A spectacular surprise in every bite!!!!I love this little cozy coffe shop, very intimate setting where a conversation can be held in peace. The staff are friendly and make me feel like Im meeting up with a friend after a long absence. Now onto the food, the banana bread is amazing. You can taste banana and hints of vanilla in every bite. The bread is consistently moist and Im glad there arent any nuts in it.For coffee I got the Viet Crack, it was clean, smooth, and just the right amount of caffeine. Dont expect the traditional Vietnamese coffee that leaves you shaking.Overall I would highly recommend this place.

Zabb Thai Cuisine
4001 West Coast Hwy, Newport Beach, CA 92663, United States
Okay, Ive been eating here for over a year now and can still confirm that their soups and curries are top notch! Tom Kha, Tom Yum, Red/Green/Panang Curry - all amazing! I still do not enjoy their noodle dishes. While the food is amazing, they do struggle with some consistency issues. For example, they have not earned my complete trust when it comes to takeout orders. Ive gotten home one too many times with something wrong in my bag, so I always peek at what was packed before leaving now. Also, their spice levels are all over the place. I order Medium Spicy everywhere, but once we got a Ka Pow (Basil Chicken: medium) that was SO spicy I could not eat it. It hurt too bad. Im not sure if I was given the wrong one (i.e. someone else ordered a spicy Ka Pow and it got mixed up) or if they just had a heavy hand and made it crazy hot that night. Due to the disappointment of not being able to even eat my meal (again, I order takeout - was not in the restaurant to fix the issue), I have started ordering everything Mild. It works out because some dishes get home and still taste Medium, butttt others are completely bland (aka they actually made it mild). Thats why I cant give 5 stars. The food is great, for sure! But the inconsistency and mistakes drop it a notch. Also, their entree prices have gone up $1-2 (on average) since November. Ohhh, one more thing to note is they started valet parking. They have a lot right beside the restaurant (which is usually not full when Ive visited), but want to park cars as close together as possible in there. It seems really unnecessary and especially during Covid when we were wearing masks and sanitizing like crazy - they want someone inside your personal car...ehhhh. Just wanted to give that heads-up to all the introverts because Im sure youll find it as awkward as I do. Definitely recommend Zabb, but with some hesitations.

Stereoscope Coffee
100 Bayview Cir Suite 1200, Newport Beach, CA 92660, United States
Update July 2024:I used to think stereoscope is overpriced but it's basically the norm now (maybe slightly higher) but considering other shops give you less coffee for about the same price at similar or lower quality, it is fair. At least stereoscope gives you a good amount of quality coffee!Consistently good drinks and I say this as someone that has tried basically all of their drinks besides the tea line. One thing I can hope for is shorter lead time for online orders. Currently using clover, it's at least 30 minutes once ordered and even longer using apps like grubhub. But it seems they're making orders at max output so not sure if this can be possible.I also wish you have the option to add no ice in any drink as I sometimes get multiple drinks to save the others for the future. In any case, stereoscope is the gold standard for specialty coffee.———————Had to knock another star bc the bfast burrito is now smaller but pricier. And hot sauce costs extra ?update: Sep 2023So Ive been 20+ times now and I really do love their coffee because its tasty, high quality, and consistent. Their food is also some of the better foods available at specialty coffee shops like the bfast burrito and english muffin sandwich. However, lately, they have raised their prices quite a bit so the drinks are now in the $7-8 range. Especially for tonics it is quite expensive and even viet cold brew is about $7+. Not to mention their bfast burrito is $16 and hot sauce costs extra (charging extra for hot sauce is really bad form. If people dont want it, then just have it as a free add on).As much as I love this place, the prices are getting out of hand. Sure, everything is expensive now but if youre charging $8 for tonic water and a chai shot... you know what youre doing. And forget ordering on doordash etc bc prices are even higher which is understandable but point still stands.---------------Best royal milk tea I've had! Also their cup doesn't seem to condensate very much? Not sure why but very nice. Usually plastic cups with ice would be dripping in water/condensation but not this one.

Westcliff Plaza
1000 - 1150 Irvine Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92660, United States
I love the shopping center theres a great variety of eateries and Supermarket drug store CVS and Bank of America the only trouble I find with a shopping center is at the parking doesnt seem to quite make it doesnt quite fit the infrastructure making it a little bit more inconvenient. And the only other thing that really didnt make me feel comfortable is that its constantly filled with kids either going two were coming from the schools Newport Harbor High or the local elementary schools they say its like eating in a high school cafeteria unless you hit it at the right time and for the most part most of the kids are well-behaved but theres always those random goofballs that have a point to prove and can really be disruptive to the nice quiet or intimate lunch that you were hoping to have. My best piece of advice? Order your food in advance and get it to go unless you can hit it spot on to where you can sit outside and really enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee or a slice of pizza without a lot of kids discussing their social life and talking at the top of their lungs to where you get to hear about all the things that are going on in their lives at this time. It pretty much caters to the higher end or the other side of the track type people however even the normal, person can casually blend in amongst the animals!

