Slice House by Tony Gemignani
2916 Tapo Canyon Rd B B, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
Very disappointed with the service in this place. I went there for my first time and wanted pizza by the slice. I saw they had a bunch of options and noticed the slice I wanted had 3 clumps of ricotta on there. I kindly asked her for (2) slices (mind you, it's $7.00 a slice…) and she told me she couldn't “modify” any pizza behind the glass. I asked her why and she said she just couldn't and I could do it myself. I told her that if she cooks it that it will melt and I'll be unable too. She wouldn't budge. It was such a simple request especially given the fact I was about to drop $70.00 on pizza for Mother's Day. It really upset me, I even told her she could hand it to me before cooking it and I'd do it myself and she couldn't do that either.I am a paying customer asking for a easy request since I cannot each ricotta or other cheeses due to allergy issues. The fact they couldn't do this was baffling and turned me off to point that I won't ever come back or recommend this place to anyone. East Coast Pizza and other pizza by the slice places have always helped me out with simple requests like that.
Campos Famous Burritos

Just ordered 2 plates for the first time atThis place. Called in my order and gotta day that the male who answered was very pleasant. UNFORTUNATELY the food was sub par and I ordered carne asada plate VERY well done and got a half of a handful of medium cooked meat. Ordered a fajita plate with beef and received taquito plate instead. Not exactly a good first impression but I will try again just Incase it was an off day...apparently 140++ people gave Campos a very high rating??

My wife & I saw the reviews & had to try it. Ordering was a bit odd. There is a nice guy who comes out to greet you. Unfortunately, he talks a little too fast while kind of mumbling, but we understood most of what he said.Pictures of the food you can order is on the wall. Id call it a menu, but a menu typically describes ingredients & shows pricing. We thought it was strange that we couldnt pay when we ordered, because we ordered at the cash register. Looking back, I should have forced the issue & insisted on paying first, because we would have had the option of saying oh, wow, no thanks or possibly choosing something else.We sat down in a restaurant that was roughly half full. One take-out order was picked up during this time, so the vast majority of their business was from eating there, at that time. We both got impatient because it took just over 25 minutes to bring out our food. Meanwhile, no utensils, water, etc., was brought to our table. The food was brought to us in plastic take-out containers, with plastic take-out utensils. Water was never offered. When we were finally able to get his attention to ask, a nice looking bottle of water was brought out (looking a lot more expensive than what we needed to just help with washing down the food). I again asked for just a cup of water, but they dont offer that.At this price point & having to pay after you eat, but provided with a to-go style eating experience, its like they havent decided if they want to run a nice dine-in restaurant (ignoring the interior design and appearance), or provide a more fast-food style eating experience. The food tasted decent. We both gave it a 6.5 & 7.0 out of 10. Although there wasnt that much meat, we both said we would have eaten there again. However, we then went up to pay, and even after returning the unopened bottle of water, were shocked to be given a bill for almost $50 (for a plastic container & utensil style meal). He then pointed to a take-out flyer off to the side where pricing is shown. Why werent we shown this when ordering? Roughly $22 and $23 for each of our meals. At this price point, with the plastic container & utensils, only 6 small-to-medium sized pieces of meat, & no water or other attention to detail, we wont be eating here again. At most, these meals should be around $15 & $16 each, & then wed have little to complain about. At this price point though, there come additional expectations, like ordering at the table (with a menu), offering water, asking if everything is okay with their food, and providing larger or a few more pieces of meat. Even with COVID and inflation influencing pricing everywhere we eat these days, there are much, much better options available, and at a lower price point.

Lots and lots and lots of options for everyone. My family and I wanted to check it out because we heard there were some good vegan/plant-based options. We went for dessert so we could scope the place out for a future visit, in which we plan to get a meal. We got smoothies (the blueberry, strawberry, strawberry & banana, and Pina colada). We ordered boba with them and my kids and husband and I all loved it! Weve been to several boba places in town and this was one of our faves. But after seeing their menu, we look forward to coming here to eat soon. Its not listed on this menu that I took home with me, but on their board in the restaurant they have a vegan bacon croissant! I totally want to try that!Im not sure if it would be a good place for my kids to dine in though. Its smaller and more intimate inside and Id feel bad if the kids were loud and disturbed the other patrons. But we will definitely order out in the near future.
In-N-Out Burger
2600 Stearns St, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
Most disappointing meal at a fast food restaurant ever....I have been eating at in n out since I was a kid, I had the first ever poor experience at the Simi Valley in n out...it felt like high school kids empowered and having a try at laying down the rules for the customer. I felt confronted when I was told that they were closed and we need to leave so they can go home...there were many employees still busy...I said sure can I have two minutes, I still had a plate of Frys to finish... The look I received did not feel friendly it was a look that seemed to me to confer that two minutes was not ok and that I needed to pick my food up and leave now...it threw me off my emotional base... I have always had only the absolute highest regard for all in and out employees, and consider all staff at all locations I have ever been at to be the most across the board best employees of all fast food restaurants, the king of hard working kind American fast food.I had a couple more bites of Frys, lost my appetite and threw my fires out and cleaned up my tray and walked out into the parking lot to finish my conversation in the lot with my friend and I we finished, we were told that we have to leave again. We thought it was open till 2:00 am and so we finished our conversation and went to our cars to leave.I realized I didnt get a lid for my drink, didnt want to spill and so had to re-arrange a few things in my cup holder things so I didnt spill on the drive home.Meanwhile the employees gathered at the window in what seemed like a planning about how to come harass me more, a girl came out and made a statement like we are waiting here for you to leave..at that point I called whoever would come over to explain to them that their behavior felt like intimidation And I had never ever experienced anything like that ever from any fast food restaurant and the last thing I ever would have expected was to have a team of shirtless groms from In n Out hassling me.Most disappointing fast food meal ever other than the food poisoning I got from the jack in the box in ft Collins CO, where I ended up in the hospital in new Mexico on a road trip home for Christmas.
Urbane Cafe
2091 Madera Rd, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
If youre looking for a healthy sandwich then this is the place to go. My only surprise was the potion size of the sandwich, I thought I would get more but to me it was about half a sandwich. I seen this Urbane Cafe for a while since I usually go to The Habit next door but I wanted to try something different. So I put in my order online for the Club Sandwich. When I got to the place, there was plenty of parking during lunch time especially now that they allow outdoor dining. I was able to walk in and my order was already at the take out rack. A employee acknowledge me when I walked in and just handed me my order. I enjoyed my sandwich, I had some ranch dressing in the office so I added that to my sandwich to add some extra flavor. The side salad was alright but it wasnt my favorite.

