bacon, olives, mushrooms, red onions, artichokes, garlic, cilantro with a slathering of pesto. Delicious! The thin crust had a light crunch, the cheeses were salty & sour. The portions are enough for 2 to share, or 1 if youre a fatty (like me). The quality of the ingredients, especially the artichokes, were the highlight of my first visit here. At only $7.50 plus tax, definite bang for the buck as well.Paying for my pizza, I noticed a coupon next to the register for a free cinnamon dessert pizza with purchase of a pizza (good till 11/30/13). Score! Yes! Go Rodney! Go Rodney! Its your birthday! Not a holiday! But, do it anyway! ;pDessert, courtesy of Pieology.Mmmmmm, cinnamon. The cinnamon dessert pizza reminded me of the popular dish, bunuelos. Only difference being, the bunuelos Ive had before were crispy, where this was more chewy.Ample seating inside, with communal & more private tables, booths and stools. Service was helpful, with a clean restroom to boot! Parking is in a private lot, shared by the aforementioned Cafe Rio & Cost Plus World Market.I highly recommend finishing your pizza prerequisites & enrolling in a course on Pieology. Get it?!? Pieology! HAHA...........heehee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*cough*...........anyhoo.......Their pizzas are yummy & affordable. Need I say more?NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Bagels n More
1532 Lakewood Ave, Modesto, CA 95355, United States
?? Bagels N More???? LOCATION (= 1 ⭐️) - The location was interesting. Located in a strip mall off one of the main business districts in Modesto California, the indoor area itself is relatively small.I would say that this bagel establishment should probably be a place best patronized through pick up and to go only. I say this Not only due to the small size of the interior, but the extremely random and uncomfortable chairs and tables set up inside. The restaurant was clean however, but I would say they lose a star in this category.??✍️ SERVICE (= 1 ⭐️) - The service was excellent, we were greeted the second we walked in with a smile and professionalism. The staff seemed as if they were family, and if they weren't family they might as well have been. They were friendly, quick, and truly made the restaurant feel like your classic local hometown favorite breakfast spot.?? FOOD (= 1 ⭐️) - The bagels, simply put, are phenomenal. I ordered the breakfast bagel on asiago paired with regular cream cheese and my wife ordered the pastrami bagel on a jalapeño, both were rich in flavor and the bagels were dense. We would absolutely come back.?? PRICE (= 1 ⭐️) - The price point of these bagel sandwiches are anywhere from the six dollar to nine dollar price point. In my personal opinion, coming from a more rural southern state, these prices seem a bit high. But in this area in California we were not surprised by this price point, I don't think anyone should be deterred by these prices within this market.??? EXPERIENCE (= 1 ⭐️) - Our experience was overall good, due to the high quality of food and good service. They had a big TV playing football and I enjoyed watching that, along with today's newspaper that I was able to glance at and enjoy.? Overall Thoughts - 4 ⭐️'s! Would recommend.

Steel Cup Caf
2201 N Lakewood Blvd suite e, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
I started to be a regular at this cafe, its beautiful inside and the employees are very friendly + polite.I live in Ventura which is 1 hr and 30 mins away from long beach, every Tuesday and Thursday I come into town to train jiu-jitsu.Im in town from 6am - 8pm, I usually go to the cafe from 1-5pm.Ive never had an issue at this cafe.Until today, the OWNER of this cafe sees me use the restroom twice without purchasing something, they do have a policy that says you must purchase something to use the restroom. He waits about 15 mins then approaches me about the situation, he says Hi can I help you. Which I respond No, thank you :)He then says Well if you use the restroom you must purchase something, I informed him I come in regularly and sometimes I dont purchase anything but am still allowed to use the restroom. I didnt know it would be an issue today. He replied saying Well you need to purchase something in order to use the restroom, this isnt a library. ( with an attitude) Then turns his back to me and walks away. The whole cafe is designed like a library.... Theres even books on a shelve that you can purchase. The point is he was very rude and didnt have to approach me the way he did, wasnt polite at all.I really enjoyed coming in to this cafe, but after today I will no longer stop in nor be referring any of my friends.

