Souley Vegan
610 Main St, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
Update:I went back with the same group as the first time and two items were missing from our order. It wasn’t handled professionally. We won’t be coming back here for a while if ever.Take out only.Pros:Chicken and waffle. 5 stars and I’m not vegetarian nor vegan. The taste, texture, and look was more like a fried pork chop than a piece of chicken, but it tastes amazing. No complaints.Red beans and rice. 5 stars. Quite flavorful.Cornbread. 5 stars. Real cornbread. A lot of restaurants use the Jiffy-brand mix or some variation thereof. This is like cornbread that my grandma and aunt used to make.Sweet potato pie. 5 stars, but the size is laughable. (See attached pic for size reference. Notice the standard-size fork.) Three bites and that’s it! Someone commented that you can get a bigger personalized size at Nations, which is close by.Strawberry Ginger drink. 5 stars. The perfect blend of sweet and bite/kick. This is really, really good and it’s made in house. To improve:Messy - the syrup leaked through the container and bag and spilled on my leg on my way home. I had to put my food in a Trader Joe’s shopping bag. This was easily solved, but maybe try a better condiment container.Online ordering only, with a $3 service fee. While I was waiting for my order, someone’s phone died and they couldn’t order. The person at the window only then assisted with ordering. It’s audacious to limit the ordering to online orders and also charge a fee. It’s like telling customers that they can only park in the business parking lot and then charge them for parking in the lot. Because of this, I most likely will limit my ordering here and try other restaurants. It’s the principle. The food was so good that I won’t take a star off for this major annoyance, but where is this $3 going? Granted it’s not a lot of money, but it’s irritating. Also, I did not get a confirmation text (with pick up time) as instructed, so I went to the window to make sure my order was placed. Also, this happened to another customer behind me. This adds insult to injury, so on top of the $3 fee, the system doesn’t even work like it’s supposed to. ??‍♀️

Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
1155 Arnold Dr Suite B, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
I love papa murphys, alot. But in this instance I dont think Im inclined to return, at least tho this location. I waited 5 or so minutes to order while the employees had a phone conversation with what may have been the Manger, was ungreeted that whole five minutes, and saw them argue about an extra 30 minutes on their shift, whomever it may have been. Just sad since I love the product to be uncomfortable in place Ive been in since the early 2000s since youve opened. Not saying you wont have a good experience there, considering I have before and many times before, but this instance bothered me alot and if I had gotten a chance to get any food ordered within that 5 minutes I wouldve certainly left a minimum 3 star review from quality alone like Im accustomed to. Sorry papa Murphy franchise, but today, at least with me you missed the mark in a way Im inclined to comment on. :-(

Roxx On Main

Had dinner here with hubby. Definitely recommend reservations because this place gets booked and crowded. Especially when there is a live band playing. The food is delicious American fare with specials. They have an extensive selection of craft cocktails! We started with drinks and the Italian charcuterie starter, steak dinner, and smores sundae for dessert. The menu clearly states no gluten-free options or substitutes. However, they do have vegetarian dishes to choose from and wonderful salads. Farm to fork and locally sourced whenever possible Inside it can get crowded. They have bar seating and a Hightop counter area along the side wall. It will get noisy, especially if the band plays inside. A fun vibrant atmosphere! The service was especially good. Cheyenne was our server for the evening.Parking can be tricky because on the weekends there is a good amount of nightlife in downtown Martinez and its mostly street parking. We made our reservation 2 months in advance via email.Mostly because of the band we wanted to hear that evening Jinx JonesIt seems like this establishment has their regular clientele that dine there. This restaurant came highly recommended we will be back!

Sunflower Garden

Just a passenger traveling through the train station, I came upon this restaurant a very short walk away. I ordered a vegetarian chow mein lunch special, which was very fairly portioned and came with a spring roll to boot. Best noodles I’ve had in a long time, thick and chewy with strong overtones of garlic - and quite filling. The hostess was very kind and went out of her way to get me some additional soy sauce packets. The food came out promptly and hot with everything I needed for a meal to go. I am not familiar with Martinez California but I will remember this city has one awesome Chinese restaurant close to the train station! ????

JPs Bistro
522 Center Ave, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
So disappointed... I had read rave reviews for JPs in a FB food group Im part of so I went with high expectations. My friend and I went for lunch. We shared an order of the Twisted Potatoes, which were described as like chips on a skewer. The twist was there, but they were not crisp, were greasy and had no seasoning. Not even a side of ranch dressing helped. My friend has a BLT with fries and I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich witj onion rings. Both of our orders came with fries. Our waitress had to put in a second order for my onion rings, so while I was waiting I tried a fry. Just as with the twisted potatoes, the fries were not crisp, were greasy and had no seasoning at all.My chicken sandwich was made up of two chicken tenders vs a nice single piece of chicken. They were on the dry side and again no seasoning, and my bun was soggy. When the onions rings arrived, they were also greasy and unseasoned. My guess, the fry oil was just not heated properly which is why everything was greasy, but the lack of seasoning??The staff was friendly and they did take the twisted potatoes off our ticket and offered other things on the menu to replace my meal, but honestly I was not too hopeful anything would be better so I did not try anything else. There are too many other good options in the area, so I wont be back.