You can immediately discern that the owners focused on creating a fine quality establishment. The Bar area looks terrific despite not being ready yet for full service. They are still waiting for their liquor license. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the cuisine. The menu boasts a good variety of authentic Mexican dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and fresh ingredients.Start your meal with the irresistible guacamole. The tortilla chips are crisp and taste fresh, the ideal accompaniment to the creamy guacamole. The salsas are not strong. Smokey and flavorful but still lacking that fire that makes your palate come alive. For the main course we had the mouthwatering creamy chocolate mole chicken enchiladas, the amazing grilled fish tacos, carne asada and chicken tacos. Wow! Delicious, fresh and simply a fiesta of flavors in your mouth. Our meal was complemented by an authentic Mexican cucumber agua fresca drink. With its vibrant ambiance, attentive service and outstanding cuisine, this restaurant captures the festive spirit of Mexico and delivers it to your plate.
Elviras Mexican Grill

After all the hoopla in my Simi Valley Foodie's group I had to try this place. I heard it is super good, super busy, and has excellent service. We went on a Saturday evening at around 8:00 PM and it was about 75% full so we got a booth table that was so ridiculously tight we barely fit in. I thought the decor and vibe were top-rated.The service was excellent. I could not have asked for better service. It was the food that I think is both mediocre for my taste and relatively expensive. All three of us rated our dishes at about a 7 out of 10. Sighting that the salsas and chile sauces were very mild and lacked heat. Very odd to have no heat at all on three dishes and a salsa bowl. My Chile Verde dish, which is my staple dish, was slightly above average but lacked deep chile flavor and heat. One of my guests ordered the Spinach Enchiladas and thought they had potential but did not really have a great and distinct chile flavor. The third dish was generous portion of a child's bean and rice burrito combo dish, that came rice-less inside the burrito, but scored well on flavor. We all felt the beans were ok, but are only half mashed. We would have preferred refried to go with our dishes. The Spanish Rice was, in all our opinions, excellent as were the flour tortillas. The salsa was okay but again lacked chile flavor and heat. I actually took some home, added some of my New Mexico dried chili peppers, and it came to life. At least in our opinion.Lastly, the presentation of the dishes were gorgeous. Just like the decor. I am certain that over time the types of issues I have noted can be easily fixed. I do look forward to trying it again, soon.
The Flying Yolk
2902 Tapo Canyon Rd #0901, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
The Flying Yolk is a new feeling, counter order with breakfast sandwiches on croissants and brioche and breakfast burritos. Seating is a little limited when we were there on a Sunday late morning (granted that's prime brunch time!) And in general we thought the food was good.I had a croissant (they're fresh baked) with their vegan patty, cheddar cheese, and egg whites. They managed to make a croissant sandwich manageable. The egg whites were perfectly done (apparently that's not easy based on what I've ben served at many other restaurants.) I didn't love the cheddar but it was an overall good sandwich. (American and Swiss cheeses are also available.)My wife had the vegan patty (which is gluten free and vegetable based, not soy). She used this as base for avocado toast (instead of bread). She liked it and thought it was well presented. Our kid (“fresh” from two weeks at camp…) enjoyed the grilled cheese he got, also on a croissant.)We all shared a side of tots. It was a very generous portion. They were perfectly fried and we had nothing to complain about as, they're tots, and they provided the exact “tot” experience one would expect and hope for from tots. They have self serve coffee - a couple varieties. I had French/Italian toast which I thought was super good (and I'm super picky about coffee). The only complaint is everything the food and beverages are served in is disposable. Throw away coffee cups and food served on paper. We always appreciate (as does the planet), especially when dining in, food served in washable and reusable plates. (And coffee is always more satisfying in a mug. We'd definitely come back though!
