Tikka Lounge
13513 Poway Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
This place is the only Indian restaurant in Poway. It has everything and affordable. A variety of selection for vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Plenty of parking, indoor dining and tables outside.I got vegetable korma, tikka masala samosa, vegetable samosa, garlic naan and roti. Both samosas are fried and comes with mint and tamarind chutney. The vegetable one is stuffed with potatoes and come in 2 large pieces. The tikka masala samosa is layered in sauce and stuffed with vegetables and potatoes. It comes in about 6 small pieces.I got garlic naan and roti. Both are breads. Roti is unleavened and naan is leavened which means that it uses a raising agent where as roti is not so it’s flat. Both came out flat and tastes the same. The naan wasn’t puffy anymore and came out flat.Vegetable korma came with rice. It’s creamy and you could taste the nutty flavors. Had a bunch of vegetables, potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, and snap peas.
Ikes Love & Sandwiches
14827 Pomerado Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
Man this hurts to leave a 2 star review because every other Ikes Ive been to is 10/10.The main issue with this one is mayhem. The guy running the shift each time Ive been in there is always shouting across the store to customers and employees. Gives a real stressful vibe. I think hes a trainer there to help them open but as someone whose worked in restaurants my whole life - that is not a good tone hes setting. People are obviously uncomfortable and awkward sitting in there while we all listen to chaos and confusion going on hoping our sandwiches come out right. The 3 times Ive gone in I have had to remind them the name of my sandwich after waiting 15min intently listening for my name to be called so i can get out of there...and after a while i go check if its almost ready and they say oh that ones right here sorry about that. And offer me a drink. Which is nice and I appreciate it, but Id rather you figure out how to run your shift properly like every other ikes Ive been to and Ill buy a drink if I want one.And what brought me to finally write this review is their Doordash service. They have messed up my order 3 times now (its my gfs favorite sandwich spot so I get it for us often). No bacon - even though I was charged. Asked for sauce on the side - on the sandwich or none at all. Ordered cookies one time and chips another time - not included in my delivery but I was charged for them. Asked for Sourdough - got Dutch crunch.I called today before ordering for us to try and make sure it was made right and they still sent me the wrong sandwich.Come on folks, its not hard. I worked a job like this as a teenager at a far busier restaurant.
Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe
10755 Scripps Poway Pkwy, San Diego, CA 92131, United States
Ive never written a negative review of a small business as I know how hard it is for them. But I have to write this review. I went this morning for the first time for a nice breakfast with my 77 year old Mother in Law with my Son who is home for the weekend from college and his girlfriend. We ordered inside at the counter, the pace was clean and looked really nice, food looked delicious. I paid for my order which was over 70 and I added a 20% tip ahead of time because I always try to tip well. We sat ourselves outside and waited. The first plate was brought out and the young woman who came out had such an attitude I almost thought maybe we did something but I hadnt seen her before. She was scowling, and heavily put the dish down angrily and stomped off. She was clearly not happy. It was bizarre. Then she came back with the rest, with the same attitude. We were polite and said thank you, we got no response from her at all to that. But before she took off again we asked if we could get some ketchup, tobasco and a little jam for Nanas toast You can go get it inside and Ill get you the ketchup from the back her eyes actually rolled when we asked for this. We have no problem grabbing our own, but we didnt know thats how that worked or where it was. I just cant believe how rude and annoyed her whole vibe was. It was really bad and we are nice friendly people. I get that maybe she was having a bad day, but it was so unnecessary to be so rude. She never came back to our table once after we got our food. Really too bad because the food was good and seems like a nice spot. Wish I could take my large tip back. I wont go back.
Greens Please Wellness Kitchen
12202 Poway Rd #100, Poway, CA 92064, United States
If you want the BEST tasting and healthy vegan food in San Diego, look no further. I found this place from all the great reviews when I was trying to find some decent green juice in San Diego. BUT I found something much better: a vegan cafe with many entree dishes PLUS forget the green juice, there are organic green smoothies here in a startling array of combinations and ingriedients. All whole food. All perfect. They have fresh soups made-in-house everyday (split pea, turmeric, cream of broccoli, etc.). They are ALL fantastic (and keep in mind, they are vegan so no dairy, no soy, no sugar, etc.... how do they do it?). Wonderful people working here. Then there are the green smoothies - all made of organic vegan ingredients. I like that they have such a range of healthful choices. Too many options to list. I generally choose the ...Fresca (it has a longer name which I dont remember) or the Good News. These are both amazing green smoothies with a variety of ingredients, low calories and no fruit juice (whole fruit instead). I am drinking my Good News right now and it has things like dark leafy greens, apple (not juice - it is the actual fruit), banana, alkalized water, chia seed, flax seed, and kelp.Did I mention the vegan Nachos, and Mediterranean Quinoa bowl? These have the most amazing whole foods in them - trust me you have never had such compound vegan foods before. And the Lentil Asada is to die for. You wont be bored - and you will be saturated with super healthy, yummy foods. Quick shout out to owner, Ben - that Turmeric Tonic recently saved me from a respiratory infection in less than a day. I swear by it now. Thanks!