Herst Coffee Roasters
3400 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA 92663, United States
I'm a resident at the Lido Island and I live here more than 10 years . I remember where Marina Village just built with all cute shops and restaurants . We were all very excited about and we still do but unfortunately lately, it's became so UNSAFE place, because of a people from Middle East males occupied coffee shop “ Herst Coffee Roasters” sitting outside, taking all spaces including sidewalk, people can't go thru. Usually it is around 7-12 males . They are in Marina village shopping area everyday and they always siting by Herst coffee shop ALWAYS ! - from morning till night. . They don't have any coffees on the table or any food ( I never see they have anything purchased from any shops ), they just sit outside and talking loudly on their own language. I was walking Thursday to the Marina Village when I try to get to the Herst coffee shop, one of middle eastern male from big group pushed me. I was terrified, I had 5 month baby in stroller and dog with me. I was so shocked and was so uncomfortable, his friends laughed loudly what he did! I felt I was walking in third world countries!!! Middle East male did not apologized or say anything he just look at me and continue walking his way, like it is normal to do so.I change quick my mind to buy anything from this coffee shop because of those males I felt I been watched from top to toes, so horrible feeling…I heard some complains from my neighbors about this situation but nobody do anything. I wondering if management of the coffee shop and Marina village with security just don't want to deal with them .Please be safe with those people and hopefully is community we can do something about as well as managment of the coffee shop because I will not come back to purchasing anything from Herst coffee if those males sitting there again.

WaSa Sushi & Teppan
1346 Bison Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92660, United States
Serendipitous!Nestled in an unassuming facade, neighboring Panera and Planet Beauty, one can easily overlook Wasa by its location. However, Wasa Sushi and Teppan is an extraordinary sumptuous restaurant that provides utmost cuisine. The evening started with meeting our lovely host Cindy, who showed great care and attention to detail. 3 appetizers, Spicy Tuna Tartare, Hawaiian Poke Tuna and Hot Sesame Oil Halibut Carpaccio, ensued. All 3 appetizers were delicious, but the slightly spicy Halibut was extra special as it gave a good kick in the tongue that begged for more. We were very happy that the evening started well with such great-tasting food.Teppan Chef David then introduced himself, demonstrating his excellent knife and cooking skills. For Teppan appetizers, we had Jumbo Prawns that were easily in the U5-10 size that were extremely high in quality. Our scallops were well-Seared outside but very tender inside, not to mention the garlic butter Calamari that makes me salivate as I am writing this review. For Teppan entrees, the Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection with Chimichuri sauce that added special flavoring. Zabuton, commonly referred to as Wagyu steaks, provided a slightly contrasting meat texture to the Filet Mignon. Lamb Chops are generally gamey for my taste, but these were excellent nonetheless. For vegetable and sides, Shiitake Mushroom with parsley butter, Fingerling Potato with Bacon and Zucchini were excellent compliments to our entrees. Moreover, a noteworthy stand out was the Bacon Fried Rice. Fried rice at Teppan restaurants are usually fillers and not paid attention to. But this was one Fried Rice that had excellent flavoring combination in a way that I had never tasted before. You must try it, as it rekindles lifes special moments. As for dessert, the Tempura Ice Creams crunchy shell on the outside contrasted the texture of the ice cream was extremely memorable as well. All in all, Wasa Teppan and Sushi was a special serendipitous find. If this food was in Yamashiro in the Hollywood Hills, the price would have easily doubled or tripled. It was a night where our taste buds were treated as royalty and it made an ordinary day feel tremendously special. Quoting the movie Hitch, Life is not the amount of breaths you take, its the moments that take your breath away. This was one of the moments that took our breaths away.P.S. Special shoutout for orders of Salmon Sushi to finish off. Our son was extremely happy and full. Thanks to Lynn too for the company.

Zinqu
3446 Via Oporto, Newport Beach, CA 92663, United States
I need to start this review off by saying this was the first restaurant of 3 that would even allow us to eat due to it being a graduation weekend. So our table started with a 45 minute wait, which is completely understandable, but the entire experience from just trying to get seated, and get decent food, was horrible. Im only giving three stars because it was a busy weekend and Im hoping that this was a random occasion for the restaurant staff.Pros:- Cool vibes- Friendly staff- vegetarian friendly and accommodating.Cons:- hostess seemed confused multiple times, as they told us our table was ready twice when it wasnt.- servers at open seating did not seem to be in any hurry to get us a drink even though we sat down and asked for both food and drink menus. (We even told the staff we wanted to order and they never came back to take our drink order)- some of the seating areas are very awkward and not conducive to conversation. (Choose elsewhere for a group of 5 or more)For the food:The prices were ok, but the menu doesnt give you an idea of what dishes come with size, and what is available. We ordered fries, because after almost an hour wait, we were hungry and this was the only thing that was on the menu. Also, when we received the fries, after waiting another 20 minutes even though we asked for them and mentioned we were really hungry, they werent even hot. They tasted great, but the temperature was as if they had sat in a food warmer. We order a strawberry Nutella crepe - it tasted fine, but the crepe was thick and burnt. Our friend ordered a veggie crepe and the crepe was even more burnt and weird tasting. The breakfast sandwich was presented well, but it tasted different. Perhaps the cheese made it taste a bit burnt, but after one bite, I let my husband have the rest. All in all, the consensus from our lunch group was 1) we liked the dipping sauce for the fries, 2) way overpriced and small portion size 3) not worth the wait
