Hungry Bear Deli
2205 S Melrose Dr #103, Vista, CA 92081, United States
This restaurant has a wide array of menu options. On this visit, my partner selected a pepper steak with American Cheese, and I ordered a Ruben with sauerkraut. This deli typically serves the Ruben sandwich serves by splitting the meat between corned beef and pastrami. It adds the sauerkraut between the meat slices. As a finish, they add Thousand Island dressing. I selected the marbled rye bread and asked them to only use corn beef, without any Thousand Island Dressing.Their pepper steak sandwiches are a sub-styled sandwich, and they serve the Ruben between two slices of a large size slice of rye bread. Both sandwiches were too much for us to eat in one sitting. Both of our sandwiches were satisfying and tasty. For those of us who only eat less than is available, they provide pop-up aluminum foil sheets to make the trip home simple. There are many tables in the deli and a handful outside. Seating was a problem when we arrived in the middle of the day. There is plenty of parking.
Taco Bell

I go here regularly and really enjoy it to be honest.I came here with my wife and our two annoying screaming kids (oh my god they don't shut up) and order nacho fries to which they instantly cut me off and said “we don't have nacho fries they're out of a reason.” What is this a freaking fruit or something? There's no reason why they can't have some god dang nacho fries year round. Despite there being about 59 cars behind me, I knew I had to order something else and pull forward… BUT I DIDNT. I started shouted directly at the dumb taco man and told him to get me someone who can get me some taco fries. I could tell I startled him because the headset fell on the ground but was quickly picked up by what I assume to be the manager. He asks me what the problem was. Big mistake taco manager… I yelled that I wanted my dang taco fries and he again said they didn't have it but would make our order free to get us moving. I ordered a spicy soft taco and thought I'd be happy. I bit into it and instantly noticed it was WAY TO DANG SPICY WHAT THE HECK!! I flipped it into reverse and drove backwards through the drive through with my hand on the horn the whole time throwing the hot tacos back at the window. I will not return until they get the nacho fries back. Thank god they're colorblind though because when they called the police they said my Volkswagen was blue when it's in fact pride colored.
Teriyaki Grill
380 3rd Ave B, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
What a lovely, CLEAN, casual atmosphere on 3rd Avenue! The employees are kind and attentive and the food is freshly prepared but... The portions were very disappointing. We enjoyed a very tasty salmon bento box but... for $18+ you would expect to get a decent portion of rice to go with the salmon filet (decent portion of salmon but I was struggling to find any rice or Teriyaki sauce on the plate! See picture.) The vegetables were delicious!!! Only two, tiny fried gyoza come on a small bed of mixed salad. The ginger dressing for the salad is served separately and was good but it was so much compared to the amount of salad you get.The actual white plate that the food comes on is huge and adds to the illusion that the food portion is small, which it totally is. It did not scream bento box.The lemongrass curry sauce on the wings was super yummy even though the wings could have been much crispier. They have canned sodas, canned Thai tea and green tea, Sapporo and other beers.I would reluctantly go back to try some other menu items but I wont expect good portions.
Agave Coffee & Caf
303 H St, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
My wife and I visited the bank that is next door to Agave Coffee and Cafe and decided to give it a try for the first time. I ordered their biggest iced tea that they had to offer for which I was charged $3.53. When they gave it to me the cup looked small when compared to other competitors similar large iced tea offerings. I asked the waitress if it was really the largest cup and she confirmed it. The size of the cup according to their menu is 20 ounces. One thing that irritated me was not the small cup vs price ratio but the fact that they filled it with around 50% ice and the rest was the actual tea. It felt like I finished it soon after I started drinking it. Later that same day I visited one of Agaves competitors and ordered a large iced tea. The size of their cup was 30 ounces and the ice vs tea ratio was around 10% ice and 90% tea. The cup was huge and I was only charged $3.45 for it. I was charged 8 cents less than agave on a larger cup with less ice and a ton more tea. Better value in my mind. I must be fair and say that I cannot form an opinion on Agave in general just on a one time visit but for now that is my first impression and it was not good. In my mind value is almost as important as service and the quality of the product. Hopefully on my second try ordering different food items (not ordering tea anymore) my review of Agave improves.
Urban Plates
12746-3 W Jefferson Blvd, Playa Vista, CA 90094, United States
As a regular patron of Urban Plates for nearly a year, my loyalty was initially rooted in their promise of healthy meals. Unfortunately, my recent experiences, particularly the last one, have led me to decide not to return.Service quality has been consistently mediocre to poor. Despite the cafeteria-like setup, there is a 3% surcharge to support employees and an expectation for tips, which feels unwarranted given the minimal service provided. Even with a $20 minimum wage and increased prices, the restaurant repeatedly fails to accurately fulfill straightforward orders. For Plate Pass members like myself, the inability to customize meals via the app necessitates ordering in person, negating the apps convenience. I have submitted feedback about this multiple times, including to the Owner, but never received a response. On my latest visit, the cashier, after scanning my Plate Pass, charged me the regular price. She realized the mistake, called over the manager, and inaccurately accused me of not scanning my pass. I was refunded the difference in cash, yet received no apology for the mix-up or the accusation.Further diminishing my view of the restaurant, I and other patrons were once offered a free cookie in exchange for a 5-star Yelp review—a tactic that questions the authenticity of their customer ratings. The establishment is typically empty, contradicting claims of its popularity. The healthy food, which I found to be high in sodium and other undisclosed ingredients, has left me feeling unwell after dining recently. This pattern of errors and the latest incident involving the cashiers false accusation and lack of accountability are clear indicators that its time for me to find better dining alternatives that uphold transparency and customer respect.