I came to Poway in April 2021. Visit from Indiana for a work thing. Found this place for lunch and fell in love with both the owners and the food.Found out I was coming back and I was immediately excited about coming back just to eat lunch here. They swear they remember me from a year ago and the hospitality wouldnt tell me any differently. Its like he was my buddy and I was a daily regular. Kind man and his wife too. Got the #5 first day. Was amazing. Then he told me to get the #3. So next day I did. Blown away. Next time you try #8. Not gonna doubt the man so I did. And that was the best one.Listen, I travel all around the world for my job and this place is special. The world needs more people like them and more sammiches like this.Seriously, I cant say enough great things about this place and even if I never make it back, it will always be a great memory and a golden place Ill remember forever. So if youre still reading this, what are you waiting for! Go experience one of the biggest and delicious deli sandwiches to ever exist!
Maderas Golf Club
17750 Old Coach Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
The Grounds: It is evident that the owners take pride in the presentation of the club by keeping everything green, lush and exceptionally clean. It almost looks like a resort. There was PLENTY of parking for all of my guests and the ballroom is a landmark on the premises. No need to worry about guests not being able to find you.The Ceremony Site: I used the Del Lago Garden for my ceremony and there was ample room for my 175 guests. The lawn was perfectly green and the view was spectacular. The Ballroom: The ballroom is one hell of a venue. The ceilings were palacial and the décor was not overly gaudy. This ballroom was perfect for my gold and deep summer colored wedding. CLEANLINESS was clearly a top priority here as there was not one crumb or speck on the floor, all of the tables and chairs were in pristine condition. The wrought iron chandeliers gave it such a classic look and the amber lighting gave it a splash of romance. The catering team took such good care of making sure there was nothing that looked less than perfect. The Food: No cutting corners or tiny portions here!! Nothing is worse than sitting at a wedding and feeling hungry. Cocktail hour with the tray passed appetizers were such a hit, the options you are given are really meant to fit all palettes and dietary needs. Guests were nearly full and dinner hadn't even started. The portions were pretty substantial. Our guests had a choice between Wild Sea Bass and Filet Mignon and each were equally as delicious. The Sea Bass was flaky and flavorful and the Filet was cooked to perfection. Rice and potatoes accompanied their respective proteins and we were able to choose which went with which. The veggies were so perfectly cooked, with just that perfect crunch finish. …in addition to your cake you can have a LATE NIGHT DESSERT. Truly a wonderful dining experience. Food was piping hot where it should have been hot and nice and crisp cold where it should have been cold. Perfection. The Staff: Everyone was so kind and attentive not only to me (being the bride) but to everyone. We had their full and undivided attention all night and they were so concerned with how I was doing and how mu guests were doing. Not one thing went overlooked, no cutting corners, and the bartender made the drinks nice and strong…which was awesome because it got everyone loose and on the dance floor.Catering/Event Manager: LAURA MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE! PERIOD. We met Laura on her day off, which already gave us a hint at her work ethic. She was so warm, welcoming and made us feel so welcome. The beauty of the club sells itself so not one word out of her mouth sounded like a sales pitch. She showed us the club top to bottom and showed us every option we could possibly choose from for our special day. Throughout the whole process working with Laura made the planning of this wedding so calm and relaxed. Her organization and confidence in her craft did not stress me out one bit. She was on top of communicating with me and covering every aspect of the event in a timely manner. Not once did I feel rushed to make a decision. She is also there for you to make any recommendations if you are stuck on a decision. My entire family just fell in love with her and the way she was able to fit our needs rather than make us fit the needs of the club. She wanted me to have my dream wedding, she executed perfectly and we love her for it. Mutual respect goes a long way…I'll leave it at that
Giant New York Pizza
14077 Stowe Dr STE 108, Poway, CA 92064, United States
So happy to finally be able to try this place after delivering for them for for over a year! I was always impressed with their service, all the crew there have always been warm and welcoming - and the pizza was amazing! Best in the area. We got one vegetarian, one pepperoni and both were excellent, crispy, delicious crust, and fresh, generous toppings. Normally I don’t even eat the crust, but theirs is good! The owner, Mike knows how to bring the goods! It’s also more than fairly priced, a great deal considering the high quality ingredients. Also, can vouch for their devotion to delivery diners, which they attend to with care. I confidently recommend supporting this wonderful restaurant