Vics
1500 Pacheco Blvd, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
Owners of the Hideout in Lafayette, Vics is just an excellent extension to the experiences we have had at that restaurant. Will take photos of the food next time, but just great grilled cheese and tomato soup. The black bean burger will make a conversion to a vegetarian painless, just excellent. They serve breakfast until 2 pm daily. My wife had the biscuits and gravy and enjoyed the meal as well. The only reason I am giving a 5 star review is due to the staff. Polite, responsive without following up too much. Great experience, great food, and great staff. My new favorite.

Troy
720 Main St, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
My wife and I were running some errands around Concord. We finished around 2 pm and decided to go play some Bocce in Martinez but first we really needed some lunch. We parked downtown and started to walk around. A lot of the streets were blocked off and some restaurants had utilized some of that space to expand their outdoor seating. One of which was Troy.As soon as we saw Greek food and the outdoor seating we were sold on giving them a try. Were so glad we did.Ill get to the food soon, but first, the server (unfortunately I didnt get his name) was awesome. We talked about the food, the Martinez area and what has been going on, and life in general. He really cares about his customers experience and more importantly his family and the town he lives in. I actually thought he may be part of ownership. Now the food... Wow-! Exceptional-!I had the Kefta Kabob; ground beef and ground lamb seasoned and cooked to perfection. It came with rice, tahini salad, pita, and grilled vegetables. All flavors were on point, the vegetables still had a bite to them and the tahini salad was amazing. My wife had a wrap, I unfortunately forgot to write the name of it down. I had some of that as well and equally amazing. It was really big, full of wonder ingredients and well worth the price, which is actually reasonable.Needless to say, well be back again, hopefully soon than later.I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. Again, not only for the food but the exceptional service from people that care. Thanks guys-!! See ya soon.Remember, our restaurants and staff are hurting becauseof many factors. Lemongrass Bistro
501 Main St, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
Thai food. I love Thai food in general, but after awhile, most places seem to taste the same. Especially of note are Thai joints local to my area. Theyre good, but it always seems like there a little something lacking. Even a spot like Tuk Tuk Thai can only be deemed decent by moi. And Im not bagging on these places or anything... but can Thai food really be better? The fact that Lemongrass Bistro is around gives me the answer Im looking for: a resounding YES.This is one of those places that can truly be called a hidden gem. I am not in Martinez all that often... at all, really. A friend of mine suggested it when we were oh so hungry one fateful Sunday afternoon. We walked up and down Main St., looking for something good and unique. We settled on this joint. I immediately enjoyed the environs: chill music, simple yet stylish decor, and a very relaxed atmosphere in general. We took a window table, so we had a nice view of the outside (Main St. looks awesome, by the way.)Our waiter promptly brought out our menus and some waters as well. Browsing over the menu, I could see that this wasnt a straight up Thai place. Still, many of the dishes seemed to have a strong Thai influence, so it felt like Thai food to me. Apologies if that makes me sound ignorant. At any rate, we decided to order the appetizer sampler platter, mango chicken, and the grilled beef. Literally just a few minutes later, out came the appetizers. Appetizers were awesome: lumpia, avocado spring rolls, and chicken satay. So good and exactly enough for 2 to share. Heck, Itd make a great stand-alone meal if one so desired. Came with a spicy sauce and a peanut sauce. Unlike most Thai places, this peanut sauce was less thick and sweet. Thats definitely a good thing. A few mere minutes more, and out came our main dishes. HUGE portions, let me tell you. We shared our dishes and we still got nice and satisfied. The mango chicken was flavorful and juicy. The grilled beef was extremely tender and juicy as well. The food was excellent overall.I am now definitely a big fan of Lemongrass Bistro. I will be sure to return... as I also need to hit up that wine bar thats inside. Did I forget to mention that? Awesome awesome spot. DO hit this place up, for sure.

Taqueria Extra
1135 Arnold Dr Suite A, Martinez, CA 94553, United States
Came here for dinner last night. I had the nachos and split it with my son. We got super nachos, chicken, hold the jalapeños. My husband got a burrito meal. Chicken, black beans, yes to the chips. The salsas were pretty bland. The mild was the only good one. The tomatillo had no flavor and the hot had no flavor and no kick. The chicken, grilled, was amazing but that was about the only thing that was. The nachos were God but they werent particularly spectacular nor were they filling which is a shock. We couldnt finish them solely due to a fruit fly walking all over them. Had it just landed and flown away it would have been fine. I wouldve just removed the part it touched, but no it walked on *everything* so I pushed it to the side. The door was open next to the counter/kitchen and generally if its Fruit flies, then theres a fruit fly problem. They spawn quickly. My husbands burrito was... okay. He said he would have rather had Chipotle and that says a lot considering hes a chef. He says it wasnt filling and just bland. The people working were nice, the restaurant was spacious as it used to be a Country Waffles, but the food was just bland.