Food is as expected, service is horrible.Write this as I sit in the drive thru for a second time for an online order placed 10 minutes prior. Waited 30 minutes the first time. Got to the speaker box and worker tells me to pull forward to the window without me saying anything. Pull up to the window and she tries charging me for the order of the car behind me ( whose order she did take ). I tell her I have an online order and provide a name. She says there is no order under that name. I show her the order information and she says it's not here. I double check the address show her and she says it's not on her computer. She then tells me to park in front. I do and wait a the front door since its closed. No one acknowledges.I get back in the drive thru and have been here for about 25 minutes about to ask for my order again. App shows order as complete. After 1 hour ( total time here ) I pulled up to the box and was told to wait. I gave the order name again and was told to pull up to the window. Asked for a refund and was told they can't do a refund that it needs to be done to be on the app.Was told the system is slow. Could have at least acknowledged me when I was at the front door waiting. What a waste of time.
Yard House
1247 Rancho Vista Blvd Suite 1230, Palmdale, CA 93551, United States
Went on a Tuesday night to take my Mom and kid out for a special treat. It was anything but... The star is for our server Janine who was very nice. The negative 4 stars is for the food that we were served. My Mom ordered her usual fish and chips but with mashed potatoes. The outer layer fish was burnt and smelled fishy. It was also very salty. The potatoes were sour and had a bad aftertaste. I ordered the carnivore pizza and wings. The pizza was cold and the sausage tasted weird, not fresh. The wings were hot, but even they werent good. My kid ordered the Korean cheese steak. It didnt look appetizing at all BUT my daughter ate it so... We sat near the bar and kept hearing glass break. The bartender was chucking stuff and knocking over glass. He never stopped. Liquid was pouring on to the floor and he just propped up a yellow warning spill sign and continued to chuck stuff. Guess he was having a bad night. Janine was nice enough to remove my Moms meal but the bill still came to $60 (not including tip). I wouldve been better off going to InNOut. At least my food wouldve been hot & tasted fresh. Also, whats up with the wait times and empty booths. We waited 20 min. & there were available booths. Definitely not going back...
Vitality Bowls
1631 E Monte Vista Ave #103, Vacaville, CA 95688, United States
I got a kale salad, I payed something like 12 dollars, and what i received was a bunch of kale and celery. That was my salad: kale and some celery. Also the sauce I was given had so much vjnegard in it. I think the bowls are kinda of good. Good for breakfast, but better stay away from this place if you want a salad, which is paradox since its a vegetarian restaurant. Very expensive with absolutely nothing special in it.
Pieology Pizzeria Vacaville, CA
1650 E Monte Vista Ave Suite EE-103, Vacaville, CA 95688, United States
Went to Vacaville Pieology to and had the worst service. My wife has a gluten allergy (real one) and it didnt seem as if anyone working actually knew what it was to include the manage. After the line coming to a complete stop with 15 or so other guess behind us and all the line servers running around not working together the Manager told them to not put anymore pies in the oven. The Manager continued meaningless work all the while not other pies going into the oven 10 min later after noticing the line, the manager was asked again what to do with the gluten free pie. The manager then came and cleaned a stop in the oven for the pie to cook without cross contamination. After one side of the over was clean... by the way it was filthy... our pies where cooking. All this work only to have the gluten free pie put on a pie tin with paper contaminated with other pies on the cutting table. This place was a mess!! All of the pie prep area was not clean and prep table was being restocked without cleaning it up. We finally made our way to the tables to eat only to find every table a mess. Other customers were having same issue as no one was cleaning anything. ANYTHING!! even the Coke dispenser was filthy. We have had good visits before... However the last two have been horrible. Not sure if it is under new management or what.We will not be having pieology until changes are made.
Virtue Juice Coffee
1670 E Monte Vista Ave #102, Vacaville, CA 95688, United States
I came to this place to study, as I thought it would be a nice spot with good coffee and food. However, I was quite disappointed with my experience. I ordered a medium cookie butter latte with oat milk, which cost me almost $8. This is a premium price for a medium-sized drink, but unfortunately, it did not taste that good. The coffee flavor was not strong enough, and the fact that they used Monin syrups instead of making their own in-house was a bit of a letdown. I also ordered the avocado toast, which was quite heavy on lemon and just okay. It was priced fairly, though, compared to other places. Moreover, I planned to study there, but the Wi-Fi was not reliable; it kept going on and off, and I couldnt use it to get any work done. Overall, I spent $18 and wouldnt recommend this place to others.
