B Star
127 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
If you are craving Burmese food, which if you are unfamiliar is the best of Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines, B-star is a reliable workhorse. This is part of the same chain as Burma Superstar in SF and East Bay, i.e. same menu.Tea leaf salad is the must-have go-to dish at any Burmese restaurant. And B-star does not disappoint. For vegetarians, you can skip the fish sauce if you let your server know. The salad is prepared fresh by your table and adding some lemon brings out the best of the green tea leaf paste and the crunchy accoutrements that compliment the lettuce, garlic and sesame seeds.Another classic is the palatha with dip, which is the equivalent of a fried roti with chicken (usually) or coconut curry in B-stars case. Or you can skip it for a samusa soup (Samosa soup) thats hearty, savory and can be a meal by itself. If you have any room left, theres a bunch of mains, from Tofu to Catfish (Mohinga - thats a specialty), with flavors reminiscent from the Thai or Chinese cuisines.Parking is always a challenge on clement street and you need to call your parking angel to find metered parking.Tip: Try their $25 lunch special M-F available until 2.30 pm that includes an appetizer, main and a drink. Best value.

Very disappointed we order about 3-4 Protein Nektar bowels almost 7 days a week to make sure we get accurate protein count etc.. after so many times of getting half empty bowels with no peanut butter nor any of the toppings like honey, assorted sprinkles...I had to come here and vent since no one answered my calls seriously these bowels are $12 each I get it 3-4 bowels might take time but thats your job to make sure its the same everytime! I never complain wish I took pictures this time it was just unbelievable! I feel sorry for the owner because the service is horrible!
Captain Mauris
149 Avenida Del Mar, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
I love this place. I've been coming here since it was captain culver's…. Over 20 years ago… and the things I'm obsessed with are:1. Bombay Melt (curried chicken with secret Bali sauce, tomato, onion, and cheese atop an English muffin) served with soup of the day, green salad, or potato salad2. POG- passionfruit, orange, guava juice. They also have delicious smoothies. The place is owned by Mauricio but you'll often find his daughters working the restaurant. :)They are lovely people with excellent customer service. You can sit inside or outside. It's a very laid back vibe. You order at the counter, and then they will bring your food out to you or call you when it's ready. The only thing you need to know, is sometimes they close a little early.. even though their hours are usually till 16:00, I've found them closed at 15:00 or 15:30. I suspect it all depends on how busy they are. So, if you want an afternoon snack, I recommend you call ahead to make sure they are still open.
Choice Juicery
104 N El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
I'm really disappointed because I wanted to love this place.I went on Sunday 6/4 around 5:30. They closed at 6. I wanted to try a smoothie but the kid working said he was done making smoothies for the day. That was lame, but whatever I got a juice and a wellness shot instead.I got the electrolyte superade. It sounded great- hibiscus tea, coconut water, lemon, & orange juice. Paid $16 for both and headed to the car and drove off. I opened up the bottled juice in the car and it smelled like rotten eggs and took a tiny sip and it was completely spoiled. I was so disappointed. The expiration date said 6/7 so it must of been left out or not handled properly.I've had plenty of bottled juices from other shops and never had this issue.I know things can happen but raw products should definitely be handled with more care.

A new spot in outer Richmond, but one of those places that sort of feel like youd never just stumbled upon on your own. Either way, still relatively new so came in with a group of 7 and was seated immediately at the sushi bar and we instantly felt like home. A clean bar with a slightly fancy feel. All the tables look pretty well done as well.FOOD :Chicken wings. An odd choice at a sushi spot but GOODNESS were these good. They took one of the bones out for ease of eating and the batter they had on this was ridiculous. Crunchy, salty and a little sweet. Juicy chicken served with a sauce to balance it all out. Highly recommended.Ankimo. One of the classics but the quality here was phenomenal. Smooth with a ton of umami balanced with the sweet and tangy sauce. Also highly recommended.10 piece omakase. Had all the classics, but obviously the highlights of uni, salmon, otoro, shrimp and Hamachi which were excellent. For $60, really a great option for the quality of fish youre getting with solid seasonings. Definitely recommend.30 piece sashimi. Also excellent quality fish with a good variety and honestly great price point as well.Oysters were also fresh and super tasty.Chawanmushi. RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. Umami, sweet, creamy. Perfect. Highly recommend.Double Toro roll. A great balance with excellent fish. A great starter to share. Definitely recommended.DRINKS:Spicy girl. A great drink if youre okay with a little kick. Sweet and spicy with a hint of rice. Definitely one of my favorite drinks. They have a couple more drinks that were great, so definitely worth trying a few!Overall a great experience. The biggest thing is that it feels like family when youre here. Everyone is friendly and helps you tailor your experience to you. Excellent food, and great drinks, with an awesome staff. Highly recommend. Cant go wrong with anything you order(so far). I will be back often.