Villa Capri Trattoria & Wine Bar
14771 Pomerado Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
Not sure what all the fuss is about? I am extremely surprised by all the praise for this restaurant? Perhaps it is different when you dine in. The website states traditional Italian food, more like traditional American Italian food. Either people are extremely hungry and love anything they swallow or not well traveled. As far as my experience goes;I called a take out order. The guy answered and said sure what would you like, oh actually can you please hold. Got back on phone and hung up. I called again, asked if I could hold. Another guy picked up and received my order. Fine.My best friend picked up the meal, said the place was hopping and the atmosphere seemed fun. Nice. Now most importantly the food; The Pollo Parmigiana was basic, the side of mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box, and the best part of the dish were the vegetables. The meat lasagna definitely had a nice blend of cheese but you would have to search for the meat inside. Finally the gnocchi was decently cooked but the sauce was common. In fact when it comes to the sauce on all 3 dishes, they all seemed to be watery without any delicious texture whatsoever.I am quite surprised by all of the reviews claiming how amazing and delicious the food was? I tasted nothing but too much salt in every bite and not enough Italian flare, American or otherwise.Having family in Long Island NY and familiar with many cities in Italy and Sicily, this is NOT traditional. My best friend asked the next day if I wanted any of the leftovers. My response; is that some sort of sick joke?!You want authentic and delicious Italian food in San Diego, go to The Godfather on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Trust.
The Original Pancake House
14905 Pomerado Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
The Original Pancake House provides the most expensive pancakes that you will probably ever eat. But, they are good pancakes. The best Ive had; light with a robust taste. The decor and furniture arent good though; about what youd expect from a Mom & Pop greasy spoon diner.I frequent this establishment about 4-5 times a year. Although the food is expensive and the decor tacky, I could always count on good food, a clean and safe environment and good service. Well, the food is still good. This establishment has changed since I last visited about 4 months ago. The first thing that I noticed was that the plastic table I was seated at was old with the faux wood film flaking off. Next, they had put in more tables in the patio so that you couldnt get in or out of your seat without asking a patron to shift their seat. It seemed dangerous to me.Good pancakes require good syrup. The Pancake House always had clean syrup carafes to use. Not today. I asked for a new carafe when I was given one that was sticky with a pool of syrup in the saucer it was on. I discovered the replacement still had a sticky handle and it dripped water onto my pancakes as I poured. Apparently, they just took the one I had and ran it under water. Now, I am a coffee drinker and I like refills. This has rarely been a problem here. They always had a server or busser walking around providing coffee and water refills. Not today. No one in the patio received refills for anything. And, there wasnt anyone around to ask for a refill until everyone was done.I dont know if this was a one-time occurrence. I hope so. The server staff seemed younger than before and someone obviously isnt training them properly. Also, though prices are high, they arent investing profits back into the establishment. Ill probably try this place one more time to see if this was a fluke.
The Hop Stop
14055 Midland Rd, Poway, CA 92064, United States
I am giving this a 4 star review because I absolutely love the vibe and the staff. I come all the time and enjoy it each time I come. My reason of not giving it a 5 star is because I feel they are going a little backwards. I think the food was once good but is now terrible, and I mean terrible. I ordered shrimp Ceviche and I didnt see any shrimp, I ordered two chicken taco plate and I got a shredded beef stew like meat taco, I am the quiet non complainer so I didnt say anything and just took it, it was $30 which later I left upset that I had such a horrible dinner, my Prosecco however was great. A little more umbrellas on the patio would be good to keep people out of the hot sun and updating things to keep them nice for the price you pay would also be good.On the food - can you please bring back the Chicken Kob Burrito. If I can give any advice, the food needs to be really looked at for what you are charging. I really was upset thinking how I just spent $30 bucks on terrible food that I could have spent on a fantastic meal at home.But...I am a Poway local for 27 yrs and happy to have this place...just improve on the food or bring down the prices to match the taste.
