Malabar Restaurant
514 Front St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, United States
I am not a vegetarian however my friend who showed me the place is. This is the best not only vegetarian restaurant food Ive had Id say its in my top 3 restaurants for its food that Ive ever been to. I live in Toronto and think about how much I would love this restaurant around the corner from my house. The decor is simple but I wouldnt want it any other way. The servers are all family member young and old and I also think that it is what makes this place so unique and special. My friend had been staying in Santa Cruz for over a week and ate here almost every evening. The server had great food knowledge and reccomendations (Son of the chef) and was absolutely lovely. He knew more about the food than most servers in upscale restaurants. The sauces, textures and dishes were so unique and outstanding... that says a lot coming from a picky meat-a-tarian in a veggetarian restaurant.Outstanding will definately come back on my next trip to California! Well Done!

Been here a few times. Every time the food was really good. Better value for your money than other vegetarian restaurants in the area.

Shun Feng Restaurant

Its ok. Not used to the way they cook and nothing stood out to me as far as taste. Tried their Kung Pou dish and I was not a fan of their style of sauce used. Its a no frills Chinese restaurant -- but to their credit they do serve mock-meats for the vegetarian taste-buds. It could be just me and I go by taste only... but they did have a good turnout of customers the night I was there.

Decades of being a Santa Cruz favorite, this place never fails to serve healthy, delicious food, extremely fast! The ingredients are high quality and clean. Theres options for vegetarians through carnivores. Everyone except very picky children will find something they love. Picky kids are likely missing digestive enzymes and therefore missing out! As the sauces and seasonings are highly flavorful Asian fusion inspired enhancement. The menu has changed over the years a bit, allowing for more al a cart options. I do miss the hoisen beef, and hope its brought back! Amazing to still get the same excellent fast fresh and healthy cuisine this many decades later!Theres a small very casual and social dining area in a covered enclosed patio. Take out ordering is popular. Smaller children may need assistance staying on the picnic bench style seating. Theres a standard high chair. Watch out for kids and dogs in the narrow one direction parking lot!I understand the clashing of laws around dogs now being considered support pets, and therefore cancels all the restrictions on animals being near food prep, service and dining... But its not sanitary nor appropriate as those laws were in place for many decades to protect food sanitation and public health. That said, theres often dogs in the patio or parking lot. Restaurant owners are really being squeezed between a rock and hard place!

This is, in my opinion the best sushi joint in Santa Cruz. I can’t say there isn’t a single thing I’ve ordered that didn’t taste amazing. They have a lot of options from basic to specialty rolls. Even vegetarian and stuff for the friend who isn’t a sushi fan (steak rolls, California rolls, tasty appetizers, etc). Some of my personal favorites are the Seabright Special, Santa Cruz, White Dragon, Hawaii, and Eternal Sunshine. Their Miso soup is the best I’ve had too. House salad has a tasty dressing on it as well. Service and staff are usually on point. Only downside is busy and a small restaurant space. They have a second location in Aptos as well. Check them out, I’m sure you’ll like it.

We drove from SF to visit Santa Cruz and came across this restaurant. Lovely corner shop with excellent food and great service. Looks like a great family team in the kitchen. My wife says the crispy vegetarian tacos were the best shes ever had. My delicious beef burrito was so huge, I couldnt finish it. Great place and not far from the Boardwalk.

Ikes Love & Sandwiches

This is the worst Ikes I have ever been too!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS LOCATION! !!!! We love Ikes and we so excited when they came to Santa Cruz but we have given them numerous chances and they consistently screw up!!!! They either do not understand the meaning of the word VEGAN or they do not care. Every time we order the same sandwiches with the same instructions (because we do not trust them after the first sandwich) and everytime we get different sandwiches... My husbands is never VEGAN they add ranch sauce everytime and mine they never put the right vegetables on it and Thus time they put real cheese... Why bother having posters everywhere saying to just ask to make it Vegan if you are either going to hire staff that dont care enough to make the sandwiches right or you will not train them properly to do their job! I WOULD AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST!!! GO TO ANY OTHER IKES DO NOT GIVE THIS LOCATION YOUR MONEY!!! I know some will read this and think I am not vegan it does not matter to me... But if you know anyone with allergies than you will understand that if they are so callous with these request they are going to make someone sick or kill someone... So I think this is a big deal!!!!

We love the vegan sashimi and the vegetarian rolls! The restaurant is very small, but there is a very interesting sign on the wall. We approve the signal ?

Honey B Market

Recently visited this cute cafe with my homie for brunch and was blown away by both, their delicious fermented plant-based food & the energy inside which felt happy, vibrant, & creative! We had the curry bowl and what stood most for me on that dish was the squash that just melted in my mouth. We also had the chanterelle sourdough galette which was 10/10.And the shroomy hot cocoa - a perfect beverage!!!When we heal ourselves, we heal the world. — I strongly resonate w/ Katies mission for Honey B and excited to have a fermented cafe in town (which my gut biome is also super stoked about :)It was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be returning. If youre in the area and looking for a energizing dining experience, I highly recommend checking out Honey B!PS: No photos this time as we devoured the food as soon as we got it.

A fabulous all vegetarian restaurant with a couple of vegan options.I ordered the mushroom Zuppa soup and was blown away by how flavorful it was! There’s some serious black magic going on that makes that broth so amazing- apparently a house mushroom blend. The meatballs were also pretty great (also made from mushrooms). My partner had the truffle grilled cheese which was excellent, but could have been a bit more salty. For drinks, we had the berry kombucha and the spruce lemonade, both of which were excellent!Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town- they also sell fresh mushrooms, some of which are hard to buy elsewhere!