Hot N Chili Indian Restaurant
111 W Avenida Palizada, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
We were taking a small Orange County road trip driving down the coastline and stopped by for a sunset dinner. Stella greeted us and welcomed us warmly, right away. We like Indian food and have tried foods from different regions, so we mentioned this to her when asked if we like Indian food. I let Stella know I had had an Indian roommate during college who was from Kerala, and I liked their food very much. She said she was from Kerala! What a neat surprise. Papadam was set on the table with a variety of chutney and spiced yogurt. We ordered lamb karahi, a chefs special that Stella said was an excellent choice. It came out steaming in a pan set on the table and roused others curiosity. Lamb was melt in your mouth tender accentuated by the sweet peppers an and tomato sauce. Very good. Vegetable biryani, an Indian pilaf, was very aromatic and had a complex combination of spices, very authentic. Tikka masala, the British favorite, was smooth and again well spiced and just right. Chicken was tender and tasted clean, good quality meat. Roti was great for picking up the sauces. I tried following Jonathan Golds rule of avoiding the menu items youve heard of and ordered many times before but I couldnt resist. Use the Yelp check-in deal and get the free mango lassi. The rice pudding and gulab jamun were strong on the cardamom and had me thinking of the Great British Bakeoff. They do not skimp on spice, aroma, and flavor! Try the chai, their tea with garam masala and ginger. Its a very nice send-off to salute a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Food was a delight and so was Stella, she was very kind. They deserve appreciation.
The Art Bistro
2960 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Great Bagel specials for the early bird who has a grease spoon craving, but cant make it all the way to Mels Dinner. I recommend trying the BLT, and askem to go easy next time on whatever sauce they put on there. The coffee is fair, Id try a latte or something else. After sometime the back and forth staff Cantonese or Mandarin sort of wears on me, not as sexy of a language as French ( sorry to burst your bubble teas! ). Its the closest thing to heaven out there, as there isnt too many cafes, or really any life out there at all, unless its annoying high school wankers or a lost homeless person. I wonder whats further down before 40th Ave, that is a mission that could be taken, with of course, some Art Bistro goodness.
MRK Public
1402 S El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
Loved the short rib sandwich, the taste I had of my wife's burger, and the lemon ricotta beignets. Short rib was incredibly tender and moist. Onion crisps helped make sure it didn't feel soggy. Flavor combinations were unlike anything I've had before. Just the right amount of peppers and horseradish crema so it didn't dominate the sandwich. Side salad had pickled red onions that added just the right zest. Clearly a chef in house who knows what he/she is doing. 30-40 min drive for us, but definitely planning to come again. Well worth it. (Doesn't hurt to swing by San Clemente beach for sunset stroll while we're there)
Green Apple Books
506 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
Incredible bookstore! I bought a Frog and Toad chapter book for my preschool class, I enjoy reading out loud to the kids and they listen attentively plus enjoy the pictures. Only complaint I have is I was at Green Apple Books two nights ago and overheard a very loud conversation between Green Apple Books employees coming from the back storage room. This employee was loudly describing herself as a black woman to her coworker saying she was one of five black students at her college and that she wouldn't want to have a child with a white man because she'd be disappointed to have a “white baby”, her comment earned her a chuckle from her colleague. I am biracial-black and white and that comment from the employee has seriously bothered me and is so deeply hurtful and offensive I am stunned that someone would have the lack of self awareness to make a comment like that out loud and that someone else would even laugh at such an awful comment. If someone said out loudly that they didn't want a brown or black baby it would be considered deeply offensive but somehow it's okay to say out loud that you wouldn't want a “white baby”. Those employees are surrounded by books, books and more books and apparently the individual who made that disturbing comment went to college yet they are still incredibly ignorant. Get some self awareness, lower your voice and read a book instead of rattling off your ignorance loudly at your place of employment. A huge portion of people on this planet are illiterate-be grateful that you have been taught to read and write, be grateful that you had the opportunity to go to college-only a small minority of people in the planet have the privilege to attend college. Remember that.