The Potholder Cafe P3
N, 2246 N Lakewood Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
Was super excited to come here to the Potholder. Every time I drive by there seems to be a line. So, wife and i decided to give it a try for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday morning. We arrived about 1030am. Signed in, waited about 30 min, then we were seated. We sat in a pretty spacious patio out back. The place was running on all cylinders!First thing I notice is that service is tip top. Everyone was very efficient, pleasant and helpful. Second thing i notice is that even is very clean and organized. With limited space its very helpful. And finally tho is an amazing space for families with little kids and open enough for strollers! However, one looming issue with my wife and i was the food. I dont know if this was just an off day, but besides the hash browns, everything we ordered seemed bland from the coffee ($3.25 with free refills), hot chocolate, mimosas (($10.95) and bloody Mary ($10.95)to the tall stack of banana nut pancakes. I placed an order for Maritime loco Moco ($13.45) to share with my daughter. Not sure how they make brown gravy but it underwhelmed and tasted like it came from a can or box. Eggs Florentine ($11.95) that my wife ordered were pretty decent, especially the hash browns. But the main part of the dish also underwhelmed. Hollandaise sauce was bland for me. And finally the tall stack of pancakes ($10.95) with banana nut ($1.95) cooked in. Portions was huge, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, but texture and flavor wise i bit chewy. Not sure if it was the nuts or walnuts cooked in that made it chewy, but my wife and forced ourselves to eat about 1/2 the order whole we just left the other half. There are definitely a number of other items on the menu that i would otherwise try. I dont know of Id order the same things again. All in all, not sure what the hype here is. For me, service is excellent but food for me wasnt worth the price. However, come an try for yourself and see. Happy eating!

I Luv Sushi
3215 E Carson St, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
Everything is good priced and taste good as well. Portion sizes are bigger than normal restaurants. The staff is very friendly and open to new customers. One of my favorite places to go to. A lot of food options for vegetarians too.

Long Beach Exchange Retail
4069 N Lakewood Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90808, United States
Stopped by the Hanger on a whim for lunch when we drove by LB area, and found this place quite enjoyable. We didnt have the kids with us that day, but the setting was nice, and the options were good. As vegetarians, we had a Chinese restaurant option. For non vegetarians, they had plenty of choices. There were plenty of seats, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing. There was a combination of working professionals enjoying lunch, students from local colleges, and families grabbing a bit. If it was closer to us, wed probably visit more often. But for those close by, I highly recommend it.

Chinitos Tacos
11130 Del Amo Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90715, United States
Chinitos, dya have good burritos?*Social Distancing Review*Occupying the former location of Nuddlehaus, Chef Beeline Krouch established a restaurant that serves up Mexican fare, with a Cambodian twist. In search of new culinary adventures, I stopped by Chinitos Tacos to pick up lunch and see what this spot was all about. The Thai tea horchata was served in a water cup, and meant only as a sampling size. The taste was Thai tea, with a fair amount of cinnamon.Ordering is simple - pick tacos, burrito or a bowl. Then choose the protein. Finally, sides & extras.Although tacos are on the marquee, my interest was piqued with their fire cauliflower. Also, when I saw pics of their keto-friendly burnt cheese tacos, I knew I had to have that, as well.Burnt cheese barbacoa taco ($4.50)-Imagine this - a taco shell made completely of burnt, crunchy cheese! The best of a lasagna or take out pizza, served as a taco! The barbacoa was tender, and while not a completely generous amount of ingredients, the burnt cheese taco was delightful to eat. Pricey, yes, but good.Fire cauliflower with carnitas ($8.75 + $2.50)-Another great pick! The fire cauliflower is battered & fried cauliflower, topped with pickled red onions & scallions. As I was eating them, dipped into one of the three accompanying sauces, I could almost imagine I was eating hot wings. Similar, but not quite, texture, and a good amount of heat. The added carnitas were a large portion, succulent & completed an already great dish.Happy Hour is Tues - Fri 4pm - 7pm, which has tacos starting at the reduced cost of $2. If you can make it, thats when you should definitely go.Service was good. The cashier was friendly, and the wait for my food wasnt too long, as everything is made fresh to order. Parking is at the Gordon Ranch Plaza, which is usually difficult to come by, but with recent events, wasnt a problem. Additional street parking can also be found across Del Amo Blvd., adjacent to the commercial building.Chinitos Tacos, heres to creativity! An inventive menu, which includes keto tacos/bowls & a cheese lovers wet dream of burnt cheese tacos, is why you stand out amongst the crowd. I have designs on ordering the loaded tater tots & garlic roasted brussel sprouts upon my next visit. Im looking forward to coming back & I highly recommend everyone check you out.

Skillets Cafe
8776 Lakewood Dr, Windsor, CA 95492, United States
This restaurant was a great find to our vacation! My husband and I are visiting Windsor for our anniversary and wanted a good place to eat. We definitely found that here at the Skillets Cafe! The Cafe was great from Caramel Delight who waited on us to the food and atmosphere. They recently added curly fries to their menu to test out and were recommended by Caramel Delight. It was a great suggestion and I agree with him that they need to keep them on the menu permanently. I had the bleu cheese burger with the curly fries and my burger was cooked to medium perfection, nice and juicy! Thank you for a wonderful lunch!
